Embedded SWF - Won't Embed?

Hi, I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro to embed an animated logo that I created in Flash. I exported a SWF file from Flash and then used the multimedia Flash tool in Acrobat to import from my desktop into the PDF document. I went through the advanced settings etc. and made sure they were correct. I saved the PDF, re-opened it and all looked good, the SWF played nicely. I then sent the file to several friends and nobody could see the animated logo, it seems the SWF is no longer embeded in the PDF. I go back and open the attachment from one of the several emails I sent and there it is, the logo appears to be there and it plays fine. So somehow the SWF is not embedded and is just linked to the SWF file on my desktop. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong.
Cheers,
D.

Another thing I noticed is when I go to use Skype instead of regular email to send the PDF, Skype gives you a clear preview/thumbnail of the file you are sending (in fact you can flip through all of the pages withing the PDF document). When I look at this preview I can see that there is no logo on the PDF....yet this is the PDf with the working animated logo. Hmmmmm?

  • .swf won't embed

    Has anyone run into this:
    I've got a Flash file that tests and plays fine as a
    stand-alone .swf.
    However, when I go to embed the .swf, nothing is displayed.
    Nada.
    I cannot get the .swf to embed using ANY of my usual methods.
    Let me know if you've run into anything similar.

    Even I am pretty new to flash. Had faced a similar problem
    when I exported
    my swf files for Version 8.0 and all the computers on the
    intranet were on
    flash player 6.0 The firewall prevented it from upgrading to
    the latest
    player.
    Right click the area where your flash file is supposed to be.
    You might find
    the about flash player menu showing up and that might give
    you an idea if
    the player version is the problem. In my case that was the
    problem because I
    could see it on my computer, whereas other with lower
    versions could not see
    it...Had to make 2 flash files so that both versions play it.
    Hope this helps

  • Embedded swf won't appear when published to website

    Looking for help, hoping someone knows this problem.
    I recently updated a webpage with new flash files in Dreamweaver CS3 and usually it goes smooth, however this update ,when uploaded,the .swf files don't appear at all. The files are in the public folder and should be visible.
    I have attached the webpage. The code shows their is a flash file below the writing, but does not show
    http://www.mooreandassociatesinc.com/realestate.htm
    please help!

    Most likely missing some files.. probably the .js file used for Flash detection
    ../Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js
    most likely pathed wrong.... since it doesn't work.
    But really, NONE of that AC_Run cra# is needed to display Flash!
    Try this:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>mp3_test</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="my_swf">
    <object data="13_30_16_W3rd_acreage.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="760" height="150">
       <param name="movie" value="13_30_16_W3rd_acreage.swf">
    </object>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    That's the entire Web page .... and the only code needed to display that .swf on a Web page. Of course once you get it to display correctly, then you can add it to your full Web page.
    Best wishes,

  • The embeded swf doesn't play...

    Hi
    I'm trying to embed a swf that was created with a flash gallery making program into a pdf file but it just never works properly. I've also tried converting it into pdf but that doesn't work either. Once I convert it/embed it all I see is a white/black square. However if I embed other smaller swfs most of them just work fine. Could the problem be that the swf is too large? Can anybody please figure out the problem? I've been trying everything for the past 3 days and I'm awfully desperate Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated!

    Acrobat and OS make no difference, but the version of Flash Player that the gallery targets will make a difference - Acrobat and Adobe Reader currently won't play content designed for Flash Player 11.
    The other problem can arise when the gallery is using external assets (image files, XML configuration files, etc.) as these must be available after embedding. You should attach them using the Resources tab on the Rich Media Annotation dialog box (right-click your embedded SWF in Acrobat and choose Properties), but if the gallery is written to expect certain folder structures it may not like being sandboxed inside a PDF file.

  • SWF Won't Display in RoboHelp Project

    Hi,
    I have a RoboHelp 9 HTML project that has a number of SWF files embedded in a number of the pages. The problem is the SWF won't display on the HTML page. The SWF files are published to version 11.x. The HTML pages work fine on my computer but I have Robohelp and Flash Pro installed. When I take it to any other computer in my office, the HTML pages load with no problem but the SWF files will not load onto the pages. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    So you are saying that the SWF *WAS* actually displaying but was somehow unable to present the text?
    For others that may wonder about what TLF is (as I did) I'll save you the Google step.

