Emeding video in a flash project

I am trying to embed a video file into my flash project and I want to to
play till the end and jump to a different frame in the timeline. I tried to emport the video into flash and it says th
at the file is not supported. Can I not do it or do I need to convert the mpeg file into some sort of fla file?

among the formats you can play without converting:
MP3, MP4A, H.264

I have read on the forum ways to accomplish this but it isn't working for me. I have created a quiz in flash cs4 actionscript 2 that works. I would like a correct answer to reference a video and play it, then go to another frame. I have imported the flv file onto a frame by file/import/import video/ and I have tried both the external component and loading it on a website and referencing it. When I preview this it plays the quiz and goes to the video and simply stops. I don't know if my script in actions is incorrect, or perhaps the way I am referencing the video. Is there a tutorial, or step by step process to do this?

Importing Video into Flash Project ?

Hi, I want to ask you about how can I import video into my Flash Project and make it possible to view ?
I tried to choose embed FLV but the sound quality is quite shity and the video quality too. Furthermore, It expands the timeline which is too long because my video is quite long too. It said that it can be at least 16000 Frames to run.
Now I choose Import -> Import Video -> Load External ..... and then I put it on one scene. The thing is that when I test it, it looks like I have to expands the timeline too so that I can play the videos fully. And It will slow down the computer so much when I want to export. Is there any way I can play the video only by just creating one keyframe ?
Please help me.

i choose Load -> External and it gives me some FLVPlayback in the library too ... But how I can make it relate to the previous scene and it can play the whole video and then back to the first scene...
First scene is where people can choose some option that I made of ...
A is where I link to the scene 3 of my project
B comes to Scene 4
C comes to Scene 5
What I'm stucking right now is how can I made the C choice for people to choose and they can see the videos. I tried to drag the FLVPlayback to the scene 6 and it shows some result. But I think if I want to watch the whole video I need to expand the timeline as much as possible and I really don't want that. Is there any actionscript code or some tips that I can make it possible? Sorry because I'm a newbie so I don't understand your words. Can you explain it more ?

Playing video from a flash streaming server

Hi I've been trying to insert a video in a flash project that is hosted on a flash media server. I put the address wich by the way is rtmp://p8bezucu.rtmphost.com/testevideo/portfolio.flv and it doesn't work, I'm pretty sure that the address is right, am I misssing something? Thanks a lot

Have you tried dropping the .flv from the source url string? I think if the FLVPlayback component sees .flv it thinks it is a progressive download instead of a stream.

How to export a flash project with a changing frame rate to a video

I have a Flash project that is a series of roughly 1000 images. The result of the images is a simple animation, and there is music imported on a separate layer.
There are moments in the music that I wanted to line up with certain frame changes, and there are sections of the music that I wanted to match up with a faster (double-time) frame rate.
I used this code in several places in the a code layer:
stage.frameRate = x;
The result is exactly what I want in SWF -- the animation speeds up and slows down at the exact right moments to match up with the music track, but it seems like it's just not possible to export this variable frame rate project to a video file?
According to the accepted answer on this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4019538, it seems that:
The export function in Flash Pro doesn't transcribe *frames*, rather it plays the Flash animation and records it like a camcorder
If that's true, then I would think there is a way to record a variable frame rate project into a video -- does anybody know if this is possible?

That or Premiere would both get the job done. After Effects might be more desirable as it has a feature called Time Remapping (right-click on the video layer, Time->Enable Time Remapping). You can add keyframes to any point in a video and then drag them around to speed up or slow down the video. That'll allow for very precise tweaks.
Finally all I'd suggest is when you jump into your next project, make a quick dummy test project to see if the software you're using is easily capable of producing what you want. It'll solve the headache of completing the project only to land where you are now. Now you know Flash won't play nicely with scripts and Export Movie. If your desired end result was always a video I'd probably use video editing software to make the video. There's some free stuff out there if you really look, but no, it won't be as nice as After Effects or Premiere by any stretch. Although when you see how amazing After Effects is, you'll probably want to buy it .

Embedding YouTube file in flash project

Hi guys,
Could someone please advise me how to embed a YouTube video file in particular place of my Flash project, should I do this in action panel or in final html file.
Here is exactly what I'd like to do: On this website www.aye-aye-media.com under 'Film' panel I have some movie samples, and after clicking buttons on right side I'd like to play embedded YouTube clips instead of flv.samples uploaded to my ftp. as it takes too long for customers to download them

Modifying video chat in flash with actionscript

Hi,
I have develop an application wherein i have 2 avpresence,1
connectionlight,1 simpleconnect,1 peoplelist and 1 chat component
on the stage.now i want that when particular user is selected from
the peoplelist only then his video should be displayed to me and
not before that.I have searched a lot but not successful in getting

Ok... I put that code in my flash project and verified that
there are no errors in the code itself. However, when I try to test
the movie I get the following error:
Warning: Action on button or MovieClip instances are not
supported in Action Script 3.0. All scripts on object instances
will be ignored.
Thus, when I do a mouse over on that particular country on
the map, nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Making a music video using Adobe flash - big help needed !!

am trying to make a music video for a uni project, one of the things I'm trying to do in the video is to fade in a word at a time in whilst keeping them all aligned properly as a sentence - is there an easy way to do this?
Any other hints or tips on how to make a video but one especially for music would be much appreciated !! I'm just using Adobe Flash and NOT Adobe Premier, thank you !!

