Encoder noise problems

I am using a 6602 card with a counter in a simple pulse generation mode, and a rotary magnetic encoder.
I am trying to send a pulse after the certain position change. we have a standard encoder, and we are using the 6602 card with a programmed single pulse train generation counter. A channel of the encoder is set as a source, and after 50 pulses it is suposed to give a pulse. The problem is however when the encoder due to some noise factor sends pulses without a movement. This is not a problem with a position measurement, as it also has B channel to detect the change of the direction.
Is there a posibility to restart the delay counter, while reading the AqB signal, without a involvement of the software program?

 Hi Mirko,
I believe I understand your application now:
You want to count 50 pulses from your incremental encoder then generate a pulse output.
Right now it sounds like your are doing the following:
  1. Using a counter on your NI 6602 to measure the angular position
  2. When the position is reached that corresponds to 50 pulses then you turn a digital output high
  3. Another counter on the NI 6602 is armed and waiting for a digital trigger, on receipt of the trigger it then generates a pulse.
It is not possible (that I know of) for a NI 6602 running a angular position task to generate a pulse output when a certain
position has been reached in hardware, this will need to be a software timed decision.
Why is the incremental encoder wired to the source of your counter?
I'm afraid this will always be a software timed event, the transition from measuring the position to generating a pulse (or pulse train).
This could be as fast as a millisecond if your VI was properly constructed.
If you need just a single pulse then why not use the software digital output to send a High then Low?
If you need a pulse train then look at the shipping examples that are included with Labview.
I'm attaching a quick example in Labview 8.2 that shows one concept that should work for you. This one count's edges then triggers a pulse train.
Have a great evening,

  • Strange noise problem with music layer after replacing the music file using script in CS6

    Hey guys,
I got a strange problem. Sometime when I import a music file, or replace a music footage with another music file using the "replace()" or "importFile()" method, the music layer added one second noise at the beginning. like this,
Does anyone know what's going on here?
    I'm using After Effects CS6 windows Server 2008 64bit.
    Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Myleniu,
Thanks for your replay. Actually, it doesn't matter what makes up my comp, this problem just randomly happen when I render any comp. For example, I have a comp named "noise", I run a script to replace the music then render it, I use a "for" loop to do this 5 times and the music noise problem just happen one time.
I'm starting to think that win server might be the problem.

  • Digital Noise Problem on AA 1.5

    Adobe Audition 1.5
Lately I have noticed that just by opening a track within Adobe Audition, that process "creates" or embeds digital noise within the song.
I have tested this problem a few times by listening to the song before opening it within Audition. Beforehand, the song plays without digital noise, and after it has been opened within Audition, the noise appears. This digital noise is hard to describe, it's short in length of time, about 1-2 seconds, and will appear at least once within whatever song is being tested.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Audition to see if this would solve the problem, but to my surprise, the exact same digital noise problem remained within the reinstalled version of program. In the past, AA 1.5 has worked okay without this problem.
It's also worth noting that when I reinstalled the program, I successfully entered my program key, and I am "not" running the program in demonstration mode.
I am planning on upgrading to Adobe Audition 3, but the upgrade uses a previous version as a platform on which to upgrade to version 3.
The concern is that this digital noise will "survive" in version 3 of the program.
Thanks for any tips or ways to eliminate the digital noise (besides reinstalling the program), even within Adobe Audition 1.5 for the time being.

The brief digital noise "replaces" or interrupts the song and does not mix together with it.
I have been saving the songs in .wav format.
I operate AA in virtual mode on Windows XP within a Mac computer, and now I have also discovered the same
digital noise on another sound program within a song on the Mac side.
I appreciate that this isn't a Mac forum, but I found a bulletin from Apple about noise issues with my current G5 computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2033?viewlocale=en_US
Perhaps this is good timing as I am preparing to buy a new Mac Pro, and this one has an Intel processor so I'll be
able to run Windows and Adobe Audition natively.
Thanks to all for the insightful comments and help.

