Embedded fonts no longer work

My website uses embedded fonts and in all previous versions of Firefox those fonts are correctly displayed. In Firefox 5 these embedded fonts are no longer displayed.

Tim,
I think both issues you're seeing are the same problem, as I believe the htmlText property uses the TextFieldHTML filter. But I haven't been able to reproduce either issue yet.
When I set htmlText using the same font as I specified on the stage (or I omit the font tag entirely) I'm seeing antialiased text. If I use a font in the markup that's different than what I specified on the stage I'm getting a fallback font that's antialiased. The fact that I get a fallback font (even when I specify a font I have installed) suggests to me that it's still trying to use an embedded font after the htmlText property is set.
What happens for you if you do not have a font tag in your HTML? If that looks better there may be a mismatch between font names between the markup and embedding.

  • Embedding fonts - doesn't work

    Another day, another Flash Catalyst problem.
    I check the box to embed fonts when I publish, only when I preview my output they are nowhere to be seen. Bottom line, Flash Catalyst doesn't work on a Mac. I've had nothing but problems. This program isn't ready for prime time at all. I've used betas of programs that are much more polished than this. I believed that there wasn't suppossed to be major issues when using FC with 10.7 Lion.
    That's not true, this program is so broken and flawed and such a frustration to use. Adobe can't be bothered to update even though they've had access to Lion for months. If they can't make a program that works then why bother releasing for the Mac platform at all?
    Lets see:
    1. Placeholders don't work.
    2. Importing Illustrator files doesn't work.
    3. Publishing with embedded fonts doesn't work.
    These aren't minor issues. They are MAJOR PROBLEMS!!! How did Flash Catalyst see the light of day on the Mac? Why was it released? Are these problems isolated to 10.7? Why aren't these MAJOR DEALBREAKERS listed? Can anyone at Adobe stand up and admit that this Flash Catalyst on the Mac is a total fiasco?

    I am sorry you are having trouble. I'm not running Lion on my Mac (issues with LDAP and a corporate network). With something like you are describing I would try two things before contact Adobe support. The first would be to try a fresh install. Maybe the OS upgrade wonked something. The other thing I would make sure is that my JAVA runtime is up to date. Flash Catalyst is built on Eclipse, which in turn in built on JAVA.
    Beyond, that these issue are more that I can help with.

  • Why are some of my fonts no longer working?

    SInce upgrading to Snow Leopard, I have noticed that many of my previously working fonts no longer work. Is there some kind of incompatibility font bug that was introduced with Snow Leopard? Has this been addressed in Lion?
    If not, how do I get my fonts to work? These are fonts that gave me no trouble at all under Tiger or Leopard.

    Have a look at Kurt Lang's article on font management.

  • Embedded videos no longer work in iOS5

    I have a couple of videos embedded on my website.  Suddenly after updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5,  and on my new 4S these videos no longer play at all.  They used to play fine on the 3GS running iOS 4.  They also still play fine on an original iPhone 2G running iOS 3.1.3
    And of course they play fine in any browser on a Mac or a PC.
    The videos are here: http://www.abrasha.com/video.htm
    and here: http://www.abrasha.com/3ddesign/3dbracelets/3d%20hinged%20bracelet.htm
    Could someone please check if they play in your iPhone running iOS 5, and/or let me know if they play correctly in earlier versions of iOS.
    Does anyone know a solution for this, since obviously the videos are embedded properly because they play for me in earlier versions of the iOS.

    I had given up on this and not checked this for a long time, since I posted the original post above.  After your note I checked again, and it now seems to work just fine.
    On my old iPhone 3GS the videos play fine now under iOS 5.1.  And on my new iPhone 4S the videos also play just fine.  On the 4S I am still running iOS 5.0
    I did not make any changes to the video files in question.

  • Printing a barcode font no longer works properly

    I have been using a true type font "3 of 9 barcode" to print mailing labels on an internal website using the following css for some time:
    .barcode { font-family: "3 of 9 Barcode", Times, serif; font-size:36px; }
    After upgrading to Firefox 5 it stopped working. This currently renders the font correctly on the page but when I try to print the page it uses Wingdings. This is happening on multiple computers and multiple printers. The font is installed on all the computers and I've even tried using @font-face with no success.
    [http://www.thomaspainerants.com/firefox_barcode_works.png Screenshot of Firefox properly rendering the barcdoe font.]
    [http://www.thomaspainerants.com/firefox_barcode_broken.png What happens when I try to print]. In this case I printed to PDF but the same thing happens when printing to a normal printer. Printing in the latest versions of Chrome & IE9 works properly though not in Safari.

