Empty file created in Receiver FTP content conversion
Hi,
The receiver FTP channel is generating an empty file.
The entry for the message in sxi_monitor is successful, also the target payload is having values.
Still the file content conversion is generating an empty file.
The three parameters given in content conversion are:
1. fieldFixedLengths
2. fieldNames
3. end Separator
Kindly help.
Thanks,
John
Hi John
I hope your structure is like this :
Root Node
...Child Node
.......field1
.......field2 & so on...
If so, in recordset structure add the name of the Root Node too. I faced the same issue sometime back.
Use the same parameters for Root Node that you are using for Child Node.
Apart from this check the payload in Message Display tab(communication channel monitoring) in RWB.

Empty file handling in Receiver File adapter (FCC - Premature end of file)
Hi
My interface is Flat file to Flat File interface with file content conversion which is working fine in SAP PI 7.1 EHP1.
If I want to process the empty file from sender system, PI should place the same empty file in the receiver FTP Location as per my requirement.
I am facing the below error message when PI tries to place the empty file.
Message processing failed. Cause: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Premature end of file.
But if I am not using FCC, I am able to get the empty file at the receiver end.
Please suggest on this, If I am using FCC in the receiver side.
Thanks
GabrielHi Gabriel,
You can write a simple script to copy a file from source folder to target in case the fiel size is ZERO bytes. The script will not copy the file if the filesize is more than zero bytes, This will be processed normally by PI server. You can call the script from sender communication channel parameter : "RUN OS command before message processing". Could you please specify the Operating System (OS) you are using in your PI server.

Empty files are getting created at receiver FTP server
Hi Experts,
I have an Idoc to File scenario where I am sending an XML file to receiver FTP server.
Scenario is working fine but sometimes an empty file is getting generated at receiver FTP server.
I have already selected ignore empty file at receiver channel so issue is not within PI system configuration.
When I checked the message log I can see that almost all the files are getting created successfully without any issues, but
for some files/messages I can see that there are below error logs.
"Transmitting the message to endpoint <local> using connection IDoc_AAE_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections"
"Exception caught by adapter framework: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections."
And after there is again success message log in the same message and it creating a file successfully during that time stamp.
but the third party is sometime receiving empty file which I am not able to find in any trace or log (my file name is SD_timestamp.xml).
Can you please let me know what is the solution and what adjustments FTP server need to do in order to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rahul KulkarniThe error you are getting that says "Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections" has probably nothing to do with the empty files problem.
I second Hareesh Gampa that you first should try "temporary file creation". You might also need to tell the FTP owner that he should only pick up files with that are written completely and that do comply with a negotiated file name schema. The temp file should have another schema of course then. He should not pick up just every file that is written. See here for details

