Error in applying gif icon on a button in 10g forms

Dear users...I wanna apply a gif image on a push button named "Pb_Ext" in my form but I'm being failed in this simple task :( For this purpose I've taken the following steps.
1: I made Iconic property to "Yes" and in icon filename property I gave the gif file name, in my case that is "bdone", which I got from 10g forms directory. (Is it necessary to write file extension with file name? Although I've tried both ways.)
2: I set up icons path value in registry.dat file as: default.icons.iconpath=H:\10g_Tst\03\03
default.icons.iconextension=gif
3: In formsweb.cfg file registry.dat file is defined as:
serverApp=default
So is there anything else remaining to be set up? Can u guess that where is the fault?

One of this may help

• Trouble displaying icon on push button in 6i Forms

Hi,
I'm having trouble displaying an icon on a button at both design and run times. I'm using Forms 6i with client/server enviornment. I have tried to follow several forums regarding icon setup and the Whitepaper articles. I have tried different suggestions but am still unable to get the icon. Here's my latest attempt:
1. Copied .jar file to C:\Oracle_Developer_9i\forms90\java folder
2. Modified formsweb.cfg (in the serverApp=default section) and included the following:
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,myAppIcons.jar
imagebase=codebase
3. In button's properties I set:
iconic = 'Yes'
icon filename = C:\Oracle_Developer_9i\forms90\java\myAppIcons.jar
My guess is that I didn't copy the icon files (from the .jar file) correctly. As suggested in the Whitepaper, I don't have the c:\ myApp\ icons directory. I did a search for an icon directory and found multiple icons folders (due to other oracle projects installed on my pc) but don't know which one to use. Being that I'm using 6i and the instructions were for 9i I didn't know if the directory/folder name is different. Is there another directory/folder (using 6i) where I should copy all the .gif files from in addition to storing the .jar file in the C:\Oracle_Developer_9i\forms90\java directory?
Also, I feel that I'm not calling it correctly from the location in step 3. Being that the icon exists in the jar file, how would I reference it within the file? Does anybody have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Eric

Robin,
I tried your suggestions but am still unable to view the icon. Here's what I now have tried.
1. I've created UI_ICONS in the windows registry under the form's oracle home and am calling c:\icons from that variable.
2. In c:\icons, I copied the .jar file's contents (search.gif) into this folder. This is where I may have a problem in addition to my next step in calling the filename. You mentioned in your first post to put my .ICO files there. Should I rename my .gif to .ico? Not sure if I followed you there.
3. In the button property, I set icon = yes and icon filename = c:\icons\search.gif -- Not sure if I used the right syntax for the filename. I've tried renaming it to .ico and it still does not display.
Sorry about all the questions but I really appreciate your help. Do you see anything else that I did that may cause it to not display?
Thanks again,
Eric

Afternoon,
Thank you for your answer to rename the DLL file. That has worked now and I was able to continue the installation. I had the same problem with upgrade from 10.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.4.0.

• Anyone know how to show icon of a button in webforms?

My form have several buttons with an icon.
I create a item named 'UI_ICON' and set the value the directory of icon path. But when I deplop the form on the webserver or run the from IE 5.0. There are are no image shown.
BTW: I have converted the image format from .icon to .gif.
Anyone can help me?
Thanks a ton.

To specify directory path and image format for iconic button image files:
1.Open the Registry.dat file in a text editor.
2.Add the following lines to Registry.dat:
<app_class>.icons.iconpath=
<app_class>.icons.iconextension=<format>
Replace <app_class> with a valid application class referenced by your Web
application.
Replace with one of the following:
a fully-qualified URL that points to any directory on any server:
inv_form.icons.iconpath=http://abc_dev.com/html/icons/
a virtual directory on the same server from which the HTML page
downloaded:
inv_form.icons.iconpath=/icons/
a directory relative to the directory from which the HTML page was
downloaded
(non-cartridge implementations only):
inv_form.icons.iconpath=icons/
Replace <format> with gif (for GIF files) or jpg (for JPEG files). For
example:
inv_form.icons.iconextension=gif
Default Settings:
If you do not specify a directory path or image format for an application
class, Forms uses the default settings in the Registry.dat file:
default.icons.iconpath=
default.icons.iconextension=gif
Solution Explanation:
=====================
Application classes enable you to specify the directory path and image format
(GIF or JPEG) of image files for iconic buttons.
Using application classes is optional, since Forms supplies default settings
for the icon path. Use application classes if you wish to create a number of
different settings that you can alternate between by switching a single
reference in your application's cartridge settings, cartridge HTML file, or
static HTML file.
At runtime, Forms first looks for settings that correspond to the specified
application class (if any). If no application class settings exist, Forms uses
default settings. By default, Forms will search for iconic button image files
in the directory from which the application's HTML file was downloaded, and
will append ".gif" to the filename provided in your form. By default Forms
will only search for .GIF images, but you can switch to using .JPEG images in
the Registry.dat file.
To create settings for an application class, you must add the appropriate
settings to the Registry.dat file.

• Applying a class to a button on a page

Using APEX 4.0.2
Trying to style a button on a form.
BUTTON STYLE = Template Based Button
BUTTON TEMPLATE = Button
BUTTON ATTRIBUTES = class="btn btn-primary"
When I firebug the page the only class I see applied is "t3ButtonHtmlMiddle".
Is it possible to style the button with simple class attributes?