  • Embedding swf files in AIR app for ios

    Hi,
    After going through a lot of articles already available, I found answers with varying views on the following questions:-
    1) Can we embed swf files using the embed tag in air app for ios, with symbols exported ?
    Something like [Embed(source="someSWF",symbol="exportedSymbol")]
    and also something like [Embed(source="someSWF")].
    From what I understand, one can't embed swf's with actionscript byte code in them. So exporting symbols actually creates class linkages which leads to creation of abc. But I'm unsure on this because some sources say otherwise.
    2) Can we embed swf files using embed tag in air app for ios, without symbols exported ?
    Something like [Embed(source="someSWF")]
    and also something like [Embed(source="someSWF" mimeType = "application/octet-stream")]
    I read somewhere else, that you can actually embed symbols separately by providing symbol tag in embed tag but not entire swf (which leads to uncompiled actionscript error) but not sure about this as this is contradictory to finding #1.
    3) If #2 is possible, then do embedding two different swfs with same symbol names would cause a conflict and result in #3747 error ?
    Please note I am not asking about the Loader class here but using the Embed keyword for embedding swfs.
    Also do the results differ with AIRSDK 3.8 and 3.9 and using different swf-version in compiler flags ?
    In our application we started getting error #3747 in class creation of one of the embedded swfs (like new EmbeddedClass()) when we changed from swf-version 17 to 21 using AIRSDK 3.8. So was this error not there earlier or it was there but swf-version was suppressing it ?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I am fairly sure that the answer to your questions is: “no”.
    For embed to work the AIR app would have to be working in interpreter mode, and that can work for local testing, but can’t work for submitting apps. An easy change for you to do would be to use SWCs instead of Embed. Other than that you’re looking at Loader, but also a tricky command line build of the app.

  • Embedding Swf into to forum signature

    Hi, i have been trying to find this everywhere but no good.
    How can i embed swf into forum Posts and signatures ? Its my site s
    o i change settings etc.....is there some mod that should be
    installed on the forum ? Any help at all would be really
    appreciated =)

    No. I mean that the Flex framework makes certain assumptions about the environment it is running in -- like having a stage to work with. The Alert function, for example, works by creating a sprite and adding it to the Flash display list. Since your embedded SWF is not on a stage, there's no way for it to work.
    You can can possibly use certain non-visual parts of the framework, such as the rpc package, but I can't guarantee it.

  • Embedding swf into HTML+JS AIR app

    Hi
    I'm trying to embed swf into HTML+JS AIR app with no luck.
    First, I created flash library with this class in default package.
    package
         import mx.controls.Alert;
         public class Utilities
              public function Utilities()
                             //asdfasdf
                   Alert.show("asdasd","");
    Then I compiled the project with Flash Builder and got library.swc as result. Then I extracted swf file.
    After this is added required code into my html:
    <html>
    <head>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRAliases.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRIntrospector.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.6.2.js"></script>
        <script src="library.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            $(document).ready(function () {
                alert('loaded');
                air.Introspector.logError("aaa");
                var v = new runtime.Utilities();
        </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    Then after I run application, I get error that result of expression is not constructor, function etc.
    Could you help me please?  Thanks in advance.

    So close to being finished! I notice this question on alot of other forums but its never resolved!
    here is the site now:
    http://http://www.andrewweeksphotogr...m/index_8.html
    you will notice a slight flash of a white box before the preloader starts, i'm trying everything to make it go away! this box seems to be the same size as my embedded swf. the site and preloader are all in one swf. all i need to do is make that white box the same color as the background so it is unnoticeable.

  • Spark Image can't scale embedded SWF symbols?

