Error declarations for error reporting to the Client
Hi,
I am trying to standardize the error reporting from PL/SQL for our project.
I created a package to define these errors and want to declare them as constants.
Unfortunately i'm running into some restrictions.
Option1:
Declare the ErrCd as a constant (-20000 To -20999) and then use an associative array with the ErrCd as index and the text as the value.
Option 2:
Declare a Record type with the ErrCd and ErrText as fields. Associate the errormessage with a position eg errIdx := 1; This will then be the position in the nested table. The procedures will then reference the correct errorRec through the ErrIdx.
The problem is that i want to do all this in the package spec. I don't want to work through a function to first build up the table and then return the correct error record etc.
I cannot build the associative array in the declaration since it doesn't have a constructor.
Nested tables seemed like the one to use since i could build up its content through its constructor. But i cannot construct the errRecord in a similar way.
SUBTYPE ErrIdxType IS INTEGER;
SUBTYPE ErrCdType IS INTEGER;
SUBTYPE ErrTxtType IS VARCHAR2(300);
ERR_CD_BASE CONSTANT ErrCdType := -19999;
ERR_CD_MAX CONSTANT ErrCdType := -20999;
TYPE ERR_REC IS RECORD
errCd ErrCdType,
errTxt ErrTxtType
-- Error 1 tester
ERR_ERR1_IDX CONSTANT ErrIdxType := 1;
ERR_ERR1_CD CONSTANT ErrCdType := ERR_CD_BASE - ERR_ERR1_IDX;
ERR_ERR1_TXT CONSTANT ErrTxtType := 'Error ERR1 occured.';
-- Error 2 tester
ERR_ERR2_IDX CONSTANT ErrIdxType := 2;
ERR_ERR2_CD CONSTANT ErrCdType := ERR_CD_BASE - ERR_ERR2_IDX;
ERR_ERR2_TXT CONSTANT ErrTxtType := 'Error ERR2 occured.';
TYPE ErrTableType IS TABLE OF ERR_REC;
errTable ErrTableType :=
ErrTableType
ERR_REC(ERR_ERR1_CD, ERR_ERR1_TXT),
ERR_REC(ERR_ERR2_CD, ERR_ERR2_TXT)
);I suppose the java still has a strong grip on me here.
What is the correct way to manage these error definitions?
Since i am trying to establish the error/exception handling strategy for the project i would also greatly appreciate a couple of pointers to examples/packages/docs on the error /exception reporting mechanisms available.
Thanks
Buks
That looks like data to me. Now if only PL/SQL had some kind of a database that came with it so you put that data in a table ;)
Error messages change and so are not good candidates for constants. What you could find useful to declare in a package is some exceptions. You will find more about them in the PL/SQL Guide.
You should also check this series of Oracle Magazine articles written by Steven Feuerstein (Whom God Preserve).
Cheers, APC

I am installing SQL Server 2012 Developer (from ISO image written on DVD), my machine has Windows 7 (Edit: Windows 7 with service pack 1) on it. This machine already has SQL Express and SQL 2008 R2 Express installed in it.
On running 2012 setup it goes fine from Setup Support Rules to Installation Progress. In Installation Progress after some progress installation fails.

The other option is to install CR 2008 designer on that computer - temporarily as a test only. Run the report in the designer and see if it works. Sometimes the designer will give you different error or better clues as to what is going on. E.g.; this could even be a database issue. An eval of CR 2008 is available from [here|http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx]

