Enable time based publishing on more tha one folder

Is it possbile to enable time base publishing on more than one folder at a time? I have a large hierarchy and it would be nice if I didn't have to change alle the folders.

Hi Ingvild,
It is possible to enable Time-based publishing in multiple folders.
But you need to write some custom code to make it possible.

  • Problem in Time Based Publishing Content

    Hi every1,
Im working with Time based publishing.
Using xml form builder i created 3 contents means 3 xmls.
Then i created one iView for reading the contents (KM Navigation iView) and i setup the properties like
layout set, layout set mode, root folder of contents.
After creation of iView i checked in the preview all 3 contents visible in my iView.
Now i want to show time based content in that iView.
Contents displayed as per time based
for that i enabled time based publishing and life time of particular content(xml)by using the given way
Time dependant publishing in Km. I clicked on the right hand side of the name of my folder-> go to details -> Settings -> Lifetime. there you have to enable the time dependant publishing. Then i opened the folder and click on the rt hand side of the document-> properties -> lifetime, here give the time span of the document.
After life time setup , again i seen in the iView for reading the contents (previous created) in the preview
again all 3 contents displayed including life time expired content also.
Please give me solution for this, or any more configurations required.
    Note :
I required to display the contents in between time applicable only ( from time and until time).
    Thanks in advaince
    Vasu

I have waited more than 3 hours for settings to apply.
But i couldn't find any changes.
    any other solution?

  • Time Based publishing on taxonomy

    Hi there,
we have built a news application where everyone can post it's own news items. Location of the user is a personal folder created by using a userhome filter. The folder has time based publishing activated, the lifetime can be entered in the edit form or directly on the news item through 'details'.
To display all items for all users, a taxonomy is used. However, the lifetime is ignored and all items are visible to all users.
I have activated the tbp service on the /taxonomies repository, as well as enabled 'lifetime' on my 'news' subfolder (everyone has read permissions on this one). Unfortunately, still all items are visible to all users.
Is TBP possible on a taxonomy?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
we have kind of the same scenario here.
We have a KM Folder where editors are editing news. This folder has a taxonomy to display different views on this news folder. TBP is activated in the folder.
    It works like that:
Endusers only see valid news in the taxonomy folders. BUT editors are seeing even the expired ones, nevertheless that they only have Read permissions in the Taxonomy and /taxdata repository. So it seems to us that the "Full control" permission from the Source KM Folder is kind of overwriting the Read only permission in the Taxonomy. (Maybe you have the same problem)
Our solution might be that we are programming a "KM Resource List Filter" to filter out the unwanted expired news out of the taxonomy folder for the editors as well.
    Cheers
    Christoph

  • Time Based Publishing - Not Working

    Hello SAP KM Gurus-
I had configured Time Based Publishing to work on our clustered portal.  Everything worked fine until we went to a central instance / dialog set-up.  Now Time Based Publishing no longer works and I can't seem to get it to work no matter what I do.  I have so far:  scheduled the job on only one instance (as per the clustering guidelines in SAP Library), turned it on with properties with the repository (and for the folder I wish to use) and have checked to make sure the service is okay in KM Configuration.  However, it seems like the job never comes by to hide the documents b/c they just show up for Read users no matter what I change.  As I stated before, this was working fine until we went to the new configuation.
I've checked SAP Notes with no luck.  Anyone have any idea why this is not working?  I'm fresh out.
    Any help greatly appreciated...
    Jim

    Hello Anjali-
Thanks for your post.  Yes, I have checked that.  Here are my settings - I have Check Valid From assigned to one instance running on  the Central Instance and Check Valid To assigned to the other instance (we have two instances on each server) as per the help docs.  In component monitor, tbp is coming up green and the properties it is State-Ok.  On the repositories, I have both tbp and properties assigned and when I enable tbp I can get the lifecycle tab for the documents.  It appears as if everything is set up right.  However, the read users can see the documents just fine when they shouldn't.  It seems as if the Check Valid From and Check Valid To jobs just never run.
Is there anyway I can see if the jobs have run and what the schedule was?  The tbp report also showing nothing...  Does it look like I'm doing anything wrong above.  I'm on EP 14/KM 14 by the way...
    Thanks for your help-

