host name/Ip of SQL Server = 172.16.1.58
SQL Server database name = CKS_VSSD
i had create the new initntchsql.ora file under tg4msql\admin folder, and i also had create the new listener.
here is the file contains

Issue while importing table from oracle to sql server using import and export wizard
Hi All,
I am trying to populate oracle table to sql server using import export wizard and i am getting the below error.the table is allready present in the database but still it throwing error like table doesn't exists.
Could not connect source component.
Error 0xc0202009: Source - JOB_ACTION_HISTORY [1]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
Error 0xc02020e8: Source - JOB_ACTION_HISTORY [1]: Opening a rowset for ""FLXUSER"."JOB_ACTION_HISTORY"" failed. Check that the object exists in the database.
(SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Kindly help me out
Thanks in advanceHi Snehasis,
Please check whether the table name in the Oracle database has lower case letters. The table name should be exactly correct.
In addition, the issue might be related to the Oracle driver. What provider/driver do you use? If you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle, you can try the
Oracle OLE DB Provider. If you use Enterprise or Developer edition of SSIS 2008 or higher, you can also try the
Microsoft Connectors for Oracle by Attunity. The Oracle OLE DB Provider and Microsoft Connectors for Oracle are proved to have better performance.

How to connect to MS SQL server using JSP?
Hi, i am new to JSP so i would like to know what is the code to create a connection to MS SQL server.
I am using jakarta-tomcat 4 as my server.
sorry for any inconvenient....
pls help me....This works to start off with but there are more sophisticated/ different ways of doing things,for instance it's best not to access the db via your jsp, rather do this logic in JavaBeans, Servlets or use Struts.Therefore, it's best that you consult with others and find out which is best way to go about creating your web apps.
Here's some code:
In my jsp's I access the bean below , instantiate a statement object and go on from there:
*SOME of the code in the JSP's.
//create bean instance
<jsp:useBean id='dbConn' class='projectsevenhouses.DatabaseConnectionBean ' scope='session' />
//instantiate statement
Statement st = dbConn.getConnection().createStatement();
* JavaBean
package projectsevenhouses;
public class DatabaseConnectionBean implements Serializable {
private Connection conn;
private Statement st;
private String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:datasource";
private static String driver = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
/** Creates a new instance of DatabaseConnectionBean */
public DatabaseConnectionBean() {
makeConnection();
public void setDatabaseName(String dbName) {
dbURL = dbName;
private void makeConnection() {
try {
Class.forName(driver);
conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL,"sa","");
} catch (SQLException e) {
System.out.println("SQL Cause ->" + e.toString());
} catch (ClassNotFoundException cnf) {
System.out.println("Class Not Found:" + cnf);
public Connection getConnection() {
if (conn == null) {
makeConnection();
return conn;
public void setCloseConnection(boolean close) {
if (close) {
try {
conn.close();
} catch (Exception e) {
conn = null;
Hope it gives u an idea...

Connecting to MS SQL Server using ODI Agents
I'll start with an apology, since I'm sure it's something very obvious that I've missed. Other posts have similar, but I think slightly different issues - but they have helped me get this far.
We have ODI set up with two Agents (L and S running on Windows) which successfully connect to Oracle databases.
I'm trying to connect to our first MS SQL Server database, and while a test through "Local (No Agent)" is successful, the connection is not successful when I try through one of the agents.
This is true both when I test through Topology Manager on my laptop and when I use the ODI Topology Manager on the server running the agents themselves.
In attempting to fix the problem, I have updated/checked as follows:
Downloaded updated MS SQL Server drivers (I'm connecting to a MS SQL Server 2005 database). The new MS driver is version 3.0 and I've copied file sqljdbc4.jar to the ODI home drivers directory on both my laptop and on the server which runs the agents.
Checked that we have a newer JRE installed - we have JRE 6 update 7 installed (1.6.0.17_b04) on the server which runs the agents.
Updated the ODI_JAVA_HOME environmental variable so that it points to the jre6 directory on the server which runs the agents.
Stopped and restarted the Agent services.
Closed and reopened Topology Manager.
Configured the SQL Server data server to use the following JDBC driver:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Configured the JDBC url as follows (changing the hostname):
jdbc:sqlserver://<hostname>:1433;selectMethod=cursor;integratedSecurity=false
Tested using 'Local (No Agent)' successfully.
Tested through an agent and received the following error:
java.lang.Exception:

I'm sure it's something obvious that I've missed, but I've now spent close to two days researching, testing and drinking too much coffee. Any help would be very gratefully received!
Thanks.After more investigation and even more chocolate, we've identified the problem and it's now working. For anyone else who strikes this problem in future, here's something to check/consider/try:
Even though Squirrel SQL Client was connecting and working ok using the MS JDBC driver (v 3.0), it recorded this in its logs:
Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" and "Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the INTERSECT operation.
We've found that the open source jTDS driver does not have the same issue as the Microsoft one.
We've installed the current jTDS driver, recorded the driver name (net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver) and the JDBC URL (jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<hostname>:1433/<database>) and the connection is now working fine.
Hope this helps other people...
Thanks to those of you who offered suggestions and things to check...much appreciated.

