Embedding annoter window in a fram

I am looking at creating a Java version of a screen that will embed another application window in a child frame and sends messages to the window to togle display and navigate fields. My question is if Java is able to do this or not. I'd like to create this in Java so that it can run in any Java supported OS and not be tied to only running on Windows platforms.
Any help of where to look would be appreciated.
Thanks.

you can go for Jinternal frames for this feture...
And inorder to navigate..within frames..
class Frame1
PanelClass pnl1 = new PanelClass();
public Frame1()
f1.add(pnl1);
public static main(String a[] )
Frame1 f1 = new Frame1();
PanelClass {
Panel2 pnl2 ;
public PanelClass(){}
public void doSomething(Panel2 pnl2)
this.pnl2 = pnl2;
Panel2 extends JPanel
PanelClass pnl1 ;
public Panel2(PanelClass pnl1)
this.pnl1 = pnl1;
pnl1.doSomething(this);
you can also pass the parameters rather than just the instances...
I have not compiled the above program. I 've only tried to explain the logic since I have worked on this earlier and it works...
HOpe this helps..

  • Open Dialog Window in Parent Frame

    I have a page viewer web part on my page which is surfacing a News page from another part of our SharePoint farm.  This News page contains links to many articles which I have told to open in a Dialog window using the following code:
    function DisplayArticle(url)
    var options = SP.UI.$create_DialogOptions();
    options.width = 900;
    options.height = 800;
    options.url = url;
    SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options);
    This is working fine although the dialog opens within the boundary of the Page Viewer web part and I would like it to open as if it was a dialog of the parent window.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
    Because the dialog function is running within the context of the iframe, seems like its creating the dialog divs as children of the iframe's.
    You can do something like this:
    1) Create some Javascript function in the parent page, some thing like this:
    function DisplayArticleInParent(url)
    var options = SP.UI.$create_DialogOptions();
    options.width = 900;
    options.height = 800;
    options.url = url;
    SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options);
    2) from inside the iframe call parent pages function which we created above something like this:
    parent.DisplayArticleInParent('your article url');
    Genrally window.parent returns a reference to the parent of the current window or subframe.When a window is loaded in an <iframe>, <object>, or <frame>, its parent is the window with the element embedding the window.
    Please refer following link for calling parent window function:
    http://forums.asp.net/t/1117770.aspx
    Hope It might help you

  • How can I remove the lable "Warning:Applet window" of pop frame in a applet

    How can I remove the lable "Warning:Applet window" of pop frame in a applet? Not only in MS IE's JVM,but also in java plug-in 1.40, the warning always display , What can I do?
    ===
    thank you!

    You cannot remove the label. It is there intentionally as a security measure, to warn the user that the window is from a running applet, so that (s)he knows it might be dangerous to enter sensitive information there (any applet from anywhere on Internet could have opened the window, who knows if it is malicious or not!).
    Perhaps you can open a window without the warning when you sign your applet (with a security certificate).

  • I cannot print from firefox. I can print from open office. It seems to have something to do with when frames open because in IE, I can print a whole page, but when I try to use a print button embeded in a page or frame it does not work.

    Cannot print from firefox at all.
    In Internet Explorer, I was able to print by pushing the print button, but when opening a frame, like in mapquest, the embedded print button brings up an options window that has print frames options in it, but when hit OK in this box, a second error box comes up with a yellow exclamation point and nothing prints. I have a feeling that it is the same problem with both browsers, but would prefer using firefox. Can you help with this?

      Yes, I tried that.   The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size.   I opened that destination folder from quick time  from where it said select image sequence.   I clicked on the first one and opened it.   The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go.   When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie.   The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
        To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation?  Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.
        Thanks

  • I tried to open a bookmark and it opened in an active window as a frame, not a separate tab or window. What's going on?

