  • Running java command from DOS prompt

    Hi,
    When I run java from the DOS prompt (NT) in any other location than the JDK bin directory, I get the following error:
    Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment'
    My understanding is to be able to run this from anywhere you need to add the tools.jar file to the CLASSPATH, which I have done.
    There is no entry in the Registry for Software\JavaSoft...etc, has anyone any idea what my problem is and how I can solve it?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    I am running Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition Version 1.2.2 running on NT. It was installed as part of Oracles JDeveloper IDE and is running on NT.
    All I want to be able to do is run java from the command line e.g. 'java myclass', to run a standalone Java program. I can run 'javac myclass.java' to compile the program without any problems, but my understanding is that to do this all I need is to have the '.../java1.2/bin' directory included in the 'PATH' variable, whereas to run the java runtime you need to include the tools.jar in the CLASSPATH variable.
    As I said previously I can run the 'java myclass' command from the '../java1.2/bin' directory, just not from anywhere else. As for whats in the code, does not matter you should be able to type just java on the command line and it will come back with an error prompting for the class name. Here is an example of what happens:
    I:\>java
    Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment'
    However if I change to the correct directory, I get:
    D:\oracle\JDev32\java1.2\bin>java
    Usage: java [-options] class [args...]
    (to execute a class)
    or java -jar [-options] jarfile [args...]
    (to execute a jar file)
    where options include:
    -cp -classpath <directories and zip/jar files separated by ;>
    set search path for application classes and resources
    -D<name>=<value>
    set a system property
    -verbose[:class|gc|jni]
    enable verbose output
    -version print product version
    -? -help print this help message
    -X print help on non-standard options
    The contents of my PATH and CLASSPATH variable are shown below, Thanks again.

  • Update BIOS from DOS command line?

    Hello, I'd like to be able to flash the BIOS from the boot prompt or with a USB/CD/DVD based tool. I cannot open any OS even from live DVDs. My Presario SR5507F came originally with Vista installed but over the years it was upgraded to Windows 8.1. It gave us years of reliable service but sometime last fall the PC started experiencing seemingly random reboots and powerdowns. Things got pregressively worse until the PC was unusable. It would run for 15 or 20 minutes and then reboot. The problems started shortly after a Windows update, so I thought this was a patch or driver update issue. I tried reverting an removing patches to no avail. I also tried installing Ubuntu and Fedora, but they exhibit the same issues. Fedora is worse than Ubuntu, though. I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1, then 7 and finally the original Vista 32-bit OS but all Windows installations fail at some point during drivers installation. The computer just enters an endless reboot cyle and Windows cannot be installed. I ran memory tests but they all pass and I can use a text based OS, such as DOS. I have tried to reflash the BIOS, thinking it may have been corrupted during one of the reboots, but since I cannot install any version of Windows, the BIOS flash tools refuse to work. I need to be able to flash the BIOS from the DOS command prompt or at boot. Is there such a tool from Compaq/HP? Thanks!

    The BIOS file is found on THIS PAGE and is listed asMCP61PM-HM Motherboard BIOS Update 5.271.5 MBAug 2, 2012sp40911.exe Open the download after it is complete with 7-zip by right clicking on the sp40911.exe, then extract the Net5.24 to a known location.  AWDFlash downloadJust rename the file to 524.bin and use awdflash from DOS.Use  awdflash 524.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/R

  • Running forms from DOS command prompt

    how do u run forms (*.fmx) from the DOS command prompt?
    TY in advance

    hi,
    In Developer 10g, you can not run the form in client/server mode. Your case is a form of client/server mode operation.
    To run froms in Oracle 10g, your must run on the web, that is, you must have http server installed.
    If you have successfully installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g, it has automatically installed and configured a working http server.
    all you have to do is to modify some config files in <devsuitehome>/forms90/server directory folder namely:
    1. default.env where you add your path for your library files as in of your library files
    (*.pll)
    2. formsweb.cfg where set the workingDirectory parameter to point to the location
    of your forms (*.fmx) files.
    You have also to install Jinitiator by executing the file <devsuitehome>/jinit/jinit.exe.
    Start your OC4J instance
    then you can run the form from form builder.
    regards,
    Mike

  • Parsing commands from a command line, command-pattern?

    I'd like to create a command line where user type their commands and the application will invoke the appropriate action. There could be many commands with different arguments.
    example:
    FDA G 1033052
    XXLD TA 93843234 G 928322
    etc
    each command has different arguments and each command should perform a db task (it's long).
    Also, the commands can be undo (eg, if user clicks UNDO it will undo the last command)
    for this I realized I need to build the command pattern (hold a stack of all commands) but I'm still debating with some issues:
    1. What parser should I build in order to execute the command
    2. How should I encapsulate the commands in a way that will be easier to invoke, should I add all commands in the beginning to a map where the first argument will be the key and the value will be the class?
    Thank you

    for this I realized I need to build the command pattern (hold a stack of all commands) but I'm still debating with some issues:
    1. What parser should I build in order to execute the commandFor the posted examples the parser is trivial - break on space. Validation might be harder.
    2. How should I encapsulate the commands in a way that will be easier to invoke, should I add all commands in the beginning to a map where the first argument will be the key and the value will be the class? You are creating a language. How you interpret the language depends on the definition of the language and specifics of the implementation.
    You could certainly do it as you suggest but there are many other variations as well.