  • Time-based publishing

    Hello All,
I'm trying to use lifetime documents following this link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/d1/5b6635f5e0ef428fb513336881679b/frameset.htm
So I have done thoose steps:
activate lifetime property in my folder
activate tasks "valid from" and "valid to"
I'm trying to activate time-based publishing service (TBP) but I'm unable to find it in the portal.
I have loocked in System Administration->System configuration->KM->Content Management->Repository Services and in System Administration->System configuration->KM->Content Management->Global Services without sucess.
How can I check/configurate if TBP is running on the Portal?
Do I have to do something more for use lifetime documents service?
       I'm using NW 2004s and EP7.0
       Thanks in advance,
       Regards

    Hi Yaiza,
TBP service should be running in your portal but the configuration of the service cannot be changed. You need only to register this service with a repository and you must also register the application property service as it is described here: <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c1/c87d3cf8ff3934e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm">Time-Dependent Publishing Service</a>
This registration is done by default for standard /documents repository in the portal.
Please be aware that the user with read/write permission for the folder where you have activated Time-dependant Publishing will be able to see all documents in that folder. Please refer to this: <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/e8/a9a76828b8dc469969ff450ec81ced/frameset.htm">Lifetime of Documents</a>
Please remember to set valid time periods for your documents. When time-dependant publishing is activated properties <b>valid from</b> and <b>valid to</b> have the same value by default.
One more thing is to set correct CM systems for scheduler task for TBP (at least on system in clustered environment) <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d1/5b6635f5e0ef428fb513336881679b/frameset.htm">Scheduler Tasks for Time-Dependent Publishing</a>
    Hope it helps,
    Best Regards,

  • XML Forms Time-based publishing

    Hi,
I'm testing an XML form that uses Time-based publishing but it isn't working correctly. The fields in the Edit form that correspond to Valid to / from are working. When I input the timestamps, they show up in the properties. I have also activated the Time Based Publishing service for this folder (it is in the documents repository). I have created two forms, one that should be published and one that shouldn't. When I test the iview with my administrative user, both appear (this is the expected behavior)
When I log in with a user who only has Read permissions on that folder, I can't see any content. I've tried different combinations of dates for the elements but nothing seems to be getting through. I've also waited for the 15 minutes that the guide establishes for the content to appear but nothing shows up. What could be the problem?
    Thanks for your help,
    Luis

    hi
There are Valid to & Valid from properties in the data model section of the XML Forms Builder. Would imagine you could play around with these as a starting point.
when creating the XML Form, you can drag and drop the KM Properties "Valid From" and "Valid Until" from the left pane "Data Model" -> "Properties" -> "Lifetime" on your form. activate the tbp (time-based publishing) service on the used repository and also to "Enable Time-Dependent Publishing" on every folder where you want to use the forms (from the folder menu "Details" -> "Settings" -> "Lifetime".pèleas also go through this

  • Repository Services - Time based publishing missing

    Hi,
We are running NW07, and want to configure time based publishing.
I can't find the Repository Services for this it is suppose to be under
System administratoin -> Content Management -> Repository Services
    But it is not,
    can anyone help?

After that, you have to define the real lifetime

An keep in mind that only users with not more than read permissions will see the document only during its lifetime. Users with write additional permissions can always see it

  • Time-based publishing stopped working

    Hi,
We currently have a problem with time-based publishing in KM. Since a few days ago, documents stopped becoming visible once they reach their "valid from" date. We have not been able to publish documents with TBP since then on that system.
These errors keep appearing in the knowledgemanagement.#.log files, which seem related to this issue :

    Hi,
    1.  Have you checked that tbl service continue assigned to your repository ?
    2. If you create a new repository and assign these service, does it work ?
Enables users to define a time frame during which documents are published (visible).
Note that the time-dependent publishing service requires the application property service.
    This service cannot be configured.

