Engage 2008 Text Label Problems

I have text labels on a dashboard that when the swf file is displayed in a browser in full screen look fine.....as you start to resize the browswer there are times when the dashboard truncates those text labels instead of resizing them for display...if you resize the browser a bit smaller then they reappear...is there a way to make sure that these text labels never truncate and alway resize correct.y. I am using Engage 2008

That is a known issue because of the way the Flash Player scales text when then dashboard is not being displayed at exactly the same size (with and height) it was created inside Xcelsius.
We added a FlashVar that you can set in FP3.1 to tell Xcelsius to disable the scaling and display the size it was designed instead, or if you export to HTML the width and height are set for you in the HTML page.
See ADAPT01319531 (Height and width are not respected when a Flash object is resized) in the What's Fixed in Xcelsius 2008 Fix Pack 3.1.

Unable to utilize Drill-Down for all Filtered Dates in Xcelsius Engage 2008

Iu2019m very new to the Xcelsius Engage 2008 product and donu2019t understand what is needed to correct the drill-down problem encountered in a newly created dashboard.
The issue is with Drill-Down from a filtered chart. For some reason, I am unable to correctly pick any data item from the chart located top of workspace to drill-down to the lower chart when selecting a month beyond Jan u201911.
Iu2019ve unhidden the Label Based Menu, List Box 1 and List Box 2 during attempt to find out why I am unable to drill-down when I select a month other than Jan u201911. As youu2019ll see, when you u2018manuallyu2019 click in the unhidden List Box 2, the bottom chart is displaying the correct data.
Also - new to post for this forum - is there a way to attached the XLF to help with visual support to the problem?

Hi there and welcome.

Can you select only Jan '11? Or only up to Jan '11? Are you selecting whole months or days?
Assuming that your second chart is filtering for this date, I would check that the formatting is correct. Try, for example, removing all formatting so that you're seeing 40668 instead of a date. Does that work?
Also, it can be helpful to post your version number. This can be found under Help > About Xcelsius and will something like 5.3.5.0

How to stop text labels on numeric controls from disappearing

Got a nuisance problem I'd like to correct. When I've got a previously defined numeric control (such as a slide or knob) with text labels, upon entering the control properties window and selecting the "text labels" tab, the first label defaults to clear/empty. This is a nuisance because the text has to be retyped every time when modifying the text labels. Is this a bug or a feature? Is there any way to turn it off? Thanks.

SQL Subscription field shows * only with Dynamic Text Label in SQL query

We are using Hyperion Analyzer 7.2.x for showing budget and actual data. I have to show this financial data based on the security e.g. person in IT can see only IT dept. data. Hence I want to use dynamic text label <<userid>> for the security based on the person logging in to Analyzer.
But when I use dynamic text label <<userid>> in the SQL query in SQL Spreadsheet, SQL Subscription field shows * only selection option. Does anyone have idea how to solve this problem?

Okay i know this is a bit crazy way.....but i think this is the solution for your issue.
Create a report without the where clause (<<useris>>) then add a filter (sql subscription) then you can find all the values that are there in the SQL field (try to increase the query limit it is set to 250 as default) then edit the spreadsheet and add the where clause (<<userid>>).
This will help you having the filter and the dynamic text label. I think there is an issue when you try to filter it with a where clause.

Default UITableViewCell text label background color

I need a table view cell that just has simple text but with custom backgroundView images when not selected vs. selected. I'm too lazy to implement a custom cell, so I was using the regulation UITableViewCell, setting the backgroundView and backgroundSelectedView. The problem is for non-white backgroundView, when the cell is not selected, the text has a white box around it (the background color of the label containing the text, I assume), which looks horrible. When the cell is selected, the default UITableViewCell implementation takes care of changing the text color to white and text label background to clearColor and the custom backgroundSelectedView shows through beautifully. Is there a reason why the text label shouldn't just have a clear background color ALL THE TIME?? If the UITableViewCell is not customized for backgroundView, i.e., the cell background is white, the clear colored text label is no different from a white colored text label. If the backgroundViews are customized to non-white, a clear text label won't be in the way of the backgroundView showing through.
Does this sound like a good feature request?
How does one submit requests or bug reports for iPhone SDK anyways??

