I am using JDeveoper10.1.2 with JHeadStart
I am developing the OrderEntry application using ADF with Struts. Whenever i make the "Gender" field as Radio Group Button i get the following error message
Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.apache.struts.taglib.html.BaseHandlerTag
Please help what could be the cause.I have another way to solve this problem!
When these errors happened, u double clicked on the error line in Embedded OC4J Server log window. The error will lead to the blue marked line, may be:
<%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld" prefix="html"%> (1)
or
<%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean"%> (2)
If line (1) marked, change the prefix="html" to prefix="html1"
If line (2) marked, find the lines like <bean:message key="link.something_here"/>
and change to <bean:message key="link.something_here1"/> and the correspond line of this key in the ApplicationResources.properties file of the project
I successfully using this way but only if one error happend at a time or two errors from two kinds of error
This way is not as good as the previous way mentioned in previous post. -

Hi,
I am using tomcat 4.1.x and jdk1.4. After updating the tomcat to 5.5.17 my application gives the following error:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /jsp/index.jsp(150,20) Failed to load or instantiate TagExtraInfo class: org.apache.struts.taglib.html.MessagesTei
Is it because jdk1.4 is not compatible with tomcat 5.5.17? can i fix this problem by just pasting some jar files in my WEF-INF/lib directory?
If yes, could you let me know what those jar files are.
Can anyone please suggest me if there is some other approach?Just remove jsp-api.jar from your classpath.

please help meThe struts-template tld has been deprecated in favour of the tiles taglib.
If you are using anything above struts 1.0, then you should be using tiles.
Most probably the support files for the struts-template taglib are not in your distribution.

I'm implementing a query page as described in the HowTo ADF_ComplexMasterDetail.zip
When running the query page, I'm receiving the error:
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: No getter method for property searchText of bean org.apache.struts.taglib.html.BEAN
I have my searchEmployees writen and 'exposed' (at least I can see it in the Data palette). But seems like something is missing, and can't find this searchText beam property specified in the html:text tag.
Can someone help in this one?
Here is the Help description inside the HowTo example:
Section 3
queryEmployees
queryEmployeesInDept provides an interface for entering a simple search criteria for querying a list of
employees. This does not use the Find mode Query By Example functionality that the other query screens
use, but rather presents a much simpler search interface. The actual search is carried out using a
function
searchEmployees that the underlying view object exposes. (See the EmployeesView view object in the
model project)
1. Drop a new Data Page onto the page flow diagram call it queryEmployees
2. In the page flow diagram, drag the searchEmployees operation from the AllEmployeesView
collection in the Data Control Palette and drop it on top of the new Data Page. This will cause the
framework to run a search whenever the page is called.
3. In the Structure pane, locate the queryEmployees node and expand it, select the child node
paramNames[0], and change it's value attribute to ${param.searchText}. This will pass the URL
parameter searchText on to the business method to qualify the query.
4. Drill down into the page and expand the Data Control Palette to select the AllEmployeesView
collection. Set the Drag and Drop as: list to Read-OnlyTable. Then drag the collection onto the page.
This will create a tabular containing the query results.
5. Select the Struts HTML component palette and drag a Form onto the page above the output table. Set
the handling action to this Data Page (queryEmployees.do)
6. Drag a text field from the component palette inside of this new form. Set the property attribute of
the
<html:text> tag to searchText (the same value you used in the paramNames[0] for the Data Page)
7. Create a new submit button in the form to submit the search. Set the property attribute of the button
to
event_search.
8. Finally we need to subclass the data page to prevent the search action from being fired when it is not
appropriate for the page ( for instance when we first display it). To do this we need to Go to Code on
the Data Page's context menu, and override the invokeCustomMethod() method:
* We only want to invoke the custom method i.e. the call to change
* the Where clause on the collection, if the Action has been called with
* a search event on the page with a search term supplied.
* If the user got here via a link or another event, we bypass the model call
* unless a URL parameter event=search is supplied, in which
* case the method will also be called.
protected void invokeCustomMethod(DataActionContext actionContext)
List events = actionContext.getEvents();
// If the event is "search" do the custom event call
if ((events != null) && (events.contains("search")))
String searchTerm = (String)((DynaActionForm)actionContext.getActionForm())
Get("searchText");
if (searchTerm != null)
super.invokeCustomMethod(actionContext);

I am new to java... I am trying to develop a web application using
1.Struts1.2
2.tomcat 5.5
3.eclipse 3.2.2Big mistake. Nobody new to Java should jump straight into webapps, let alone using a framework like Struts. Debatably, even Eclipse should be left alone.
It's precisely because of this that you're having problems. Presumably you're following a tutorial or something, but - as demonstrated - as soon as it goes wrong, you're stuck. Learn some core Java first, trust me -
The import org.apache.struts.action.ActionError cannot be resolved
Hai anyone,. I' a newbie to struts and want to learn more. I download the example code, and run it. Hey, it work. But when I try to create it by myself by following the tutorial, I got stuck with my all java file when i want to try to compile it with eclipse.It say:
The import org.apache.struts.action.ActionError cannot be resolved
What' wrong?
this is one of the example code, i bolded the error line:
package dummies.struts.music;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
import org.apache.struts.action.Action;
import org.apache.struts.action.ActionError;
import org.apache.struts.action.ActionErrors;
import org.apache.struts.action.ActionForm;
import org.apache.struts.action.ActionForward;
import org.apache.struts.action.ActionMapping;
import org.apache.struts.validator.DynaValidatorForm;