Access Oracle from SQL Server using Oracle Provider for OLE DB
Using
- SQL Server 2000 SP4
- Oracle 10g
- Oracle10g Provider for OLE DB Version 10.1.0.4.0
- Oracle 10g client
Able to create linked server in SQL server to Oracle 10g and display list of tables in Oracle. However, when execute query, it gives
Server: Msg 7320, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Could not execute query against OLE DB provider 'OraOLEDB.Oracle'.
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' ICommandText::Execute returned 0x80040155].
Any idea what is the problem ?I'm having the same error message...But I'm connecting to a Oracle 8i DB......
I think this has to do with SP4 for SQL....I will test this tonight.... -
Error Connecting to remote sql server database
The sql server database is hosted on Godaddy hosting service.
I am able to connect with many other remote computers so the issue resides on the remote computer.
The remote computer is windows 7 32 bit 2009 service pack 1
using the ODBC administrator we add a user DSN select SQL Server Version 6.01.7601.17514
For the server we put in the server from godaddy somthing like XYZDatabase.db.1110002.hostedresource.com
Once enter the login id and password we get the following error.
Any help would much appreciated.
Remember, we have multiple other remote computers connecting with no issues.Hello,
If connection works for several machines, but fails on others then may because the access is blocked by firewall. You have to unblock IP port 1433 for in- and outbound.

Need help with Thin JDBC connecting Oracle to SQL server.
I am fairly new to JAVA. We have ORACLE 8.1.7 running on Solaris 8. I have a need to
periodically extract data from ORACLE DB and transfer it to SQL Server. I am limited to
moving data from the ORACLE/UNIX environment to SQL Server side.
From what I have read, Server-side Thin driver should work.
1) Are there any issues in trying to achieve this with ORACLE running on the UNIX platform?
2) Will the Server-side Thin driver talk to both the DBs ?
3) Is it possible to provide some sample code ?
Thanks in advance,
SolomonQuattro,
I had complete success in reading from Oracle and writing to SQL Server. First of all let me thank you for all your help. I do have one last request. Its more on optimization than any thing else.
I was trying to optimize my code by grouping both the connections in one place and to keep my reads and inserts together so that I don't commit at the end of each insert etc. I don't seem to have the scope rules under control yet. Could you suggest how to improve this:
import java.sql.*;
public class Test_Combined2 {
public static void main(String args[]) throws SQLException {
// Load the Oracle JDBC driver
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
// Connect to the database
// You must put a database name after the @ sign in the connection URL.
// You can use either the fully specified SQL*net syntax or a short cut
// syntax as <host>:<port>:<sid>. The example uses the short cut syntax.
Connection con2 = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@Test:1521:PSDEVElOP",
"SOLOMON","SOL1");
// Create a Statement
Statement stmt2 = con2.createStatement ();
String url = "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://INTRADEV:1433;DatabaseName=Measure";
Connection con;
String query = "select dataYear, dataMonth, yieldRate from tblYield " ;
Statement stmt;
try {
Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
} catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e) {
System.err.print("ClassNotFoundException: ");
System.err.print(e.getMessage());
// Select the ENAME column from the EMP table
ResultSet rset = stmt2.executeQuery ("select year_start, monthofyear, percent_comp " +
" from ps_usm_ytd_yield ");
// Iterate through the result and print the employee names
while (rset.next ()) {
System.out.println (rset.getFloat (3));
int ps_dataYear = rset.getInt(1);
int ps_dataMonth = rset.getInt(2);
float ps_yieldRate = rset.getFloat(3);
try{
con = DriverManager.getConnection (url, "tmpuser","tmppush");
stmt = con.createStatement();
PreparedStatement insertTblYield;
String insertString = "insert into tblYield " +
" values(?, ?, ?)";
//con.setAutoCommit(false);
insertTblYield = con.prepareStatement(insertString);
insertTblYield.setInt(1, ps_dataYear);
insertTblYield.setInt(2, ps_dataMonth);
insertTblYield.setFloat(3, ps_yieldRate);
insertTblYield.executeUpdate();
con.commit();
//con.setAutoCommit(false);
/*ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
System.out.println("dataYear, dataMonth, yieldRate");
while (rs.next()) {
int dataYear = rs.getInt(1);
int dataMonth = rs.getInt(2);
float yieldRate = rs.getFloat(3);
System.out.println(" " + dataYear + ", " + dataMonth + ", " + yieldRate);
stmt.close();
con.close();
} catch(SQLException ex) {

