EMCLI Variable File

Hello,
I tried to create a service by using the create_service command ...
I've exported the template.xml files which I have created in gridcontrol.
But in the manual is written that i need a variable File for each Template but i cant find anywhere a discription how to build it... is it an xml file or an plain .txt file with name:value pair .... Does anyonw have experience with it who can share it ?
thanks
Felix

Hi Felix,
Looking at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/em.102/b40004/cli_verb_ref.htm (Create_service) using vars:Variables file name is between []. So it is not required to use it.
I think the Variables file name has to have the same structure as used in apply_template_tests. The manual is vague about this point.
The variables file format is as follows:
<variables xmlns="template">
<variable name="<name1>" value="<value1>"/>
<variable name="<name2>" value="<value2>"/>
</variables>

    How do you get the (variable) file path and name in a text element (label) in LCD? If you save the PDF and afterwards relocate it, it should update the values. Is that actually possible?

    Does anyone have any advice on this issue?
    Thanks in advance,

  • FormulaCalc error when using variablesin variable files?

    I defined two variables RForce_ and IntLength_' in variables files:
    as following:
    IntLength_ : I <1700>
    RForce_ : R <1.4314>
    in vbs file,I have following:
    Call FormulaCalc("Ch('PSA_Kraft') := ('RForce_'-'RForce_'/'IntLength_'*'Gurtweg')")
    When I run the vbs file,diadem reports following error:
    The formula
    Ch('PSA_Kraft') := ('RForce_'-'RForce_'/'IntLength_'*'Gurtweg')
    contains an invalid mathematical operation .. ('RForce_'>-<'RForce_'/'IntLength_'*'G.. with text!
    When I don't use variables, as following:
    Call FormulaCalc("Ch('PSA_Kraft') := (1.4314-0.000842*'Gurtweg')")
    my vbs file can run correctly.
    Anything wrong with my code?

    Hi Junwei You,
    Yes, there is a problem with the formula calculator expression.  You need to use the ' character only when you are referencing existing data channels, not for VAS file variables.  Also, I strongly recommend that you always use the full Ch('ChannelName') construct when you reference an existing data channel.  Try this instead:
    Call FormulaCalc("Ch('PSA_Kraft') := RForce_ - RForce_/IntLength_*Ch('Gurtweg')")  Note that you may need to insert further parentheses to specify the exact order of the / and * operators.

  • Local variable files is never read

    How do i fix an error that reads "The local variable files is never read"?

    It's a warning, not an error. Your code will still compile.
    You fix it by either getting rid of that variable, or using it. What's the point of having a variable if you never read its value?

  • Are there any compatibility issues with Mavericks and EMC Celerra File shares, particularly with the SMB protocols?

    Our company uses a EMC Celerra file share, but most of our users are Windows based. We have a small production department of 7 macs. Starting with Snow Leopard, we noticed some issues with SMB. We were able to resolve those issues, but had to wait to upgrade to Lion because there were additional SMB or permissions concerns with the Celerra file share and Lion. Now, we are again waiting to upgrade to Mavricks because of the way it handles user permissions. Does anyone using Mavericks now also connect to a EMC Celerra file share? Thanks!

  • Failed to Download Variable File

    Hi Everyone,
    Been having issues with getting SCCM setup in our lab. Everyone in the lab is new to SCCM, so lets start with that. I've installed ADK 8.1 and MDT 2013 alongside Config Mgr 2012 R2. My primary issue is with the boot image, or at least I think it is. I've
    downloaded the WinPE Drivers from Dell. Ive tried using the WinPE4 and WinPE5.  The machine is able to PXE and downloads the boot.wim, but as soon as it finishes the machine reboots. I've hit F8 to see if it is getting an IP, and it is. It is also picking
    up the storage devices.
    I've tried uninstalling WDS, removing the C:\WIndows\temp, rebooting, removing Remoteinstall, rebooting and reinstalling WDS, but that hasn't fixed it yet.  Below is my smts.log file.

  • How to read variable file name into ODI

    Hello everyone,
    I apologize in advance if this has already been answered - I've done searches both on Google and this OTN area and have not found an answer to my query.
    I would like to do the following via ODI:
    1) rename a file in a specific directory
    2) process the file
    2) move the file to a backup directory
    3) rename the file again
    The file name is going to change everytime this process runs, as date is appended to it. I could create a variable with a system date in it and concatenate that into the filename before processing it, but I am not sure when they will run the ODI routine. Therefore, I would prefer to play it safe by doing something like a wildcard search in DOS.
    Example:
    Filename = TestFile12072010.csv
    I would like to:
    1) rename TestFile12072010.csv to TestFile.csv
    2) process the file
    3) move the file to another directory
    4) rename the file to TestFile<processdate>.csv
    I was hoping to do the first step using a DOS command that reads in TestFile*.csv. Note: I would expect there to be only 1 file with this naming convention and file extension in the directory.
    I have tried creating a stored procedure that uses the Operating System type, but it runs without stopping. I have also tried ODIFileCopy and OS Command. Obviously, I am doing something wrong since I am getting errors.
    Any guidance would be much appreciated! :)
    Thanks!

