Embedding video file format in Edge, auto play video

When embedding video in Edge, does it need to be mp4 file format? And once video is embedded, how do you get it to play automatically?

Use mp4 and ogg.
Ogg or ogv is for Firefox
mp4 for other browsers
You can convert to ogg on the FF site here: Firefogg - video and audio encoding for Firefox

  • Mpeg4 file format that QuickTime can play

    Hi:
    I got one file that was encoded by the MPEG-4 format
    (Video: MPEG-4, Audio: MPEG-4 AAC) using the Advanced
    Simple Profile. I could play it smoothly through the VLC
    player. However, the QuickTime Player couldn't recognize it
    and returned with the 2010 error code. Could anyone tell
    me how to find the reason why the QuickTime couldn't play
    this file? Do I need to download any extra module to make
    it work?
    Thanks.
    Pentium 4   Windows XP Pro

    That helps. I DID find something that said QuickTime six had a problem with ASP and I think that's true for 7 as well. Actually, I don't think it's so much of a problem as it is not-supported for MPEG-4 (it is for H.264). If what I'm saying sounds odd, it's because I don't know exactly what I'm talking about, but I know that one reason why MPEG-4 on the Mac looks worse than H.264 is because MPEG-4 was only designed to create "Simple Profile".
    I'll do some more searching to see if I can verify that QuickTime 7 wouldn't be able to play back ASP. (Which version are you using for playback?)

  • How to make an audio file on Dreamweaver not auto play?

    hi,
    ive been trying to make my audio file on dreamweaver not play when the webpage is opened.
    i have tired the 'autoplay, false' however this dosent seem to work for me. im using Dreamweaver CS6
    im hoping for some help as this is becoming frustrating!
    and i am using a music file which has been downloaded!

    At a minimum, you need MP3 and OGG audio files.  If you don't have them, use the online converter below: http://media.io/
    With an HTML5 doc type, your code should look like this:
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>HTML5 Audio Demo</title>
    <!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]-->
    </head>
    <body>
    <p>This works in all modern browsers. </p>
    <audio controls>
    <source src="path/yourSong.ogg" type="audio/ogg">
    <source src="path/yourSong.mp3" type="audio/mp3">
    <p>Your browser doesn't support audio.</p>
    </audio>
    </body>

  • HT3775 i could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized

    why could not opened .my movie file format

    Quicktime X is a great little piece of software. However, Quicktime X is very finicky on which codec/file format it can decode/play.
    Luckily, there are DOZENS of alternative video/media players and extensions available for the Mac. Some of them are even FREE. Some of the better FREE ones include...
    PERIAN (quicktime extension)
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/22923/perian
    QUICKTIME 7.6.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923

    NICEPLAYER
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15136/niceplayer
    ... And if none of those work, there is a possibility that, that video file may be corrupted.

    We have multiple text and spreadsheet input files we use to load data to our DW.  Is there a way I can print the format definitions for the the text and spreadsheet files?
    I've used the Auto documentation feature for work flows and data flows, but don't see an option for the print the File Formats (very well could be user error!).
    Thanks for any insight...

    You can view the file format in the Auto Documentation page but don't see a button to print it out.  Is this what you are looking for? ...

  • Embedded SWF files auto starting in IE but set to not auto play - Chrome, Firefox, Safari work ok

    One of the web masters at my school has embedded several Captivate 5 swf files in a web page.  I had re-exported all of them to not auto start after we realized that the originals were set to auto play upon loading (someone else made the orginials...).  Caches have been cleared on IE9, but yet, when that page loads, all of the no auto-play swfs start playing.  On Chrome, Firefox and Safari, none of them start playing when the page is loaded.  Does anyone have a clue why IE9 might be doing this and how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Sue

    Am I correct in assuming that when your web developer set these SWFs up on the same page that he did not use the default HTM page that Captivate creates?  Did he just embed them into the web page using standard Dreamweaver code for SWFs?
    Do the same Captivate SWFs start automatically if you upload them to your web server individually with the HTM and JS files that Captivate creates?  If not, then your web developer might be better off embedding the content in his web page using individual iframes pointing at the HTM file rather than the method he previously chose.

  • What file format can be used to play 3D videos on Panasonic TVPlasma3D with USB PenDrive?