Thanks in advanceWell there is something wrong with your database URL you are giving to the driver. You should lookup the documentation for the driver and see what format the URL should be in.
Here is an open source driver you could try too -- http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ -
Error in setting datasource location from oracle to sql server
Post Author: jonathanaramburo
CA Forum: Data Integration
Hello,
I have an application that uses a table named "events" which conflicts the sys.events view in master database in sql server. The error i was encountering is that, whenever i tried to set the datasource location of my crystal report from its previous connection oracle to sql server, i get an error saying that some of the fields has not been updated because theres no matching fields to the current connection. It seems that crystal is pointing on sys.events view on master db and not on the events table in myDb database. How can I tell crystal reports to not pick up sys.events and get only myDB.events table.
Thank you in advance,
Thanks,
JonathanThe exact statement in oracle side which causing this error (O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.) is below:
dStartDate:= to_date(sStartDate,'MON-YYYY');
Statement causing error O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported is below.
nCount2:= length(regexp_replace(sDataRow,'[^,]'));
So there is no statement which is using to_date(VARCHAR2,
CHAR) and regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR) in as such. 'MON-YYYY' and '[^,]'
are CHAR values hence SSMA is unable to convert it from varchar2 to char.
Regarding SYSDATE issue, you mean to put below code in target(SQL) side in SSMA ?
dDate date := sysdate;
Thanks. -

Salih KmHi ,
Thanks for your reply.
Contents of my initMYSQLSERVERDSN.ora file is
# This is a sample agent init file that contains the HS parameters that are
# needed for an ODBC Agent.
# HS init parameters
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MYSQLSERVERDSN
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 0
HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = hsmsql.trc
# Environment variables required for the non-Oracle system
#set <envvar>=<value>
set ODBCINI=c:\WINDOWS\ODBC.INI
SALIHKM.DOMAIN.COM is my system in which Oracle Test DB is Installed.
SQL Server is in another location.
In Tnsnames i specified ip address.
One more doubt.
I am using 10g Release 2 demo version.
whether it will support Hetrogeneous Services?
How to know whether a database supports HS or not?
Thanks & Regards

Error while converting schema from oracle to SQL server
Hello,
I am getting following error while converting schema from oracle to SQL server using SSMA.
I get Errors 1-3 while migrating procedures and error 4 while migrating a table.
1- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'SYSDATE' is not supported.
2- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.
3- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.
4- O2SS0486: <Primary key name> constraint is disabled in Oracle and cannot be converted because SQL Server does not support disabling of primary or unique constraint.
Please suggest.
Thanks.The exact statement in oracle side which causing this error (O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.) is below:
dStartDate:= to_date(sStartDate,'MON-YYYY');
Statement causing error O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported is below.
nCount2:= length(regexp_replace(sDataRow,'[^,]'));
So there is no statement which is using to_date(VARCHAR2,
CHAR) and regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR) in as such. 'MON-YYYY' and '[^,]'
are CHAR values hence SSMA is unable to convert it from varchar2 to char.
Regarding SYSDATE issue, you mean to put below code in target(SQL) side in SSMA ?
dDate date := sysdate;

Connection with SQL Server using DBCO
Hi,
I want to connect to Misrosoft SQL Server using DBCO transaction. I have given the following fields.
DB Connection = test
DBMS = MSS
User Name = user02
password = test
Conn. info = MSSQL_SERVER=tcp:10.100.50.36 MSSQL_DBNAME=New_Wisdom
permanent selected
Connection Limit = 5
Optimum Conns = 2
while executing through the statement as follows,
EXEC SQL.
CONNECT :'TEST'
ENDEXEC.
I am getting the dump ' An SQL error occurred when executing Native SQL.
The error 900 occurred in the current database connection "DEFAULT".' Please suggest me what needs to be added or corrected.Hi Benito.
I'm not very familiar with MSS but maybe the following will help a little bit.
Depending on the version of your SAP system you can use the transaction DBACOCKPIT to add connections to non-SAP databases. There is an test connection button in that transaction, too. You will find some information about that transaction in some whitepapers here in the SDN. For example have a look at this one: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/1062428c-f1df-2910-b08f-c322feddcd10
ADBC error 16 is just "something went wrong". Is your SAP system using MSS, too? If not you will need the matching DBSL for it on your SAP system.
If you have set up an connection you can use program ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION to check if everything is ok. If I remember it correctly in case of errors it allows you to jump into the trace file. There you should find some usefull information.
Perhaps asking in the Database&OS forum area (there is a MSS forum) might help, too.
Best regards,

Local Network Connection Problem with SQL Server 2008 R2
Hi,
I have CRM application which uses SQL server 2008. Weird thing is that I have no problems connecting from client machines to the server when using a particular router (via LAN) and when I upgrade the firmware of the same router (A common open source firmware
which is used by many also works perfect apart from mentioned problem) and restart the server, the connection cannot be established. I get Error 40.
When i downgrade the firmware and restart the server, the connection works again.
Please note that I am absolutely not touching any configuration of the server. Also the CRM software allows remote connections from public IPs which this feature works fine with both downgraded and upgraded firmwares.
As for my understanding, the routers do not block ports in LAN connections. So how can I diagnose the reason for this connection problem?Hi Leony83,
Please also help to check Windows Event Log information regarding this issue, so that we can do further investigation. In additin, here is the general steps to troubleshoot SQL Server Error 40 issue. Please see:
