I'm facing similar issue, can't burst when the template is excel. I;m getting a different error as shown below, but still curious to know whether you were able to burst the excel template based report in xml publisher.

We're generating invoices using BI Publisher as one large XML report, then routing them to customers using the concurrent bursting program to break up the xml by customer and faxing / emailing / printing as needed.

Error While Bursting Invoices Through Web Service

Hi All,
In our present implementation, we are using BI Publisher to generate pdf invoices and send them to customer through email. We have three seperate servers say server A (Billing application server running on HP Unix), server B ( File server and other batch application server which is also running on HP Unix) and server c ( BIP Server running on windows). BIP is installed in windows server but the repository and other folders of BIP are located in server B. we have installed samba in server B so that BIP can access it.
The billing application server running on hp unix generates invoice xml. one invoice xml may ontain upto 10k invoices. We transfer this xml to server B and shedule the batch job to generate the pdf invoices. The batch job is a java applicaiton which calls BIP web services after generating xdo files and passes the file name and location to web service.
When we perfomr this task through BIP GUI, it works fine and pdf invocies are generated. However, the webservice call fails during scheduling process and gives foloiwng error.

We have a report that generates the XML output (ACH notification)

The control file calls the delivery method (email 123 in the example) and uses the following template

Bursting with JAVA APIs / MultiThreading / Errors Handling

We are trying to use the bursting JAVA APIs 10.1.3.3.1 Standalone) to burst huge XML files and generate PDF Files from RTF templates. Here are a list of our issues with this feature:
1. We have some problems catching the errors when bursting. We have tried to use the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class, but it is not always reacting like we think it should. Could you please give us an exemple of a clean bursting error catching or a brief description of how we could do it. We have a lot of difficulties to find information about using the JAVA APIs of BIP.
2. Is it a clean way of catching the bursting errors to use the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class?
3. When using the 10.1.3.3.1 DocumentProcessor JAVA API, the process gets killed when the RTF template is not where the control file specified it. Even when using a finally clause containing the document processor, we can't fetch the error from the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class. We did not find a way to catch this error which make our program crash.
4. How can we enable multi-threading that is included in the DocumentProcessor JAVA APIs so it can take advantage of the multi-processors environnements?

1. Check tim d. blog, you can use the bursting listners to get the errors. It's also in the documentation.
First, on every exception, the Bursting APIs are dumping the error in the Logger. So I can't see how we can use the listeners to catch these. We can check the hasExceptions on the Logger but still, we have some problems with this. When we deploy our application as a MDB (Message driven bean), it seems that once the hasException flag has been raised, if we call the MDB again, it is still up. Is there documentation about that Logger class? Also, I'm worried that we won't be able to call our MDB twice to run simultaneously 2 different bursting process since it seems the Logger is something static, keeping every exception in memory... That's bad.. And show me where you have found documentation about this. All I see in documentation is how to call the DocumentProcessor in a couple of lines. I don't see anything about a clean way to catch errors.
2. Yes/No/Depends. I think it's fine. If your changing the logger options in your program that could come back to haunt you.
I guess so, I'm not changing anything and its already haunting me...

We got an answer from the dev team which is to add two properties to the document processor, something like:

We did that and what we got is that the process started and it got stuck in a dead lock at the first document processing. How nice! :)
We got a milestone in March and I'm really worried about all those problems... Not enough documentation, a pretty bad error handling, errors making crash the whole oc4j container, Logger seems not to be handling simultaneous calls/ threads, not even handling two subsequent calls... etc.
If anyone has the magic answer, it would be pretty welcomed!

After upgrading ATG RUP7, we have issue related to the XML Bursting Program.
XML Publisher Report Bursting Program (XDOBURSTREP Short Name) is failing with error when there is no output is generated by the Oracle Report, this was working fine before the ATG RUP7.

I have a bursting file with a filter; the aim is to only generate an email when the report contains data:

It works fine (if there is data the email is sent, if there isn't it doesn't), but (there's always one!), if there is no data the Bursting program still runs but completes with an error:

For 'tidiness' is there any way of stopping the bursting program from completing in error when there is no data?

use filter for non-existing data and email it to a non existing email address.
This way the program will create an output and try to email that and complete successfully, but since email address is not valid the mail will not be sent to anyone.

SOLVED: Bursting - Delivery Channel:null

Hi all,
Am getting an error in bursting as follows (in EBS):
Error!! Could not deliver the output for Delivery channel:null. Please check the Log for error details.
The PDF file is being generated and can be located and opened in the standard output directory but it is not getting emailed as it should.
This issue may be instance related as the same code is working on another instance.
Can anyone point me at where I should be looking to resolve this issue?

I am using R12 applications.
I get this error 'Error!! Could not deliver the output for Delivery channel:null' in the output file of the bursting concurrent program.
The smtp server name the ids the mail id and all other things are fine in the bursting file since i have hard coded them.
I have also telnet <smtp server name> 25 frm command prompt and it worked fine.
I don't know why i am facing this issue.

Hi,
Found the cause of the error:
When the Data Definition was migrated from DEV to PROD using the ldt files, somehow it dropped the default territory which is 'United States'.
Hence the path of the template xdo://AR.XXINV_REPRINT.en.US is throwing an error.
The below query can be used to determine the value that should go in the bursting control file in the path:
SELECT APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME||'.'||
TEMPLATE_CODE||'.'||
DEFAULT_LANGUAGE ||'.'||
DEFAULT_TERRITORY
FROM XDO_TEMPLATES_VL
WHERE TEMPLATE_CODE like '%XXINV%REPRINT%'
REUSULT:
AR.XXINV_REPRINT.en.00
Hence AR.XXINV_REPRINT.en.US should be replaced with AR.XXINV_REPRINT.en.00 in the bursting control file which will fix the issue.

Error while configuring a Report Bursting in InfoView

Hi,
I try to configure a Publication inside InfoView ("Bursting"). If I configure a simple Report as "Dynamic Recipient List" I get the error: "Type of value has a mismatch with column type"
An parallel-Installation (same setup-file) on an other Server (Win7) works fine withe the same Reports
If I google this errormessage, I mostly get hints to ADO.Net errors!?
System:
I'm using a 30-days Trial of Crystal Reports Server 2008
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition
Productversion: 12.1.0.882 on both systems

Print a custom Error message in the XML bursting program's log file...

Hi,
I having this requirement, where i need to print a custom error message in the xml bursting program's log file.
Actually i am having a report where i create invoices and then those invoices are emailed to the respective customers, now say if a customer has three contacts and there is only two valid email id's so what happens is bursting will be successful for two contacts whereas the third contact dosen't get any emails. when this happens i need to log a message in the bursting programs log file stating a custom message.
Two things i want to know..
1- Whether is it possible to write into the xml bursting programs log file
2- If yes, then how..
note: it ll be greatly appreciated if the answer is elaborated.
