Hi Iam getting a error in writing the oracle database thru ODBC using VB, but I can able to read the data. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem and how to solve it.
Thanks, Nasir

    hi all
    i want the code sample for storing the image to oracle database
    development enviornment:
    server : oracle 9i , apache web server
    client : ie6 browser
    i am connecting to oracle database thru applet using oracle jdbc thin driver
    can anyone give me details about storing image to db
    1) what datatype should be used in table for image?
    2) my image files are on client machine... can i directly read those files from browser or first i have to copy those files to server?
    3) .gif files will do or what should be the fileformat?
    4) java code to store it to database (i am using jdk1.3)
    5) how to retrieve it back from database and display it in awt panel ?
    its very urgent ...
    i am doing some r&d and trying to do using blob....
    but it will take some time ...
    i will really be thankful if someone sends detail code....
    thankx in advance ....

    Hi,
    The code below might answer few of your questions.
    There is a restrcition on size of image, it must be less than 4KB.
    //Code to insert image in database
    //mytable is the table name that contains two fields in databse:name,image of type varchar and blob
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    Connection con =null ;
    Statement stmt =null ;
    con =DriverManager.getConnection  ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<hostname>:1521:orclsid", "system","manager");
    PreparedStatement preparedStatement = con.prepareStatement("insert into mytable (name,image) values (?,?)");
    preparedStatement.setString(1,"Amol");
    InputStream inputStream = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream("C:\\WINNT\\Temp\\netscape\\images\\menubg.jpg"));
    preparedStatement.setBinaryStream(2, inputStream, inputStream.available());
    preparedStatement.executeUpdate();
    preparedStatement.close();
    inputStream.close(); To retrieve image,here is the snippet
    ResultSet resultSet = stmt.executeQuery("select image from mytable'");
    if (resultSet.next())
    byte[] image1 = resultSet.getBytes("image");
    FileOutputStream fos=new FileOutputStream("c://splash11.jpg"); //will retrieve bytes and create a file
    //by the name specified
    fos.write(image1);

  • Access vba problem with ORACLE database via ODBC

    I get a problem when using MS-Access 2007 DAO recordset built on table hosted by an Oracle database 10g and connected thru an ODBC link (the id is generated by a sequence/trigger associated to the table).
    The code I use is :
    Private Sub Commande0_Click()
    Dim rs As DAO.Recordset2
    Dim bm As Variant
    'Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("select * from table1", dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges, dbPessimistic)
    Me.Recordset.AddNew
    Me.Recordset!libelle = CStr(Rnd)
    Me.Recordset!code = “”
    Me.Recordset!actif = True
    Me.Recordset!idCollege = 1
    Me.Recordset.Update
    Me.Recordset.MoveFirst
    Me.Recordset.Bookmark = Me.Recordset.LastModified
    Dim idtemp As Long
    idtemp = Me.Recordset.idPartenaire
    Me.Requery
    Me.Recordset.FindFirst "idPartenaire = " & idtemp
    Set rs = Nothing
    End Sub
    When I run this code, I get an error 3167 (current record is deleted) on the line :
    idtemp = Me.Recordset.idPartenaire
    If I change the ligne :
    Me.Recordset!code = “”
    By :
    Me.Recordset!code = “xxxx”
    Or if I comment this line, the error does not appear and I get the right value in idtemp variable.
    I tried also with the same table in a SQL Server database table. In this case it works fine in all cases.
    So, I seems that the problem is due to the Oracle ODBC driver.
    I search on Internet but I have not found any explanation or solution.
    Does anybody experiment the same problem (and find a solution)?
    Gilles Roussel.

  • Access to reach Oracle database with ODBC

    Hello oracle community,
    Oracle 11.1.0.7.0, Access 2007:
    We have an ODBC driver to connect to the oracle database over access. it is working fine, just when we open two instance of access on the same machine, two connections (over same ODBC) to different schema/users and starting a query, he is not able to find the tables of the second connection. it seems like he is using the wrong user. is there any solution or anything we are doing wrong ?
    Ikrischer

    I tried all three options: "use US setttings", "use Microsoft regional settings" and "use Oracle NLS settings", none worked (hope I dont need to reboot for that). When I am working with Toad and make an insert, I can perform an insert statement with '1,5' for a numeric column, everything is fine. When I am trying the same in the access programm (I can enter values there directly into the linked table) I get an error message ora-01722 for the value '1,5'. But if I try to insert 1.5 into access, he is converting it to 15.
    PS: just made another test, not inserting values, just reading records from the table. I opened the table in Excel over the same ODBC driver, everything is fine, the value '1,5' for one record. When I use the same ODBC driver in Access, the vlaue is 15, that is funny. is there a problem in access ?

    BobsNeeding to connect from a windows client does NOT automatically mean you need odbc. It depends on what app you are using.
    And please note that ODBC is NOT a substitution for the Oracle client software, it is in addition to it.