Receiver File Adapter: Problem with NewLine Content Conversion Parameter
Hello Everybody
On our SAP-XI (SAP NetWeaver 2004s, sp14) I have the scenario to send a price catalogue (IDoc PRICECATALOGUE.PRICECATALOGUE02) from SAP R/3 as csv PRICAT file to a file share.
In the receiver communication channel I have defined
Message Protocol = File Content Conversion
using the following RecordSet:
RecordSet = HeaderRow,MainBody
One header row is followed by one or more main body rows. The csv PRICAT message format demands that there is an empty row (i.e. one carriage return) between header and main body and another carriage return after the last main body row:
<Header Row>
carriage return
<MainBody 1>
<MainBody 2>
carriage return
As content conversion parameters I tried to use NewLine ('nl') to create the carriage returns in the file:
HeaderRow.fieldSeparator = ,
HeaderRow.endSeparator = 'nl' " new line
MainBody.fieldSeparator = ,
MainBody.endSeparator = 'nl'
Using the settings I have been able to created the carriage return at the end of the file but not the one between header and main body.
As workaround I have used the following approach:
" Add the following XSLT mapping between header and body:
<SeparatorLine>
<value>
<xsl:value-of select=" '' "/>
</value>
</SeparatorLine>
RecordSet and parameters have been changed accordingly:
RecordSet = HeaderRow,SeparatorLine,MainBody
HeaderRow.fieldSeparator = ,
HeaderRow.endSeparator = 'nl'
SeparatorLine.fieldFixedLength = 0,0 " sic!
MainBody.fieldSeparator = ,
MainBody.endSeparator = 'nl'
Has anybody an idea why I failed to receive the first carriage return and has somebody a more elegant solution?
Kind Regards
UweHi,
Thanks for reply. I have already used 'nl'.
When i open into the notepad it is showing [] boxes rather then new line.
e.g. 1 [] 2 []
but when we open into wordpad it opens properly.
Customer wants when he opens in notepad it should show line by line.
e.g.
1
2
How should i convince to customer ? -
File Receiver Adapter - Content Conversion
Dear All,
We are using <b>DB to file Scenario</b>.We are using File Content conversion to get a File Comma Separated.
Data is picked up from the DB and our payload before getting in to File adapter is given below.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<ns6:AssoInfo_MT xmlns:ns6="urn:NDB2File2DB">
<AssoInfoList>
<AssoInfoNode>
<Name>ABCX</Name>
<ID>31154</ID>
<Salary>10000.0</Salary>
</AssoInfoNode>
<AssoInfoNode>
<Name>ASDAS</Name>
<ID>18978</ID>
<Salary>10000.0</Salary>
</AssoInfoNode>
</AssoInfoList>
</ns6:AssoInfo_MT>
In File content conversion we are giving
<b>AssoInfoNode.addHeaderLine = 0
AssoInfoNode.fieldSeparator = ,
AssoInfoNode.endSeparator = 'nl'</b>
We are getting output as
<b>ABCX,ASDAS</b>
But the <b>expected</b> output is
ABCX,31154,10000.0
ASDAS,18978,10000.0
What change we need to do in our File Receiver Adapter configuration.
Regards,
VedavyasHello,
Test without these 2 options :
AssoInfoNode.addHeaderLine = 0
AssoInfoNode.endSeparator = 'nl'
I think your problem is with the "endSeparator", it is not necessary.
A new line is created for each new AssoInfoNode automaticaly.

New Line in EBCDIC file created by receiver file adapter
Hi mates,
I've configured the receiver file adapter to create a file in EBCDIC format by specifyin the File encoding 'Cp037'. When the file is viewed on the AS400 system using the command DSPPFM, it appears as a continuous text instead of line-by-line. I've tried specifying 0x0D(CR), 0x0A(LF), 'nl' as the endSeparator for the record type in content conversion, but no luck. Still the file looks like a continuous text.
I learnt from the following links that the New Line character (NL or NEL) in AS400 is Unicode '0x85'.
<a href="http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4867251">OutputStreamWriter/InputSreamReader convert NEL to linefeed with Cp037 encoding</a>
<a href="http://search.cpan.org/~guido/libintl-perl-1.16/lib/Locale/RecodeData/IBM037.pm#CHARACTER_TABLE">CHARACTER TABLE</a>
But when I specify this '0x85' as the endSeparator, I get the error below as 0x85 (decimal equivalent 133) is not part of the standard ascii code i.e. basic 127 codes
<i>Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.NumberFormatException: Value out of range. Value:"85" Radix:16</i>
Is there any way I can produce the EBCDIC file with new line as end separator for records?
I appreciate your inputs.
thx in adv
praveenInstead of using binary mode for FTP and specifying encoding, endSeparator, I used the text mode and left the translation to the FTP server on AS400 system.
Desirably, it generated the file with right encoding and new line characters.

Mysterious empty files created on Windows server volume
We have several Mac Pros on our Windows network. Our IT staff is reporting that one of our Mac user's accounts is creating hundreds of thousands of empty files on one of the volumes. File names like '.dat9caa.00c'. Anyone run into something like that before?
Sounds like malware or a OS X glitch that keeps placing the hidden OS X files on Windows volumes
Remove the user data, delete the account and re-establish it and the data.
If it's contained in the user account that should clear it, if not, wipe the machine and reinstall OS X from a clone or reinstall by hand.
There is software that will prevent OS X from placing it's hidden files on Windows volumes, however interaction with OS X is wonky afterwards.

Archiving files sent by Receiver FTP Adapter ?
Hello,
we search for a solution to archive a file, which was sent by a receiver File/FTP Adapter (via FTP) to a ftp server.
in an other directory on the FTP server. (Similar to the standard function of the sender File/FTP Adapter)
Any Ideas ? A hint would be nice.
Thanks.

