Embedding a Flash .exe
I need to load a Flash executable into my browser application. It has a couple of transparent masks. Anyway, is there a way to both embed it and collect data from it.
I have a question about that too, only it isn't about swf executables only. The only way I can get, like a offline browser, to be able to access the internet is through something that already has access through the fire wall. If I wanted, say teleport pro to be in the applet, is there anything I could do?

Flash .exe or swf files will not play on Vista
I decided to learn how to create captions for flash video,
using CS3. I tested this project and it worked fine. I could just
double-click on the app or the swf and the captioned video played
fine on my Mac. I only had Flash (CS3) on my Mac, so I created the
files there.
I then published an exe to move over to my Vista machine.
When I double-clicked on the file, it brought up Flash Media Player
version 9, but only showed a blank white box. Very frustrating.
After some research, I read that Windows Vista was not
compatible with Flash Media Player 9. Only 10.02xxx or later (I
forget the exact version - it was long) was supposed to work with
Vista. Since CS3 uses version 9 to pack into the executable (PC) or
app (Mac) projector files, I thought maybe this was the problem.
So I downloaded the demo of Flash CS4, thinking this version
would pack version 10 into the projector and this would solve my
problem.
While the CS3 version of my saved flash video project would
open in Flash CS4, it would not play when I tested the movie inside
Flash CS4. It would just show a skin at the bottom of the video
player only (with a play/pause button), and it had moving blue bars
on the skin like it couldn't really load either.
I then decided to create the whole flash video with captions
from scratch under Flash CS4. This time when I tested the movie in
Vista, it worked fine. When I published either the projector exe or
the html/swf combination, it worked fine. So proudly (and finally!)
I sent the exe over to my boss. But..... you guessed it. The Flash
Media Player 10 that started up when the file was double-clicked
just showed a blank white screen again!
So then I moved the exe over to another partition to test to
see if there was some dependent directory pathway saved as part of
the flash video file. The exe wouldn't play on the other partition!
So I thought I was onto something. I then tried moving files that I
thought the exe might be dependent on (although isn't the point of
a projector to be stand alone?) to the same directory on this
partition as the flash exe projector file.
I ended up moving the captions.xml file, the swf files (flash
video player skins included), and the html file that the swf file
is supposed to be embedded in. NOTHING worked.
I even read that someone with this problem saved his Flash
CS4 file as a Flash CS3 file before he published it, and that
worked for him. So I tried that too, but with no joy.
So I am totally stumped. Does anyone out there have advice or
even a solution?
Much Thanks,
ChuckHI

Embed flash exe in a director exe
I have a Director project programmed in 2004 with Macromedia
Director MX 2004 that is a standalone executable program. The
client has sent me an asset he wants embedded in the program that
is itself a Flash .exe program. Is it possible to embed an exe in
an exe? Any Xtras or is this compatible with Director 11 (which I
don't have yet). Any help would be great.Typically, you would embed a Flash .swf file into Director,
not the exe.
I don't think you can embed an .exe into Director. You can
make the
other exe open in another window using the open command, but
if you need
it embedded in the director file, then it would need to be
swf. -
How can I script a Flash .exe file to always stay on top of all other windows?
Hi All,
I'm new to action script, and I just need this one script
> How can I script a Flash .exe file to always stay on top of

Basically what i want to do is have a flash-created
step-by-step instructional movie, but for the movie to remain on
top of all windows so the instructee is able to follow the
instructions on-screen...
It would be preferable to not have to buy another product
just to do this... as I said, this is the only scripting I need.
Thanks in advance