    Hi Suresh varma
    Did you get any answer for your problem?
    I'm having the exact same problem. Working with Weblogic 8.1 SP6 and getting this strange message whenever I'm calling my data service.
    I've followed the guidlines given on the URL posted here, and still getting the same message.
    Let me know if you have any idea.
    Cheers
    Rod

  • BEx Error: Automation error: Object invoked has disconnected from clients

    Hi,
    We have a user here that attempts to access a query in BEx (MS Excel), but receives this error message:
    - Runtime error '-2147417848 (80010108)':
      Automation error
      The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
    Any ideas.
    Thanks,
    John

    Please go through the OSS note 857360..
    https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=857360&_NLANG=E
    This talks about your error..
    Solution
    1) Replace the RFC library
    librfc32.dll
    on the client PC with a current version.
    620: Version >=  6206.6.1938.4727  (620x.x.x.4727).
    640: Version >=  6400.3.79.4740    (640x.x.x.4740).
    There is a version of the 620 and 640 librfc32.dll in the attachments: and we recommend that you use Version 640 (compatible with SAPGUI 620) (see below).
    620 Version: Download librfc32.rar. Rename it librfc32.exe. This file extracts itself automatically.
    640 Version: Download librfc32.zip. You can use WinZip to extract this file.
    Note:
    It seems that newer (delivered) versions of 6.20 librfc32.dll do not contain this fix. In this case, you can also use the 6.40 librfc32.dll. For reasons of compatibility, you should use the following Microsoft DLLs that are available on the PC for this: msvcr71.dll and to be msvcp71.dll (see Note 684106).

  • Running commands from the Command Prompt -  Runtime.getRuntime().exec()

    Hi there,
    I'm already able to run several commands in the command prompt.
    But my problem is that I need all the commands that I run share the same context.
    If, for example, I run "cmd /c set HOME=C:" (1st command), I want to be able to access that variable the next time, so that later when I run "dir %home%" it shows the directories in c: (This is just a example this is not what I really want to do...)
    I used code posted in a newsgroup (don't remember which)
    This is the code I use to execute commands:
         private int execute(String command)
         int exitVal = 0;
    try
    String nomeOS = System.getProperty("os.name" );
    String[] cmd = new String[3];
    if( nomeOS.equals( "Windows NT" ) || nomeOS.equals("Windows 2000") )
    cmd[0]="cmd.exe";
    cmd[1]="/c";
    cmd[2]=command;
    else if( nomeOS.equals( "Windows 95" ) )
    cmd[0]="command.com";
    cmd[1]="/c";
    cmd[2]=command;
    if (rt==null)
         rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
              Process proc = rt.exec(cmd);
              CommandStream erro = null;
              // erros?
              if (proc.getErrorStream()!=null)
                   erro = new CommandStream(proc.getErrorStream());
                   erro.start();
    // output?
    CommandStream output = new
    CommandStream(proc.getInputStream());
    // arranque
    output.start();
    // erros???
    exitVal = proc.waitFor();
         } catch (IOException e)
                   System.out.println("Exce !!!" );
                   e.printStackTrace();
         catch (InterruptedException ie)
                   System.out.println("Ocorreu uma excepo !!!" );
                   ie.printStackTrace();
    return exitVal;

    My problem is bigger than setting a few parameters,
    I'm doing a GUI to a CVS client and the problem is that some commands of CVS only work if you're in the right directory, or if you're authenticated, and all of this is easily done doing a series of execution:
    In a command prompt opened I would:
    set cvsroot=:pserver:lpinho@w2palf38:/project
    cvs -d :pserver:lpinho:xxxxx@w2palf38:/project login
    mkdir temp_my_proj
    cd temp_my_proj
    cvs checkout my_projectAll this would make what I wanted...
    And there's another thing, when I set the envp, I get some errors like "cvs.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command" (the path went bye bye) and if I set the path (envp[0]="path=c:\cvsnt"), I'm able to run cvs but I get a crazy error "No such host is known" (I run exactly the same command in the command prompt and it works...)
    Do you know any way of getting the current environment, and pass it as the envp parameter?
    Thank You
    Luis Pinho

  • Reading commands from the command line

    Ok I've read quite a bit about streams, and I get the gist that you are suppose to open up a "stream," whether it from a file or from something else, and then you have to do all sorts of stuff to it like activate it or something, or whatever. But all I want to do is take an input from the command line, for example my name, and have it output "Hi [name]." I could swear I've done this before with a simple command like
    System.in.read() or something like that, but I read up on it and read is not a method that does that? So how does one just do a simple command line input into a variable...for what I want to do is control movement on a maze. If somebody can direct me to some documentation I would be happy as well. Thank you

    btw - "deadseasquirrels" - like the name. Have another program;-
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.Random;
    public class Do_Writing {
       public static void main( String args[] ) throws IOException {
       BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader
                           (new InputStreamReader(System.in));
       Random rand = new Random();
       int i = 1+ rand.nextInt(10);
       String s1;
       System.out.println("Guess a number between 1 and 10");
          try {
             while ((s1 = in.readLine() ) != null) {
                // if( ... I'll leave the rest to you to figure out
                // when they get it right don't forget to include;-
                System.exit(0);
                in.close();
       catch (IOException ignore) { }
    }

    Also, a common problem seems to be prereq packages not installed, however, that is not the case here.

  • VPNClient from DOS without prompting

    Hello,
    I am using the Cisco 3.5 client to connect to a 3015 Conc.
    From DOS I could run:
    VPNClient Connect VpnProfile
    And I get connect. But right before I get conencted I get a message:
    "XYZ MainFrame access. For Authorized users only. Do you wish to Continue? y/n"
    And I have to press Y to complete the VPN process.
    I would like to run the VPN client through a batch file over night and every night to FTP a file to the mainframe. Is there a way to automate the "YES/Y" answer in the batch file or through a swtich key in the VPNClient command?
    Thanks,
    Mike
