Entity beans not loaded due to problem loading WebLogic_RDBMS.jar dynamically

Hi,
I'm new to WebLogic so bear with me! When I start WebLogic (using
Microsofts SDK for Java 4.0), all me session beans load up fine, but none of
my entity beans load. The error I get for each is:
[EJB]: Server cannot load: d:\weblogic\lib\persistence\WebLogic_RDBMS.jar
dynamically. Attempting to load from classpath
... and then it goes on to say that it could not deploy the entity bean jar
file giving a list of possible reasons. I'm guessing that the problem stems
from the fact that the persistence jar file could not be loaded (correct me
if I'm wrong!).
Has anyone come across this before? I have included the WebLogic_RDBMS.jar
file in my classpath when I start WebLogic to see if this would help but to
no avail.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Ciaran

Please see my response in the ejb newsgroup.

  • Ribbon area of the Entity is not loading

    Hi,
    Ribbon area of the Entity is not loading .
    Please suggest me what are the reasons.
    regards

    Benarji Sandra-MS Dynamics CRM Developer

    Hi Benarji,
    Usually this is due to the URL being incorrect. Does this happen on any other entities (for example an account), or any other Service Ticket records?
    How are you opening the form? Is it from a view or are you opening it from somewhere else?
    You can check the URL of the record (if you're unable to see it already), by clicking Ctrl + N to open the record in a new window where you can access the URL.
    If this contains '/Main.aspx' instead of '/main.aspx' (Uppercase instead of Lowercase) then the ribbon will fail to load.
    Let me know if this is the problem, otherwise post the URL here so I can check it.

  • Ejb3 entity bean not generating valid sql for postgres 8.1

    Hello,
    I originally posted this on the jboss seam board as I ran across this error on a seam test example, but it seems it's more generally applicable to ejb3 entity beans not generating sql that postgres can understand. I'll post my message below, all replies are appreciated.
    I'm going through the hello world example from the seam book, and I'm getting an error I cannot resolve, that with an auto generated sql statement, that's not valid for postgres 8.1, the database I'm on. Here's my error:
    17:40:31,370 INFO [STDOUT] Hibernate: select next value for person_id_seq from dual_person_id_seq
    17:40:31,394 WARN [JDBCExceptionReporter] SQL Error: 0, SQLState: 42601
    17:40:31,394 ERROR [JDBCExceptionReporter] ERROR: syntax error at or near "value"
    17:40:31,396 FATAL [application] javax.ejb.EJBException: javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.exception.SQLGrammarException: could not get next sequence value
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: javax.ejb.EJBException: javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.exception.SQLGrammarException: could not get next sequence value
    Here's the table definition
    - create table Person (id bigint not null, name varchar(255), primary key (id))
    - create table dual_person_id_seq (zero integer)
    - create sequence person_id_seq start with 1 increment by 1
    and here's the entity bean:
    @Entity
    @Name("person")
    @Table(name="person")
    @SequenceGenerator(name="person_sequence", sequenceName="person_id_seq")
    public class Person implements Serializable {
    private long id;
    private String name;
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator="person_sequence")
    public long getId() { return id;}
    public void setId(long id) { this.id = id; }
    public String getName() { return name; }
    public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; }
    How do I get it to generate a valid sql statement for postgres?

    I think you should try putting the sequence generator annotation over the primary key field. Try it and be sure it works.

  • Entity Beans not getting garbage collected

    Hi,
    I am developing an application that is using EJBs utilizing several common design patterns (i.e. Session Facade, DAO, and Fast Lane Reader). All of the patterns used have come from books by Sun Microsystems Press.
    As I have understood the pattern, the Session Facade pattern uses Stateless Session Beans (SLSB) to implement a desired functionality and accesses the entity beans locally. The results from the entity beans are placed into Value Objects and passed back to the client separating any direct access with the entity beans from the client. In my case, I am using BMP for my entity beans.
    The problem I am seeing with Optimizeit is that none of my entity beans are getting garbage collected despite no references to them. The SLSB creates what entities it needs to perform a task at the local level, puts the data into a value object and goes out of scope.
    Shouldn't the entity beans get removed if the object that references them has gone away or am I missing something?
    Is there a proper way to set an entity bean (or any EJB for that matter) for garbage collection.
    thanks in advance for any help...

    You might even discover that entity beans can get created even before you use them.
    Your application server creates "pools" of bean instances that it can use when it needs to. It is part of this role, and is done in order to optimize performances.
    You cannot force them to be garbage collected. Even if you stop referencing them, the app server will.
    When your create references to a bean, it (usually) won't create an instance. It will take an existing one, and load data into it, using ejbCreate or ejbActivate.
    Hope this helps.