Bit bruteforce and as Apple suggests this will impact table performance, but the tables I work with aren't that big and it works well so far.
It'd be nice if UITableViewCell honored backgroundView like it does selectedBackgroundView, i.e. when the backgroundView property is set keep the cell contents transparent.

After the upgrade in Help > About your Xcelsius version number should be 5.1.3.0. (Build 12,1,3,495.)
Fix Packs are cumulative meaning that all the fixes since SP1 are included in FP3. So FP1 and FP2 do not have to be installed first.

I upgraded from 4.5 to Engage mid March so I guess I need this patch. The problem is that when I try to download it, I get two windows. The first one says:
"Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destination file could not be created"
The second window says:
"The upgrade can not be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade".
I don't understand the first message and the second does not apply. Can someone decipher these messages? Thanks!

Engage 2008: Line Graph, can't start 2nd series @ different X value

2nd series does not start at the same X value as series 1.
How do I generate the second series so the initial part of my 2nd series line does not show all 0s?

I'm using Xcelsius version: 5.0.0.99 and Build number 12,0,0,121.   I am not sure if S1 is already installed. If not, where can I get it?
This is what I'm trying to do:
1) created a basic line graph with two series
Series 1 Data has 2 columns
Series 1 Column 1 includes dates. THis will be the labels for the X axis:
1/1/07
1/6/07
1/12/07
1/1/08
1/6/08
Column 2 includes the line graph data for series 1
30
50
10
90
120, etc
Series 2 column 1 - THis is the same as series 1 since it includes the same labels for the X axis
Series 2 column 2 includes the data for the 2nd line graph
HERE's WHERE IT IS DIFFERENT
I have no data for dates 1/1, 1/6, 1/12/07.   My data starts in
2008. I don't want the graph to show 0s for the first 3 dates and then jump up to the 2008 data.   Is there a way to make the 2nd line chart start on 1/1/08?

89xx/99xx Issues, Video mute, Line Text labels

A customer of ours purchased an entire solution on 99 and 89 series model phones. The customer didn't intend to use video on every call, just some calls. Reasons include remote site bandwidth, and privacy issues of course.
What we've discovered is that if video capabilities is turned on for these phones. EVERY call is initiated as video. We then found that in the camera settings of both models, you can turn off video capabilities at the start of the call. Good. Here's the problem: Both parties get a big ugly black screen to stare at, which they have to then minimize. But worse, we discovered that both phones are consuming bandwidth on the order of 20kbps on up to 180kbps just to display the big ugly box!
I'm hoping there's a better workaround, or plans to fix this issue. My suggestion is a toggle soft-key, or a settting option that disables video capabilities entirely until it is needed in call, or escalated in the call, preferably with a remote accept. Heck any video client avilable today works this way, why can't a purpose built video endpoint do the same? I can't beleive there's a customer out there that wants every single call to be a video call no matter what...but it appears these phone models think that that's the case. All or nothing? Any ideas?
The other issue is that only 1/3 of the screen is avialable for a line text label on these models. In particular, the 89xx only allows 11 characters. This means the 79xx luxury of displaying 'firstname lastname x1234' is no longer possible. Even a BLF with a name, there's no room! At best we are limited to a last name and extension, or in extreme cases, just the extension. Basically the line text label is unusable in many cases.

Thanks for your patience as you're watching this thread. I'm not making any real headway with TAC on this. Using the "call park application" and "service directed-pickup gpickup" commands in telephony-services (as recommended by TAC), I can get the SIP phones to pick up an actively ringing call from either SIP or SCCP phones, but that also limits the SCCP phones to same. I cannot use the Pickup softkey to recall/divert a call on Hold or a call on Park.
To be honest, I think we're going to have to wait until CME 11 is released and go back through the testing process all over again. That's assuming Cisco will have addressed these issues in the SIP firmware for the 78xx phones. I really wish Cisco would release SCCP firmware for these and the 88xx phones, but I know that their direction is away from SCCP to SIP across the board.
With the upcoming release of BE6KS, I see the death knell for CME solutions as the BE6KS will have the same interface/drivers/et. al. as full blown CUCM. I also see many of my SOHO customers going to other solutions as Cisco will more than likely end up being too complicated and over priced for the smaller environments.

i want to set any text label or i want to design query in such manner that whatever the value is selected by client in selection screen is become heading in query . like if i select posting date then that range should be displayed in heading portion of the query.