This is an example of the button HTML:
<table class="t10Button" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" #BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES# id="#BUTTON_ID#" summary="">
<tr>
<td class="t10L"><a href="#LINK#"></a></td>
<td class="t10C"><a href="#LINK#">#LABEL#</a></td>
<td class="t10R"><a href="#LINK#"><img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_10/button_right.gif" width="4" height="24" alt="" /></a></td>
</tr>
</table>so the actual class of the button title would be something like this:
table.t10Button td.t10C a {color: #000000;}The best would be to have a look at the complete code of the button and create appropriate classes for all subclasses you find in a button template. Just create a template copy of your standard and play with it a bit.

• Transparent part of a GIF icon

I cannot get my GIF icon to be transparent. I have edited my GIF so that parts of it are transparent but when I put it on my button the underlying color does not show through.
I haven't set any flags. Is there something I should do to make the GIF transparent?

I'm having the same problem with an application being migrated from Java 1.3 to Java 1.4. Under 1.3 the transparency is correct, under 1.4 it is lost on JButtons and JLabels. The transparency is set correctly (I verified it with PSP7), and it doesn't seem to make any difference whether I use GIFs or PNGs, transparency still doesn't work. Oddly there are some places where it does work (I used one image as a test because it was working in one place but not in another) and even that didn't work in the place where other images weren't working.
I'm running 1.4.2_01 on Win2K, but it also affects 1.4.1_03.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I must admit that I've never had this problem before so I'm really perplexed as to why it's suddenly happening here. I think maybe there's something odd about the code, but since it isn't mine and since there is rather a lot it's rather difficult to tell.
Thanks,
Bart

• Adding icon to a button

Hello
When I put a JButton on a frame I see in Property Inspector , Visial tab a icon section which it's follow is "<none>"
how I can use it for adding a icon to the button
my mean is I want add an icon to button by Property Inspector , but I don't know how I can do it
can you say to me ?
thanks

Hi,
I don't think the property inspector will help you adding the icon because it needs to be added from the class loader path. In an older JCLient Demo we used the following class
public class ImageLoader
public ImageLoader()
public ImageIcon getImageIcon(String name)
return new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource(name + ".gif"));
}This then could be called when setting the icon to a JButton at runtime, passing the icon name to it

How I can remove the default togglebutton and use the my custom icon as a button?

Yes, they are icons and they are called "handles". The easiest way to change then is to use UIManager.
If you haven't done so before, look through the hash table UIManager.getLookAndFeelDefaults().
import java.awt.*;
import java.net.*;

UIManager.put("Tree.closedIcon", new ImageIcon(new URL(prefix + "save.gif")));

• Turning an icon into a button in a table

Currently, I access a database in my program, and if I find an 'X' in a specific column, I place an icon in that field. What I would like to do is have that icon act as a button, that will pop up a screen with further information about the table line item. I am new at Java, and not sure what to do next.
Here is the code for my table model:
class sciTableModel extends javax.swing.table.DefaultTableModel
public sciTableModel()
super();
public sciTableModel(java.util.Vector data, java.util.Vector columnNames)
super(data, columnNames);
and here is the code for my renderer
class IconRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer
public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table,
Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column)
ImageIcon iconl = new ImageIcon("info.gif");
String headerText = (String)value;
// System.out.println(headerText);
JLabel headerComponent =
((JLabel)super.getTableCellRendererComponent(table, value, isSelected, hasFocus, row, column));
headerComponent.setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.CENTER);
if (headerText != null)
headerComponent.setIcon(iconl);
headerComponent.setText("");
else
headerComponent.setIcon(null);
headerComponent.setText(null);
return headerComponent;
In the public class I set the renderer, and in the actionevent that runs the database access I use the tablemodel.
Any help on how I can turn this icon into a button would be appreciated.

In A JTable, the render has the job of drawing one or more cells, but it's a rubber stamp -- it doesn't
respond to events like a true component. What you describe isn't the job of an cell editor either,
since, obviously, nothing is being edited. That leaves JTable itself: I suggest you write a mouse
listener for your JTable and respond appropriately when the right cell is clicked:
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) {
JTable table = new JTable(20, 5);
table.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter(){
public void mousePressed(MouseEvent evt) {
JTable t = (JTable) evt.getSource();
Point point = evt.getPoint();
int col = t.columnAtPoint(point);
int row = t.rowAtPoint(point);
if (col != -1 && row != -1) {
int modelCol = t.convertColumnIndexToModel(col);
System.out.println("clicked on model cell (" + row + "," + modelCol + ")");
JFrame f = new JFrame("Test");
f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
f.getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(table));
f.pack();
f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
f.setVisible(true);
}As the code demonstrates, don't forget to translate from view columns to model columns.
By the way, why are you subclassing the default table model? You aren't changing any behavior...

• Animated gif icon for an exception instead of the standard icon?

Hello,
is there a possibillity to use an animated gif icon for an exception instead of the red standard icon in a web template?
I tried to change the standard icon s_s_ledr.gif against an animated gif icon in the mime repository, but it does not work. In the IE the icon is still shown without animation.
Maybe I´ve changed the wrong icon?

Hi Andreas,
it is possible to integrate own symbols for exceptions. If you can use animated gif I don't know. However there is a post over here explaining the usage of the modification for symbols:

Frank,
Thank you for your answer. I had not checked (will do so tonight).
I had considered it adequate to wipe out the entire system directory (thereby wiping out the integrated weblogic server), but perhaps it was not adequate? I did not specify that this is on the integrated server, but that is the case....