Dynamic file name in receive FTP file adapter
Hi, All,
I have a ABAP proxy -> FTP scenorio. The sender side MT is like this:
<Sender_MT>
<FileName>abc.txt</FileName>
<Record>
<TEXT>.......</TEXT>
<TEXT>.......</TEXT>
<TEXT> ......</TEXT>
</Record>
</Sender_MT>
I would like to output the data which are the values of the tags <TEXT> to a flat file with the file name of the value of <FileName>
I tried to use Variable Substitution in FTP CC. I set a val1 = payload:Sender_MT:1,FileName,1 . But I got an error says "Unknown structure 'ns0:Sender_MT' found in document'. I looked at the message monitoring. It shows payload <n0:Sender_MT>. not <ns0:Sender_MT>. I think that is why I got the error. Then I tried to use XSLT mapping. I set
<Receiver_MT>
<Record>
<xsl:value-of select="ns0:Sender_MT/Record"/>
</Record>
</Receiver_MT>
But I get an error says "XMLParser: No data allowed here: (hex) 32, 64, 66(:main:, row:1, col:3): ".
Could anybody help me out? Thanks!
Jack
Edited by: Jack Mathew on Jun 4, 2009 6:22 PMDude this looks purely like a variable reference error. Have you mapped the the Filename field in the target too? UR XSLT mapping dosent seem to indicate that... run ur mapping test to check that..
Second ... if ur source structure is hierarchcially similar then var 1 should be -
payload:Receiver_MT:1,FileName,1

Hi,
I am using Receiver FTP content conversion and generating a CSV file
I have 6 records output in the file and unfortunately starts with an empty two lines.
I have used the following parameters
File Encoding: UTF-8
FCC Parameters:
Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Record.fieldSeparator= ,
Let me know whether anything else needs to be given on the same.
Regards
KrishHi Prashanth,
Thanks, I thought the issue seems to be with the sender file adapter, so suggested.
Krish, Please ignore the previous message from me.
Krish, the parameters specified by you should be ok to work.

Creating a file with content conversion
Hi all,
I have a scenario in XI which i create a file in it,
I want to create the file with the content conversion option but with no field separator.
I have an error message - "File adapter receiver channel is not initialized. Unable to proceed: null" if i don't use the fieldSeperator option.
I don't want to use this option, I want the file to be created without separators.

File Content Conversion at receiver end
Hi
My XML structure is

<ns0:MT_CreatePurchaseOrder xmlns:ns0="http://demo.com/POCreate">
<recordset>
<POHeader> (min 1 max 1)

<POPromiseScheduleLine> (min 1 max unbounded)
</POPromiseScheduleLine>
</recordset>
</ns0:MT_CreatePurchaseOrder>
I am mapping this particular structure from Idoc orders05(PO create). My client needs the out file as txt with tab as delimiter and should be one line.(Nodes POLineItem and POScheduleline will repeat)
Help me out what should be passed as Content conversion Parameters..
Thanks in advance

Receiver File content conversion - NO Output
Hi, yesterday i posted already to this topic but i chose to make a new thread.
I have an IDoc2File Scenario where i put the generated File to the filesystem of the XI-Server.
I try to do a file content conversion at the receiver side. I already read several blogs and also the official documentation (which is kind of bad - because the arne't posted all supported parameters which could be used on the recordset)
But anyway, the is a txt file written but without any details inside, no data is deliverd.
I do a message mapping and try to put only some data to the end-file.
here is my MT which i try to convert:
MT_Tafel
++TafelRecordset
+++TafelDetailsStructure
++++TAFIST
++++TAFSOLL
My parameters at the receiver communication channel are:
Recordset: TafelDetailsStructure
TafelDetailsStructure.endSeparator = 'nl'
TafelDetailsStructure.addHeader = 0
TafelDetailsStructure.fieldSeparator = ,
I have the right message protocol, i am trying to write a simple text file, i have no file-coding like ASCII, file is directly written into an empty one - and that's all.
The file is written but without data inside.
Do i have to announce the filednames i want to write? Like TafelDetailsStructure.fieldNames??
Do i have to add Parameters concerning the tags on the higher level, like TafelRecordset?
Is there a general overview about all parameters you can use on this file content conversion?
Can anybody help me with my scenario - i have no clue what i have done wrong. Communcation channel says everthing is fine, message succesfully transfered.
best regards, Jenshi,
you need to mention the names of the field by
TafelDetailsStructure.fieldNames where u need to specify the filed names.
and also chk the similar thread
