Enable midi on my mac

Question

Hi.
I am on an ibook G4 running OS X 10.4 tiger.
When I open a java .class file which creates and plays a midi sequence, I get no audio, although no error is thrown.  Control is not passed back to terminal, either.
Here is what this looks like:

If it helps, I have installed 'mandolane', which hasn't helped, and have tried running java on both 1.4.2, and 1.5  Because I am on os X 10.4, I cannot upgrade to java 1.6.  (Niether can I upgrade to itunes 10)
Any comments would be very much appreciated,

actually there are no cookies on mac's. only got CACHES:
go to Finder
choose Go (menu bar)
hold OPTION Button (keyboard)
choose Library
choose Caches