  • Entity bean (ejb 3.0) refactoring problem

    I didn't find a better method than regenerating an entity bean after modifying the table definition and renaming the class after deleting the old one.
    I'm not sure i can delete the old class representing the entity bean before regenerating it without any effects into the others entity beans.
    It work fine but still a little problem. The refactoring process didn't change the name of the entity bean into the select clauses into queynamed injection.

    I am facing a similar problem. Does JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3.3.0) provide an automatic process to update an Entity Bean definition when the underlying database table definition changes?
    I also noticed that for JDeveloper to create all the relationships (i.e. @OneToMany, @ManyToOne) between multiple Entity beans, I need to create all the Entity beans together in one pass using the wizard. If two entities depend on each other, and not created together, JDeveloper will not create the relationships between them. Is there a way around that?
    Thank you

  • Entity beans not understood

    hello,
    I am new to ejb. I know that I have come to the right technology and now to the right forum. I have got quite a good grasp on session beans but I don't understand the entity beans.
    I have a couple of questions.
    Firstly if every bean represents a single record in a database then what's th logic behind having these beans in the first place. suppose I have about 10 milion records in one of my table then does that mean I have 10000000 instences of that entity bean? and what will be the advantage of such an arrangement.
    secondly, do I always need entity beans to manage data from a database? I mean what is wrong if I do all that in a session bean? I do connect to a database with jdbc in servlets and jsp, so what is the problem in doing same in a session bean.
    and one general question, how heavy is the remote object on the client machine, what I am asking is, if when I locate the bean using the home interface or home object if you like it, I get access to the remote object. so how heavy is the remote object when I download it on my client machine?
    thanks
    Krishnakant.

    Hi,
    If you want to have 10 million records it is not necessarily 10 million Entity Beans will be instatiated. EJB container pools the EntityBeans and uses then accordingly.
    Writing DataBase code in Servlets/JSP is not a good idea. If you want to get the benefits of layered Architecture we have to follow certain design patterns. DB operations can be handled trhu EntityBeans are DAO factories.

  • Jinit not loading webutil jar files

    Hello,
    Our Application Server has had webutil installed on it for quiet some time now. I am implementing a custom Banner Form that requires webutil functionality. Well the form is all set, but the webutil portion does not function correctly. I have been working with the designers of this application and they recommended I make sure that my archive_jini and archive parameters be set in the file /u01/app/oracle/product/10gASforms/10.1.2/forms/server/formsweb.cfg as follows:
    archive_jini=banicons.jar,bannerui.jar,banspecial.jar,banorep.jar,frmall_jinit.jar,gwucustom.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    archive=banicons.jar,bannerui.jar,banspecial.jar,banorep.jar,frmall.jar,gwucustom.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    so I set these up as requested. When I look at my Java Console I only see the following load:
    banicons.jar, bannerui.jar, banspecial.jar, banorep.jar and frmall_jinit.jar
    I do not see gwucustom.jar, frmwebutil or jacob.jar load.
    Is there something I am missing? Do I have to restart the Application Server?
    Thank you much in advance for any guidance anyone can provide!
    -Stan

    I actually corrected this issue myself.
    In the formsweb.cfg file I added these properties under the default section.
    There is a section called jinit_pprd (My Pre-Production test server, I added these values under there and the .jar files are now loading.

    I create several file name entities in an external DTD.
    It used to work sometimes back but I don't remember now when it begun to fail.
    typical document for eg., is given below:
    <!DOCTYPE PURANA SYSTEM "purana.dtd" [ <!ENTITY CHAPTER_1 SYSTEM "./chapter_1.xml"> ]>
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="purana.xsl"?> <PURANA>
    <TITLE>

    the abbreviation used to work by loading the file using XSL script,
    but now it does not even work when the entity is defined within the XML document itself.

    Too difficult???

  • Spring Bean not loading in Coherence 3.5

    Hi,

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I am doing that programmatically. Below mentioned is the code.
    loadSystemProperties(connectionProps);
    InputStream is = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(fileName); //coherence cache config file.
    XmlDocument xmlDocument = XmlHelper.loadXml(is);
    SpringAwareCacheFactory defaultConfigurableCacheFactory = new SpringAwareCacheFactory();
    defaultConfigurableCacheFactory.setBeanFactory(currrentContext); //Spring injected context
    defaultConfigurableCacheFactory.setConfig(xmlDocument);
    CacheFactory.setConfigurableCacheFactory(defaultConfigurableCacheFactory);
    CacheFactory.ensureCluster();
    When I put jar files of Coherence 3.4 its loading spring beans properly. But when I put Coherence 3.5.1 everything breaks.
    Thanks,
    Thariq

    I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP with SP2. I tried running it with IE7 and it gives me the same exact problem. It can't be my browser because it loads JAR'ed applets on any other webpage just fine.
    I tried it with a non-obfuscated JAR, and it STILL gives me the same error. Do you have any ideas as to why it would choose to ignore the archive attribute?
    EDIT: I think it might be because I signed it improperly, lemme try that.
    EDIT2: Nope, still doesnt work
    EDIT3: Problem solved, it was because the JAR needed a unique name, and i already had a jar of the same name in my cache.