    What file format can be used to play 3D videos on Panasonic TVPlasma3D with USB PenDrive?
    I writed to Panasonic Italy support about this question:
    "What file format can be used to play 3D videos on Panasonic TVPlasma3D with USB PenDrive?"
    Panasonic writed me in a very poor manner and said me:
    "...riproduce formati: AVCHD (anche 3D), SD-Video, DivXHD, JPEG, MP3, AAC tramite USB e Slot SD/SDHC/SDXC card..."
    "...formato : AVCHD estensione file nella SD: .MTS..."
    I made a few videos edited with PremiereProCS5 and exported as H.264 Coding and .mp4 file extension, all side by side, with layout 1920x1080pixels that includes two stretched frames at 960x1080 pixels.
    This is the same image layout that uses the Panasonic 3D consumer camcorder "HDC-SDT750", that record AVCHD videos with file extension .MTS.
    I also tried to export another video as MPEG2 with .mpg file extension.
    But at the store the tests failed, and I cannot see anything!
    My questions are:
    1) What format can be used by PremiereProCS5 for exporting the Stereoscopic 3D videoclip and play them via USB port on Panasonic TVPlasma3D such "TX-P46VT20"?
    2) What codec should be used? H.264? H.264-bluray?
    3) What file extension should have the movie file? .mp4?
    Many Thanks!
    Horsepower0171.

    -I already read entirely those threads, but nothing about stereoscopic 3D AVCHD movies through USB port, on Panasonic TVPlasma3D.
    (Also, Sony said me that is not possible to play 3D videos on your 3DTV through USB port).
    I tried to made a H.264 videoclip, with .MP4 extension, at 960x1080p side-by-side layout, but nothing was displayed, and black screen.
    I think that just the AVCHD movies, with .MTS extension, that comes from Panasonic consumer camcorder "HDC-SDT750", can play the 3D videos via HDMI cable, not USB port.
    But not the exported videos from PremierePro via USB port.
    I seen this tutorial from David K Helmly:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/dhelmly#p/a/u/1/_YtF0c2bmkw
    Dave export the video from PremiereProCS5 as "MPEG2-bluray" format with "Match Source Attributes (HighQuality)" Preset, and build the Bluray Disc in EncoreCS5, with the footage as MPEG2 with .m2v file extension:
    1) Anyone tried to play correctly in 3D, those MPEG2-.m2v side-by-side files, in Panasonic3DTV, with BlurayDiscReader?
    2) Why MPEG2.m2v side-by-side?
    3) The official standard stereoscopic 3D format, is not the .MVC (MultiViewCoding) for Bluray3D Disc?
    I am confused!
    Help!

  • Video does not play: "Either windows doesn't support the item's file format......"

    Error message
    "Either windows doesn't support the item's file format or the content doesn't match the extension"
    I have both a Yoga and a Thinkpad 2. The Yoga is running Win 8 and the Thinkpad 2 has 8.1 Preview.
    I have copied multiple video files which are in either .avi or .mp4 containers.
    Some will play and some will not. I have installed all sorts of codec packages and players and the problem is the same. I though it might be a container problem so I tried to convert the file and the converter I used did not work.
    Searched the Internet and nothing really useful was found.
    Then I discovered a common thread. In the files that played, the codec information displayed when checking in properties and the ones that did not play, did not have the information.
    I have a video file on a USB flash drive and checked the properties and the information was there and I could play it from the flash drive. I copied it to my desktop and the file would not play. In checking, the codec information was not present.
    There seems to be an error in copying files where the requisite codec information is not being transferred.
    I have tried this multiple times and multiple permutations of transferring. Sometimes it will play from the desktop and will not play after transfer to the microSD card.
    Each time when it plays, the information is there and each time it does not play, the information is not there.

    I am not a computer savy person.  I just need to plug in and have the machine do what it should do.
    Not a problem, but that indicates you have a lot to learn.
    File extensions like mpeg, mp4., avi, wmv, etc. are just wrappers. It is like a box the audio or video content is placed inside. The audio and video content must be encoded with a codec before it is placed in the box. There are thousands of codecs. Not all are installed on your Mac. You must have the same codec installed that encoded the video in order to play it. So, while Quicktime does support mpeg wrapper, it may not have the codecs to decode the internal video.
    Some programs have lots of the codecs available to them, like VLC, Niceplayer, MPlayerX, etc.
    You can also get "plug-ins" for Quicktime that add codecs to Quicktime, like Perian. Although it is no longer being developed, Perian still works well.
    Why is it so difficult? Probably because they are always working on ways to compress the video to get better playback.

