Enable commenting bar in web browser

Does anyone know how to enable the commenting toolbar while in the web browser?  It is my understanding that the commenting is only allowed while collaboration is taking place but I found this link:
http://www.planetpdf.com/codecuts/pdfs/tutorial/AcroJS.pdf
that has the commenting toolbar available even though it appears that no collaboration is taking place.  Is this enacted by javascript in the document?
The reason I ask is that I would like my customers to make comments while viewing the pdf in the browser and then saving it to their computer.  It saves them from having to open the pdf twice and since I use the url search parameter, the search will not activate when they open it directly in acrobat.
This document may be a bug or something but it would be really handy if I can recreate the bug for my development (assuming the bug will last forever).
Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks for the response!  I enabled it on my pdf and the icon is there but no sticky note, text box, highlighting  or any other tools allowed in acrobat commenting are available.  The link I specified above is the only pdf I have ever seen that allows this capability - by mistake or not.  This must be a document setting.
Any ideas?
Thanks

  • Status bar in web browser

I'm adding a status bar to a web browser and I've run into a little problem. I can't get the status bar to change to reflect the url the user has the mouse over. I need to know if there's an event listener that I can use to do this. Keep in mind that a mouse listener is usually only used to signal when the pointer goes over a control (if you're using the mouseover method that is) rather than when the pointer goes over a link. What would you suggest? Thanks for any help in advance. :)

It isn't an applet, it's an application and it's a web browser. I want to have a status bar at the bottom of the web browser and I want the status bar to function like in any other browser(it changes when you move the pointer over a link and when the browser is getting a page). Specifically, I need to know if there's an event handler that can tell me when a user moves the mouse pointer over a hyperlink. I am using a JEditorPane to display the web pages.

  • Enable Commenting Tools in Adobe Acrobat under Browser Plug-in in Internet Explorer using

We have a problem in showing commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat under browser plug-in in Internet Explorer.  Adobe Support cannot answer my question and refer me to Devnet here.
Our system is using browser plug-in to display PDF file by Acrobat under > > Internet Explorer (document viewer). The PDF documents have reader extension enabled.
We supposed that if a PDF page is viewed and I customize the toolbar, the same toolbar and icon will be displayed next time when I retrieve a page, only if I select "Review and Comment" icon, and it only applies for v8.0.0. If I do not select review and comment icon, or I have selected review and comment icon but > > use other version of 8.x, my selected toolbar and icon cannot reappear next time.
If my selected toolbar and icon do not appear, I can press F8 to hide the icons. If press F8 again to unhide the icons, all my selected icons can be shown this time. But it does not automatically re-appear if I open another documet viewer.
Kindly note that all PDF files have reader extension enabled, and only Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional is used in client PC. There is no Adobe Reader in the PC. The PDF version is 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). The user has comment rights since the PDF file has reader extension and Acrobat 8.0.0 is used. User has no problem in mark-up the PDF files, but has problem in showing the selected tools.
    OS: Windows 2000 SP4
    Browser: IE 6.0 SP1
    Acrobat version: Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional
    PDF version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)
    Steps to produce the problem.
    1. Scan paper document and create a batch of PDF files (one page per file)
    2. Enable reader extension for all PDF files by LifeCycle.
    3. Put the PDF files into a web based interface, entering a page number will open a new web browser which interface the browser plug-in and display the content of the imaged PDF file by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
    4. Open a page. It only show a few icons on toolbar (see a.png).
    5. Select the commenting icons to be shown (do not enabled in "review and comment)".  The icons will be shown.
    6. If the browser is closed, then use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools cannot be shown (same as a.png attached in my previous email).
    7. Select "review and comment" tool. (see b.png attached in my previous email)
    8. The selected tools are shown again (see c.png attached in my previous email).
    9. Close the browser, use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools are still here.
    10. Unselect "review and comment", the selected tools will be hidden next time when a page is opened by the web interface.
    11. Close the browser, and open a new page in web interface, the PDF file will be shown, and the selected icons are hidden.
    12. Press F8 to hide icons, all tools are hidden.
    13. Press F8 to unhide icons, all selected tools that are not shown in step 11 are shown again
    14. If Acrobat 8.0.0 is patched or updated, "review and comment" tool has no effect in "memorizing" the selected tools.

