ERROR creating new workspace: directory file is invalid

I f I try to create a workspace in a subfolder (directory)
where the path is too large then I get an error:
The directory file "C:\Documents and Settings\aus046\My Documents\programs\java\oracle_jdev_workspaces\my_new_ws"
the path may conatain illegal charecters, may be too long or may not be accessable.
I make the path shorter like "C:\Documents and Settings\aus046\My Documents\programs\java\ws_footytips"
then it is fine but this messes up my desired folder structure.
Any chance of fixing this bug?

Yes, we've narrowed it down to a problem when using >80 character directory names.
It's bug 2776374 (viewable on Oracle Support's metalink site) and will be fixed in the next major release.
Thanks!

    John, Thanks for the response.
The user has all provisions in SS for Essbase and Applications (Server Access as well as Application Administrator). I can explore all the Essbase applications in EAS.
I have double checked all the provisions and refershed security in EAS. I am still getting the same error.
Here are a few more interesting things that I have noticed from debugging. The only account with the ability to create "New Locations" or Associate a Business Rule with an Essbase Application is "admin". If I deprovision "admin" in SS, I can no longer create New Locations. If I add the provisions back for "admin" then I can create New Locations. So, that tells me that BR is looking at SS for provisioning of "admin".
Here is another interesting message in hbrserver.log.

    Any additional thoughts?

  • ORA-24344 when creating new workspace

I am using HTMLDB 2.0 and successfully created several workspaces several months ago. I am now trying to create a new workspace and I get "ORA-24344: success with compilation error. Error provisioning <workspace>." I receive the same error whether I am reusing an existing schema or not. I have made sure there are no invalid views or procedures in the flows_020000 schema and have run ...\rdbms\admin\utlrp.sql just in case. When an existing schema is not reused, the new user does not appear to have been created. My database is 10.2.0.1 and I am running on a Windows Server 2003 system. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

Just to recap, when you re-use an existing schema, you get the error but the workspace gets created, you can login to the workspace, everything works? But when you specify a new schema you get the error but the workspace is/is not created (?) and the schema is definitely not created?

  • Unable To Create New Open Directory Master

I have a brand new installation of MacOS X Mountain Lion Server, latest version, in a brand new Mac Mini. This Mac Mini is being co-located in a data centre, and I am setting it up via remote access (screen sharing). The data centre has setup DNS zone records for my domain, including a reverse DNS PTR record, and everything in the DNS is working fine.
During the installation of Server, when the installer asked for the type of 'Host Name', I selected 'Host name for Internet'. The installer was able to use the IP address of the Mac Mini to automatically find the correct host name, and configure it. Once the installation was complete, no services were turned on - not even DNS, as the installer probably figured out that DNS services were being handled externally.
The first thing I went to try and do was to turn on Open Directory. I turn the service on, and a sheet comes down, where I select to "Create a new Open Directory Domain". I click 'next', and on the next sheet I enter the OD Administrator's details, and password. Click 'next' again, and then I get the following message:
"This computer's host name is invalid.
The host name does not resolve to any configured address of this computer. Please ensure the host name is correct."
Opening Terminal app, and typing "hostname", I get the correct hostname, as showing in Server app itself.
Entering "sudo changeip -checkhostname" in Terminal app, I get all correct details for the IP address and host name of the machine, and the message: "The names match. There is nothing to change. dirserv:success = 'success'"
I finally tried getting Server app to change the host name itself - going into the Server pane, select the 'Network' tab, and in the 'Names' section, next to the host name, click on the "Edit..." button. Again, went through the wizard, and the wizard again was able to find the hostname automatically from the machine's IP address. Once the 'changing' process was completed, I went to try and initialise Open Directory, and again, got the same message.
Can anyone shed any light? Any suggestion would be welcome at this stage...