Creating a button to print a file in a flash exe menu
What is the actionscript to assign to a button in order to
open a file/document that will be included on the same cd rom as my
flash EXE interface?
Any help would be appreciated.
Not looking for third party solutions just the scripting
required for the flash exe to locate the file from the cdrom and
print to the users printer.
Thanks!
MegThis is an intersting challenge. The Javascript API certainly has the ability to change image mapping on the 3D objects. I doubt if this can be accomplished strictly through scripting, because Javascript is limited by nature to NOT allow file I/O. This is intentional, to prevent security exposures.
Maybe someone else would know how to load external files? If so, these images could be applied to the 3D models with Javascript. -
Opening external pdf from flash exe
I've looked around the site and I havent found anything
refering to this.
I'm creating an Interface in flash which will browse through
a list of pdfs. This interface will be published on a CD-ROM for
distribution.
How do I launch the pdfs directly from a link in the flash
exe? Since it is not playing within a browser I can't use getURL.
It's been years since I've had to do this, and the last time
I used the fsCommand to launch an exe file created in Director
which would in turn open the pdf file. I'm hoping there is a better
solution.

Help with embedding XML / Flash Banner Rotator?!?
Hey guys, please help me; I'm having some trouble embedding this flash/xml banner rotator into this page, I can see that the file has been uploaded, however when I try to place it into the page, it just doesn't work. I even get error reports from IE, the code was all place by dreamweaver.
The first set of code below is the entire page, the second set is the part that isn't working for me (the part I'm too dumb to fix).
The code that is highlighted in red is the code with the <embed> tag.

problem here :
Really, all of you thank you so much for your help, it is appreciated more than you know! Thank you!Hi
All I am seeing is your actual page layout, no code.
But as you say it is an xml file (swf), it is more than likely that you have placed the swf and xml files in incompatible places. So without seeing your code, all I can suggest is to check the file placement of all items.
PZ
Can see the code now, for some reason it was rendering the code, not displaying it until I refreshed the page.

How I fixed the missing Flash.exe in Extension manager 5
I was surprised to see that Flash 5 was absent from the list of programs in Extension Manager 5
First I ran
Adobe Utilities-CS5/ExtenScript Toolkit CS5
BridgeTalk.__diagnostics__;
In the relevant section in
Result: BridgeTalk Diagnostics
flash-11.0:
Group = cs
Path = D:\programs\Adobe\Creative5\Adobe Flash CS5\Flash.exe
Display Name = Adobe Flash Pro CS5
MsgAuthentication = ON
MsgDigest = ON
ESTK = OFF
Status = (not running)
ExeName = Flash.exe
I noticed that the path to Flash.exe was at the same level as other creative suite programs.
The regstry also reflected this
my istallation put it at one extra level i.e. in
D:\programs\Adobe\Creative5\Adobe Device Central CS5\Adobe Flash CS5\Flash.exe
I corrected the registry entry, but this didn't help.
Then I added the folder Adobe Flash CS5 in Creative 5.
Into this file I put a shortcut to Flash.ext but this wasn't suffient. Finally I realized that the file XManConfig.xml, which is in the folder Configuration,
was required so, instead of just adding this File I coppied the Configuration folder to the Adobe GFlash C5.
The the Flash program is now present in Extension Manager, and I am now able to add extensions.
Why the installation put the Flash.ex in a dfferent folder from the other programs in the suite I don't know, buT i didn't want to mess with the folder structure.I don't know why your flash was installed in "Adobe Device Central CS5". It is supposed to be installed in the same level as "Adobe Device Central CS5", in your case, "D:\programs\Adobe\Creative5". Was Flash installed by another person? Or the target directory was set to this wrong folder? Anyway, you can think "Adobe Device Central CS5" as another component or product in CS5 family, just like "Adobe Flash CS5".