    I've been having problems with Firefox hanging (seems related to Flash on a particular website). Through hours of troubleshooting yesterday, including on the phone with my ISP's help desk, it was recommended I "refresh" Firefox. I've done that before, and I did it yesterday again. This morning I opened Firefox to my home page (my ISP's portal), checked my email, logged out of email, closed that tab, opened two other forums and Photobucket--three tabs open in the window--to post photos and contribute to discussions in both forums. When done, I logged out of both forums and Photobucket, closed each tab separately, then quit Firefox. (While in Photobucket, Flash crashed several times....but that's not unusual with Photobucket in my experience. It's a different problem I am still dealing with....but forget it right now....) As part of yesterday's "refresh", I set Firefox to empty the cache and cookies and other files upon quitting.
    Later in the day today, I opened Firefox, my ISP's portal opened as usual and expected (my "Home page"). Sometimes, rather than close that window/tab, I just open a bookmark and it opens in that same window, but replacing the previous window and its contents. That is normal operating procedure for me. You know, rather than having two windows open where I'll have to close the first one, I just have the bookmark open in place of the original window/contents.
    Today (and it's happened before today, but only infrequently), the bookmarked page opened as if it was a frame in the active window....that is, my ISP's portal occupies about 3/4 of the window, but over on the left side of the window (not another tab or window, but in the very same window) is a slender partial view of the bookmarked page. This new web page--totally unrelated to the original page--has a scroll bar at the bottom, but can't be made to fill the window....the previously opened web page acts as a barrier to seeing the "new" frame/web page. While I can grab the right border of this "new frame" and drag it to the right, it still can't push the "old" original web page out of the way....the old page reaches some minimum limit and I get a split screen view of two entirely different web sites contained in exactly the same active window.
    The "new" frame has an "x" in the upper right corner, so I could close it.....but my question is, why did it open in a completely different company's web page/window....how can two web pages from completely different organizations/companies/websites occupy the same active window in Firefox? I have screenshots.....attached. And, oh yes, besides the HOW and WHY of it, how can it be prevented (or is the best thing to just right click and open it in a new tab or window.....??????) That still doesn't satisfy me....I'm someone who needs to know WHY something happened that should not have happened. It makes me crazy when something strange happens and the "solution" is to change MY behavior. (You know, like if YOU were the problem, but I have to change MY behavior instead of fix what's wrong with YOU.....when fixing YOU might render the entire situation obsolete.)
    Thanks for whatever you can suss out.....

    You do not have the properties in the Bookmarks Manager (Library), but you should have it if you right-click a bookmark the Bookmarks Toolbar or in the bookmarks sidebar.
    On Mac you probably do not have it if you right-click an item in the Bookmarks menu (this menu is under control of the Mac OS), but I assume that this should work if you click the "Show your bookmarks" button on the Navigation Toolbar that is next to the star to bookmark the current tab and right-click an item in the bookmarks list that opens.

  • How to contain all windows in Application Frame cs5 MAC

    Hello,
    This is my last resort to hopefully find a solotion to my problem.
    Ive recently switched from PC to MAC, and since the switch I have had some trouble with photoshop (apparently its not the same?)
    Now please bear with mem I have trouble explaining this properly hehe
    Okay...
    When I have two photos open in cs5 in tabs, If i drag one out of the tab and then click on the photo still tabbed the one that isnt tabbed disappears! Its floating in behind photoshop over my desktop. If I minimize photoshop, I can see the file floating there?
    Is there any way to keep all files (windows) contained within the application frame itself, so they no longer "float" behind the photoshop application frame??
    I hope this makes enough sense!
    I never had trouble with windows floating outside of photoshop when I was using PC...

    Hi,
    Do you have the application frame in photoshop cs5 turned on or off?
    Window>Appliction Frame
    A check mark beside the word application frame means it's on.

  • Any way to re-position the small embedded video window of self?

    Is there any way to move the small embedded window (the picture of me) to another location (e.g., top right corner)? I use iChat to communicate with others in sign language and the bottom right corner really is annoying as it covers up the signer's hands. Yes, I know the other person can move farther away from their camera, but it would certainly be a handy option to move the small window to one's preferred location.