  • Noise Problems at 100 iso

Hey im a rookie working editing a music video i shot.
From what I was taught about noise. It comes from high iso and underexposed images.
I shot in bright day light at 100 iso and footage has noise problems.
Heres the link to the vid im editing. Its at 17secs(look at the black jacket) and all the way thru.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJoRdqyE-70
Canon t4i with kit lens. 24fps, 50 shutter speed, Lightform c picture style

That's what I call "codec noise", sadly a known and hard (if possible) to avoid issue with canon VDSLR. Things that might help :
    - using an on camera "flat" color profile like flaat10.
    - lowering contrast, saturation and sharpening on this profile (the guy behing flaat10 provide good guidelines for his profiles).
    - disabling every picture processing options like "highlight priority".
    - staying away from the exposure zone were the issue is most visible, ie better plan your lighting and exposure. Being outdoor with a nice sun at 100 iso won't matter if you're shooting people standing in a shadow area with dark clothes. Keep in mind that with this kind of camera you have a very limited dynamic range to work with. Shadow + sunlight will give you nothing but overexposed highlights and muddy shadows.
    - not doing the post work in native H264 but rather transcode to something like DNxHD or ProRes (that was usefull with FCP7 and Color, I have no idea how Premiere handle this, never tested and probably never will).
    - not letting this drive you crazy. It's quite hard to see in your video and I probably only saw it because I knew what you were talking about before I even watched the video. It is highly improbable that most viewer will notice it.

  • Noise problem

I got my MacBookPro end of April. For some time now I have a noise problem which is very annoying. At first I thought it is only in my imagination until it severely intefered with my concentration and even my well-being. It is a high frequency noise which stops when I close the display. The noise seems to go up and down with the screen brightness. After reading through the discussion threads and finding information on the whining-noise - which seems to be a well known issue - I experimented with blowing into the areas where the fans are located and.....surprise, surprise the high frequency noise seems to be gone for the moment. Had anybody similar experiences??? and what would you recommend.

Let's not get overly dramatic... noise affecting your well being? Research will show that if it is truly affecting your well being you fall within the 8% of people that may develop depression, anxiety, or another psychological disorder from everyday stimuli. If you are not being overly dramatic, I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist... seriously, I'm not being a jerk.

This is a known problem, some call it the "Screen Inverter Whine". Faulty screen inverters were present in many of the MBPs released between January 2006 and roughly June 2006.
The solution to the problem is having AppleCare replace your screen inverter.
Call Apple Care and describe your problem. They will handle it by shipping you a box to send to a repair center. Your computer should be out of your hands roughly 3-5 business days depending on shipping times.
    Good Luck.

  • 6120c speaker noise problem

I have puchased Nokia 6120c a month before. It work fine up to my requirement and expectation.
Since last some days, it created noise in the front size speaker and sometimes mutes while listening to some caller. But when I make the volume down, it works fine.
I will be grateful if you please guide me how can be get rid of this inconvenience of speaker noise problem, and suggest me the solution.

    Which HD do you have?
    1. There is a constant noise from it and by
monitoring the fan sensors it have concluded that
they are not to blame. Altough it sounds like a fan
that is constantly on because it sounds like air
flowing inside the computer. As far as i can tell the
noise seems to be most apparent under the trackpad.
This noise is on from the moment i turn on the
    machine until i shut.
It might just be the sound of the hard drive spinning. They don't appear to ever spin down. Especially the 7200 one like I have.
    2. I belive or am imagining to my self that the
harddrive is becoming louder when writing/reading
    activity.
It not just your imagination runnin away with you. On occasions mine makes some clicks, etc. when reading or writing.
So from these two issues i tought it migh have been
the harddrive that had some fault on it, but i cant
seem to find any, the S.M.A.R.T. status is verified
and there is never any sounds which might suggest bad
    sectors on it.
I think it just may be "normal" for these drives.
    3. Every 2-3 secconds there is a faint noise from the
PowerBook and i belive that this might have something
to do with the Power as when it is not pluged into
the mains there is no sound. It sounds like a very
    quite heartbeat monitor.
    No clue what that is.

  • Is it common for imac 20" isight to have noise problems?

    Hi there,
I ordered imac 20" isight and currently waiting for delivery. I am getting woried over these "buzzing noise" and other noise problems reported over and over again here on these boards. Can more experienced users of these boards, apple insiders and anyone else give me your opinion:
Is it common for imac 20" isight to have noise problems?
I am really considering to get 17" if there is any real information it is considerably more quiet.
    Thank you in advance.

