Erratic Movement of Marker Pins in iPhoto 9.5 for Mac

Newest version of iPhoto with Apple Maps seems to have a real problem when trying to manually place marker pins with precision in small Places map (i.e. - fine-tune location).  New pop-up-and-place-down routine in software seems to be VERY vulnerable to erratic jumps, especially vertical, when trying to fine tune location manually.  Pin can end up miles from intended spot, even when starting from zoomed-in location!
Anyone else having this problem?  Anyone know a fix for it?

I have been having the same issue - but with iPhoto '09 (v8.1.2). I used to be able to use the mouse to swipe across the map to go after a certain place rather easily, but now after a small swipe the map area stays in place or moves very slightly. I have to hold the mouse down and move it very far on the screen to have a new area show without it snapping back. When zoomed in, the swipe barely works at all.
It is very aggravating especially since I want to place pins manually much of the time instead of typing in a city (since the locations aren't in a city).
The issue started happening for me about the same time, I believe.

  • Do iPhoto journals created on iOS now sync on iPhoto 9.5 for mac?

    hi all,
ive spent a lot of time on my iPad touching up travel photos and creating journals. I've just upgraded to Mavericks, and am thinking about getting the new iPhoto 9.5 for iMac.
Will the journals i have suddenly appear if i make this upgrade on my iMac, or is there a much longer, convoluted process to do this?
Also, will the quality of the images be the same?
    Thanks in advance!!

There is no way to view journals created on your iPhoto for iOS on your Mac's iPhoto.

  • How do you transfer Picasa for PC to IPhoto or Picasa for MAC and keep edits?

I have thousands of photos on my PC and would like to get them onto my IMac in an edited form. When I try to import to IPhoto, I get duplicates. I am unable to export from Picasa for PC and import into Picas for MAC, as it is grayed out.

What duplicates do you get if you import to iPhoto? What are you importing, where from?
I'm afraid for help with Picasa you're best to go to Google's forums. They folks who know that app best will be there.

  • Iphoto, dxo, lightroom for MAC

    Good day,
What is the best way to have photos (already in IPhoto), be thereafter processed by DXO and later by Lightroom and back to IPhoto as finished photos??.
I know that IPhoto allows one external processing but doesn't allow two.
    Best regards
    Ray.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    1. Lightroom is, like iPhoto, a Digital Asset Manager, not a photo editor. LR cannot process photos that have not been imported to its database, just like iPhoto. LR is firmly focussed on the Raw shooter, and frankly, I don't understand why someone would want to use iPhoto if they are also using LR (or, indeed, Apple's Aperture). Think of it this way: they both do essentially the same job, but LR does a whole lot more (and is rather more expensive too.)
If you do want to use iPhoto for books or somesuch, then I would process the photos in LR and afterwards export them to iPhoto using a plug in such as *_this*_
    2. I'm not familiar with DXO but it too seems to be a Raw processor, so again, I would process the pics with this prior to importing them to iPhoto.

  • Email photos from iPhoto '11 via Office for Mac

how do i email photos from iPhoto via Office for Mac.  Entourage mail client used to let me select photos directly from iPhoto - Office does not.

    Several possible ways
1 - search these forums - there have been hacks reported that are reported to allow you to use OutLook as the e-mail client for MS Outlook
2 - drag photos from the iPhoto window to the Outlook icon in the dock
3 - drag photos (or export them - file menu ==> export) to a desktop folder and attach from there
4 - from an Outlook email use the attach to attach photos - look in the lower left hand corner of the attach window under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto

  • In iPhoto '11, how do I manually move a locations pin?

I'm trying to add locations to some older photos that I've recently scanned and added to my iPhoto '11 library.
While I can successfully add a general location to each photo, what I cannot do is "select, drag, and drop your pin into the proper location" as described in step 5 of this link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2550
If I select a photo and attempt to move its location pin on the map at the botton of the Info panel, nothing happens. The pin moves, but it doesn't "stick" in its new location. If I leave the photo and then return, the location remains in the original general location.
    Any ideas?
    Josh

Update: Still can't get it working, I move a pin, and next time I go to that photo it's returned to the original place. Places function is basically worthless.
    Another glitch I noticed:
    - iphoto adds names from your address book to faces - great.
    - If the contact it's adding from your addressbook has changed their email address, the OLD email address shows up!!!!
    - e.g. I added "Tommy McTomson" to a photo months ago; I then changed Tommy's email address from yahoo.com email to say hotmail.com
    - Any future pictures of Tommy I add show his OLD yahoo email address under his name in "Faces". Whci isn't really a hassle cos I don't see how you can use the email address from that biut of the sscreen in iphoto, but come on dudes, it's really slack................
Also, you can't see an iphone when it's connected when in iphoto 11 full screen mode. But I'll check this & clarify later (not on mac at the moment).
Really not impressed with iPhoto '11, especially after reading all the negative stuff on forums across the net.