    Abandon all hope yee who enter this thread. Abandon hope for mozilla fixing the issue that is. I went with a jQuery based bmp generator. It's pretty easy to implement and has worked well for me.
    download: http://code.google.com/p/jquery-barcode/downloads/detail?name=jquery.barcode.0.3.js&can=2&q=
    demo : http://jquery-barcode.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/jquery-barcode/demo/demo.html
    Implementation:
    Put these includes in your header:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.barcode.0.3.js"></script>
    Everything that needs to be a barcode should have the same class. I chose "barcode39".
    <span class="barcode39">405479</span>
    <span class="barcode39">405339</span>
    <span class="barcode39">405341</span>
    Then run this script at the bottom:
    <script>
    $('.barcode39') .barcode({code:'code39'});
    </script>

  • Embeded fonts don't work with htmlText

    If you create a text field and have it Render As HTML, its
    all good until you decide to embed the font for the text field. For
    some reason, no text inside HTML text gets rendered, but everything
    else appears around it.
    This is the case regardless of if you set the HTML Render
    from the GUI or via code.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    this is straight out of the language reference except that i
    have checnged it to be Render HTML and it does not work
    var my_fmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
    my_fmt.font = "Arial";
    this.createTextField("my_txt", this.getNextHighestDepth(),
    10, 10, 160, 120);
    my_txt.wordWrap = true;
    my_txt.embedFonts = true;
    my_txt.html = true;
    my_txt.htmlText = "Hello <b>world</b>";
    my_txt.setTextFormat(my_fmt);
    Steve

    hope you have the font imported in your library.

  • Upgrade to Flex 4, Halo theme, embedded font doesn't work for Spark Label

    I'm upgrading an application to Flex 4 from Flex 3.5 using the Halo theme.  If I include a Spark Label in my application the Spark Label does not render the text using the font I defined in my CSS.  My MX Labels render fine.  Here is an example application that replicates my issue.  So,
    Compile and run using Spark theme.  Both Labels render the text with the correct font.
    Compile and run using Halo theme.  Only MX Label renders the text with the correct font.
    Is it not possible to do what I want?
    Thanks

  • Embedded fonts aren't working properly

    I'm trying to create a PDF from MS Word using Acrobat Pro 10.1.4.  I have it set in the Acrobat print driver to not rely on system fonts.  To my knowledge, that's all I need to do to embed any fonts in the document.
    On the machine I create it, the PDF shows up fine - but on other machines, most of the fonts do not show up properly.  One of them might show up, the rest of them are either substituted with a normal font, or it's gibberish characters.
    Some machines, it comes up without an error - other machines, I get an error for *one* of the fonts saying that it can't find or create it.
    What's going wrong, and how do I properly embed all fonts?

    If the file looks fine on the machine you create the PDF on then you have these fonts on your system.
    So why are you not using the system fonts when you make the PDF?
    This is what I would try:
    1. Tell the Printer Driver to Use the fonts on your system.
    2. Edit the job options - Adobe PDF Settings, Default Settings - Edit
    Fonts Tab -- Make sure Embed All Fonts is selected,
    Remove any fonts from the "Never Embed"
    Save this Job Option and use it.

    embedded fonts aren't working for me in TextFlow. The non-embedded/pre-included fonts are working fine but if i try to add my own font, it doesn't work.

  • Do embedded fonts work in TextFlow yet?

    Embedded fonts aren't working for me in TextFlow for SDK build 8537. I added the embedAsCFF: true thing, and the font does show up in Spark controls; it's just not working when I use it in TextFlow (defaults to Times). Non-embedded fonts are working fine though in TextFlow, the problem is only with the embedded ones. Is this a known issue at this time?

    Turns out this is because of the linkage setting to RSLs in the newer SDK builds, Adobe is looking at this. Check outhttp://forums.adobe.com/message/2121775#2121775 for details/workaround.

  • Link and embedded fonts

    Hi,
    I'm using this to set the general format of my text flow:
    <TextFlow xmlns='http://ns.adobe.com/textLayout/2008' fontSize='16' textIndent='0' paragraphSpaceAfter='0' paddingTop='5' paddingLeft='0' paddingRight='0' lineHeight='100%' fontFamily='RockwellCFF'>
    <TextLayoutFormat color='#ff0000' id='hoverOverBrand' />
    <TextLayoutFormat color='#00ff00' id='mouseDownOverBrand' textDecoration='underline' />
    <TextLayoutFormat color='#0000ff' id='defaultLinkBrand'/>
    <TextLayoutFormat color='#0000ff' id='hoverOverEmail'/>
    <TextLayoutFormat color='#0000ff' id='mouseDownOverEmail' lineThrough='true' />
    I'm also loading some embedded fonts, that's working ok.
    When I apply a link to the current selection, I use this code:
    IEditManager( textFlow.interactionManager ).applyLink( url, linkTarget, false);
    The problem I have is that when the link is applied, the selection looses it's font family value and there is no way to re-format it again.
    is it possible to declare a CFF setting in the "defaultLinkBrand" so all links keep the original font family?
    any ideas will be appreciated.