  • Creat too many instance when writing an oracle database

    Hi
    I want to write Oracle database with database toolkits;
    but..i found there are too many instance or called session(exceed the upper limit) created when the program running .  that makes the Orace server stop responding
    Is there anything  i need to modify?
    Attachments:

    Frankly I have never seen this problem, but then I make a point of never using the database connectivity toolkit. Assuming a Windows platform, Windows implements something called connection pooling so when you "close" a connection the OS inserts it into a pool so If you ask for another connection it doesn't actually open a new one it just gives you back a reference to one of the ones you "closed" before.
    What OS are you running on?
    What version of Oracle?
    Is the instance of Oracle local or on another computer?
    How are you communicating with Oracle (odbc, oledb, etc)?

  • 64 bit SAP to 32 bit External Oracle Database connectivity failing

    Dear All,
    We are trying to connect to an external Oracle database thru DBCON method. We are able to connect to Oracle server from our IDES server which is a 32 bit server, but when we are trying to connect our development server which is a 64 bit server, the connectivity is failing.
    we copied the correct 64 bit *.lib file to the SAP server but still same result. We are getting the error message - Work Process restarted. Session terminated.
    the Oracle server we are trying to connect is 32 bit, can this create some problem ?
    kindly any one help us in this reagrd.
    thanks in advance,
    Saurabh.

    Hi Eric,
    thanks for the advice but I am a bit confused as where to execute that sqlplus command/query ?
    in the Oracle server or from SAP and what does system/password@DEV means ??
    can you elaborate on this please.
    here i would like to add that we have connected to the external Oracle server using linked server approach of MS SQL (our SAP default database) and so our connectivity is happening till SQL level i.e. I am able to connect to the Oracle and query it using OpenQuery syntax. the problem is appearing when I am trying to connect from the ABAP level.
    kindly suggest as to what can be the solution of this issue.
    thanks
    Saurabh.

    In general, HTML DB gives you access to Oracle database facilities. These include heterogeneous services. Please search this forum for keyword "heterogeneous" and you can follow the threads that interest you.

  • Using Oracle ODBC Gateway connecting to a remote Oracle database

    Oracle 11gR2
    RHEL 6.4
    Has anyone use the Oracle ODBC Gateway to connect to another Oracle database?  Any issues with that configuration?  Where do I get the ODBC drivers for Linux?
    (I know, "why not use a dblink?" -- well that would be against company security policies)

    Hi,
       From the Oracle point of view we support using DG4ODBC for Oracle to Oracle connections. However, we have not actually tested it as DG4ODBC is primarily designed for access to non-Oracle databases.
    How DG4ODBC will work between Oracle databases depends on the ODBC driver and what that supports. You will need an ODBC Oracle driver which you can get from various suppliers including Oracle but also vendors such as DataDirect, Easysoft etc. You could try a Google search.
    You say you do not want to use database links but that is how DG4ODBC is used, You cannot do -
    sqlplus user/password@dg4odbc_oracle
    Once Dg4ODBC is setup and configured as in this note - if you are using Linux 64-bit -
    How to Configure DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX Itanium) to Connect to Non-Oracle Databases Post Install (Doc ID 561033.1)
    then in the Oracle database you create a database link and select from tables in the other Oracle database -
    select * from table@dg4odbc_db_link ;

  • How to configure distributed transaction in Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC? (ORA-02047)

    I am connecting from Oracle to another database server (MS SQL Server, DB2 the error message is the same) through an ODBC connection using Oracle SQL Developer. (This is how I set up)
    I want to query the schema of a non-Oracle database using the data dictionary mapping of the Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC.
    This works well:
    select * from all_tables@katimssql;
    But this doesn't:
    create table alltables_mssql as
    select * from all_tables@katimssql;
    Output:
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1

    ORA-06512: at "SYS.HS$_DDTF_SQLTABLES", line 58

    Does anyone know the solution of this?
    Thanks in advance,

    I tried these, none of them worked, the error message is the same.
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = off
    HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL = SINGLE_SITE
    HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL = READ_ONLY_AUTOCOMMIT
    HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL = READ_ONLY

    Hi Kata,
    this won't work as the ALL_TABLES is not a table that exists in your SQl Server  - instead it is a "mimicked" table. This means the gateway will check if you have on your SQL Server a table called all_tables and when there's no table it will start an internal mechanism to check out what sort of tables exist in your SQL Server database. So the gateway is starting internally another transaction to get details from the foreign database and DG4ODBC can't participate in distributed transactions at all. Instead of using all_tables you have to use a real SQL Server table like SQ Server sys.objects or sys.tables.

  • How to connect Oracle database  through Microsoft ODBC?

    My ODBC Configuration:
    DSN name is :db
    Username : india
    Server :db.world
    Now, i am trying to connect with oracle database through SQL*plus or TOAD.
    But, it is giving the following error.
    ORA-03121: no interface driver connected - function not performed
    Database version : 9.2.0.1.0
    Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP
    ODBC Version : 2.575.1117.00
    I am trying to connect with the database like this:
    Username : india

    Database : ODBC:db
    Can i connect like this otherwise whether i need install any other supporting driver?