  • GIF files not loading from jar in Netscape

    Hi,
    I have a jar file that contains my applet code(class files) and a bunch of gif files. I load the image using the URL returned from getCodeBase() method. The images load fine in Explorer but they do not show up in Netscape. The class files and gif files are not in separate directories and getCodeBase is returning the correct URL of my server(Example: http://www.myserver.com). Does anyone know how to fix this? I also noticed that download time did not improve on either browser when I bundled all the gif file in the jar rather than place them outside the jar file. Isn't bundling them in the jar supposed to save multiple requests back to the server to get the gifs and thus reduce download time? Thanks in advance.

    There the sample from Netscape: http://developer.netscape.com/docs/technote/java/getresource/getresource.html#classloader

  • ImageIcon not loading from Jar file

    Hi,
    I'm developing an application that uses ImageIcons in JButtons.
    The images are stored in the following relative dir:
    images/<filename>.jpg
    They load fine when I run the application from class files in the appropriate directory.
    However when I jar everything, my ImageIcons don't load.
    I know that my jar file is in the classpath, because other items in the jar file load successfully.
    I've tried everything the related threads recommend, but still nothing.
    When I try to launch from the jar file, the ClassLoader.getResource("filepath"); returns null.
    Whereas when I launch the class files, it returns the correct URL for the image.
    What am I missing? Is this jar file security-related? Do I need to sign the jar file with all-permissions?
    Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
    I'm using java 1.4.2_01-b06
    Much thanks,

  • Bean Managed Entity Beans(EJB) using Tangosol.

    I am trying to use Bean Managed Entity Beans using Tangosol Coherence.
    The entity bean is currently configured in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml with:
    <max-beans-in-cache>200</max-beans-in-cache>
    In the public void ejbLoad() method, I am calling the Tangosol Cache to load the entity bean.
    If we have have more that 200 request coming at the same time, we get an OutOfMemoryError exception.
    Is there anyway to overcome this limitation by somehow having the ejb cache to use the tangosol cache?
    Thanks for any help in advance.
    Krishan

    So far, it's not immediately obvious to us what the exact problem is that you are seeing. It sounds like the VM would be using at least 200MB just for the application server's own internal cache, for example, and that you are also using Coherence within the application server to provide additional caching.
    If possible, we should set up a phone call with you and your team, and we could get an engineer from our end to walk through your specific use case with you, so that we could understand what the exact technical challenge(s) is(are) in this particular application.
    Peace.
    p.s. You can email [email protected] directly to schedule a call.

  • 8.1.7 and Entity Beans. Where is Patch 8.1.7.1???

    I would like to be able to deploy CMP Entity Beans to 8.1.7 on Solaris using JDeveloper 3.2.2
    The release notes indicate that this is a bug and is awaiting a patch. My two questions are:
    1. When can we expect Patchset 8.1.7.1 for Solaris?
    2. Could someone please describe for me the best way to write a CMP Entity Bean in JDeveloper 3.2.2 (w/descriptors & JAR'ed etc...) and then use the Oracle Command Line tools to load this bean? ie. what are the pitfalls?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thx alot..
    When will JDev 3.2 be available for evaluation download ?
    (The firm im working for is about to buy a complete system from the east, and i need to know how things perform before recommending purchase of system/archtecture and oracle tools).
    Incedently, i experienced a problem with session beans on 8.1.6, if i killed my client app somewhere along a lookup and remote.create the sessionbean would completely die, only thing to do was to redeploy it(not even reboot cured it) (i could create it, but reading serilized objects gave a marshall exception every single time..)
    I want to know if this is a known issue? and if it is, has it been 'fixed' in 8.1.7?
    By the way, everything is running on localhost on a win2k pro box.
    Thx alot for your time.

  • JDO or Entity Beans?

    I read on an article : "
    1. entity beans are slow (due to RMI calls).
    2. EJBQL is a weak language; complex operations are not permitted.
    3. it is difficult to map into an entity bean complex data.
    You should utilize JDO instead of Entity Beans."
    What do you think about these statemets?

    1. With local interfaces you can eliminate many RMI calls. Many
    containers had optimized this anyway prior to EJB 2.0
    2. EJBQL is new and will be enhanced rapidly as it is adopted. The
    latest draft addresses these issues.
    3. EJB relationships help in this area although they will also require
    time to mature.
    I feel JDO has its place. I especially like JDO where many rows are
    required - it can be an excellent active/passive caching mechanism. But I would pursue EJB for bringing up the state of a business process/transaction.
