Error in byte shifting a string

Hi all
I am trying to set up a class that will byte shift a string. The class will accept an encrypted string as a parameter, calculate the decrypted version of this and then return it. It seems to be ding this correctly except it adda an extra character at the beginning of the string it returns.
For example it returns 'demo1' when it should just be 'demo1'.
I have the following so far
import java.io.*;
public class Decrypt {
    public Decrypt() {
    public String decryptPass(String encPass) {
        //Set blank decrypted pass to ""
        String decPass = "";
        try
            // loop through each char in encrypted pass, byte shiftin each char and
            // appending to the decrypted pass
            for( int i=0; i<encPass.length(); i++)
                int bt = encPass.charAt(i);
                if (bt != -1) {
                    bt >>>= 1;
                    decPass += (char)bt;
        catch (Exception e)
            e.printStackTrace();
        System.out.println("\t\t"+decPass);
        return decPass;
}Any ideas why this is would be appreciated.
Regards

Are you sure that the encrypted string is correct?

    Clearly your error is because the string concatenation you are doing with sys_connect_by_path is exceeding the 4000 bytes permitted by SQL.
    In that case you need to concatenate your data into a CLOB datatype, for which you'll need a CLOB aggregation function...

  • How to get the length in bytes of a string

    My string has both latin (1 byte) and chinese (2 bytes).
    My program is in unicode system.
    How to measure the length in bytes of the string?
    the xlen function does not work.

    Hello,
    parameters : p_str type string.
    data : len type i.
    len = strlen( p_str ).
    write : / len.
    With Regards,
    BVS
    Hi BSV, your code return the number of characters not bytes.
    Remember chinese character in US are encoded with 2 bytes.
    And my string contain both latin and chinese characters.
    thanks

    I am getting the same error when editing a Power Query in an Excel spreadsheet. It happens when I change a Group By step to do a Sum instead of Count Rows.

  • How to solve the error { java.lang.NumberFormatException: empty String }

    Sir,
    I am using the following code and get subjected error.
    {error}{
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: empty String
         at sun.misc.FloatingDecimal.readJavaFormatString(FloatingDecimal.java:1011)
         at java.lang.Double.parseDouble(Double.java:540)
         at invoice.InvoiceController$4.changed(InvoiceController.java:192)
    }{error}
    and
    //wt ,  sValExlSt1 and sPrice1 are numbers
    wt1.textProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<String>() {
                    public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends String> observable, String oldValue, String newValue) {
                        sValExlSt1.setText(String.valueOf(
                                Double.parseDouble(newValue)  * Double.parseDouble(sPrice1.getText())));
            } catch (NumberFormatException e1) {
    }Please help.

    One way is to check each input variable for valid numbers and if a blank or a text is detected, then make that variable zero.
    wt1.textProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<String>() {
                    public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends String> observable, String oldValue, String newValue) {
                        final double doubleTXTValue = 0.0;
                        final double doubleNewValue = 0.0;
                        try {doubleTXTValue = Double.parseDouble(sPrice1.getText());} catch(Exception e) {}
                        try {doubleNewValue = Double.parseDouble(newValue);} catch(Exception e) {}
                        sValExlSt1.setText(String.valueOf(
                                doubleNewValue  * doubleTXTValue));
                });The above code will make sure the user does not enter invalid double values of any type.
    You can take this further by inserting the old value of the variables or presenting an error to the user.
    If only blank values need to be checked then you can use a more simplistic check by just checking for blanks.
    wt1.textProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<String>() {
                    public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends String> observable, String oldValue, String newValue) {
                        final double doubleTXTValue = 0.0;
                        final double doubleNewValue = 0.0;
                        if (sPrice1.getText().trim().length() > 0) doubleTXTValue = Double.parseDouble(sPrice1.getText());
                        if (newValue.trim().length() > 0) doubleNewValue = Double.parseDouble(newValue);
                        sValExlSt1.setText(String.valueOf(
                                doubleNewValue  * doubleTXTValue));
                });

  • Strange Error - 5005: Unknown error optimizing byte code.

