English dictionary in csv format to create Apex page
Hello,
Im looking for a Free English dictionary in csv format that I can use to load into Apex as a page.
Ive Googled and have seen many links for such, but many of the links are now invalid, or the file is not free, or the file is not in a csv format.
Has anyone implemented such a feature and could lead me to an actual site where I can download the file.
Thanks,
Laura
Thanks for the tip.... I was able to access the file, but it has too many non-common words ex. ( ABFM, abl. abn, ABSBH, etc....)
Thanks,
Laura

Creating APEX pages via SQL scripts..
Hi Guys,
I want to create APEX pages via SQL Script. The main reason to have this option that I have couple of applications which has XML files for screen definition where I can read all screen properties (field types, sizes, caption, etc...)
Is there any documentation or help stuff where I can find the APEX page definition tables? I found something like WWV tables but I couldnt figure it out properly...
Any help ?
Thanks,
Osman...We have built our entire apex app in a similar way. We create the shell apex pages using apex (eg, Item Detail, Insert Item, etc.). Then we create a PL/SQL region on the page. The PL/SQL region simply calls a stored procedure to render the controls on the page. For example, our regions looks similar to this:
begin
apex_pkg.sp_render_page('ITEM_DETAIL',Param1,Param2,Param3);
end;
The sp_render_page procedure in the database generates the appropriate HTML for the page. This procedure reads meta data in the database (eg, field label, field size, field type, field position, etc.) and renders the same HTML that apex would render if the apex page was manually created. For example, in the procedure we use lines similar to these:
HTP.p(apex_item.text(...))
HTP.p(apex_item.select_list_from_query(...))
Because the procedure is reading meta data, the apex page is dynamic and can be different for different users or clients.

How can I export to Text and/or CSV format and get correct page info?
I am using CRVS2010 to upgrade an application from CRXI RDC to .Net. When at runtime I generate the report and export to Text or CharacterSeparatedValues my page footers show Page -1 of 1. Using the CRXI RDC, I see the correct page info in the footers.
When I export to Text, I get the Page -1 of 1 for every page. If I set LinesPerPage to zero, then I get it all on one page, which still has Page -1 of 1 at the end.
If I export to CSV, I get Page -1 of 1 for every line. If I use the viewer to review the report at runtime, and export from there, I cannot export as Text so I have no comparison. However, the Export to CSV from the Viewer as Page -1 of 1for every entry just as my export does.
What do I need to do to get the correct line info? What is that is different from CRXI RDC and CRVS2010 .net that would impact this behavior?Yes, I am using SP2 for VS 2010 and I'm using the Page N of M formula in the page footer. While my export code was not quite as simple as yours, I did it both ways in my test program with the same results. A one page report whose footer says Page -1 of 1.
Here's the relative code snippet:
#if 0
CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportOptions ^exportOptions = gcnew CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportOptions();
exportOptions->ExportDestinationType = CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportDestinationType::DiskFile;
exportOptions->ExportFormatType = CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportFormatType::Text;
TextFormatOptions ^textFormatOptions = exportOptions->CreateTextFormatOptions();
textFormatOptions->LinesPerPage = 0;
textFormatOptions->CharactersPerInch = 11;
exportOptions->FormatOptions = textFormatOptions;
CrystalDecisions::Shared::DiskFileDestinationOptions ^diskFileDestinationOptions = exportOptions->CreateDiskFileDestinationOptions();
diskFileDestinationOptions->DiskFileName = gcnew System::String("c:\temp\test.txt");
exportOptions->DestinationOptions = diskFileDestinationOptions;
thisReport.Export(exportOptions);
#else
thisReport.ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportFormatType::Text, gcnew System::String("c:\temp\test.txt"));

Creating CSV format/files from Objects
Hi,
Context : I need to convert a linear object (having only one level of member variables) into CSV format.
Progress: I have been able to create CSV format if strings are passed.
Requirement: However, I was wondering if it is possible to create the entire CSV at one shot, instead of having to pass the object members separately, as this wud turn out to be very cumbersome for objects with lots of members...
Is there a way to create a csv file or formatted text, if given a linear object?
Any pointers appreciated
Cheers!
Nicki was wondering....
if the class is dynamically created at runtime, then we would not be able to build such a functionality. Any thoughts? -
Creating a report in CSV format
Hi experts,
Can you please tell me how can i make a report in a csv format.

Or use After Report Trigger to directly write to a file. Search this Forum for detail! -
IN Apex the default format for csv file type is 'Microsoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values File. IS there a way to change it to CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)
The first one is the only option showing in Apex, the second option is what you get if you choose to open in excel instead of "save" and then hit file - save as - from excel.
The first one - in Apex - double quotes all fields in the csv file - the second one doenst quote anything. I would like the end user to be able to default to the CSV format when pressing save from the csv export window rather than having to open in excel first, then doing a save as
- not a show stopper but its 3 extra keystrokes that they are complaining about....
Edited by: DSULLIVAN on Aug 13, 2010 9:36 AMSimple solution.. Create an Export routine that will build the file in the format you want, add a link at the bottom of your report region, just like exists with the Standard export, and have it export to the local file system..
Here are a few a good examples to look at:

