Epson Print CD problem

It appears at some time in the past few months a problem with directly printing to CD/DCDs on Epson printers has developed. It occurs on older 10.2, 10.4x and the new intel based software. My G5 running 10.4.8 was working fine with a R300 epson, when suddenly a few moths ago the CD printing would not work with the Print CD software. It gave an error message that the CD/DVD tray is open. I though the printer CD tray maechanism was busted so I bought a new R340: same problem. Resinstalled software, deleted software, reinstalled origional 10.4 OS. Epson says that the error message you get now when you attempt to print (the epson printer driver dealing with CD Printing is not installed) is "normal" you should click OK, next screen click manual print upper right, settings-page attributes, format-pick your printer, paper size-A4 (this is critical there are two A4 choices you must pick the plain A4). Click OK. make sure your printer is still selected. in copies and settings pick media type and then pick CD/DVD. You can now save this as a preset.
If you uninstall the software make sure that you delete the Epson folder in applications, the epson printer utility in utility folder, The epson files in the home users/preferences folder, ultility/ printer delete epson folder. empty trash restart computer, reinstall software, go to printer setup in utiltity folder and locate and add your printer

thank you thank you thank you! I've been pulling my hair out with my Epson R1800 print to CD issue (no driver etc...) called epson an hour later they were no help... this post gave me the info to try that DID allow me to print on my CD/DVD's.
I know this was an old post, but it was a NEW problem for me - so again - thanks!

  • CS5 shared epson printer scaling problem

I'm experiencing a baffling problem with my trusty Epson 2400 and CS5. I have for years used this printer on my wireless network as a shared printer for my various apple devices. I have Macs running CS4 and CS5, but right about the time I added CS5 to the mix, any prints from any of the four Macs that are sent over the network from any Adobe app print at about 50%. It only happens in Adobe apps. The same PDF for instance printed out of Preview prints just fine, but at 50% from Acrobat. Same story with all the other Adobe apps. The problem doesn't occur when printing directly from the station plugged into the printer.
I'm running OSX 10.6.8. I've downloaded the most recent Epson drivers, and the Epson Print Driver's Installer 2.7. I've uninstalled the printer on all stations and re-added. Even trashed the Epson print folders in the Library on all stations and run the Epson installers again.
Anyone have any common experiences or any ideas?
    Many thanks

    Thanks BDAqua -
That's got my iMac speaking to the printer again. Unfortunately it's not giving me all I need to use the R800 as a photo printer, as I'm still not getting all the options I should get in the Driver dialogue. If I pick the driver for the non-shared R800 from the Printers drop-down, I get the following list in the 3rd drop-down (after the Printer and Presets menus):
    Copies & Pages
    Layout
    Scheduler
    Paper Handling
    ColorSync
    Cover Page
    *Print Settings*
    *Color Management*
    Extension Settings
    (App Name*)
    Summary
If, however, I pick the R800 from the Shared Printers list in the Printers drop-down, I get this truncated version
    Copies & Pages
    Layout
    Scheduler
    Paper Handling
    ColorSync
    Cover Page
    (App Name*)
    Summary
*Note: The app name is present in these menus if trying to print from MS Word or Safari, but is not there in the case of Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom. It's of no real interest in this context, though - in the present context it is the absence of the "Print Settings" and "Color Management" options which is critically important.
I guess this is maybe an Epson thing rather than an Apple thing, so maybe I will need to post elsewhere to get to the answer, but I'm really not sure where that might be.
So once again, any suggestions most welcome

  • Epson print profile problem. Prints overexposed.

