  • Specifiying Language for Document Properties if PDF Form

In order for a pdf to be 508 compliant it's language must be specified. I've created a form and for the life of me can't figure out how to specify the language for this document such that Adobe Reader knows it's english.  In a pdf NOT created using lifecyle this would be easy. simply go to file > properties> advanced > Language > english. but in pdf forms that section of the properties is greyed out. I tried adding it to the xml like this:<br /> <text name="Language">English</text> in the <desc> tag. Please if you have ANY suggestions they'd be much appreciated.

I wonder if you have seen the form being filled, or a screen shot, so can confirm that Adobe Reader is the app when it is filled? (And not Adobe Reader Touch or a browser or Microsoft Reader or any other app). The reason for asking is that many users (not unreasonably but wrongly) assume that once Adobe Reader is installed it is bound to be used.

  • Adding attachments to PDF form

I tried everything and looked everywhere and can't find the best solution to this problem.  I just need a way for the user to attach documents to a PDF form in Adobe Reader.  I have access to LiveCycle and Acrobat so is there way once the extended features are enabled for a user to add attachments to the form in Reader.  I have LiveCycle ES 8.2.1.  I guess the only possible way is when the user emails the form they can add the attachments then but I just want to see if it can be done by attaching to the actual form.

    Hi Roy,
I can't test now, but I've had Paul's example working on a Mac before in Acrobat.
If you are using Reader on the Mac (or Windows), then the form would need to be Reader Enabled using LC Reader Extensions ES on the server.
If you have Reader Enabled the form in Acrobat, then the ability to attach files is not available to users with Reader.
    See a summary here: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Issues with a PDF Form

I have a few concerns regarding the attached image.  I created a form in LC ES2 and saved as a PDF.
When I click in the "Hours" and "Notes" column, it displays a drop-down list box. I would like to eliminate the drop-down list box from both columns.
I set the fields in this column as a decimal.  However, it will not allow me to type $150.00 in it but will allow me to type other currency.  How can I fix this issue?
Once I save the document into a PDF form.  I would like to protect or keep a user from changing the numbers in the "Hours" and "Rate" column.  How can do this?
Please provide some suggestions, and thanks in advance.

    Hi Patrick,
For creating Multilevel Approval workflow,  you can  implement it using SharePoint designer 2010.
Please refer to the following blogs:

    http://www.nothingbutsharepoint.com/2013/02/25/5-steps-to-enhance-sharepoint-2010-approval-workflow-aspx/
Also you can customize a state machine workflow using Visual Studio:

For Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file is already checked out.

  • How many pages can a PDF form have?

I'm about to reformat a word document into a PDF form. The document is over 50 pages long and may include simple form fields to large areas of text that can be entered and also various check boxes. Is there a limit to how many fields you can have in one document? Also with such a long document, may there be issues with users, editing and saving?
Thanks for any insight before I begin this project.

There's no specific limit. But if you are talking thousands of form fields you could see poor performance.
Be sure you are fully aware of the limitations in Adobe Reader if you intend the form to be used by Adobe Reader. ASSUME NOTHING. For instance, many people have come a cropper by assuming that Reader will be able to just save filled in forms.

  • Dynamically populating a PDF form?

I've created a form in InDesign that I use in my daily work -- it has several fields that hold information about issues I'm currently working on.  This information comes from a proprietary in-house system that I have access to via JDBC, SQL, language bindings, etc.  I would like to take my InDesign document, create a PDF form with it, and then have new PDFs automatically generated with the data provided by our own database.  I can handle 90% of this, but the Adobe end of it is confusing and (frankly) a bit frustrating.
I can make a static PDF from InDesign just fine, but how can I create a PDF that is meant to be populated at a later time using external data?  I can put it any format - XML, CSV, whatever you want.  I just don't want to have to launch InDesign every time I want to print a new form.  Launching Acrobat would be fine, if not optimal -- at least in Acrobat I don't have to be careful not to mess up the source document.
I would love it if Adobe provided a way (outside of LifeCycle - I don't have the money for that) to automate this entirely within CreativeCloud, but I am more than competent with outside programming environments if that's going to be required.
Can anyone give me some direction with this?