    Hi UrbanaMac,
    As Defcom has said it can be moved and Resized.
    It will only go in one of four places and that is each corner.
    Letting go of it in the middle of the main window will let it decide which is the closest.
    Like most windows it has markings it whichever corner is closest to the middle to grab and resize it.
    The Add-On Chax will you you to remove it completely.
    Chax is having problems in iChat (Text Chats) if the setting to Auto-accept Text chats is set AND you have the new Safari 3 beta.

  • Command window in a frame

    Hello,
    Is it possible to have a command window, by command window I mean the black window you get when you type cmd in run in windows or a shell in Unix, Linux, in a JFrame. I have a two web apps that I want their outputs/logs to be displayed in such frame plus tomcats output window.
    regards,

    I thinks I have not explained the problem correctly, I have two web applications that produce outputs, I want to display these outputs together with the server( this is in C) and tomcat outputs in a JFrame, yes I will be using a JTextArea or come other area but the question is how to redirect the output. How can I redirect the output of tomcat to a JTextArea, how can I do it with a server that sends it output to the standard output, stdio.Configure the server not to write the output to stdout, but instead a file. Then you can display the contents of that file.

  • Missing Text in embedded  PDF Window

    Hi,
    We have one application in which we embed Acrobat(8.1.2) and that whole application is embedded in IE(7.0) Browser. So when I open any pdf document in that application thru IE 7.0 browser, Text or content of pdf document are not coming, while navigation panel and other icons are coming in the PDF window.
    I also obeserved that, when I embed acrobat as popup window (not as a child) then things works fine but that's not our requirement .
    Any Idea why this problem is coming ?
    Regards,
    Arvind

    We changed the embedding model with Acrobat 7 - from inProc to the other type (or maybe it's the other way around - I always get them backwards). Regardless, Acrobat 7 and later embed using proper COM embedding techniques, while 6 did not.

  • GetURL opening in new window instead of frame

    Using Flash for a website for the first (always been just a
    backend php, asp, java programmer) and having the most frustrating
    time with what should be the simplest thing. I have a button that
    on the mouse down is supposed to load a link into another frame,
    but instead it opens a new window with the link. In the html file I
    have an iframe defined with the proper name, that matches the name
    placed in the actionscript. What am I missing?
    Here is the HTML Code:
    <iframe src="home.html" width="766" name="mainFrame"
    frameborder="0"><iframe>
    Here is the Actionscript Code:
    on (release) {
    getURL("new.html", "mainFrame");
    Thanks a lot for your help!

    I can help you there:
    on(release) {
    getURL("new.html","iframe","GET");
    Although if you have a name for your frame, it MIGHT be:
    on(release) {
    getURL("new.html","mainFrame","GET");
    Although personally I'd just keep with using a regular iframe
    without a name.

  • Minimizing window causes content frame to be cropped

    Hi,
    In one of the page in my application, I have a page I have a from and number of reports as content frame region. The problem is when I try to make the screen smaller (the width), the buttons on top of the region starts to get cropped.
    The image is in the link below. I am using
    APEX Version: Apex 4.2.2,
    Theme: 26.
    Page Template: One Level Tabs - Content Frame
    Child Regions: Hide and Show Region - Borderless
    Would appreciate if someone can suggest a CSS fix that produces a scroll bar at the bottom of the page when users narrow width of the browser window. Have tried fiddling around with overflow property with no luck Many Thanks.