  • Photoshop elements 8 for Mac - how to move photos (events) from iphoto to pse

I have figured out how to move one  photo over through opening a file.  But I can't move a full event or album from iphoto.  Ive tried going to bridge but when i click on the iphoto folder, it takes me into my iphoto and I'm not sure what do then, no buttons or anything that seems to connect to PSE.  Any help would be appreciated!  I wish Adobe supported this product better for Mac users.  Maybe they read these discussions?

    Hi,
Are you opening iPhoto files from within Photoshop Elements? You can open all the files in an iPhoto event into PSE8 through a single click.
In Photoshop Elements, go to File menu > Open. In the browser window that appears, click Photos under Media in the sidebar. Now, you should be able to see iPhoto with all its events. When you click on an event and "Open" it, you should get all the photos of that event in the project bin.
Is this the problem being asked?
    Thanks.

  • How do I move the files from my existing iphoto library on one Mac to another?

I have bought a new iMac and want to move all the photos in iphoto to the new unit.  I did hte migration option but all that seesm to do was give me access to the other unit and I did not know where to go from that point.  Should I be looking to files or applications also when moving this information?
    Thanks!

The best way to move a library from Mac A to Mac B is to hook them together, Firewire Disk Mode, ethernet for a mini LAM, etc. and COPY the library package from A to the Pictures folder  on A.  When the transfer is completed launch iPhoto on B and it will find and open the library.
Under no circumstances do not try to import the library on A into a library on B.

  • How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process?

How can I move my iPhoto Library from one Mac to another without losing the comments on the individual photos in the process? The source Macbook (OS 10.4.11 and iPhoto 6.0.6 (3.2.2.)) is with my husband in Germany, the target MacBook Pro (OS 10.8.5, iPhoto 11) is with me in Japan. Thanks for your help.

I copied the iPhoto Library to a CD and from there to the new MacBook
If you copied the library to the CD via the Finder it would be no different than the methods Terence suggested.  If you used the Share ➙ Burn menu option from inside iDVD you'll get a mini library that has to be accessed from the open library and the events/alubums copied into the destination library.  Not the same as the other methods.
The Share ➙ Burn method is no longer supported with iPhoto 9 and later.

  • How do i move photos from imovie to iphoto

How do I move photos from imovie to iphoto?

You cannot put photos in a trailer. They are designed for videos.
However, there is a way around this.
Go to the Project Library view. Select your Trailer. Now, click FILE/CONVERT TO PROJECT.
    Now you can add photos.

I deleted a photos from iphoto, later I found them in imoive, how do I move the photos back to iphoto?

    Hi Canadian Beaver Tail!
You may want to try restoring the photo in iPhoto, using the instructions suggested in the following article:
iPhoto '11: Delete or restore a photo
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2398
    To restore a deleted photo:
If you haven’t yet emptied the iPhoto Trash, do the following:
Select Trash in the Source list.
Select the photo you want to restore.
Choose Photos > “Restore to Photo Library.”You can also drag the item out of the Trash into an empty part of the Source list.
If you use Time Machine to back up your computer, you can recover a photo, an Event, a folder, an album, a project (such as a book, card, or calendar), or a slideshow even if you deleted it from the library and emptied it from the Trash. To restore photos, quit iPhoto, open the folder containing your iPhoto library, and then open Time Machine. To open Time Machine, click its icon in the Dock, or click the Time Machine icon in the menu bar and choose Enter Time Machine. For more information on using Time Machine, see the topics in Help Center. In the Finder, choose Help > Help Center, and then search for “Time Machine.”
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,

  • Playback movie burned to DVD from iPhoto

When I burn a movie to a DVD from iPhoto I get an error message on playback that says "the movie contains an invalid data reference and will not playback". Any suggestions?

Also, the movies don't appear on the DVD when I play it in the DVD/Blue Ray in the other room.
You can't burn a DVD like that with iPhoto. You need an authoring application like iDVD or Toast to correctly format the disk.