  • Stop auto download and play of embedded video

    How do I stop automatic download and play of embedded video on a website in Safari
    Please help
    Bruce

    There is a preference setting in ClickToFlash (2.8.5) that will change default from autoplay to preload for html5 videos (Safari preferences, then select ClickToFlash, and click the checkbox to access settings for ClickToFlash, then go to the Media Player tab).  That seemed to fix the problem. This should be built into Safari but apparently is not.

    I can't open one Quick Time movie file.  It says: Quick time player can't open (names file) because the movie's file format isn't recognized.  Only happens on this one file.  All the others of a two hour shoot are fine.
    Any ideas what's happened and is there some way to open that file and retrieve what's on it?

    Thanks this was useful. I have been ripping my audiobooks and I was finding that they would get uploaded to iCloud in the process, which in itself was fine, but then iTunes would not let me change the media type to Audiobook, which is annoying as it effects how iTunes treats the media. Like showing you the skip back 10 seconds button.
    The general outline here helped me work around the issue and change the media type before the media was re-uploaded to iCloud.

    Is this a Yosemite issue? Not being able to play older QuickTime 7 files properly? I'm not sure what else the issue could be since everything seems to work fine in 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 (unfortunately, I have been unable to test this in 10.10 or 10.10.1). Maybe I'm overcomplicating a simple issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Some very interesting observations which peaked my own curiosity due to on-again, off-again nature of the playback. I suspect this is either a "bug" or represents content handling changes that are currently in the process of  "evolving." Not a web site programmer so I used iWeb to run some contrast-comparison tests on how audio was handled by the plug-in software when directly accessing the content by its URL and via the page embed strategies. My results mirrored yours in that:
    1) All legacy codecs tested (A-Law, IMA, QDM2, QPV, and u-Law) in an MOV file container played correctly in the QT 7 player.
    2) The same files all played correctly when content was accessed by the plug-in software directly using the URL reference.
    3) None of the files containing legacy audio compression formats would play audio using the plug-in software using a web page embedding strategy.
    4) An MP4 (H.264/AAC) version of you original clip played correctly in all instances.
    5) Replacing your QDM2 audio track with an AAC audio track in the original MOV file allowed the file to play correctly in all instances.
    Based on these observations, I suspect the problem is in the way the software is currently programmed to handle (or rather ignore) the embedded strategy content. However, as you indicated, it is probably time to update your files. Not only did the H.264/AAC version of your original file play in all instances, but it used less than 45% of the file space/bandwidth for the settings I employed as compared to your original "0706_split_brain_red.mov" original file.

  • Playing hidden embedded videos in swf?

    Hi all,
    A plea for help with a problem encountered.
    Firstly a big thank you for the help recieved in solving a previous problem, with animations not resetting themselves of frame reset!
    My next issue is as follows:
    The project I am working on involves a lot of video and Flash games that use video as part of the game.  The current animation has 5 videos embedded and are set to .visible=false at the very start.  The user is then asked to drag an object over various parts of an image.  If they drag the object to the wrong part of the image, the video is set to visible.true and is played. On video completion it is set to .visible=false and the original image is displayed with the user given another attempt at dragging the object to the correct area of the image.
    The game works perfectly when published in Flash, but on import to captivate, I get the dragable object and the image, but when the object is dragged to the incorrect sport, nothing happens and the video is not played.  The whole animation just freezes :-(
    So, does anyone else have any expereience with hiding/playing embedded videos in an animation with captivate? Any tips?
    Thanks for any help!
    Tristan

    You've got to be kidding me.
    One and a half years ago, the product manager (Dennis Griffin) almost sounds surprised to learn that people actually want to use some of the features of Acrobat within the Adobe Reader app. Fast forward to today, and nothing has changed. Adobe Reader still can't play videos, still doesn't offer most of the interactive features that the PDF format (wasn't that your baby, Adobe?) provides, and still is the most basic of apps. Granted, you can get a third-party app like "PDF Expert", but I find it hard to justify to my customers to stick with the PDF format if they need to purchase a separate app just to use their files, because Adobe hasn't managed for the last 18 months to get their own technology working.