That option is nothing to do with the PDF being editable, it's to control the display of the toolbars. "Reading Mode" is when the toolbars are hidden and the black head-up display navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
PDFs displayed within a web browser with Acrobat/Reader X are not editable, nor can you apply markups, unless you're within a browser-based-review workflow. You have to save a copy locally and open it in desktop mode to make any changes.

  • Open a pdf in web browser disable comments right pane permanently

I have a user base that uses Acrobat Pro X, desktop client and enable via Web Browsers.  Constantly when opening PDF images from a web site, the pdf will open in a new window and open the comment tool bars in the right hand pane.
Disable the comment bar, by clicking and expanding the image to use the whole window.  They will close the browser, completely, open a new pdf file and have to reset the broswer view once again to disable the comments bar.
How do you set it permanently to remain closed - and open only when needed.

OK I had this problem for over 3 months now could not find anything to fix it.
I did the reinstall and also delete reg keys and so on nothing seem to help.
I tried adobe reader 8.3.1 did not help but When I try the adobe 7.1.0 it work.
So uninstall the adobe reader 9.3.0.1 and google adobe reader 7 it will take to to adobe website
on OS pick the XP SP2 and it will show the 7.1.0 ver. download it and install it
That worked for me try it.

  • Message: Your Web browser must accept cookies in order for you to send your data. Please adjust your browser settings to enable this site to store cookies.

    Hello! I have two questions.
    (1) I want to submit a question through www.tune-up.com but the website does not accept my inquiry.
I get the following message: "Your Web browser must accept cookies in order for you to send your data. Please adjust your browser settings to enable this site to store cookies and access this site again."
I checked my cookie settings, and it looks like I have the Firefox default settings (i.e. cookies are accepted). Tried to submit my inquiry again but it does not work. Please advise how to make sure I can submit inquiries etc.
    (2) I want to start using the Google search again but not sure how do change the settings. I do not want to have DuckDuck Go as my default. Would you please describe how to change back to Google? Also, is the problem I described above perhaps related to the DuckDuckGo search engine I use?
I look forward to your assistance which is greatly appreciated - Thank you!

On #1, you can check the site-specific cookie setting using the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog. When you are on the page, you can open that dialog using either:
    * right-click the page > View Page Info > Permissions
    * click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > Permissions
Skim or scroll down to "Set Cookies" to make sure it is not set to Block.
If that is okay, some other random thoughts:
    * Are you using the site in a private browsing window?
    * Do you recall disabling DOM storage, which sites sometimes use instead of cookies to store large blobs of data (Firefox controls access to DOM storage using your cookie setting for the site)?
On #2, your default search engine should not have changed. To change it to Google, you can use the icon on the left end of the search bar (the classic small search box that appears on the toolbar). Please see: [[Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox]].
I don't think there is any connection between #2 and #1.

I changed back to yahoo but I ever since downloading I dont have any back arrows, forward arrows, file, edit, view, history, bookmark, tools, address bar....how do I get my web browser to look like a regular browser again?

For details of how to restore the menus see [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/menu+bar+is+missing]

  • Java won't enable in firefox web browser

I have tried everything possible I could find the fix this issue. I am trying to use the "live chat" feature on the website "car-part.com" in order to chat with auto recycling companies online, but it constantly says that java is not enabled in the web browser. I have gone through the settings and plugins with no luck. I even tried downloading java again from java.com and at the end of the download it states that "java content is disabled in web browsers". What is going on here?