MrHoffman, thank you for your guidance. You have, however, given me a bit of a headache.
    MrHoffman wrote:
127.0.0.1 is likely going to be incorrect here.  Please reference the DC DNS servers, and not a local server.  If you're in a DC and particularly with a public-facing host without an outboard firewall to block DNS traffic, you likely do not want to be running your own local DNS services.
As described previously, the server was referencing the DC DNS servers. The server was not running its own DNS service. Open Directory was not able to detect that the ip address and the hostname were correct with this setup - even though the command line on the server as well as externally showed that all DNS records were setup correctly, and that the IP address and hostname matched. The server's own installation wizard and 'Change Host Name' wizard automatically detected the hostname from the machine's ip address - by consulting the reverse DNS PTR record in the DC DNS servers.
Starting the server's own DNS server - and adding '127.0.0.1' to the top of the DNS list in Preferences - allowed me to create the Open Directory master, finally. Of course, the internal DNS server was setup so that only the server itself could access it - it was closed to any other machines - and even then, I had it running only momentarily: once Open Directory created its master domain, I switched DNS service off, and removed '127.0.0.1' from the DNS list in Prefences.
With that setup, everything seemed to work fine. All users were able to login, access their share points and their mail.
    MrHoffman wrote:
For the host name, the host name would usually be the FQDN fully-qualified domain name, and "example.com" isn't usually a host name.  You'd usually find somehostname.example.com here
That is the only machine in the domain. All public sub-domains - like 'mail', 'www' or 'calendar' - point to the same machine. The reverse DNS PTR record points to the higher-level domain "example.com".
Your warning, however, made me worried:
    MrHoffman wrote:
I'd probably rebuild the OD configuration, as I'd wonder of OD now had a bogus host name.  Once bad DNS gets involved, the entanglements can be quite pernicious..
So I decided to heed your advice, and rebuild OD. I deleted the Open Directory master, and tried rebuilding it with DNS service turned off. As before, OD insists that "the host name does not resolve to any configured address of this computer", and refuses to create the new Master. I ended up following the procedure above again - switching DNS service on temporarily to get OD to work.
The problem is, that now no user can connect to the server anymore. Everyone keeps getting a message stating that their password is wrong - including users on their iPhones and iPads.
I suspect that when I created the new OD Master, it created a new certificate, and that is what is causing problems. While I could try to get the desktop users to delete the old certificates from their keychain, this is not really an option for iPhone/iPad users.
Where do I go from here? After almost 24 hours straight dealing with this, I'm at the end of my rope...

  • During Import, LR creates new, duplicate directory with lowercase name. How do I make it stop?

Let's say my folder structure is:
    >Personal Photos
    >>2014
    >>>140406 NYC Visit
    >>>140507 San Francisco Vacation
    etc.
I then go to Import new photos from camera. I specify that the photos should go in the folder '2014,' click Into Subfolder, and enter a name for the new folder in the box -- let's say 140525 Yankees Game. This used to work just fine, but lately what's been happening is that LR creates a separate directory in lowercase below the existing directories:
    >personal photos
    >>2014
    >>>140525 Yankees Game
If I look in Finder, the new folder is exactly where it should be. The only problem is the way that the new folder is shown in LR. If I try to move the new folder into the 2014 directory, I get a message saying that it's already there.
I wind up creating a dummy folder in the desired directory, moving the files from the bogus folder into the new folder, then deleting the bogus folder. It's a pain in the neck.
Can anyone help me with this?

Please don't crosspost. It cuts down on the effectiveness of responses, leads to people wasting their time answering what others have already answered, makes for difficult discussion, and is generally just annoying and bad form.

  • How do i create new workspace in OWB?

Hello, I am very new to Oracle warehouse builder. We have mapping already developed and it is in testing environment. The source schema is OLTP and target schema is star schema. Now i do not want to mess up the current star schema. So, i created another star schema as same as the current one. Now
i want to create different work space and point to my new schema. At the same time, other folks wanted to use the current star schema. Basically,i need to copy the mapping and keep in different location and point to new schema. But the source schema will be the same.
    My OWB version is 11.1.0.7.0
    Any help is highly appreciated.