    Hello flashcoders,
    I am facing strange problem since long time. This error code
    even doesn't exist in the list of error codes.
    This is the exact error I am getting while I compile the FLA
    from flash CS3.
    Location : , Line 1
    Description : 5005: Unknown error optimizing byte code.
    Source :
    I don't know exact reason about its generation, But here are
    the some possible reasons / hints:
    Case 1) Overloading:
    1.1) Size of .fla is 10.5 MB and its document class contains
    more than 60 classes to import and has more than 100 variables.
    1.2) Even if I put In document class - only variable
    initialization and class importing are there. Nothing in its
    constructor + no other functions are defined. Still error is there.
    1.3) If we import all classes and has all variables then it
    gives this compile error. But if we remove some particular numbers
    of variable, it's start working. In this we can remove any type of
    variables.
    1.4) After reducing variables, application starts working
    till that it won't.
    Case 2)
    2.1) Size of .fla is 1.75 MB and its document class is same
    as above one.
    2.2) All assumptions are same as above.
    2.3) Now this class contains all functions and have
    initialization of all variables + classes.
    2.4) In this If we remove 3-5 variables, it will start
    functioning else it won't.
    Its a huge application so I am even confused that what is the
    cause of error and this error stopped our working for a week now.
    Bit more information about the project that may help the team to
    identify the reason.
    1. Project development started with flash public alpha 3.
    When we started using Flash CS3, we had some design problem if we
    do open the FLA in CS3, so we completely redesigned the Movieclips
    etc., in Flash
    CS3 IDE.
    2. Project contains approx 250 classes.
    3. In main application, it imports 67 classes. (it works if I
    keep 63 classes in document class).
    4. In the case 3 above, if that works with 63 classes and If
    I do add 3 frames in existing movieclip, it stops working.
    5. In the case 3 above, if that works with 63 classes and If
    I do add / declare few more variables, it stops working.
    It would be humble appreciation if someone can come up with
    some light in the dark tunnel.

    We Never Give Up!

    I've posted an article on this problem -
    http://www.negush.net/blog/5005-unknown-error-optimizing-byte-code/
    - and here are a few ideas on how to handle it (check out the
    comments):
    - try turning off the optimizer
    - delete ASO files
    - also it seems that changing the java vm heap memory size
    could help (find he environment variables in the Windows computer
    properties and search the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS variable)

    Friends,
    I want to know maximum byte size the string can

    Is there any restriction for the size of the string

    Max size is, as you could have easily found out by searching, Integer.MAX_VALUE bytes.

    log in with the service account and check if the file /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/50sig/50Sig.tar.gz exists. If it doesn't, you ran into CSCsb91681 and will need to (1)install a signature update, (2) reset all sigs to default settings, and (3) try to apply the 5.0(1c) upgrade again.

  • What is the best way to convert a cluster into byte array or string

    I'm writing a program that sends UDP packets and I've defined the data I want to send via large clusters (with u8/u16/u32 numbers, u8/u16/u32 arrays, and nested clusters). Right before sending the data, I need to convert the clusters either into strings or byte arrays. The flatten to string function is almost perfect for this purpose. However, it's appending lengths to arrays and strings which renders this method useless, as far as I can tell.
    As I have many of these clusters, I would rather not hard code the unbundle by names and converting/typecasting to byte arrays or strings for each one.
    Is there a feature or tool I am overlooking?
    Thank you!

    deceased wrote:
    Flatten to string has a boolean input of "Prepend string or array size" ... The default value is true.
    That only specifies if a string or array size should be prepended if the outermost data element is a string or array. For embedded strings or arrays it has no influence. This is needed for the Unflatten to be able to reconstruct the size of the embedded strings and arrays.
    The choice to represent the "Strings" (and Arrays) in the external protocol to LabVIEW strings (and arrays) is actually a pretty bad one unless there is some other element in the cluster that does define the length of the string. An external protocol always needs some means to determine how long the embedded string or array would be in order to decode the subsequent elements that follow correctly.
    Possible choices here are therefore:
    1) some explicit length in the protocol (usually prepended to the actual string or array)
    2) a terminating NULL character for strings, (not very friendly for reliable protocol parsing)
    3) A fixed size array or string
    For number 1) and 2) you would always need to do some special processing unless the protocol happens to use explicitedly 32 bit integer length indicators directly prepended before the variable sized that.
    For number 3) the best representation in LabVIEW is actually a cluster with as many elements inside as the fixed size.