Java and JavaScript are different languages.
    To avoid confusion, see:
There has been a change in the Java security settings, see:

  • I want to get a phone number to directly call Mozilla Firefox and I also want to enable the Norton Search in my Mozilla Firefox web browser like it's enabled in

I want to enable the Norton Search in my Mozilla Firefox Web Browser just like it is enabled in my default Internet Browser of Google Chrome right now today!!!!

    Hello,
We do not have a phone # for technical support unfortunately. There are issues with Norton Toolbar causing Firefox to crash; This has been fixed in the 2013 version of Norton but not in 2012 yet. If you have 2013, it would be easier to contact Norton as they have a better understanding of how to guide you.

  • Active X web browser vertical scroll bar

Does anyone know how I can hide the vertical scroll bar on the right of the
    Active X Web Browser?
    Bill

    Bill,
The bar appears as soon as the contents don't fit the container anymore.
If your displaying a html file of your own, make the body tag like this:
    This will remove the scrollbar.
I'm not sore if it is possible to remove the scrollbar in the container for
every page you load. The scrollbar is a property of the page, not of the
    container!
If you need it for any document, take a look at the Document property.
Convert it to a MSHTML.DispHTMLDocument, and use the ExecCommand method.
This might be a way to hide the scrollbar (but I cannot garantee it). Close
    the ref!
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

  • Air Play enabled web browser Apple TV 2

Is there an Air Play enabled web browser app for iPod Touch/iPhone that I can use for my Apple TV 2?  We are hunting for a new TV and the reviews on any web browsing for the new TV's are dismal.  So we're trying to figure out if we want to spend that extra money.  We already use and love our Apple TV 2, but wish it had web browsing.  I'm hoping there's is an app that can be used to web browse through my iPod Touch syncing with Apple TV.  If not - any suggestions on work-arounds?

You'd need mirroring for that which is currently only supported on the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s.

  • Java does not work on my Win 7 IBM-compatible PC using Firefox as my web browser

A typical example of a website I would like to access & view is "www'cut-the-knot.org", a relatively mathematics-related website with a lot a very nice math content, where (roughly estimating) 70-90% of all web pages on the web site use Java applets to communicate that math content.
I CANNOT view the Java applets (am restricted/prevented from doing so) --- on CTK or ANY other website!.
I could go into all the details but, essentially, I have tried just about everything I can think of (or have found to do/try in discussions on the Internet by googling the problem) & nothing seems to have had any positive affect ... I can still not view ANY Java applets on ANY website! :-(
I USED to be able to view Java content on the PC I was working on, although, a few months ago, I migrated from Win XP to Win 7 when MS stopped supported Win XP. I don't know when things changed but, "while I wasn't looking" (&/or paying attention) something DID change. :-(
I'm using an IBM-compatble PC (not a Mac) with Windows 7 & Firefox as my web-browser.
I'm just a private individual ... just a "little guy" in my home ... little personal technical knowledge, no big biz connections, no $ to hire expensive (or inexpensive) experts to come in & assess & fix the problem. I would even just like to know if there is some kind of future expected date when something MIGHT get improved, barring an action "solution" of the problem.
From what I read on the Internet, some problem(s) relating to this issue has/have been extant for at least two years, dating back to at least 2012, if not further? I assume the problem would have been fixed long ago if it were easy to fix so, I'm not trying to be overly critical ... just asking for some kind of status report --- help/communication/knowledge/expertise/solution/etc ... & any information would be appreciated. Knowing WHAT the problem is is a high priority to me, certainly as well as understanding HOW TO FIX the problem, & WHEN that fix will occur.
Java is a seemingly wonderful technology but, if there are such severe security risks that require it be enabled so that no one (I'll assume I'm not the only one unable to view Java applets) can use it, it doesn't have much value to visitors to websites that employ Java to deliver a majority of their content. Part of the problem, obviously, is that (like CTK) MANY websites ALREADY use/employ Java --- & therefore, end-users have almost no access to the content in/on those websites.
    Thanx in advance ...
