we are trying to upload data from flat files in SAP BPC but an error is coming viz Object reference not set to an instance of an object .

Hi,
I faced the same issue earlier.
This is what i did. SE38-RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL run the program and give your sourcesystem name this activates all the structure including new version /BIC structure what you have stated.
After which you need to refresh the RSA1 Tcode and do the same process again to load the hierarchy.
It should work fine now.

Time taken to upload a flat file in SAP BI

Hello Experts,
Want to know , about how much time it will generally take to upload a flat file in SAP BI having data volume near about 10 million .
OR what is standard time taken to upload the data from a flat file what ever be the size of the the flat file in terms of records ,
please provide me the detaild information regarding the time taken , plz clarify it , and thanks in advance

there are some other points that you need to consider while trying to evaluate your question:
- how wide is your file/how many columns it has?
- what's the type of interface you using for flat file upload? is it: flat file loaded from user workstation? from application server? from web interface (like planning app)?
- how complex is login used to transform the data from flat file before data is saved in BW objects?
In general 10mil of records is not a problem is not a problem if you using upload from application server. If you using load from user workstation thsi can be an issue. Even less performant is load of that much data via web interface.

Error Loading Data into a flat file

I am recieving the following error when loading data into a flat file from a flat file. SQL 2005 is my back end DB. If I cut the file iin half approx 500K rows my ODI interface works fine. Not sure what to look at.. I rebuit the interface which before was just dying giving no error and now I am getting this.

Figured it out, found similar post that stated changing the HEAP size
Increase the page size in odiparams.bat in the bin folder and restart Designer.
For eg:
set ODI_INIT_HEAP=128m
set ODI_MAX_HEAP=1024m

Va31 shedule line agreement data upload from flat file

Hi abapers
I have to upload some data (va31) from flat file to my database (shedule line agreement data) I am using user exit for it...Cant get which user exit will solve the purpose and where to check it from..I tried using SDTRM001 , meeta001 and and the va45A series but its not working. I used break point on these user exits but its not stoping at break point.
Can any one help me where to find which user exit will work in this case?

CUNIT error in data loading from flat file after r/3 extraction

After R/3 business content extraction, if i load data from flat file to info cube, I am getting Conversion exit CUNIT error, what might be the reason, the data in the flat file 0unit column is accurate, and mapping rules are also correct, but still i am getting error with CUNIT.?

check your unit if you are loading amount or quantities what mapping you have and what you are loading from flat files.

Procurement Card data upload from flat file to database

Hi All,
I need to upload Procurement Card data from a flat file to the database in the table BBP_PCMAS.
I found a BAPI BAPI_PCARD_CREATEMULTIPLE which uploads the data perfectly, however the structure PCMASTER that it takes as input does not contain the field for Blocking reason PCBLOCK - Reason for blocking procurement card. I need to upload this file as well from the flat file.
Any suggestions?

You are correct the function module BAPI_PCARD_CREATEMULTIPLE does not contain the PCBLOCK field.
Alternatively what you can do is read the PC data after it is created and modify it with the PCBLOCK appropiately. The necessary function modules are given below.

BBP_PCMAS_MODIFY_PCMAS - Modify Data
Note: BBP_PCMAS_MODIFY_PCMAS is a Update Task FM. Hence it shoild be called as given below, ( refer form write_data of the FM BAPI_PCARD_CREATEMULTIPLE)

i created a flat file using this :

by a middleware . The SAP interface program reads the file from the application server and then starts processing the data. Please help me how to create the inbound IDoc and which FM needs to be used.

In this i am loading data from flat file to BPC NW. One error occured in this process that is Record Duplication.
Total 17000 records in that 7000 recards rejected by the reason of duplication.

Hi,
You cannot send the duplicated with the standard import package. You need to create or add a new package and link to /CPMB/APPEND process chain and do the import. This would consider the duplicate entries also. It looks like you need somehow load all the records including the duplicate ones.
So on excel go to Manage Data -> Maintain Data management -> organize package list and add a new package and link to the standard BPC process chain /CPMB/APPEND.

Error writing data in a flat file using UTL_FILE feature

Hi All,
I have written a package which fetches data from four different cursors and inserts into a temporary table.
Now this temporary table is used to write data in a file using the UTL_FILE feature.
fhandler :=
UTL_FILE.fopen (l_path,'Demand_Transactions_'
|| TO_CHAR (SYSDATE, 'YYYYMMDDHH24MI')
|| '.txt',
'w',
max_linesize => 32767
This table has 62593 records and when it starts writing data into the file from the table it errors out after writing 30045 records with the error - ORA-01722: invalid number.
Can anyome please advise me is it because of the max_linesize => 32767. If not then what can be the possible reason.
Any help in this would be highly appreciated.

The error would indicate that you have a character to number conversion going on somewhere but the characters are not numeric so it's failing that conversion.
This doesn't sound like a UTL_FILE issue, but more to do with how you are building up your strings to output to the file.
You would need to show us your code that builds up the lines you are writing out, with details of the datatypes of any of the columns/variables included in that.