I am doing something wrong so here it goes. I was printing on Epson semi gloss paper and all was fine. I switched to Epson Premium Glossy paper, switch to what I think is the proper printing profile according to the Epson website, but now when I print all my photos are overexposed. On the screen they look fine. I have tried to adjust using Aperture but it appears I cannot adjust enough to make a difference. My printer is an Epson R2400, I believe all my drivers are up to date, as well as my Mac software. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am pretty sure there is a bug in Aperture, because I can get perfect prints from Preview or almost any other app, but with Aperture 2.1.1 and Mac OS X 10.5.5, my colors are off. Note, my problem is prints are too dark, not too light, and my prints from Aperture have a green cast.
After struggling with this for a while, I think I have a work around. I posted it here: http://blogs.oreilly.com/aperture/2008/06/printing-tips.html. Copied below, for your convenience. I hope it helps.

I am using a Epson R1900 (which is a huge improvement from my Epson Stylus Photo 870). I have a calibrated display, and colors are on very good on the display.
I use the latest printer driver from Epson. NOT the Gutenprint, gimp, or cups print drivers. I tried those, and was not pleased.
Here is my workflow and settings.
Select Print (image, book, whatever) to get the printer dialog. Select your printer. Then (this is important), select ColorSync Profile = SystemManaged.
Now, hit the print setting button. Select the driver specific setting from the pop-up menu. On an Epson, it is called "Print Settings". Then select your paper type, color= color, 16bits, color settings= 'Off (No Color Adjustment)', print quality, and speed. If you have advanced settings, check those. My advanced setting tells me the name of my colorsync profile. Very handy if you are going to calibrate your printer for different papers.
Now everything is set up. It should print fine. But is doesn't. At least in Aperture. So, hit Preview in the main print dialog box. That should send a PDF temporary file to Preview. In Preview, select print. Now do all the settings again.
In Preview, there is a "Color Matching" setting on the popup menu. Select Color Matching, ColorSync (as opposed to EPSON Color Controls). I select profile "Automatic" which gives the same profile noted above under advanced settings.
Now, finally, you can print. And the prints look great.
From any application besides Aperture, the colors are so good on the print, I did not even bother to calibrate the printer. The stock profiles are perfect. Using the work around above, I also get excellent color.
Using Aperture, with either the colorsync profile selected in Aperture, or using System Managed, I get poor results. Too dark with a green cast. But by sending the print to Preview first, I am able to work around the bug.

  • Epson printer driver problem

Printer model name: Stylus Photo R300M
    Date of Purchase: NA
    Serial Number:
    Computer Type: Other Mac
Operating System: Mac OS X v10.3.9
    Interface: USB
Detailed Description: I have an Epson Stylus photo r300. I run mac os
10.3.9. Recently I had my OS crsh and had to reinstall it. before this my printer ran fine. I have reinstalled the the printer software from the disc it came with (SPR 300 series 17b). As well as Epson 11890 easy print and Epson 10894 driver. When I go to add printer (under edit printer list) my mac can see "Epson stylus Photo R300" under product, but tells me no drivers are installed. I've reinstalled and retstarted numerous times. Do I have multiple driver conflicts? How do I uninstall, or find where the drivers are located?
    What should I do.
    thanks in advance.

    hi Frank,
I just came across the same problem yesterday trying to get a driver for my Epson Photo R300 printer. It seems that OS 10.3.9 falls between the cracks as far as Epson is concerned - the CD that came with my printer stops at 10.2. and none of the driver downloads on the Epson website exactly fit 10.3.9. But I found a driver nonetheless through a google search and it's working for me now! So far so good anyway. It's at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15970. Make sure to follow their directions carefully for installing the driver.
    Good luck,

  • Mavericks and Epson Printer driver problem

What is the issue with the Mavericks to Epson Pro Printer driver upgrade which produces the error message: "filter failure?" The result is no printing. After wading through blogs, chat rooms and both Epson and Apple sites, installing and reinstalling components, I found this cryptic Epson post, under FAQ:
Q: Should I perform Apple's Software Update to get the latest OS X 10.10 printer software for my Epson Pro printer?
A: No. Do not run the software update; the printer software for your product is only available from the Epson support site.
Q: Should I remove previous versions of my Epson Pro printer software before I install the OS X 10.10 printer software?
A: Yes, remove the previous versions of the printer software.
It truly annoys me that this information is not available when we begin to update drivers and operating systems. My Epson Pro 3880 is now printing perfectly from Lightroom as it should.