Navneet, Your steps works wonderful. I am able create new repositary and export the maping and import into new repositary. I am able to define the new target
    schema as you said.
The below instruction works very well when i define the target schema. I have owb(10.1.0.1.31) in my laptop and tested this. Then i have real mapping in
linux machine. I logged in linux machine and able to export and import into new repositary. Then i tried to change the target schema as below.
When i define the target user, it does not say that this is target schema. The OWB version is 11.1.0.7.0. I am able to successfuly registered the user. But not sure, this is target schema. But in 10.1.0.1.31, it clearly says, this is target schema.
To point to new target schema (say scott schema)
    1. Connect with new_rep_OWNER.
    2.Global Explorer or navigator ->security->Users
3.right click Users tab the New user.
Follow the process to add the new user as target schema .
(select the check box which ask for target location)
    4. Now point you Module to this target location.
Also when i validate the mapping, i get the below error in both 10.1.0.1.31 and 11.1.0.7.0.
VLD-1134: Invalid location for operator EMP.
Configured location for operator does not exist or is not a valid location under the referenced module.

  • Error creating new domain (probably because of incomplete install)

    Hi!
I've installed BPEL PM without problems on a server where AS already runs. I only had some problems with Step 2: Run the Integration Repository Creation Assistant on the Database. Since I couldn't run the bat files, I manually created shchema and a orabpel user.
Postinstallation Verification Tasks for Oracle BPEL Process Manager in BPEL Process Manager Installation Guide went through OK, so I thought everything is OK.
Then I tried creating new BPEL domain (trying to follow GoogleFlow tutorial but can't deploy because I don't have any domains) and got this error:
    Exception
    Operation failed because:
    Error updating domain index.
An exception occurred while writing the domain index (id"GoogleDomain", ref "1") to the datastore; the exception reported is: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist.
    Please check that:
+ the machine hosting the datasource is physically connected to the network.
+ the connection pool properties as defined in the application server startup properties are valid.
+ the database schema for the OraBPEL server has been installed in the datasource.
So I found a similar thread (Strange message when logged in to bpel console where one user had similar problems and solved them by manually running the domain_oracle.ddl script. I did the same, but still can't create a new domain.
One more thing bothers me: if I try to create new domain with the same name I get:
    Exception
    Operation failed because:
    Domain already exists.
A domain with identifier "GoogleFlowDomain" already exists at "C:\OracleAS\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\bpel\domains\GoogleFlowDomain". Please specify another domain identifier.
But deployed domains list is empty.
I'd really like to solve this. Maybe a new BPEL PM install would help but I can't execute step 2 of preinstallation tasks. If I execute the line from irca file
    java -classpath %CLASSPATH% -DORACLE_HOME=%ORACLE_HOME% oracle.tip.install.tasks.IRCA %*
    I get
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Files\Java\jre1/5/0_06\lib\ext\QTJava/zip
Any kind of further instructions would be much appreciated.
    Regards!
    BB

    Hi!
It was the Step 2 (preinstallation steps): Run the Integration Repository Creation Assistant on the Database step that was causing all of my problems. I figured out why I couldn't run irca.bat file.
The problem was in java home that was in C:/Program Files/Java... Looks like java or oracle (I don't know which) still have problems with spaces in directories names. When I installed Java to C:/Java/..., I could run IRCA and after reinstallation of BPEL PM everything is working as it should.
Maybe this will help someone else.
    Bye

  • No option to create new workspace in JDeveloper; turning BPEL Designer "on"

I'm trying to do some BPEL work on Linux, using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4.
    A couple of issues:
    1) although the BPEL Designer shows up as a component in the "About", and BPEL Process Modeler shows up as a loaded extension in the same place, BPEL Process Project is a grayed-out option in New Projects. This may simply be due to the fact that BPEL Designer apparently needs to be turned "on", and I've yet to figure out how to do that on Linux (since the documentation is mostly for Windows).
So if this problem is solved by turning the JDeveloper BPEL Designer "on", I sure wouldn't mind knowing how to do it on Linux. It's easy enough to start the BPEL Process Manager - I have that running right now - but I see no shell script anywhere in the SOA Suite installation that remotely looks like it might start BPEL Designer.
    2) Many of the tutorials say that one should create a workspace in JDeveloper. According to them this is available as an option under File > New. Well, in Linux JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4 it's not available at all. It doesn't even exist as a disabled option. I find this curious, and somewhat disturbing.
Any ideas as to why something so central doesn't show up?
    Regards,
    Arved