How to get Flash exe to play before video on DVD-Rom
I have created a DVD, in Encore, with links to PDFs. Of course, when they click on the link to the PDF, it tells them to play the disc in their DVD-ROM player. For the computer side of the disc, I have created a Flash file that looks exactly like the DVD menus, except it will open the PDFs. When I put the DVD into a computer, it always opens the DVD video first. I would like it to open the Flash exe, first. Opening the DVD video will probably confuse the user since it will tell them to play the DVD in a computer DVD-ROM player, which they already are playing it from the PC. I have an Autostart file. Is there something else that I need to do, to get the Flash to play first, or is this a setting on the computer? Thanks for any help you provide.
Use autorun.inf file burn it with your cd/dvd

Hi,
I have a bug in my Flash cs3. After I close the program, it
is still running.What I mean is, if I check task manager (Ctrl,
Alt, del) Flash.exe is still running. Also, I can no longer re-open
Flash unless I end the process in task manager first.
Anyone else have this problem or a fix for it?Hi doghouseJim and Kalisto. thanks for the assistance. I am using Windows XP and my code does not involve what you mentioned.
Even from a fresh reboot and just launch Flash CS4, without opening an existing file or even creating a new file, exiting from Flash CS4
will also cause this problem. The application will exit but the window container will not, please see the attachment. I have to kill the
Flash.exe process from the Windows Task Manager.
Hope this can be resolve as Adobe seem unable to assist. -
How to convert Flash EXEs to run on a Mac?
The government where I'm working has distributed DVDs with teacher's guides and course materials to teachers and volunteers working on a new environmental education project. When I loaded the DVD into my Mac, the DVD title showed up under "Devices" in Finder windows, but it was grayed-out and couldn't be opened. (I had to go into Terminal and use "drutil eject" to get it out.)
Today I tested the DVD in a Windows laptop and it worked without any problems. The interface is composed of Flash EXEs. I can access all of the other files on the disk -- PDFs, PPTXs, &c. -- but they're all in one directory and not always well-named. I'd like to be able to use the interface to access the files when I present to my students.
Does anyone know of a program I can run to convert this DVD of Flash EXEs into something useable on my Mac? I do have access to a Windows laptop, and I was looking into DVD-to-ISO programs this morning, but I don't know if that would solve the problem of the interface being Flash EXEs. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank youUnless you have the .swf files, I don't think you'll be able to simply convert the .exe files. However, have you looked into running Windows on the Mac using a virtual machine? If this sounds reasonable, check out the following links:

Changing background color in a flash exe
Hi folks,
I am trying to change the background color in a flash 8 .exe file that seems to extract setup variables via an xml file. The xml file reads as follows:
*?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?*
*settings*
*min*10000*/min*
*max*10119*/max*
*exclude*
*range min="12" max="14"**/range*
*range min="16" max="18"**/range*
*/exclude*
*putbackin*false*/putbackin*
*titletext**![CDATA[*font color="#000000" size="60"*TEXT*br/*TEXT*br/**/font*]]**/titletext*
*errortext*ERROR: no more numbers*/errortext*
*/settings*
I had to replace the < > parentheses with * to get it to display here.
When I run the application the flash application reads the above xml file and sets the variables require for the program to function.
Can I set the background color via this file or is it impossible to do without editing the original flash exe file? If it can be done, then where do I insert the code?
Appreciate any assistance. Thanks.It is hard to say if the tag... <backgroundColor="white"> is intended to be the data defining the background area color, though you could try different colors and see. Since it is using "white", I'd suspect you have a very limited set of options--normally it would be specified as a hexidecimal value: 0XFFFFFF. Try changing it to "back" just for starters and see if anything changes to your expectations.
If that doesn't change what you wish, then you would likely need to edit the original source file to get something different. -
What version is your CS3 Flash.exe?
If you have Acrobat 8 Professional/CS3 and are up to date, what version number is your flash.exe file? Not to be confused with flashplayer. Thanks.
Macromedia Flash 8 came out about 5 years ago Adobe Aquired Macromedia in 2005 about the time Flash 9 was coming out Adobe repackaged Flash 9 and called it Flash CS3 flash cs3 output plays on Flash Player 9 you can also save to Flash 8 version with cs3 if you specify AS2 as your script version. The current version of Flash CS4 writes to Flash player 10. Flash and Acrobat really don't have much in common and I can't understand why you keep mentioning Acrobat.