  • Time-based publishing in Web Page Composer

    Hi,
I'm evaluating Web Page Composer (WPC) for a customer and one of the requirements is time-based publishing for web pages and navigation, but I can’t find any information on that subject.
Do you know if it’s possible to set up time-based publishing for WPC pages?
    Thanks
    Martin

    FYI.
I contacted SAP about time-based publishing for WPC pages and unfortunately this feature is not implemented in current versions of WPC. My request has been added to the feature request list for future versions.

  • XML form Time based Publishing

    Hi Everyone
I added the valid until and valid from properties to the XML form and activated the time dependent publishing for the folder where this form is displayed. My problem is that it is not taking the time that I enter in the XML form fields but considering the time only if I go to the details tab of that particular doc and set up the lifetime. I want to set this up in the edit form of the XML form. Can somebody please tell me if I am missing something.
    Thanks

  • Can we open more than one  "folder" at a time in Bridge?

When I click on a folder icon, the images appear in the Bridge workspace. Then when I click on another, different, folder icon, the previously displayed images are gone, and only the second folder's images appear. A priori, this seems to be an unnecessary limitation on functionality, and therefore I presume that I just do not know how to do what is called for: To use the functionality of Bridge for more than the contents of only one folder at a time.
Yes, I know that I could, using, say, Windows Explorer, create a sort of "megafolder" into which I copied the contents of several folders, but this seems to be a kludge which should not be necessary.
Did the designers of Bridge not contemplate that users would want to operate on the contents of more than one folder at a time? I presume that I am just ignorant of how to achieve what should be a normal functionality; seeing more than the contents of just one folder at a time.
    Please alleviate my ignorance.

Quick way: Press Ctrl+N (Cmd-N mac) to open a new Bridge window. Open the second folder there.
Not so quick way: Select menu File => New Window. Open the second folder there.
If you MUST view all of the files in one window, all of your files MUST be in folders nested within the same parent folder. In that case:
    1) View the parent folder in bridge.
    2) Open the Filter palette.
    3) Click the microscopic button in the top left corner of the Filter palette, which looks like a folder with a "No" symbol on it. The tooltip label for that button is, "Click to view all items...".

  • Time based publishing with WebDynpro ?

    Hello All,
I need to validate the documents from KM before showing them in my Web Dynpro application depending on the Time based publishing properties.
I read the documentation on SDN for the same and tried using this example -
    <a href="http://etower.towersemi.com/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.pdk.km.repositoryservices/docs/repositoryservices.html#timebased%20publishing">http://etower.towersemi.com/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.pdk.km.repositoryservices/docs/repositoryservices.html#timebased%20publishing</a>
However which JAR file or some other references do I need to make for accessing this class - ITimebasedPublishServiceManager
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi everyone,
I figured it out... We need to include the following -km.shared.repository.service.timebasedpublish_api.jar for this.

  • Dependency between time based publishing and statemanagement?

    Hi,
how it is the dependency between time based publishing  and statemanagement?
    thanks¡¡

    Hi,
If you publish documents time-dependently, there is not normally an approval process. Time-dependent publishing can, however, be combined with an approval process.
If you want to publish both time-dependently and with an approval process, a document can only be viewed by people with read permission if it is valid and if all approval steps have been successfully completed.

  • Check time based publishing from Java

    Hello all,
How can I check whether a resource is valid with respect to time based publishing from Java?
I had a look at the IResource JavaDoc, hoping that there would be an isTimeBasedValid() (or thereabouts) method, but there isn't.
So obviously I must simply check the valid from and valid untill properties against 'todays' date/time. The problem is that I don't know the name of these properties. I imagine that they are in the namespace 'IWcmConst.SAP_WCM_NAMESPACE' but as far as the name goes, I'm stuck. I had a look at the IWcmConst JavaDoc, since I know that other properties have constant values there, such as displayname and description etc, but I can't see constants for valid from and valid untill.
As per, any help is greatly appreciated.
    Patrick.

That's because it's not part of the core API.

As far as I can tell, properties used by the TBP service should be considered an implementation detail. To obtain the information you need, you'll first have to get an instance of the currently running TBP service, and then use it's methods to obtain the dates (see <http://media.sdn.sap.com/html/submitted_docs/60_sp2_javadocs/km/com/sapportals/wcm/repository/service/timebasedpublish/ITimebasedPublishServiceManager.html>).
