Error: Dereferencing of the NULL reference

Dear Friends,
one of our user is running a report on web bex and he is getting following error.
com.sap.ip.bi.base.application.exceptions.AbortMessageRuntimeException:
Termination message sent ABEND RS_EXCEPTION (000): Dereferencing of the NULL reference
MSGV1: Dereferencing of the NULL reference
But when we run this with our user we are not getting any error.
if we run this report using RSRT usin user's user id it is not giving any error.
only genrating error when we try to run using Web Bex .
Any help hightly Appicated.

i already check the given sap note but that note is for support pack till17 and we have already 19 support level.
thats why this is not the solution.
second i check it publishing. its working fine with all the users except 3 of our users. i dont know why the error is
comming with them only.
and i also check the url no specific variable values.
any other idea.

Workflow issue- Dereferencing of the NULL reference

I have an issue with sending mails to external e-mail ids through a workflow process. I am using the FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 for sending mails. However, because of the latest Basis version I need to call this FM in a seperate task when the process is in BACKGROUND mode.
The current scenario is, my workflow will trigger a method, which internally call this FM in a seperate TASK. When I run the workflow/process I get an error in the method, which triggers this FM. The erro says "Dereferencing of the NULL reference"
Is this because of calling the FM in a seperate task, as the workflow already has a pre-defined TASK? if yes, how do we go about this?

I am facing a similar message when i am running the SAP standard workflow 18900044 for leave encashment. I am calling a class CL_HRPBSIN_HANDLE_LEREQ_WF and the method CALL_WORKFLOW.

I have created an a form view with a value node "ZINVOICE" , i have written few lines of code to set the collection,
create object lr_col
    type
      cl_crm_bol_bo_col.
   create data lr_tabline.
   ls_favs-PROCESS = 'mahe'.
   ls_favs-SERTYPE = 'SRVR'.
   create object lr_valuenode
      exporting
        iv_data_ref = lr_tabline.
lr_valuenode->set_properties( ls_favs ).
lr_col->add( lr_valuenode ).
set collection
me->zinvoice->set_collection( lr_col ).
After this the node "ZINVOICE" has the collection ref and entity list shows the entity as well,
But still wen i try to test the view it gives errors saying

I am not including this view in any component as an AB, when i include in any other standard component it does work fine. The problem is when i try to run it as a stand alone component. I am trying to set the collection of the contect node. I tried the same for a model node with bol entity "BuilHeader". I set the collection using "CL_CRM_bol_query_services", and it worked fine.

While saving a survey first time, I am getting an error message "Dereferencing the NULL reference".

Are you using internal CATT Server? If yes then you might need to turn on the CATT server again, see below:

We just upgraded our CRM Dev system from 4.0 to 5.0. We've already done this once on our Sandbox. However, in our Dev environment, I execute CRM_IC. Select my profile and then get an exception.

This is the line of code that the exception occurs. I debugged through, but not sure what the problem is.    It seems like it should have something to do with the runtime profile, but I can't seem to find anything wrong. This problem doesn't happen in the sandbox, but we are on a slightly higher support pack in our Development environment.

Thank for your reply. I already recompiled CRM_IC. I'm trying to execute the standard Webclient and still getting the error. I also reactivated CRM_IC_DT_REP and CRM_IC_RT_REP, but no luck.   I went to SICF and made sure all the services starting with CRM_IC were activated too. Any other suggestions?

I have created an wda application which uses the table popin to display data.
So that i have created a view with two of the fields as link to action UI element.
In the Events/Actions of the link to action element i implemented the following logic.
data wd_table_cell_editor type ref to cl_Wd_view_element.
data wd_table_column type ref to cl_wd_table_column.
data wd_popin type ref to cl_wd_table_popin.
data id type string.
 wd_table_cell_editor ?= wd_this->m_view->get_element( id ).
wd_table_column ?= wd_table_cell_editor->get__parent( ).
wd_popin = wd_table_column->get_popin( ).
context_element->set_attribute( name = 'SELECTED_POPIN' value =
wd_popin->id ).
So when i click on the link to action in the table column of the field am getting the following error
Access via NULL reference object not possible.
While debugging i have noticed that this error was coming at the below step of the code.
wd_table_cell_editor ?= wd_this->m_view->get_element( id )
in the m_view->get_element( id ) does not contan any value , its showing as table , as null value cannnot be assigned may be its throwing the above error.
But i didnt understand why the view is not getting UI element id ....
Can one please suggest me where might be the wrong....

(At the above step which is in bold , eventhough there is value in lr_table_col->get_popin , its not assigning a value to the wd_popin, throwing same error NULL etc.,)

2. Before changing the code suggested by u, the follwoing was the code from standard example.Its working fine in the application wdr_test_table.I have debugged the code.The value is getting assigned into wd_table_cell_editor.
The same thing i have done but its failing to assign the value. thats y its throwing null reference error. Here i have a confusion how its assigning a value and y not in the z application.am giving the code below which is in standard and my application.Please clarify these.

