Error at end of installation wls5.1sp11

Question

Hi,
at the end of the installation of wls 5.1sp11, I receive an Dr.Watson error:WLSPASS~1.exe
has generated errors.....". I use an P4 with win2000 sp2. Any help would be appreciated.

You'll probably also need to edit weblogic.policy as the install
procedure bombed out before replacing @WEBLOGIC_HOME and
@WEBLOGIC_HOME_UNIVERSAL with appropriate values. Assuming you've
done a default install in the default location you should have
grant codeBase "file:/c:/weblogic/-" {
permission java.io.FilePermission "c:${/}weblogic${/}-",
"read,write,delete,execute";
Also, you'll (probably) need to run various wlconfig commands to set
up the path for the start-menu commands to work properly. The
instructions for this are part of the standard service pack
instructions.
You can check your command-line and start-menu versions are consistent
by (for instance) starting weblogic server from the start menu, then
at a dos-prompt:
C:\> cd \weblogic
C:\weblogic> setEnv
C:\weblogic> cd classes\weblogic
C:\weblogic\classes\weblogic> java weblogic.Admin t3://localhost:7001/
VERSION
this should produce a line like:
WebLogic Build: 5.1.0 Service Pack 11 11/20/2001 08:39:10 #149952
If you get a sizeable error hinting at incompatible class versions
then you've probably got your wlconfig commands wrong, or perhaps
forgotten to change c:\weblogic\setEnv.cmd to pick up the SDK you
really want to use. Make sure you get your weblogic510sp11boot.jar
and weblogic510sp11.jar in the right variables and/or defines.
Remember to set the password in weblogic.properties (it's
weblogic.password.system, not weblogic.system.password: you'll see the
entry already in their with something like @SYSTEMPASSWORD next to
it.)

I think your installation was nearly complete. The part that gave you the Dr. Watson error
was the last bit that let you enter a password.
Try the following: bring your weblogic.properties file into an editor and search for
weblogic.system.password. If it's blank just type in a password (ie
weblogic.system.password=<my password>). That should be enought to start the server.