  • How do I avoid Error 85 in Scan From String scanning VISA read buffer?

    I have encountered an Error 85 with my Scan From String VI. I have a timed
    loop to read data from a device (flowmeter) using a serial port. This device takes
    periodic measurements and sends the reading which contains a numerical value to the serial port COM1. It cannot be read continuously, and the period
    between measurements may vary, so I decided a timed loop would be better than a while loop.
    The VI begins with VISA Configure Serial Port and then
    goes to a VISA Write which sends the message to the device to begin
    taking measurements. After this, the device usually says "TAKE FLOWMETER READINGS" to the terminal, thereafter only sending numbers. Then begins my timed loop containing VISA Read. I
    am taking the read buffer two places.
    First, I am taking it to an Array to Spreadsheet String with the
    Format String %.3f, as was in the Write to Text File example. Then I am
    using Concatenate Strings with this string and also a string containing
    the System Time. This string goes to Write to Text File, which I have
    configured using Open/Create/Replace File outside of the loop.
    Second, I am taking the read buffer to a waveform chart. I thought
    it would be a good idea to use Scan From String to convert the string
    into a DBL which I am then sending to the waveform
    chart.
    I am not sure if the initial "TAKE READINGS" message is giving me an error. I was able to get one reading saved to my text file from the device.
    Also the format string for my Scan From String is %.3f
    I am getting the Error 85 at the Scan From String only sometimes.
    When this happens, there is no data being written to the text file. But
    other times, I get data and it writes to the text file just fine (but
    rounds to nearest whole number).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! This serial port device has been giving me a lot of trouble.

    Is this what you mean? Did I wire the shift registers correctly?
    I didn't know if you meant to Concatenate before Scan From String or Concantenate before or after VISA Read?

    "Error 116 occurred at Unflatten From String

    All that you need to do is right-click on the Read from Text File and Write to Text File functions and uncheck "Convert EOL".
    Other comments:
    You should not hard-code the path inside the VI. Either place a front panel control to specify the path (perhaps with a default value set), or generate the path so that it is relative to the VI (such as being in the same directory as the VI).
    You are not wiring all your errors through so some errors can be lost.
    You do not need to have the VI open a reference to itself. If you delete the Open VI Reference function the code will still work.

  • [SOLVED] g++ errors saying byte array is unsigned char array

    Does anyone know why this code
    #include <iostream>

    using namespace std;
    int main() {

    rng.GenerateBlock(pcbScratch, BLOCKSIZE);
    for(unsigned int i = 0; i < BLOCKSIZE; i++) {

    Sure thing!
    I used to post on the forum under the username l33tunderground, but have since decided I would rather go with a less childish username.
    To be honest, I just started a project in Eclipse and attempted to include the Crypto++ libraries, which I installed through pacman. I don't know if there's anything special I need to do to properly include the library, as the Crypto++ documentation is painfully lacking in basics.
    Edit: Shameless plug to the Arch forums
    I've found in the past that Arch users are incredibly reliable and helpful, so I posted here rather than a traditional programming forum.

  • GRC 5.3 - Management Report Error: Cannot assign an empty string to host..

    Good day Kiran Kandepalli and Others.
    I have successfully executed the background jobs -
    Full User, Role, Profile Synchronization & a
    Full Batch Risk Analysis
    When I run the Management Reports I receive the following error -
    Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 10.
    Has anybody had this error message before?
    When I check table VIRSA_CC_PRMVL, variable 10 is set to No in Nullable collumn.

    Hi Sahad,
    Thanks for your response.  I have checked the usr02 table and logs and do not see any empty fields or strings.  This process worked for 5.2 but fails in 5.3.  Here is the excerpt from the log for the Management Report run.  It seems to fail consistenly at a certain point.  If I knew what the batch job was looking for in host variable 10 I might be able to resolve the problem.  It seems to fail when it starts to report on users.
    Thanks.
    Dan.