    Now, i am trying to connect with oracle database

    function not performed
    I am trying to connect with the database like this:
    Username : india
    Password : india
    Database : ODBC:db
    As already stated, you can not use the DSN in SQL*Plus (nor TOAD, afaik)!
    I can reproduce the error message with the following:
    C:\>sqlplus a/b@ODBC:c
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.1.0.6.0 - Production on Mon Aug 4 21:34:58 2008

    ERROR:
    ORA-03121: no interface driver connected - function not performedLooking up the message, it says:
    Cause: A SQL*Net version 1 prefix was erroneously used in the connect string
    Looks like this has nothing to do with your DSN - it is more a matter of not using a proper connection string.
    If 'Test Connection' works then you should probably proceed to work with Crystal Reports, using the DSN in question.
    However, you should note that the old MS ODBC driver for Oracle was designed for OCI 7 (and for databases 7.x-8.x) and is now considered obsolete by both MS and Oracle.
    Deprecated MDAC components and MS KB Article 244661.
    Use the Oracle ODBC driver included with a supported Client version instead.

  • Unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver

    I am unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver vers.2.573.4202.00 on a Win98 computer.
    First, I create a "Net Service Name" in order for the ODBC Driver to find the Oracle server. I then created a System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator and assigned the "Net Server Name" as the server in the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup". But when I test this DSN with Oracle's provided "Oracle ODBC 32Bit Test vers.2.5.3.1.0" I get an error:
    SQLSTATE: NA000
    Native Error Code:0
    Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
    This error occurred on all three Win98 computers I have tried. It does however, seem to work fine on WinNT 4.0, and believe it or not, on the two Win95 computers I have tried.
    Does anyone have any fixes, recomendations, or advice?
    Thank you,
    Eric Edwards

    Why are yu not using the Oracle ODBC driver - these can be downloaded from OTN.
    Have you set up a tnsnames.ora entry for the Oracle database you want to connect to? Does this name have a domain name added to it? Check %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora for the service name. If it is a name of the form :
    name.domain.subdomain
    then you should try using this full name when configuring the ODBC data source.

  • Visual Studio 2010 64bit cann't connect Oracle database through 64bit ODBC Driver

    Hi,
    I am developing an 64bit And-In software. My OS is windows7 64bit Ultimate. Developer tool is
    Microsoft  Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate 64bit any-CUP.
    Server is SUN server and Oracle database 10.2.0.5 64bit enterprise edition.
    I have installed instantclient-odbc-win64-10.2.0.5 on my computer.
    I am able to connect through the command line sqlplus user/pass@server.
    In date source(c:\windows\system32\odbcad32.exe), ODBC Driver connection successful.
    But in VS2010 C#, use Tools -> Connect Database,I get an error 193 (Oracle in
    instantclient10_2,c:\ora10_64\SQORA32.dll) cann't be loaded.
    SQORA32.dll is 32bit ODBC Driver or 64bit ODBC Driver?
    How can I connect database with vs2010 64bit?
    Regards

    There is no Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate 64bit as far as I know.  It's a 32 bit app.    Generally you'd need to install a 32 bit client to use the 32 bit tools.
    Hope it helps,

  • CCX7.0 Database Integration with Oracle 10g through ODBC

    Good Day…
    We are up to integrate CCX7.0 with Oracle 10g, CCX7.0 documents show the way to integrate the CCX7.0 with SQL server, but mention nothing about Oracle 10g, anyway...
    I tried to check the ODBC options, there were many options, I tried to select any Oracle related choice, just to find out Oracle should supply the driver for it. In the forums, people say it’s an Oracle Client, but what will this client do? Am I going to connect though it to the oracle database server or is it going to query the database to my CCX server? What am I going to use in this case, user DSN or system DSN?
    If there any tips or recommendations I will be grateful, as it is my first database integration.
    Thanks
    AT

    Hi Aaron
    Thanks Aaron for the information, and yes you are right, I am not a database person.
    I have here some questions, sorry if some of them sounds silly
    1)       Is there a certain Oracle Client version? or and Oracle Client will work for me?
    2)       Do you recommend system DSN on user DSN?
    3)       “…. available to any device on the system” as you said in your reply, what do you mean by "device" and "system"? Sorry, but this will help to clear the picture to me
    4)       What will this Oracle Client exactly do? Is it going to build an SQL table on my CCX server that query the information from the Oracle Server?
    5)       My customer has already implemented database integration with IPCC3.5, how can I check the current configuration of the Oracle Client, and what things else should I check before proceeding with the integration?
    The reason I want to understand this because there is a lot of database integration is requested from us, the CCX scripts can be used to query data from SQL tables, I read a lot about this –waiting for the implementation phase- the lucky me, the first integration I faces is with Oracle.
    Anyway, who said learning is easy.
    Thanks Aaron for your time, waiting your answers.