  • Epson Printer Sharing Problem

I have two printers connected to my MacPro - a cheap Canon iP2600 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. I have Printer Sharing switched on on both the MacPro and my iMac G4 800, and they are linked through a wireless router via AirPort card in the iMac, and Ethernet from the MacPro.
Here's the problem: for some time I've had the setup described above, but always printed to the Epson from the MacPro (usually from Photoshop or Lightroom). From the iMac, I've always printed to the Canon (and or to the Samsung which the Canon replaced recently), usually from things like MS Word or Excel.
Tonight I've been trying to set up the iMac so my wife can print to the Epson from Lightroom, but I find that it is not possible to do so - I get a Communication Error, and it's clear that the iMac is not able to communicate with the Epson unless I actually connect them directly by FireWire. Also I don't get the full range of options in the driver - two key items (Print Settings & Color Management) are not present in the "Copies & Pages" drop-down menu - when I try to connect to the Shared Printer.
I know that the PowerPC and Intel Macs use different drivers, and suspect this may be the problem.
Can anyone suggest a way forward for this? Or Have I hit the buffers on printer sharing here?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
    Jim

  • New Epson printer compatibility problem?

    Hello!
I'm trying to set up a new printer for my parents, who have the iMac G4 running 10.4.11.
My brother-in-law bought an Epson XP-200 Small-in-One printer.  On the Epson support page for drivers for this printer,
I selected Mac OSX 10.4.x, and the available driver was Common Updater v9.0, epson14284.dmg.
I downloaded this driver, installed it, and then Added the printer in Printer Setup Utility.
In Printer Setup Utility, the printer was recognized as: XP-200 Series.
For Print Using, I selected Epson.
A list of models appeared, and the XP-200 was not among them (no XP was listed).
But every model listed had the same thing after the model name:  Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2
So I selected the first model.
The printer does print, but painfully slowly, with terrible output (pale print, and non-black text is rendered in multiple,
    different-colored, vertically shifted lines).
It looks like the Utility function (for checking ink, e.g.) isn't available.
Is this an issue of an insufficient driver for an "old" OSX?
Or have I not done the setup right?
Is there new printer that works easily and well with 10.4.11?
    Thanks!

HI, sad as it is since Epson Printers really use the same  language since Atari days, (escP), no idea who to blame other than Apple  changing requirements without real need, but...

I have an Epson printer on a Wifi network. Windows 7 desktop is running the network, and my wife's HP Win 7 laptop prints to it just fine. My MacBook Pro running Yosemite won't detect it, and I do have the latest driver installed. I didn't have a problem when I had a Canon Pixma on the network, but when I replaced it with the Epson nothing seems to work. I go to add a printer to the queue and only the FAX function of the printer shows up - not the WS-4530 print function. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?  Please??? :-)

    Hi Kelly,
As someone who has to print from my Mac to a networked printer at home all the time, I can certainly understand how frustrating it must be to have that fail to perform as expected. Let's see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    OS X Yosemite: Printing troubleshooting
Start with the section titled Check the network.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Sincerely,

  • When i try to print emails, it only prints first part of email. it is not a problem with my epson printer, could it be a firefox issue or is it an issue with my service provider att/yahoo?

my epson printer only prints the part of email that shows on my screen before scrolling down. i have checked with epson tech and it is not a printer problem. can you help?

Problems like that with Firefox printing look like they are fixed in Firefox 4.

  • Image printing problem with Photoshop and Lightroom specifically with 11X14 cuts off top of image and moves bottom border up. Windows 7 OS - Epson Printer is working properly.

Have an unprecedented problem with printing 11X14 photos in both PS and Lightroom. The printer is operataing properly. Printing 81/2X11 correctly. Have double and triple checked all the printing settings and they are correct. Have checked with friends to no avail. This problem started yesterday. Widows 7 OS. Need help.