    Seems to work for me.  Attached is a complete example that I can build and run.  The dump methods show what fonts are actually used.  I don't have RockwellCFF so I used a different font.  If you could modify this example until its broken and pass it back we'd be in a much better position to figure out where the issue is.
    http://drop.io/oscar7878/asset/oscar7878-as
    (not sure how to attach a file here - let me know if this doesn't work)
    This is the output I get (I removed the clusters dump as that's not interesting).  It shows that the embedded font was used - it appears to be visually the case as well.

  • Web page embedded Javascript has stopped working

    Hi,
    Since updating somewhere around v5 or so, some embedded Javascript no longer works, despite ticking the "Allow Javascript" box.
    Was hoping that v9 would have fixed this problem, but no.
    Thanks

    Thanks cor-el, but not being computer literate I do not understand what you mean; neither do I understand any of the responses posted under http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resizing_oversize_window
    What annoys me intensely is that there is an existing option to tick the box to a) "Enable JavaScript" and within that to b) "Move or resize existing windows".
    What is the point of those tick boxes?
    Do not mean to waste your or anyone else's time, but am ready to leave FF for just that simple problem. The way in which I open FF is such that I use an internal own-design web page with positions itself exactly where I want it on my large screen. This option has now been removed by FF; it works fine in IE.
    Thanks to all for trying to sort this out, it is a FF problem that can surely be sorted?

  • Embeded Fonts

    I am trying to embed a font into Flash web application using Flex Builder 3 on Windows XP 64-bit.
    Font: FranKleinBold and and FranKleinMedium
         located: http://www.dafont.com/franklein.font
    I have followed the instructions outlined in "Flex in a Week - Embedding fonts" - didn't work.
    I have tried both the css and the "Bindalbe with a Font Class" versions.
    I have also tried the font installed and "not installed"
    My application.css code:
    @font-face
        /* src: local("FranKleinMedium"); */
    /*     src:url("C:/adobeFlexTraining/Fonts/FranKleinMedium.ttf"); */
        font-family: "fontFranKleinMedium";
         src: url("assets/FranKleinMedium.ttf");
    /*     src: system("FranKleinMedium"); */
        font-weight: normal;
    @font-face
        /* src:url("C:/adobeFlexTraining/Fonts/FranKleinBold.ttf"); */
        font-family: "fontFranKleinBold";
        src: url("assets/FranKleinBold.ttf");
         /* font-weight: bold; */
    .fontFranKleinMedium {
        embedFonts: true;
        font-family:    fontFranKleinMedium;
    global {
        font-family: fontFranKleinMedium;
        color: #FFFFFF;
        fontSize: 16;
    I also ran the following code:
                private function displayEmbeddedFont(name:String):void {
                    var font:Object = systemManager.embeddedFontList[name];
                    Alert.show(ObjectUtil.toString(font), name + ":");
                private function initControl():void
                     displayEmbeddedFont('fontFranKleinMedium');
                     displayEmbeddedFont('fontFranKleinBold');
    Both fonts are stated to be embedded, but the "FranKleinBold" is flagged as bold=false.
    Any ideas as to why the font is not showing up as "times roman"

    I checked this Tutorial.
    http://carvalhar.com/#/en/blog/190/embedding-fonts-flex/
    Used this function:
                private function displayEmbeddedFont(name:String):void
                    var font:Object = systemManager.embeddedFontList[name];
                    Alert.show(ObjectUtil.toString(font), name + ":");
    To determine if the Font was embedded, and the font was embedded.
    However, the font is not display.
    I think I have eliminated all references to any other font.
    All controls are set to 'FranKleinMedium' or 'FranKleinBold'
    Any ideas.

    my Extensis suitcaseX 11.0.4 is no longer working with my system OSX10.6.8, what is the best and cheapest font management software to use that's compatible with this system and my existing CS design software?

    If you upgraded to Snow Leopard, then it would seem that Suitcase 11 is not compatible with Snow Leopard and you'd need to buy Suitcase Fusion 3 for $99.95.
