Error in deploying the java studio creator application to tomcat

Hi,
I'm trying to deploy my Sun Java Studio application to Apache Tomcat 5.0.28.
A simple JSF web application built using the creator works fine after deploying the war file under tomcat/weapps directory.
In case of a application with databse connection I'm getting the
" com.sun.rave.web.ui.appbase.ApplicationException: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class '' for connect URL 'null' "
above error. My application connects to Oracle database using the Oracle Server type provided by the Studio Creator.
I have copied
jstl.jar
standard.jar
to webapps\%app%\WEB-INF\lib
The below url is currently not available ( Page not Found )stated as a solution in most of the querries regarding the deplyment to tomcat.
http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/tips/deploy_to_tomcat.html
Thanks for any help
abhi

I had similar problems.
I used mysql with tomcat and have mysql in my Creator environment as well but still had the driver message you experienced.
I found that simply copying the WAR file into the webapp directory in tomcat caused a faulty deployment (it was creating /etc/tomcat5/localhost/YourProject.xml as a directory, not as a file)
I updated my Projects/MyProject/build.xml to include a deploy target and I manually execute the ant deploy step (having not figured out how to tweak the internal ant within Creator)
Note that this requires two jar files (see comments in the ant definition)

    I am using
    Hibernate 3.2
    EJB 3
    WebLogic 10.3
    MyEclipse 6.6

I think I've seen this before and I believe that it might the way Hibernate 3.2 loads classes. I seem to remember actually patching this myself using a fix someone made at one point and getting it to work, but that used to be documented on a dev2dev blog comment that is no longer around :(
Here are some hints on similar errors:

Some Hibernate issues with ANTLR can be resolved if you can put all of the relevant classes in your web-inf/lib or app-inf/lib and use the appropriate deployment descriptors to "prefer" your classes.

  • Deploying Java Studio Creator webapps to SJSAS PE 8.1 + Oracle

Has anybody managed to deploy Java Studio Creator webapps to Sun Application Server PE 8.1 ?
Everything works fine in the Java Studio Creator embeded app server (8.0?), but I get the following error when I try to access the database (Oracle 9):
    [#|2005-01-25T20:33:48.642+0000|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe8.1|javax.enterprise.system.container.web|_ThreadID=19;|WebModule[/smwebinterface]userView Initialization Failure
javax.faces.FacesException: java.sql.SQLException: JDBC driver does not support PreparedStatement.getMetaData()
I'm using the latest (9.2.0.5) oracle jdbc drivers downloaded from their webpage.
    Thanx,
    Pedro

PreparedStatement.getMetaData() is not required to be supported by a J2EE compliant JDBC driver. This is an optional feature. I would suggest that you post on the Creator newsgroup to see if they have a workaround for you as perhaps their is a config setting.

  • Java Studio Creator IDE Download Error

So I just watched a demo on the Java Studio Creator IDE and thought I'd go ahead and download it. So I followed the link from within the demo. I then had to create an account. That went just fine. After I got logged in, I went to the following url:
    http://developers.sun.com/members/promo/freetools/index.html
I clicked on the following hyperlinked text:
Download the Java Studio Creator IDE.
Which opened up a new window witht the following url:
    http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=8&PartDetailId=JSCI9-4Q2FT99M&TransactionId=try
However, that page encountered an error and directed me to:
    https://jsecom15k.sun.com/ECom/docs/FatalException.jsp;jsessionid=4786D8507DCAD6EF89AC9207D1A224E0
Which simply had "Fatal Exception" on the page.
Leave it to Sun to gloat about a new product and then not even be able to download it. Pretty lame if you ask me. Sun can't even get something as simple as a file download from the web to work, how well do you expect their development environment or resulting application to work.

    Hi,
sorry that you had trouble with the download:-( I just tried your steps and they seem to work for me;-) I guess, it was a temporary problem in the `global' download center.
But I would suggest if you want to try something new, go to
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/ea/jsc2/index.html
That's an EarlyAccess version of our upcoming release. The link you followed will bring you to the release product.
    Thanks,

  • How to get the client's IP address from within Java Studio Creator JSP/Java

    Hi there.
I just started using the Java Studio Creator 2 and now I need to get hold of the client IP address - this should be part of the request, but I cannot fint the right way to get hold of that information. I want to be able to access this information from within the Java-code in a JSP/JSPF-page.
Is there a new way of doing:
    request.getRemoteAddr();
This is the way I remember it from the JSP/Servlet-days...

    Hello, Burpyjac!
I don't understand what you want to do exactly. If you would like to write an applet for a website maybe Java Studio Creator is not what you want, it's an IDE for developing web applications running in an application server like Glassfisch, SJSAS, Tomcat and the like.
If your game need animation, drawings in a panel and the like you would need another IDE like Netbeans for example to develop an applet. Of course you can just use Notepad, but a IDE like Netbeans is much more comfortable (syntax highlighting, project managment, debugging).
Java Studio Creator is an IDE for web applications and it is based on Netbeans (if you saw both you will notice). If your game can live without graphics maybe you can use it - but be aware that this applications do not run alone, you need an application server.

    Hello:
I have a question regardin on how can I optimize the resources that my enterprise already have. I.e I can put an X86 Server (i mean really a server) to be an application server, however i can do It with the Java Studio Enterprise, but not on the Java Studio Creator, the question is the following.
Can I put an application server to the wole development departemen (the only have got The Java Studio Creator) so their Pc run smoother and need no RAM upgrade (actually most of the have got 256 Mb).
I Mean Put only to the PC the IDE an point the application server to another Server
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
Sun Java Studio Creator comes bundled with all the various components. It does not have an option for choosing the components to install .
An RFE has been filed on your behalf for choosing the required components only at the time of installation.
    Thanks,
    Creator Team.

  • Problems with the resources boundles in java studio creator 2

I try to migrate a proyect from sun java studio creator 2 early access to sun java studio creator 2 but I have a problem, the resource bundle work in creator 2 early access but doesn work in creator 2, somebody have the same problem?
and, the most important somebody could fix the problem?
    Note. sorry Im learning english

If I choose for SJSC2 to create JSF applications then
one, or better THE, reason is the (drag and drop)
    Design editor functionality.
Using resource bundles is a MUST. So if this means I
cannot use the Design Editor in combination with
resource bundles, then I will use something else...
I think there should be a statement issued by the
SJSC2 team about this bug and what the timescale for
    a decent solution wll be.
    Regards,
    Marcel
BTW: overall SJSC2 seems to be a good alternative to
develop an open source JSF application in a competing
timeframe.I agree. This bug is even more exacerbated by the fact that the error message is entered in the design form and generally clutters more room than was originally intented for the text. Not having i18n is a show stopper right now. Creator2 will have to fully support i18n before we can start using it.

Can anybody give me a clue as to what I've missed? I was under the impression that Java Studio Creator had everything it needed to be able to successfully test these web services. What it looks like to me, is that the actual web service package is not deployed to the development environment. I have no idea where I would find those, if they were not pre-packaged with the software. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brett

Are you to see the WSDL using the URL on a browser?
Check for proxy settings configured in the IDE.

Which version of windows are you using? which jdk? Did you have any conflicting products installed earlier.