    Can anyone help me make sense of this?
    Using Flex 4.5.1 (Spark only compile) I've found that the new Spark Image control works inconsistently when loading SWF at runtime and embedding SWF symbols. See these two situations:
    1) OK - Spark image loads a whole SWF in runtime. Swf loads OK and scales up to desired size with perfect smooth anti-aliased edges
    2) Not OK - Spark Image loads an embedded swf symbol as follows:
    <s:Image source="@Embed(source='embedded/GeneralSymbols.swf' , symbol = 'komodoDragon')"  x="250" y="35" height="200" />
    ( or using a bindable class )
    And the image is pixelated and totally unusable.
    It seems unfortunately that when embedding Swf Symbols ( which is a big element of the Adobe Flex - Flash - Illustrator workflow ) the "vector" images are reduced to bitmaps at their original size and don't scale.
    I know spark swfLoader is a possible option - but surely it's too heavy for loading many images?

    Hi Ged_mc.
    Did you find the answer to this?
    I'm using Flex 4.6 SDK and having the same problem. It's kind of dumb, isn't it?
    Especially since I'm migrating an application from Flex 3 to 4.6 and it worked perfectly in the previous version.
    Thanks!

  • Embedding SWF in a text field

    Hi, New user to Flash here with a problem embedding .SWF
    files. I have already existing SWF files that I have called
    historically from HTML using <object> to embed the object and
    <param name= value=> also to pass it information. The SWF
    movie I need to embed basically builds a graph and takes its data
    from the location you supply it in <param name= value=>
    field. This code is not mine and I can't alter it.
    What I want to do is construct a flash version of my site and
    embed these graphs within a flash textfield. I have been able to
    successfully embed a test SWF file using <img> tags on a text
    field ---> but here is my question. How do I support the
    <param name= value=> functionality I got when I called these
    graphs from HTML using <object>?
    I hope that's clear? Any help at all is greatly appreciated.
    Tom

    Tom,
    > What I want to do is construct a flash version of my
    site
    > and embed these graphs within a flash textfield.
    That's a really interesting approach. At first, I didn't
    understand
    what you were aiming for, but it sounds to me like you're
    tying to use HTML
    inside a Flash text field -- which is doable, to some extent
    -- and embed an
    external SWF in that HTML ... all within Flash.
    > I have been able to successfully embed a test SWF file
    > using <img> tags on a text field --->
    That does work, but it's about the closest you'll get, I'm
    afraid. It's
    only happenstance that Flash's very narrow (and somewhat
    unique) version of
    HTML accepts SWFs in an <img> tag.
    > but here is my question. How do I support the <param
    name=
    > value=> functionality I got when I called these
    graphs from
    > HTML using <object>?
    Flash only supports a very limited subset of the HTML
    language. You can
    see the full list of supported tags by searching the phrase
    "supported tags"
    in the documentation (specifically, the Learning ActionScript
    2.0 in Flash
    book). For better or worse, <object>, <param>,
    and <embed> are simply not
    in that list.
    > Any help at all is greatly appreciated.
    Your only choice is to use one of the more traditional
    methods of
    loading external SWFs, such as loadMovie(),
    MovieClip.loadMovie(), or the
    MovieClipLoader class. Once your external SWF is loaded, you
    may "feed" it
    variables that should be detectable by the ActionScript
    inside the loaded
    SWF.

    </object>

    You can use swf inside of another swf.
    If you are using Actionscript2 then learn about LoadMovie
    And for AS3 it is Loader.

  • Passing parameters to an embedded swf

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to embed a SWF animation that contains parameters (flashvars). I successfully used this animation in HTML and passed values to these parameters and now I want to embed it in a Flex project.
    I managed to load and show the animation in several ways but I can't find how to pass it values for the parameters.
    Anyone knows how to do this?
    Thanks!

    I don’t know of any way to do that without modifying the SWF to accept some handshake from the loading application.  An embedded SWF is being loaded via loadBytes and there is no parameter/flashvar passing mechanism.

  • Dynamically embedded swf, has it ever worked

    I have to repost it. Wondering what adobe will say about it.
    I have tried this for a couple of days. I created a swf object in window.onload (also tried to create it directly while the script was loaded ), then call an AS function from JS. statically embedded swf works for both IE8 and FF, FF also fine for dynamically loading. In IE, this call externalinterface.call("echo", "as returns " + b); always shows "as returns false". The callback function has never worked in other approches with dynamic creation. Anyone has good experience?
    Thanks.