Null reference method call behaving oddly

Hi all, and a very happy new year!!
My question concerns the null reference; simply, why does the following code chooses to call any other method than the Object version (try it out). No matter what type i choose to replace the current String version with... I have not paid much thought to this, but i would have guessed the null reference calls the Object version in such a situation.
If i leave only the Object method and comment out all others, the code compiles fine and calls the Object version at runtime - but in case there are sub class versions, those will be called. WHY?
(im running jre 1.4.1).

The question is "why is the most specific method called?" The reason is that there are only a few possibilities for this rule:

3. The most specific method is called. It is only with this rule that overloading works. That's why Java uses this rule.

Web-UI error message "Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible"

I need some help, I'm not a Basis person but I need to get this connection problem resolve.
This problem is in our DEV ICWeb system. After logging in to Web-UI, I got a error message "Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible". We have 3 clients (100, 220, & 310) in DEV and all 3 clients are giving me the same error message.

but in the document it asked to go to SM59 to check the ESH_APPL_WS_TEMPLATEENGINE destination. But we don't have that destination setup in all our systems.

I can confidently tell that an enhancement or an user exit has been applied in your scenario
You have to check that
Normally when creating a sales order with respect or referring billing documents the qty will be in editable mode and it is standard problem
Your people has solved the standard problem by enhancement
Usually OR--LF-PGI----F2 (SAY THE QTY IS 25 UNITS)
Now you are creating returns order with reference to F2 in the return order type Re there is a standard issue that user can edit the qty to 30 from the original 25
To solve this only your people have used userexit
Line items and qty greyed out means definately there is some enhancement or user exit applied
You have to check that

I have the following issue:
Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign NULL to host variable 1. setNull() can only be used if the corresponding column is nullable. The statement is "INSERT INTO "VIRSA_... (see log for details)
Note 1362138 - Rule generation - null pointer exception virsa_cc_rtmap doesn't me. After uploading files of ZCC_DOWNLOAD_SAPOBJ and ZCC_DOWNLOAD_DESC I got the same problem during job running...
How can I find out where is the problem?

That looks like your fields are disabled but they could still be causing the problem edited ( nah - talking rubbish as you've put dummy " " in there) edited - the 'null' error caused many background jobs to fail but, once we had the evidence to show the space (somebody had pressed enter instead of delete/backspace to clear the entry) it stopped the problem - just a bit of learning on the job which we all go through for the GRC chaps in KL.
A " " would be valid but a (I know you can't see it but it's there wouldn't be )

The word doc option does sound good!

The "Null Error Stack" that is shown in the Run time workbench

The Data is set to flow from SAP R/3 system to target system through XI. When the data is triggered in the SAP system, the same data is getting updated in the target system database. But when i check in the Run time workbench for the same, in the active log the following error is shown
"Received XI System Error. ErrorCode: RUNTIME_EXCEPTION ErrorText: null ErrorStack: Runtime exception occurred during mapping" and "
The message was successfully transmitted to endpoint com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Application:RUNTIME_EXCEPTION: using connection RFC".
When i monitor the same using T-code sxmb_moni, i am getting the error "Thrown: java.lang.NullPointerException".
Can someone please explain what is this Null Pointer Exception and how can this be solved?

This can be the mapping error.
Take the source payload from SXMB_MONI, copy it and paste in the 'Test' tab of Message mapping in IR.
Check if you are getting any error or it is successful there.

Error Opening Reports (Cannot find Dimension Scenario, Error executing query: the member null doesn't exist in this application)

Hello,
two of our users get the following error message, when opening two specific reports:
First Report: Cannot find Dimension Scenario.
Second Report: Error executing query: the member null doesn't exist in this application.
Other users can access these reports, and the same users where the problem occurs can access other reports in the same folder.
I set the same rights for me, but i can access the reports without problems.
Somebody encountered the same problem before?

Hi there,
I had the same issue a few weeks ago... not sure how it happened but it was related only with my username.
In order to fix it:
1. I created a report which does not require to select the scenario in advance. Try to use the default data-grid that you get when you first create a report for example.
2. When the user runs the report, try to see if he can see the dimension. Do not use the missing dimension on rows or columns. If he can see the dimension, ask him to select one scenario. This will solve the issue.
3. If he cannot see the dimension, try to change the layout of the report.

LC / Solaris Errors occured during the installation : null

Hi all,
I'm installing LC with WebLogic on a Solaris server. Everything seems to goes right till the end of the process when I get "Errors occured during the installation" and the error message is "null". It's not actually helpfull...
I've checked the installation folder permissions : 777 so it seems to be right too.
The only weird thing I see is that the serial number I have to use seems to be for Windows : "Adobe LiveCycle ES Win WebLogic", but it worked because it allowed me to install a bunch of applications.
I'm logged as root.
Any idea ?