Boolean bCancel = (Boolean)request.getAttribute("org.apache.struts.action.CANCEL");
if(bCancel != null)
if(bCancel.booleanValue())
return (mapping.findForward("join"));
// create a new LoginBean passing the datasource
LoginBean lb = new LoginBean(getDataSource(request, "musiccollection"));
// check to see if this user/password combination are valid
// will return a non-null UserDTO if valid
UserDTO user = lb.validateUser((String)((DynaValidatorForm)form).get("email"),
(String)((DynaValidatorForm)form).get("password"));
if(user != null)
// save UserDTO in session
request.getSession().setAttribute("user",user);
return (mapping.findForward("success"));
else // username/password not validated
// create ActionError and save in the request
ActionErrors errors = new ActionErrors();
ActionError error = new ActionError("error.login.invalid");
errors.add("login",error);

First time when I got this error, I added struts.jar in my server's <inst_dir>/alone/additional_libs/...... but then also error still exists... Do I have to start SAP J2EE instance once again and then deploy my application?
Can anyone help me out in this as this is very very very imp.
regardsHi,
As per your actions above I believe you have already found SAP Note 435363.
Basically for a struts application there are no special requirements other than
1. Make a reference to the inqmyxmltoolkit from the application that is going to use struts before the deployment
2. Put the struts library into WEB-INF/lib of the application (struts can't be shared among applications)
3. Deploy the application
For making the reference you can:
1. Telnet to the Engine (if you run it as a service and do not have access to its shell directly)
If telnet port on the Engine dispatcher is 2323
telnet localhost 2323
2. Jump to the server node
for example if the application node's cluster id is 4001
jump 4001
3. Execute the commands
add deploy
changeref -m MyApplication library:inqmyxml
So if it does not work, then I see two reasons possible:
1. You are using a really old version of the 6.20 Engine - check if you are on PL41.
2. You have misspelled the name of your application in the reference. The names are case sensitive so you need to be careful. MyApplication is not the same as myApplication or myapplication.

I downloaded Lucene from its homepage, I have tried Lucene 2.3.0 and Lucene 2.2.0, but same errors occurs which is cannot find symbol method Text.
I checked class Field under Lucene, it doesn't have Text function. Well there you go. You can't call methods that don't exist.
What should I do to add two Fields "path" & "contents" into Document?It seems very likely that the object that represents an indexed document, has some way to express the concepts of "path" and "contents". You should probably just read the docs some more.
But other than that I have no idea. Ask on a Lucene forum. -

Xmlreader schema validation error: Cannot find the declaration of element
I have multiple schemas with namespaces but I would like to validate an xml document without namespaces. The schemas all have elementFormDefault="unqualified" in the root element.
I am encountering error below in my validation using xmlreader:
ERROR:
Cannot find the declaration of element 'NewTradenetDeclaration'.
my code is:
xmlReader = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader("org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser");
xmlReader.setFeature(VALIDATION_FEATURE_ID, true);
xmlReader.setFeature(SCHEMA_VALIDATION_FEATURE_ID, true);
xmlReader.setFeature(SCHEMA_FULL_CHECKING_FEATURE_ID, true);
xmlReader.setFeature(SCHEMA_NAMESPACE_FEATURE_ID, true);
xmlReader.setProperty(JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE, XMLConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI);
String schemaURI = "NewTradenetDeclaration.xsd";
// ive tried all of the ff but throws the same error
//xmlReader.setProperty(EXTERNAL_SCHEMA_LOCATION, "urn:crimsonlogic:tn:schema:xsd:NewTradenetDeclaration NewTradenetDeclaration.xsd");
//xmlReader.setProperty(EXTERNAL_SCHEMA_LOCATION, schemaURI);
xmlReader.setProperty(JAXP_SCHEMA_SOURCE, schemaURI);
// set entity resolver to resolve xsd locations
MyResolver resolver = new MyResolver();
xmlReader.setEntityResolver(resolver);the entity resolver has:
public InputSource resolveEntity (String publicId, String systemId) {
String filename = "c:/workspace/TXParser/schema/"+ systemId.substring(systemId.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
File f = new File(filename);
InputSource source = null;
try {
source = new InputSource(new FileReader(f));
} catch(Exception e) {
System.out.println("InputSource exception: " + e.getMessage());
return source;
}Help please. Thanks.I fight with the same error, it is curious that the schema from schemaLocation can not be validated. If i set the schema manually through an attribute it works. What i try to do is overwriting the resolveEntity in the handler to get the schema from another location and validate the xml against the schema specified in the attribute schemaLocation rather than setting it manually :-(