  • Windows 7/XP Frame 9/10 Acrobat 9/10 Question

    Wondering if anyone can shed any light on this problem:
    I have one system running Windows 7 - FrameMaker 10 - Acrobat 10.
    I have another system running Windows XP - FrameMaker 9 - Acrobat 9.
    Both systems have Adobe PDF set as the default Printer with what appear to me to be identical settings.
    I have two different manuals although a lot of the text is identical between them.
    One is formatted in Frame 9 on XP. One is formatted in Frame 10 on Windows 7.
    There is one identical page with identical text. In the Frame 9 version one of the numbered points fits on one line with 100% spread. In the Frame 10 version the identical text won't fit on the same line even with a -2% squeeze.
    The character size, paragraph formats, indents, page layouts are identical.
    If I open the Frame 9 file in Frame 10 on the Windows 7 version the text fits on one line although it appears that the words all run together and this is reproduced in the PDF. However, the PDF created on the XP system from this file looks fine.
    Anything I do to this file on the Windows 7 version makes the text revert to 2 lines. Choosing Print Setup and saying OK to Adobe PDF as the printer generates a message that the font information has changed and the text from the previously, one line, FM9 version goes to two lines. Even choosing a -2% spread instead of the 100% makes it change to two lines.
    I've saved the FM10/Windows 7 file as FM9 and opened it on the XP/FM9 system and the text appears as two lines. However, if I cut the paragraph and then do undo it reverts to one line.
    The only difference I can see is in the PDF. If I choose the text properties the FM9 version reports Helvetica LT Com-Roman Bold and the FM10 PDF reports Helvetica LT Com Bold.
    Any pointers would be helpful...

    Neil,
    1. The two fonts listed  (Helvetica LT Com vs. Helvetica LT Com Roman) are separate faces, so they probably have slightly different metrics.
    2. "Choosing Print Setup and saying OK to Adobe PDF as the printer generates a message that the font information has changed..."
    You shouldn't be seeing this message if the Adobe PDF actually was your default as you state earlier in the posting (??)  Creating documents using different default printer instances can also create some visual differences.To ensure that the Adobe PDF printer instance is your default in FM,there's an excellent utility called SetPrint from Sundorne (see: http://www.sundorne.com/FrameMaker/Freeware/setPrint.htm ) that will  have FM automatically set the Adobe PDF as the default on start-up (and it resets to the system printer after FM closes).
    3. Check the maker.ini settings on the two platforms. The DisplayUsingPrinterMetrics setting will affect how FM displays content ont the screen. This setting should always be "On".
    4. Have you applied the PDF creation MS hotfix on your XP platform? See: http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2008/07/hotfix_for_framemaker_1.html

  • Vim and Eclim (Java): Run Java program in embedded terminal window

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to create a decent Vim setup for Java programming. I've installed Eclim, and it works alright. However, one annoyance I have is the way that Eclim runs Java programs. When run (via the :Java command in Vim), a Java program runs in a new shell instance pretty independent from Vim, and then when the program terminates (and Enter is pressed), the output is put into a new buffer at the bottom of the Vim window with the output.
    The problem with this is that I must press Enter to go back to Vim after the program terminates, and then the output buffer is automatically selected even though I most likely do not care to copy any of the output.
    So, this is what I would like to happen:
    - I run my Java program somehow (doesn't have to be with :Java)
    - A buffer containing the running program in a shell is put on the screen (if not already there)
    - The program terminates, and the focus did not change to the output buffer
    At the very least, I want the focus to not change to the output buffer after the program is done running.
    Any ways to at least somewhat accomplish what I'm trying to  get at?

    I have never used Java except for that and my first CS class at university. I eventually realized that software (as a job) wasn't for me and took a route closer to EE. I still fight to avoid being called a programmer though
    I like the idea of programming for a job, not necessarily "software development", something computer science-y sound good to me.
    But anyway, to end on an on-topic note, I embedded gvim inside Eclipse as described here.

    Hello,
    We are using BO XI 3.1 SP2 FP 2.5. When we use OpenDocument call and view a report in new window, we do see a grey border (Apart from IE window). Is there any way we can supress/hide similar to hiding toolbar, scrollbar.
    Any input in this regard is would help.
    Note: if my memory serves me right, I do see this in 3.1, we don't have it R2.