  • Flash videos embedded in Facebook don't appear when played

    My computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Internet Explorer 11, and Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145. I have Microsoft Security Essentials and an activated copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware protecting me from viruses and malware, and my IT department confirms that there is no malware infection playing a role here.
    I am, however, having an odd and very frustrating problem with playing all Adobe Flash videos which are embedded inside of Facebook.com, including those which are shared from YouTube. Opening the same YouTube video in YouTube.com does not produce the same behavior - YouTube videos ALWAYS play fine on YouTube.com (whether embedded or full-screen), but NEVER play fine when they are embedded inside of a Facebook post.
    NOTE: The same videos work EXACTLY AS EXPECTED in Firefox and Google Chrome, so this seems to be an IE-specific issue. This started back when I was running IE10 and has continued over into IE11.
    Here is what happens in both Internet Explorer 10 and 11:
    In my Facebook news feed, I locate a video I would like to watch. Before pressing Play, I see a still shot from the video with the Play icon transposed on top of the picture.
    I click the Play icon to play the video in Facebook's embedded mode (where I can see other news feed messages above and below the video).
    The picture disappears and turns to white (no borders, just white). Along the bottom edge of the video is a bar containing the play/pause, volume, maximize, etc. buttons. Behind these buttons I can see a faded-yet-moving view of the bottom edge of the video, but the rest of the video area is completely white.
    I hear the audio playing, even though I can't see any picture other than that lower edge I just described.
    If I click the maximize button at the bottom right edge of the video, the video opens to fill the screen and the video picture suddenly appears and runs as expected.
    If I press ESC to get out of maximize view, the embedded Facebook screen (with the video again back to the news feed context) returns, but the picture goes white again just as in step 3, with the audio still playing as in step 4.
    Right clicking on the offending video brings up a drop-down menu indicating that the video is using Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145.
    Other videos shared in Facebook, like those from vimeo.com, play without any problem in the same Facebook.com news feed view, regardless of whether they are in embedded or in full-screen mode. Only videos using Adobe Flash Player seem affected here.
    I have tried the following:
    Uninstalled Adobe Flash Player. Reboot. Open Facebook.com, find the video in the news feed, which indicates that Adobe Flash must be installed. Click the link provided and install Adobe Flash from adobe.com. Return to the video in my news feed on facebook.com and click play. Same behavior as described above - no change.
    Added facebook.com and youtube.com to my Trusted Sites list. No change.
    Added facebook.com and youtube.com to IE's compatibility view, exited all instances of the browser, reopened. No change.
    Checked for unusual browser add-ons - none found.
    Cleared web cache, deleted cookies, reset browsers to default settings and default advanced settings - no change
    Checked Windows Updates - all updates are current.
    Ran full scans of Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. No malware or issues found. No issues found with roguekiller, adwcleaner, and other malware-related tools either.
    Any suggestions for me here? I'd really just like to click Play and see the embedded video like everybody else can. FYI, all other computers (running Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8) on my network play these same videos in IE9, IE10, and IE11 without the problems I'm having with this one. I'd sure appreciate any help you can offer!

    Not that the moment.  It's not ideal, but you have two working options, which is better than none.
    In all likelihood, the content providers are going to have to change code to accommodate IE11 and higher.  I spent a bunch of time this week reviewing some technical guidance that we're putting together for developers, but the long and short of it is that IE wants to developers to stop writing code that handles IE differently than other browsers.
    IE has a history of not exactly working like other browsers, and for a multitude of reasons (including how JavaScript and Flash communicate to each other), developers as a standard practice wrote a lot of code to specifically handle these quirks in IE.
    To get out of this impossible position where they want markup to be the same for all browsers, but having all of this code targeted specifically at IE because of the long legacy of being problematic for web developers, IE masquerades as something else and disables features like conditional comments that allowed code to target IE.
    The net result is that a lot of stuff is broken in IE11.  We're working closely with Microsoft to be good partners and help them through this transition with a few technical changes on our end, but developers are going to have to change their code and/or update the underlying libraries all over the web.  This is not going to happen overnight.  Big content providers with more resources will probably move faster than smaller sites with less developers, but it's going to be months or years before all of this shakes out.