    Issue was due to a syntax error. Case closed.

    I'm setting up a book consisting of 34 individual files. Each filename with this structure: "1.4 - Chapter name", "2.4 - Chapter name" etc.
    On the top of the masterpage I have insert the variable file_name in a text-box. This is straight forward and works as should.
    Now my problem: how can I format the variable, so the numerical chapter No. is separated from the text part? My aim is to place the numerical on each page aligned away from spine and to place the text part centered.
    Of course it is possible to override the MP in each document, but would require 78 manual interventions (34 documents left/right),
    Has anyone a solution, or found a way to accomplish what I try to achieve?
    FYI I'm a rookie with InDesign :-)

    As far as InDesign is concerned a variable is a single character, so it cannot be split. You can sometimes accomplish what you need to do with a Running Header (Character Style) variable by assigning various character styles to different parts of a text string (the styles can be nothing more than style names with no attributes), but I don't see a way to get the file name automatically and be able to split it.

  • How to call a variable file path in javascript

    Hi,
    My objective is to capture a file path on mac and windows. However, this file path gets changed with various users.
    For example the path is:
    c:\user\username\AppData\Local\Temp\myfolder------> this is for windows machine
    /users/username/Library/Application Support/tempfolder/Temporary Files/-------> this is for mac machine
    As you can see, the path will be same for all the machines. Only the difference will be in searching the user and username at the start of file path. Rest folders will remain same on all the machines.
    Is there any grep pattern through which I can call this complete path in a variable for all the users.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Abhi

    Hi,
    You are able to check OS:
    var currOS = $.os;
    regarding to value of this string you can switch to various paths

  • Data load from variable file names

    I have multiple files that I want to load into a cube, each starting with the same 5 characters but ending differently. EG GM1010104 GM1010204 What's the best option for MAXL script to automate this data load ? Can you use a wildcard name in the script to pick up anything starting with GM101**** ?

    No - you need to specify the file name as it appears properly (I've never tried it but I am pretty sure it wouldn't work). One solution to this problem though is to have a shell script (or DOS commands) auto-generate an ESSCMD/MaxL script based on the files that exist in a directory.Most scripting environments should allow you to loop through a list of files that match some pattern - you can then create a script with the results and execute it.Another option is to build a MaxL script that accepts a parameter (file name) and have a shell script call it as it loops through the file list.Hope that helps.Regards,Jade----------------------------------Jade ColeSenior BI ConsultantClarity [email protected]

  • Variable file path

    In File curfile1, I am fixing my path and sending that path in ReadFile. But I do not want to fix my path, instead whatever path I select while using my user interface should be my curfile1. My code below with fixed path is working fine:
    private void fileButActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt)
         JFileChooser chooser=new JFileChooser();
         chooser.setCurrentDirectory(curfile1);
         chooser.setMultiSelectionEnabled(true);
         int state=chooser.showOpenDialog(null);
         File[] files=chooser.getSelectedFiles();
         String[] filenames=getFilenames(files);
         for(int i=0;i<filenames.length;i++)
              try
                       ReadFile(curfile1,filenames);
              catch (IOException ex)
                   ex.printStackTrace();
    File curfile1=new File("D:\\temp\\");
    Could anyone please tell me what updations I need to make in my code.

    In my user interface when I select files from
    any path other than D:\\temp\\, it's still
    trying to locate those files in the path
    D:\\temp\\, because I have mentioned as
    File curfile1=new File(D:\\temp\\);. So please
    tell me how to specify to pick up files from any
    path. I do not want to fix my path.Why aren't you just removing new File("D:\\temp\\") in that case?

  • Formatting OLE object to variable file paths.

    I am currently using the trial version (2008) of Crystal Reports...at least for the next 7 1/2 days!  I have worked through all my problems/questions except one.  I am trying to insert a SolidWorks drawing document as an OLE object (linked) & the file path for the SW drawing needs to vary by the part name.  I placed a column in my Excel worksheet titled "Drawing File" & have tried several different formats to point the OLE to the correct file.  Thus far I am successful only in showing the original file the OLE object was created with.  The file path is Z:
    Jesse\Crystal Reports Tests\9-15-2009\FILENAME.slddrw
    I've tried adding hyperlinks to my Excel document, & I've typed out the address to the letter, but I just can't seem to get it to work.  Can anyone offer a solution here?

    I got the format right from the start.  Crystal '08 simply would not link to a SolidWorks file as it will a JPEG file (or any other picture file).  So be warned...if you want a SolidWorks drawing to show on your Crystal Report, you MUST save it as a picture file, which as SolidWorks users know, puts EXTREME limitations on a super product since your drawings & models are dynamically related.