Error in creating New Entry from the Client in NW Mobile 7.1
Hi All,
I have created a mobile application for Laptops in NW Mobile 7.1.
I have a requirement to create an entry from the client, i.e., I need to create a PR in the client. The model bindind, the backend adapters, bapi wrappers are in place.
I have used the standard create BAPI for PR and wrapped it in a BAPI wrapper. I just have to give the PR details and save the entry in the client. The BAPI wrapper has the logic for generating the new PR number.
My problem here is, when I try to create a new PR, give the details and save, the entry is not getting updated in the backend and the sync state is '201'.
I checked the "Message Monitoring" in the NW Mobile Administrator for the particular SWCV.
For this create PR transaction, the particulars are as below
Message State: Error - Stop Flow
Message Type: Transaction
Error: "Error occurred while fetching synckeys from table ZDOE01700000SL"
"ZDOE01700000SL" is the Sync key look up table for PR(my data object).
Please let me know where I have gone wrong and guide me in rectifying this problem.
Thanks and Regards,
SunilHi Sunil,
From my understanding, looks like you are not filling synckey when you are creating a PR in your client. Synckey is a unique key on the DOE using which you can uniquely identify any node.
There are two scenario's atleast as I know, where this error would have come.
Case 1. If you are modifying something on client, which has been send by DOE, then you are not supposed to change synckey because it is a primary key. Now if we assume that you are not modifying synckey but when you are sending an update, check if by any chance the synckey is not going to DOE which is one case, and the second one is, after DOE has end that record to client, someone has cleaned up all the tables on DOE for that dataobject or someone has deleted that entry on the backend because of which the entry has been deleted on DOE. In either case, you are modifying something on client which is actually not present on DOE because of which when the DOE tries to look up based on synckey it doesn't find the needed record.
Case 2. If you are creating something on client, then you are supposed to create a synckey which is a 32 bit character GUID. I think in your case, you are missing the synckey when you are sending it to DOE. Check if there is any API for doing that or you have manually create a GUID and send it.
Hope it works out.
Best Regards,
Siva.

OBIEE : Getting Error while running a report from the Answers tab
Hi,
I have recently installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2 and Oracle XE databse in a Windows XP (Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3) virtual machine on my Windows 7 machine.
Created and loaded the Default rpd file. I have used "Oracle in XE" as driver in the DSN and in the Connection Pool the Call Interface is ODBC 3.5.
In the Presentation Services I have logged on as Administrator, selected a Subject Area, then selected a single column from the list of columns and ran Display results. I am getting the following error :
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).

Can anyone help me with this problem.
Thanks

How can i put a custom error massege for error CS039
I enable an error massage in production order release if batch determination is not done for the component material. Iu2019m getting the error as Release rejected (check log). Error number is CS039. I want to put a custom error massage for this. Can someone suggest me the configuration for this.
Hi,
Implement the user-exit PPCO0021 - Release Control for Automatic Batch Determination
In this you can control the release of order & also issue custom messages. Work with your technical person to implement the same.

Idoc error handling for error status 51
hi all,
I am trying to set up inbound idoc error handling. For that I have activated task TS00008068.
This task gets triggered for all error statuses except error status 51.
Could you please help me understand why it doesn't trigger the task for error status 51?
KR,
VithalStandard task 8068 is triggered for IDOC syntax, partner profile issues etc. The error message 51 is probably coming in from an inbound function module.
Firstly there isn't a single standard task that will be triggered for all errors. Each IDOC error, depending on the events triggered, will fire a predefined standard task. For example, you're trying to process an order inbound and the IDOC is successfully created and passed on to application. Then the inbound FM will attempt to create an order and probably fail at determining a sales order or a ship to etc due to a missing setup. Then a different event is triggered which is attached to standard task 8046. That is different from 8068.
Here is small subset of error 'vs' tasks:
Message Workflow Task
SHPCON TS20000051
INVOIC TS00008057
ORDERS TS00008046
SDPICK TS00008031
WMMBXY TS00008009
So you have to choose the IDOC which you want to activate WF task. Then look at the event that is associated with it. Then make sure the event is linked to the message type and routing is active. -
Configuration steps for phd's on the client
Can someone please refresh my memoty as to the steps required on the client side for portable home direcories? I have sever users with powerbooks who use phd's, and I need to add another. I just cant remember what all needs to be configured on each client.
ThanksIf you already have PHD setup on your server, all you have to do is add the client to your users list, create the home folder on the server through WGM and then on the client, Directory Access to add the LDAP.
Hope that helps.

Error Launching Web Analysis Report from the Hyperion Workspace
Hi Everyone
When launching the report as a HTML from the Workspace, the output flashes briefly on screen
The view in the content pane disappears to leave a blank screen.
When I Select View | Refresh. The following result is returned "Web Analysis Information" -1
I have set the report in start up preferences. And Web Analysis preferences set to open as HTML
After logging on again the following error is shown " An attempt to open "Actual vs Budget" Failed
Show Details displays: this.getFocusRoot() is nullor not an object
The reports all display correctly when launched from the Web Analysis studio
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Thanks for the advise but I have looked into your possible solution and referred to the Web Analysis user guide. I have a number of reports and when selecting the Design for HTML option - a number of objects are valid and should be displayed in the workspace.
After creating reports from scratch - with valid objects - the problem still persists.
Unfortunately, I don't think this provides a solution to the problem.