    We have a new 17" and 20"
The 17" is virtually silent, the 20" there is some fan noise.
I find it annoying, although it is 100% quieter than my old PowerMac, which I got used to!

  • Encoding a Flash Video - Video noise problem in a few areas - any way to fix ?

    Hello All;
I posted a question to the Flash Video encoder forum but only got 1 read after the entire day so i figured it was not visited often so I'm posting my question in this area which I hope gets more traffic.
I am desperately trying to encode a video using the Flash Media encoder. I am starting out with a pristine-looking quicktime file. I have two versions - a 720 X 480 version, and a version 1/2 that resolution. When I perform the encoding even with the best quality, a few of the objects in the scene exhibit some video noise (Not sure if that's what you'd call it). I have attached a video (See below) that I'm trying to encode that has the problem. The problem occurs very early in the video - probably 15-30 seconds in or less so it will not take long for you to see it. Take a look at the American Flag on the astronaut's flightsuit and see if you can explain what is causing this and more importantly, is there anything I can do to prevent this video noise in a few of the on-screen objects ?
Video is at this link ... http://www.dedula.net/lfsemaa/longfellow%20ael%20dedication.html
Thanks a lot for any help and advice you can priovide.
    Tim

If you know the name of the Event where the clips are stored, try this:
Quit iMovie. Go to Mac HD > Users > (your home folder) > Movies > iMovie Events > (find the Event folder name that matches).
Drag that folder first to the Desktop, moving it out of the iMovie Events folder
Now download a program called MPEG Streamclip. The idea here is you will attempt to convert the videos in that Event Folder into a format iMovie uses natively to edit, and display video accurately down to the 1/30th of a second inside of iMovie.
Launch MPEG Streamclip. Now go into the Events folder you moved to the Desktop, drag one of the video clips from that Event folder into the open application window in Streamclip.
Question #1: Does the video playback in Streamclip when you move the playhead back and forth or simply click the play button?
If it does, then go to the File Menu > Export to QuickTime... In the settings window click on the pulldown menu and for Compression: choose Apple Intermediate Codec. And for the frame rate type in 30:
Then click Make Movie, save it to a new folder on your desktop. Convert each on of the clips in that Events folder using this method. Saving it each time into a the same folder.
Once you have your clips converted, quit Streamclip, now open iMovie. Import your newly converted clips into a new Event Folder in iMovie and see if they react differently than before. You should have thumbnails and be able to skim the clips without any difficulty now.

  • Big fan noise problem: the rear fan won't shut off, the BIOS won't update, systemupdate locks up

I received new ThinkStaion (oh boy, lots of memory and CPU speed, yay!)
I unfortunately left the originally installed Vista OS on there.  Very much regretting that as I believe it contributes to the following problems (BIOS).
So the original problem was that after just a month of using my new ThinkStation, the System Board died, and it had to be replaced. Honestly, all I did was choose the sleep or hibernate option in Vista to shut down.  Afterwards, poof! didn't even get the proper Power lights on the system.  I diagnosed this with the online docs and then sat for a few hours on our tech support line doing all the same things to re-diagnose it.
So after the replacement, the rear fan will not shut off. Jet engine noise all day. I went into the system settings and selected "Quiet" for the Fan settings but that did not help.
Research on this forum resulted in the possibility of a BIOS update fixing the problem.  Comparison to my co-workers systems which arrived at the same time shows this BIOS is woefully out of date, so even if it does not fix the fan issue I want to update it.  However, everything I've tried to do is failing for one reason or another.
(The fan issue does need resolution since in one week I will end up sharing an office (first time in many years, thanks IBM for nothing!) so since I don't want us both to have to wear noise cancelling headsets, I'd like to fix this without having to just pull the @#$@ power to the fan. Grrrr. )
I downloaded what I felt were the appropriate Lenovo apps to update both the BIOS and the serial number but none seem to work properly from the command line in Vista.  One of the two (can't recall which) asks me to reboot and it never actually shuts down. Eternal "Shutting Down" message. Ga!  The other throws some gosh awful