    Irosenth,
Thanks for the response.  I'm going with option 2.  For anyone finding this question in the future, here's the tutorial video to create an interactive PDF from InDesign:

  • Converting Word Doc to PDF Form

I am trying to convert a word document into a PDF Form.
I have tried running the 'Form Wizard' in Acrobat 9.x Pro. I have the current version, just can't remember the rev. number.
Supposidly the Form Wizard will recognize areas of the word doc as fields and insert fields automagically. I have tried the wizard several times from within Word 2007 and Acrobat Pro. no luck. Nothing is recognized.
Any ideas? I don't want to have to manually re=create the form unless I have to.
I am attaching the PDF doc and hoping someone can help with this.

I know it's user to user, but I'm an optimist, and figured I'd toss in a UX suggestion while I was at it.    Apologies if that aside was misplaced.
I'm pretty sure none of the "fields" I made were actual form fields according to Word, they were just things like text boxes, or, more frequently, tables (the doc I was working from had values filled in where form spaces should go, so I frequently used text -> table to keep the formatting as consistent as possible, then deleted the filled-in values).
One of the reasons I wanted to do it this way is that it can sometimes be a pain to line up the form fields in Acrobat such that the text when filled in lines up with the already-present text (or am I missing a trick?)
Also, as an update, I tried PDF-form-ifying just page 1, and got the same error, then tried PDF-form-ifying everything but page 1, and again, same error.

  • How to merge fillable pdf forms?

    Hi...
I had a 40 pages pdf document ...which i divided into 8 parts and converted each of these 8 documents into fillable pdf forms using Life Cycle Designer...
Now How can I merge these 8 files together.?
When I was trying to merge these files thru Acrobat...its giving me an error saying "adobe xml files cannot be merged" .
    Thanks....

    how to create an portfolio?
In Adobe Acrobat use File > Create PDF > From Multiple Files...
Won't work with files created in Designer. You'll just get the same error as the OP.
A PDF package is the only option available for Designer forms.
(although you WILL get that option after you let "create from multiple documents" fail.)

  • Is Acrobat Attachments possible when submit pdf form as XDP

I need to attach documents in my pdf form using acrobat attachment functionality (not the workspace atachments). It works fine when submit form as PDF but fails when submit form as XDP. I need to add some data to form data(process ID using SetValue) before assigning to 2nd user. For this, I think, XDP submission is best. But Using PDF submission I am not able to modify the data in between the process using SetValue.
Is it possible to send attachments while submitting form as XDP ?? OR how else I can achieve this ??
    Please Help.
    Thanks.

Is there a simple way (I don't know javascript) to get all fields/values in the email body?
This can be done with JS, and it's not too complicated, but you can't generate an email from Reader without any attachments (well, actually you can, but then the amount of data you can put in it is very limited), it has to have either the entire PDF, or a file with the form data, attached to it.

  • Is ADS and PDF forms required for an upgrade to ECC 6.0 for US Payroll?

We're currently on SAP 4.7 for US Payroll, but are working on an upgrade to ECC 6.0. I'm looking for a clear answer to whether or not we have to move to Adobe Document Services and PDF forms with our upgrade. I've heard from several sources that SAP is not providing updates to SAPscript forms in ECC 6.0 and will only make updates to PDF based tax reporter forms going forward. Can anyone comfirm that is the case?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Can't send a PAGES document Via email in PDF form ... used to be done by clicking share and PDF  HELOP

creating a document on pages and trying to share it via email in PDF form used to be really easy...
How does this work now?  help

I always just do file->print. Then in the lower left is a menu that said "PDF" and just pick "Mail PDF" from the dropdown and a new email is composed with the PDF attached. One step to print, one click to choose mail and you're done. I just tried this on the latest Yosemite and Pages updates and it works fine.

  • PDF form - Create link to folder or other document

I've created PDF Form with various field along js. now client is asking the option to insert the link of other document reference in the field by using button. similar to browse to give the "link of document location in the server" in the field by using button.
    please help to make this.
    thanks
    kv

I see. That is more complicated to implement... Basically you could do it
    like this:
    - Set the text field's option "Field is used for file selection" under
    Properties - Options.
    - Then add a MouseUp action to the button that executes this JavaScript
    code:
    this.getField("Link").browseForFileToSubmit();
    - When the button is then clicked it will open a file selection dialog and
will populate the selected file path into the text field.