EXPORT to text or CSV format from a form
Dear all,
Could you please help me to export the data from my form to a text file or to a csv format. I am very new to forms.
i need to export the data from the oracle form to a text file or CSV file format.
I had created form named as form1.
In form1 i have a block named as block1. In this block i have 4fields as field1, field2, field3, field4. using a tabe1 which has the same 4fields.
This form is in tabular form.
Example:
In the form i have data like as below and i got this data from table1. I used a execute query to get the data from the table into this form.
field1 field2 field3 field4
raj 1234 abc 510
dil 777 hi 787
Now my requirement is i need to export this data into a file, when i click on a button(Export) it has to browse for a folder on my desktop and i have to name the filename to save the data.
Please help me.
Thanks in advance.This should be almost same as in your previous task for import data.
Try this:
DECLARE
v_file_name VARCHAR2 (100);
v_file client_text_io.file_type;
v_delimiter VARCHAR2(1) := ',';
BEGIN
v_file_name := webutil_file.file_save_dialog;
v_file := client_text_io.fopen (v_file_name, 'w');
GO_BLOCK ('block1');
FIRST_RECORD;
LOOP
client_text_io.PUT_LINE(v_file, :block1.field1||v_delimiter||:BLOCK1.field2||v_delimiter||:BLOCK1.field3||v_delimiter||:BLOCK1.field4);
IF :SYSTEM.LAST_RECORD = 'TRUE' THEN
EXIT;
END IF;
NEXT_RECORD;
END LOOP;
client_text_io.fclose (v_file);
END; -
Need help in writing data to a flat file in .csv format
Hi All,
could you please show with a sample example to write data in .csv format using UTL_file.
The result of the refcursor i want to write to a file in .csv format.
How can i achieve this.
ThxHi,
There are two ways to acheive this.
First and which I prefer is creating a SQL script which will generate csv file at the specified location in CSV format. And then this SQL script can be called from your cron job similar to how you call stored procedure. Following is pseudo code that can be used -
set linesize 500
set echo off
set feedback off
set prompt off
set pagesize 0
spool <name of the csv file>.csv
<Your select statement>;
spool offPut select statement delimiting columns you want to use with ','. E.g. following query should create a CSV file named as abc.csv with one record and 2 columns delimited by comma. First column is ENO and second column is ENAME.
set linesize 500
set echo off
set feedback off
set prompt off
set pagesize 0
spool abc.csv
select ENO || ',' || ENAME from employee;
spool offSecond, you can write a PLSQL procedure and then call this procedure from cron job. There is a generic procedure shared by BluShadow some time back which is a very good example for this. Please refer to following link for this solution -
REF Cursor creating CSV files
I will suggest to use first method above if possible since it will be faster and less complicated in my opinion. Second method is recommended for scenarios where select statement is created dynamically and cannot be written during development.
Hope this solves your purpose.

Problem in exporting report in CSV format
Hi All,
I am using Crystal Reports. Following are details about it:
CR Developer
Product 8.5.0.217
*_Problem that I am facing:__*_
I can create report in .rpt format, it is working fine here. But while trying to export this report in CSV format, it gives report that doesn't contain any information.
Is it because I am missing something or it is a known issue?
Thanks and Regards,
AnandHi,
I too am facing the same problem.
The report was made in 8.5. I have exported the report & opened it in Crystal report 12.
I can export to PDF, RTF, DOC & Tab separated Test.
However when I export this report in .csv (legacy mode) I just get the header & when I export it in .csv (Standard) I get a blanck .csv file.
I have checked 'Isolate Report/Page sections' and 'Isolate Group sections'. Still no data in the report.
refreshed it too.
I contains sub reports, but not in the page header & footer (I think) & it does not seem to have cross tabs & OLAP grids.
Any help is appreciated.

Exporting report as PDF and CSV formats same time with out executing DB query twice
Post Author: cpriyanka
CA Forum: Exporting
I am using Crystal Report 9.0 version and Java.
I am getting "PrintOutputController" from "ReportClientDocument"
And then by calling export(ReportExportFormat.PDF) generating PDF format report.
Now I need to generate both PDF and CSV format files same time. How can it be done?
My understanding is when we call "export" it does the DB query execution and other functionality.
In that case, if I call "export" two times with two different formats, then DB query will be executed twice and that takes lot of time.
To avoid, is there a way I can all some API so DB query executed once, but I can export report in to multiple formats?
I appreciate your help.
Thanks.Post Author: cjmorris1201
CA Forum: Exporting
Hello,
Are you using the "pull" or "push" method for your crystal reports? If you are using the "pull" method (the report itself executes the sql) then I believe there is no way around having the query execute twice since it is fired off each time you open and export the report.
If you use the "push" method, however, then you can just create the recordset/dataset and then set the datasouce once for the report.
Here's a broad overview of push and pull though the Crystal Report Viewer is used. The viewer may or may not be applicable in your case:

In an Apex report SQL query, i had written a statement for the column as
'<div style="width: 260px;">'|| PARTY_NAME || '</div>' as PARTY_NAME to avoid wrapping of the column text.
Now, when i download the report in csv format, i get the output in PARTY_NAME column as follows:
<div style="width: 260px;">SELF</div> instead if SELFPlease suggest the solution.
YogeshHi,
Remove HTML from select.
Add this to page HTML header
<style>
#apexir_PARTY_NAME{width:260px!important}

How can I export the universe to CSV format in Rational (java)
How can I export the universe to CSV format in Rational ,please give me one demo .thanks!!
There's no direct access to an Universe from Java - Universes do have an SDK, but it's COM-based.
If what you want is to retrieve data from the Universe, what you can do is create a Web Intelligence document reporting off that Universe, create a Query with the data you want from the Universe, then use the ReportEngine (REBean) SDK to retrieve the ResultSet from the Query - note that there's no CSV export option, so you'd have to walk through the ResultSet and write to an CSV yourself.