You show the OS receiving an image from Photoshop, and the OS starting the Epson print driver and handing it part of the image, the driver connects to the printer, then the print driver fails. It looks like a bug in the Epson rasterizer, or the printer communication.
You really need to talk to Epson.  Photoshop isn't involved in that error.

  • Printing problem with EPSON printer.

    Hi,
When we take print on EPSON printer, some content on the right hand size of paper is not getting printed and that part of paper remain blank.
Setting for the same task have been done as,
1 ) we are printing document using perforated paper of size (35CM x 29CM) on EPSON LQ-1070+ printer.
2 ) We have added custom page-format for size 35CM X 29CM in custom device type ZSAPWIN (copy of SAPWIN) and using the same for printing.
Do we need to maintain any setting in windows ?
    Please guide.
    Thanks in advance,
    Amit Raut

    Hi Amit,
Have you checked by printing Word document on same printer??...
If the right part of the paper still left blank, then margin setting of the printer in windows has problem,
Otherwise check it in SPAD only.
Also check your Margin settings at printer.

  • Problem with Latest Epson Printer Driver Update

I installed the Epson printer driver update that came out today, but it made absolutely no difference. My Epson printer is still using a the same old Epson driver plus Gutenprint. There is no other option. I don't get it. What's the point of installing the update if the printer is still stuck with Gutenprint? My printer (Epson Stylus Photo R340) is supported according to Apple's list.

    alansky1 wrote:
Thanks for that tip, John. I found the "Epson SP R340 series" driver by searching for it as you suggested.
    Happy to help Alan.
HOWEVER, I cannot print with this driver. I get the following error message when I try to print:
    Error: Library/Printers/EPSON/InketPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/r astertoescpll failed
This seems common with the Epson drivers, there are several posts here with that problem. Some users have had success deleting the printer from Print & Fax Prefs and adding it again using the Epson (non-Gutenprint) driver. Others have had to delete the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON and /Library/Caches/Epson folders, re-download the update, then re-add the printer.
I would try the first one first since it's the easiest and you already have the update installed. If that doesn't work, the second should.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem pdf created by Epson Printer.

When I open a pdf created by my Epson printer (WF-7620) I am asked to install an Asian language pack. I do not want to install this pack. How do I stop it?
I have contacted Epson support who told me to contact Adobe as they could not see a way to stop it.

    Here are my findings:
The last two files do not have any "real" text in them, and therefore contain no fonts, which is fine as they're just images.
The first file contains selectable text, probably the result of an OCR process by the Epson software, and has 3 fonts used in it: Times-Roman (Type 1) and two forms of a font called Kozuka Mincho PR6N (TrueType), which is a Japanese font owned by Adobe (http://store2.adobe.com/type/browser/P/P_1812.html).
The usage of these fonts is what causes Reader to ask that you download the Asian language pack (they're probably included in it), so that it could display the text correctly. This doesn't look like an error to me. It's the font specified by the Epson software when it processed the file during the OCR process, and Reader is just respecting that choice, even though there's no real reason to use this specific font.
One possible solution would be to check the settings of your Epson software and see if you can specify the language of the OCR text, or better yet, the actual font used for it. If you can't customize it then you can't really solve this problem unless they change their application (or you install the font pack).
Here's a screenshot of the Fonts tab of the Document Properties for the first file from Acrobat Pro XI:

  • Printing problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16

Has anyone experienced any problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16 through Software Update? I am having problems printing. It denotes an error message, specifically the rastertoescpii.app isn't working?

Oops, wanted everyone to know that the driver that Software Update downloaded and installed was 2.18, not 2.16 (which was the last one that worked for me). I just got done downloading the 2.18 driver directly from the Apple support website and installing it. Guess what? My printer is now working and everything is fine. If you are having issues, I suggest this route. Guess I solved my own problem, but hope this helps someone else.