Goto teh Query Description and select the Text variable Icon (yellow coloured). Create a Text variable with processing type as Replacement path and give the Characteristic as the posting date.
If you are having range then you need to create two Text variables one for FROM and other for TO. Use both the text variables in teh query description..

Last night I updated to Firefox 29.0.1. Now, I don't mind change - and I don't mind redesigns - but I HATE it when options are removed. I want text labels on my buttons (the "Home" button for example"). In the previous version of Firefox you could right-click in the grey space at the top, and select "customise". From there, you could drag and drop which things you wanted to appear in your toolbar or not - and there was a tickbox to selext if you wanted text labels to appear underneath them or not. Now as hard as I look, I can't find this option. It looks like you're now forcing people to ONLY use icons. I hate that. My brain processes the word "Home" a lot faster than it recognises a little picture of a house. You need to understand that people work in different ways - and just because the Firefox developers might not personally use the text labels, that doesn't mean that no-one does!
What is the point in taking away the option? None at all. Please re-introduce the option. In the meantime, I will revert to the previous version of Firefox.
Additionally, I see that the tabs have now moved on top of the address bar. Again - WHY? I like them below. Why do you feel the need to make design changes - and then not give people the option to customise things how they like?

Changing a text label

Hi CRM experts...
I am currently working on CRMM_ACCOUNTS. I am trying to replace a text label and I have no idea where to begin, I have tried to use the CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C -> Layout of user Interface->Application Element->Rename Interface text and define text elements where no entries exist. Is ther something that I didn't do prior to CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C transaction.

              First find out the data element for that corresponding field.
              how to find out the data element.:
Lets consider your field name is ABC and it is present in the filed group XYZ, now find out the structure assigned to this Field group XYZ, lets consider the strucure is MNO, go to that structure and find out the Component type for that corrsponding field ABC. Now lets consider the component type of ABC is COMP.
              now go to the CMOD transaction, then in this transaction GOTO>TextEnhancements>KeyWords->Change> and here enter the componentType(COMM) in the data element.
Here change the text for the mediun/short/Long field what ever u reqired and save it.
Hope this may be useful.
Or else let me know which exact field text you want to change it, then i can provide you the direct solution.

Rotating text label with complex fonts (arabic)

i got the next problem:
rotating dynamically created TextField with any angle (using
embedded fonts of course). if i use standard fonts, latin sybmols -
everything works excellent. but if i use arabic fonts - text labels
behave very strange - complex arabic symbols are not shown.
for example, 2 symbols "lj" give 1 complex arabian symbol to
show. but when using in rotating mode with embedded fonts those
"lj" are just shown separately, not as one.
did anyone have such experience? how this could be solved?
maybe the same behavior with japan?

Text box problem or question

I'm having the text field problem. I have two text boxes (inside my .fla file) one i can add more text without the box expanding and can then select the text and croll down to view the missing text and the other one just gets longer the more text I add. I'm trying to duplicate the text box that does not expand the more text I add to it.
All the settings in the properties are the same on both and I've tried it in MX and CS3 and the both have the same properties in both.
I'm stumped can anyone help.

If you right click the textfield on the stage you can select the "scrollable" option for it. Another option to duplicate the textfield is to copy/paste it.

I agree with whereitis above, I hate it when options are removed (ex: the Bookmarks side panel (Ctrl-B) button missing) etc.. Firefox's major BOLD one-liner is: CUSTIMAZATION. Now to regain this CUSTIMAZATION freedom, Firefox suggest to solve this by installing the ADDON "Classic Theme Restorer". I don't want to install any ADDON to customize Firefox! I went with Firefox because it was CUSTOMIZABLE, and that is the only reason why I went with this web browser! Now, Firefox is asking me to add an ADDON to CUSTOMIZE it. What is this?!