Then I decided Vista might be the problem and found sites recommending flashing the BIOS from a bootable USB.  So I started down that path and after burning the wrong version, finally geting the AIK Vista tools installed and to the point of trying to make the USB bootable, it won't allow me to put the OS boot on it.  Ah, for the days when a simple "sys a:" took care of that.
So, after reformatting the USB and pounding my head in the wall, keyboard, etc. I am at my wit's end.  What to do.  I just want the fan noise to go away.
This does seem to duplicate other forum messages but I can't get anywhere on this.  Help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

FYI to all the helpful folks here (and any looking to shut their jet engine off as well): Flashing the BIOS did the trick.
First I had to find a website with DOS OS files and put those on the USB instead of Vista.  Oldie but a goodie, but at least it booted! No other versions would.
I had been intending to use the WinPhlash utility that Lenovo supplied with the BIOS update but since I was booting from DOS that was useless. However, I found a DOS version of it and used that instead. Boom baby!  Flashed and rebooted.
It did take two boots to get it back to normal (first one gave very alarming messages about no operating system being found but I think it was just a remnant of the reboot that was triggered from the DOS session).  A second boot returned life to normal and blissful silence from the server.  And I was finally able to get the model and serial number back in there to get rid of the bootup message it throws for that too.
    Ahhhhhhh.
Thanks to all for the hints - I believe I had gotten the idea of flashing the BIOS to solve this from some other thread I found here.  This is a very nice forum to have bookmarked.

  • File encoding cp1252 problem

    Hi there,
I have a problem concerning the file encoding in a web application.
I'll sketch the problem for you.
I'm working on adjustments and bug fixes of an e-mail archive at the company i work for. With this archive, users can search e-mails using a Struts 1.0 / JSP web application, read them, and send them back to their mail inbox.
Recently a bug has appeared, concerning character sets.
We have mails with french characters or other uncommon characters in it.
    Like the following mail:
Subject: Test E-mail archief cordinatie Els
Content: Test cordinatie rdmarrage ... test weird characters
In the web application itself, everything is fine...but when i send this mail back to my inbox, the subject gets all messed up:
    =?ANSI_X3.4-1968?Q?EMAILARCHIVE_*20060419007419*_Tes?=
    =?ANSI_X3.4-1968?Q?t_E-maill_archief_co=3Frdinatie_Els?=
The content appears to be fine.
We discovered this problem recently, and a lot of effort and searching has been done to solve it.
Our solution was to put the following line in catalina.sh , with what our Tomcat 4.1 webserver starts.
    CATALINA_OPTS="-server -Dfile.encoding=cp1252"
On my Local Win2K computer, the encoding didn't pose a problem, so catalina.sh wasn't changed. It was only a problem (during testing) on our Linux test server ... a VMWare server which is a copy of our production environment.
On the VMWare, i added the line to the catalina.sh file. And it worked fine.
    Problem Solved !
Yesterday, we were putting the archive in production. On our production server ... BANG --> NullPointerException.
We thought it has something to do with jars he couldn't find, older jars, cache of tomcat ... but none of this solved the problem.
We put the old version back into production, but the same NullPointerException occured.
We then put the "CATALINA_OPTS="-server -Dfile.encoding=cp1252" " line in comment ... and then it worked again.
We put the new version into production (without the file encoding line), and it worked perfectly, except for those weird ANSI characters.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I use that same file encoding to start a batch, but there i call it Cp1252 (with a capital C) ... might that be the problem? But i have to be sure...because the problem doesn't occur in the test environment, and i can't just test in production ... and switch off the server whenever i'd like to.
Does anyone see if making cp1252 --> Cp1252 might be a solution, or does anyone have another solution?
    Thanks in advance.

First, I will start by saying that JInitiator was not intended to run on Win7, especially 64bit. So, it may be time to think about moving to the Java Plugin. Preferably one which is certified with your Forms version.
To your issue, I suspect you need to change the "Region and Language" settings on the client machine. This can be found on the Control Panel. If that doesn't help, take a look at this:

  • Noise problem with HP Photosmart C4480

I purchased this all-in-one in November of last year - now out of warranty and guess what? It has developed a fault in that it makes a noise like a loud machine gun burst before it starts printing. Print quality is still fine. On line technician in a far off place(i think) wasn't much help. Can this be cured?

    Hello Wildviolets
If the printer was having noise and now won't work at all then it sounds like the printer may have had a hardware problem. As for the ink if they are Genuine HP ink and you just purchased them they should still be in warranty. If you purchase a new HP printer that doesn't use those cartridges, you should be able to call HP they should be able to replace any unopened ink cartridges that are in warranty for other HP ink cartridges that will work with your new printer.
    Hello Larrycza
It does sound good for the printer. Have you tried running the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility? It may be able to determine which component or problem is occurring.
Using the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

  • Media Encoder CC Problems - No sound and often crashes while rendering to Youtube 1080p 29.97 fps

I'm baffled by all of this.
I'm trying to render a clip similar to this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fprMxgfdpRo
except there are 8 equalizers and I have to do it for a 2 hour podcast. I have to do it in 10 minute clips because it will either crash every 2 hours of rendering, or it won't have sound, which seems like a common problem with AME. It is very difficult to get the sound to line up after the fact.
    Here are my specs:
    Windows 8.1
    i7 - 3770K
AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz edition
    16gb Ram
I can't seem to pinpoint a fix for this problem. Anyone have any ideas?

This is user to user forum.  Some of us on Adobe side check forums once in a while to help users.  Contacting support is the proper direct communication with Adobe.  That said..
Try encoding uisng Software rendering instead of GPU.  Look for "Renderer" just below queue panel and select "Mercury Playback Engine: software only".  We have seens in some cases (on longer clips) where graphic card runs out of memory and causes application to mis behave or crash.
If that doesn't solve, let us know if you can encode that particular video to any other preset (Not Youtube).  Just to see if this is common issue with all preset or particular one.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Mac problem

    Hi folks,
I've put off posting this for 2 months now in the hopes that I could figure it out myself by reading through the myriad of other posts on this, but I'm at the end of my efforts with no luck.
    First off, system specs:
Mac Pro 2.8 GHz 8 core, 12 GB RAM, Leopard 10.5.8
Adobe Prod Premium Suite CS4 latest versions
Files: H264 1280x720 from Canon T1i, also same prob for any projects with footage from Canon HV30
Problem: same old one that's been posted a million times-
-click export and it opens media encoder, hit encode and it says "loading" for about 5 minutes, then gives the ole' "Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted" error
Things I have tried or noted:
-Uninstalled, Ran CS4 clean, removed anything (prefs etc) Adobe, Reinstalled
-made sure no Red Giant demos were on the machine
    -repaired permissions
I tried doing it on my Macbook Pro, and it works just fine, so the prob is specific to my mac pro
If there is any other ideas for this, please let me know, I've seen numerous suggestions for Windows, but not for mac.
One interesting thing is that Premiere crashed about a dozen times when I open it for the first time after an install, being an audio engineer, I have a ton of vst instruments on the machine, and it seemed like it would crash on initializing many of the plug-ins.  Native instruments in particular were bad, but after each restart it would move on to the next plug-in.  It did do this on the Macbook Pro as well though...
This is getting very frustrating as I love working with Premiere, but the only option for me has been to open the project in After Effects, and export from there... far from ideal.
Any ideas?  Any other info needed?  Thanks for any help!

Well Harm, you are now official tech support for Macs too!!! (whether you like it or not
I moved the vst plug-ins and voila, yellow export bar for the FIRST TIME in Media Encoder!!!!
So for now, I might try figuring out which is the culprit, but I think I'll just move the plug-ins whenever it comes time to export.
You have made my day!  (I just wish I would have asked for help months ago!)

It may be hidden since it's a system folder. You can get to it one of two ways.
Either: Hit start button + r to get run, then insert  (C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\) without the () and press enter. *This is assuming that your username is Administrator. If the folder exists it will take you there, even if it is hidden.
Other way: hit start button on keyboard and type in "folder options". Press enter when it shows up in the start menu search. Click on the View tab then select "Show hidden files, folders, or drives" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".  This should enable you to see both the AppData and Roaming folder.