Uploading Flash Project

I am new to Flash. Am trying to upload my first project...
Using Dreamweaver 8 in conjunction with Flash 8. I have created a
very simple slide show with Flash with a menu of text buttons which
link to several video files. The project plays perfectly in my
computer, but on the web, I'm only seeing the menu... minus the
videos. After hours of searching, I cannot figure out what I've not
done. I already had all of the video files uploaded, as I had
previously used the same ones in an HTML document. I uploaded the
.swf and .fla file that was published / exported to my Dreamweaver
files. I was anticipating seeing those video files, as they are a
part of my project... but the only files I found were the above two

the videos should appear to the right of the menu. I have
separate videos for each menu line. I used the flash slide show
application to build this menu. It's working beautifully here...
I'm wondering if I've uploaded all the files I should have. All of
the video files were already previously uploaded into that site, as
I had used them in a different way via Dreamweaver... so I know the
videos are operational. Do you think these files should be in a
certain order, once uploaded to the FTP host?

Rendering HD Video Correctly for Flash (CS3 version)

Hi everyone,
For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out what the "magic selections" are for converting my HD video into a flash mp4 video are. I can get the mp4, but flash doesn't like it.
Before I continue, here are the specs:
Programs:
Premiere Pro CS3
Flash Professional CS3
Equipment:
Canon XHA1s HD camcorder, recording at 1080p @60i
Problems I am facing:
I can convert using the H.264 codec to create a HD mp4 file, but flash will not play it.
My Workflow:
Okay, I will start from the beginning.
-I start a new project in Premiere.
-I select "HD1080i 60i" as my format.
-I capture video off of the camcorder in premiere.
-The video looks great, and is definately in HD quality. I pull the captured video into my source pane, then set my in and out points.
-I insert those points into my program pane.
-I export my video using adobe media encoder.
-I select H.264 as my format.
-I select a custom preset.
-I make the size of my frame half the size of the original file.
-I set the framerate to 30.
-The TV standard is set to NTSC.
-Then I open Flash CS3.

-When I preview my video file, an error message pops up saying that the URL has to be an fla file!
Ugh...
ALSO my files are absolutely HUGE!!! this file for instance became about 86 megs!! Is there any way to downsize without loosing a huge amount of quality?
SO...if you want to try to correct me, be my guest. OR if you just have a way of doing it that works please, do share! I'm getting pretty frustrated with this thing...

If you're trying to create a flash video, you need to create an FLV not an MP4. While H264 is readable by the latest versions of Flash, the normal extension for h264 Flash is F4V. MP4 in CS3 is primarily used to create blu-ray or perhaps XDCam files.
Why not output FLV and be done with it?

No audio in some of the video clips in my project CS5.5

Hi,
I'm in need of some help. I've been working on this project which has been lying on ice for a while. During that while my system disc crashed, but I had the project file and source files backed up to my external HDD. I accually ran the project from the external drive when my system HDD was up and running.
So the disc crashed, and now I started the project up again. First thing that came up was that the scratch disc was unavailable or locked, so it was set to my documents. I reccon thats the default location when starting a project if non has been set prior to that? In that case my old documents folder was most likley my scratch disc since I'm new to this program and probably did not change the default setting.
THE ISSUE: Some of the video files in the time line wont play the sound of said video file. Some will. Also, even if I open the source file in a new project it wont play back the sound of the clip. The only thing that works is to move and rename the clip, then I get the sound in premiere pro. Also the original clip has sound in external media players. So this lead me to the conclusion that premiere pro saves the audio file somewhere (in the scratch disc location?) that is now empty since my system crashed and I reinstalled premiere pro?
Is my theory correct, and is there some way to like point out the original file and make premiere pro disregard any old audio files that it has saved in some other location?
I hope everything is clear enough, otherwise just ask if you need some other information. I did not attach any hardware specs, because my sound otherwise works fine, even in premiere pro depending on the clip.

It did not do any good, however I found a folder with Media Cache files, on another internal drive that I had before my system disc crashed. As far as I know I did not change the location of the media cache since then and that folder contains .cfa and .pek files for what seems to be all the audio and video files for my project.
Can there be some error here? Can I clear it some how and recreate it from the original source files?

To select multiple clips, hold down the command key as you click multiple clips. Then you can drag them all at once.
To drag all clips at once, select one, then Edit/Select All. Then drag them all.

How can I create multiple versions of a video within the same project?

OK...this is a probably a very basic question but I'm not sure how to word it clearly.
How can I create multiple versions of a video within the same project? What I mean is that I have a bout 50 minutes of video and I want to make two DVDs using different clips from this original 50 minutes of footage. It would be a real pain to have to re-import the video AGAIN for the second DVD. I suppose I could drop anything I don't want to burn to DVD back into the clips pane but that would wipe out all my transitions wouldn't it? I want to save each project in their “raw” form so I can burn additional DVDs later otherwise I would just do them one at a time and not care about one of them being destroyed.

You can't. You make separate projects using the same or different clips, segments, transitions, titles, etc. You can even duplicate the first project and then modify/make the desired changes in the duplicated project. Each project can then be burned as a different DVD or as different titles on the same DVD if there is enough room.

Can I use a DRM-Protected Music video in my IDVD project.

Can I download a DRM protected music video to a IDVD project and burn a DVD. The music video is not showing up in the media window in IDVD. Only ITunes Plus songs and videos, make it to the media window. I can't drag the video directly off ITunes. They say, I can burn a up to seven copy's of the DMR protected video/music, but how.. Thanks for any help.

Didn't work, Window came up saying "Could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats. I was able to burn it to a DVD, it came up as a MPEG 4 file. Then I first went to the ITunes tool bar Preference>Advanced>importing>importing using>Aiff Encoder. Then tool bar again File> import. Music video imported another copy to ITunes library. Right mouse clicked second copy> convert selection to Aiff. Then "Could not convert" window came up.