OK, good to know, John. Eventually a person figures it out one way or the other. I realize all of this stuff exists in documentation someplace, but there's only so many hours in the day. And if you're using JDeveloper 10.1.3, with JDeveloper 11 already available, you don't necessarily expect a lot of the articles you run across to be so old that they still refer to workspaces. I'm not saying that these are necessarily Oracle articles.
As an aside I've found Oracle documentation to be pretty good. I use Oracle software on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. For ESB and BPEL on Linux the main problem with the docs is that they are incomplete. It's disconcerting to see continual references to having to turn BPEL Designer on, in Windows, and have no instructions concerning that for Linux, as one example. As it happens, doing a "startall" for opmnctl does everything I need, so if there's a separate BPEL Designer started up by that (as opposed to the BPEL Process Manager) I guess that's where it gets fired up. That may also be covered in documentation someplace, for Linux, but I haven't found it.

It looks like it is failing on the attempt to load the sample objects into the new workspace. Go to Manage Service / Feature Configuration and toggle Create demonstration objects... to OFF.
Try creating the workspace after that and see if it works. I don't know why the sample app install might fail but this should get you moving.

  • Error Creating New User Accounts when Setting Terminal Services Attribute

We have just started receiving this error when new users are being created in our domain as part of the new hire process. Does anywhere have any pointers on where to look and what to look for?
    ErrorError
com.waveset.util.WavesetException: WTSQueryUserConfig() failed - Attribute: 'Terminal Services Home Directory Drive' Error: The specified user does not exist.
Is this something that would indicate that AD isn't replicating across multiple domain servers yet, and thus when it tries to set this attibute this command isn't finding the account? If that is the case is there a way to have a retry put in?

May I ask what version of IDM you're running?
There's a known bug that relates to this functionality. A quick review shows it's a pretty close match (not 100%) to what you described.
Bug 20728: Setting AD 'Terminal Services Local Home Directory' to null in IdM results in WTSSetUserConfig error
It's fixed in 8.1.0.3(or later), 8.0.0.10(or later), or 7.1.1.14(or later).

I successfully installed APEX 4.2 inside an Oracle 11g database. On the same server, I have setup a WebLogic 12c server which runs an Admin Server (default) as well as a manually added Managed Server. Inside the Managed Server, I successfully deployed APEX Listener 1.1.4. I was also able to configure the APEX database coupling via http://host:port/apex/listenerConfigure.
Now when I log in to the APEX Administration Console (workspace "INTERNAL") via http://host:port/apex/apex_admin and attempt to create a new workspace "myworkspace", I always end up getting the following error message:
    Error provisioning myworkspace.
ORA-20001: Error during the Packaged Application installation.
Has anyone ever encountered the same problem? Can this be due to some access restriction (I'm thinking missing write-permissions in the DB)?
    Some background info:
It is possible that something's clashing here with an old DB object: The DB was fully exported from an old machine with a 10g installation and fully imported into Oracle 11g DB on the new machine. The old 10g DB had APEX 3.2 manually installed. That machine was then used to create an APEX workspace and build an application in it.
Is it possible that when I migrated the complete DB, I unwillingly took some DB objects created by the old APEX-version (on the old machine) with me that now clash when I try to use the new APEX version?
    Any hint is highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot, regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
as a possible workaround, set "Create demonstration objects in new workspaces" = No in Manage Instance -> Feature Configuration -> Application Development. This will prevent the installation of the Sample Application when a new workspace is created.
After you have done that and created a new workspace, can you login into that workspace and install the Sample Database Application and let us know which error you are getting?
Your problem might be related to the following thread Re: wwv_flow_lists_of_values$ where template applications had been installed on instance level ("Manage Instance -> Manage Shared Components -> Template Applications")
    Regards
    Patrick

  • Creating new versions and file size?

Hello. My understanding is creating new versions in Aperture consumes very little file space (i.e., for adjustments, etc). I'm finding I like to have the "create new version" property enabled so I can have multiple choices in a stack per image in my projects.
Can someone please confirm this? I don't want to waste a bunch of space if I don't have to.
    Thanks!

all that is done when creating a new version is a "sidecar" file that gives aperture instructions on what and how to convert ...
so, it consumes very little space ... go ahead and version away ... this is really a key feature to aperture ... with iphoto, every new version was an actual new file as well ...
