  • Warnings in faces-config.xml

    I've had to reinstall JDeveloper in the middle of trying to follow the 'Oracle Application Development Framework Tutorial', which shouldn't be a problem, since I just recreated the connection to my database and unzipped the appropriate file (starterApplications/SRDemo-EndOfChapter6.zip). However, there are a number of oddities, so maybe I haven't quite done it the right way:
    1. When I open the faces-config.xml, I see 19 warnings in 'Structure' - they are all about files 'not found under root .../public_html' - I suspect this may be the explanation for the next problem:
    2. The Diagram window is blank; can I do some magic to get it to appear or is this something I will have to recreate manually? Or is there something that I haven't installed (as suggested by the first problem)?

  • Problem w.r.t. JSF 2.0 with faces-config.xml

    Hi All,
    I am trying to evaluate the features of JSF2.0.
    For that, I have created a very simple application with "JSF 2.0.2".
    There is a page that displays a composite component and some other form related components (inputtext, commandbutton).
    When I deploy my application without any faces-config.xml file, everything renders perfectly fine.
    When I deploy the app with faces-config.xml (even an empty one without any configuration), none of the components get rendered.
    Only the html elements get displayed.
    I need to define some navigation-rules in my config file. I am not sure how to go further from here.
    The app server I am using for deploying my app is GlassFish(v3).
    Any help or pointers towards solving my problem are highly appreciated.
    You can find the xhtml file, etc of my project below.
    Thank you,
    With best regards,

    Sounds like you're missing definitions like:
    <!ELEMENT base-component-type (#PCDATA)>
    <!ENTITY input-props SYSTEM "input-props.xml">
    (one for each of the references)
    These definitions need to be nested in the DOCTYPE
    declaration like so:
    <!DOCTYPE faces-config PUBLIC
    "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD JavaServer Faces Config 1.1//EN"
    "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-facesconfig_1_1.dtd" [
    (definitions)

  • Working with multiple faces-config.xml files

    I would organize the menu definitions of my application in different faces-config.xml files. I would also put the label in different properties files.
    The SRDemo application uses a unique properties file for the menu used in the el expression from the faces-config.xml.
    Is it possible to have the same approach with not only one faces-config.xml file but has many faces-config.xml i want for my application.
    If yes does the binding name to be different or may be the same for each file ?

    We still have a litlle problem we don't find the reason. May be you can help us.
    The second menu level never appear in the menu list. The menu list appear as empty.
    The menu bar seem to be correct. We put twice the same model tree to be sure it was working well. Both menu appears. It is correct.

    Hi there Neelixx... I can help you!!! :P
    Hey, in your file system still existing your faces-config.oxd_faces, is in the WEB-INF folder, but in the JDeveloper is called only faces-config, and that is different to your faces-config.xml,
    That problem had his start when you delete the jsp files who was pointing the navigation case in the diagram (faces-config.oxd_faces)....then....the thing that you have to do....is.....replace that faces-config.oxd_faces with a previous version and start from there.....you will cant save your faces-config.oxd_faces but...you have to go to the source of your old faces-config.oxd_faces and copy the source code (in compare files, or history of your faces-config.oxd_faces you will can find the source code)....you can copy that to a txt file, then...close your JDeveloper, and, via Windows Explorer you have to find the your faces-config.oxd_faces in your proyect and replace it from there......to do that you have to open your faces-config.oxd_faces of your proyect with a notepad and delete all, then you have to copy your old source code of your faces-config.oxd_faces into that file....save....open your JDeveloper and be happy....
    PD:Take care to not add new navigation cases in your faces-config.xml until you can fix your faces-config.oxd_faces or that will not works again.....
    if that not works i will try to help you, because, im not in my work now, and here i dont have JDeveloper, then if i remember good that can solve your problem, but if not, tomorrow morning i will can be sure.
    And dont worry if this dont works....because that problem have a solution...i works unders version control and always happen that kind of things with our faces-config.oxd_faces and i always can rsolve it....
    Take Care, good luck and bye!

  • JSF Deployment error - login.faces not available

    I am new to JSF and am having deploying my first example JSF pages in Eclipse on default Tomcat (6.x).
    I feel I have done everything stated in the tutorial http://www.exadel.com/tutorial/jsf/jsftutorial-kickstart.html (I did not repeat the step by step instructions in the tutorial - instead, used these instructions to create my own pages / logic). However, I still get the following error:
    HTTP Status 404 - /reportwriter/pages/login.faces

    Can you think what I may be missing here to get the login.faces not available error?
    One hint I have is - if I do not set a jsp forward line in the index.jsp file, I get the server deployment for the index.jsp file OK. But not when I have the forward from index.jsp to /pages/login.faces
    I also tried setting the context in tomcat server.xml file as follows:
    <Context debug="0"
    docBase="C:/evsapi/ReportWriter/reportwriter/WebRoot"
    path="/LoginBean" reloadable="true"/>
    Still no use.
    Please help!

    I highly recommend your to stop with this and restart with JSF 1.2 instead. JSF 1.0 is legacy and may have still some nasty bugs. You may find this JSF 1.2 / Eclipse 3.4 / Tomcat 6.0 startup tutorial useful as well: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/01/jsf-tutorial-with-eclipse-and-tomcat.html]

    </context-param>There's the root cause of the problem, I think. Why did you add this? Are you using JSP or Facelets? This configuration is typical for Facelets, but in your remaining code I only see JSP's being mentioned.

  • Parse error on adf-faces-config.xml

    When I try to include the "adf-faces-config.xml" I get XML parse errors (see stack trace below). I'm using Jboss. ADF faces works fine, it's just when I try to include ths adf-faces-config.xml in web.xml.
    Anyone sees what is wrong here? The web.xml entry does get read, and it does find the adf-faces-config.xml file mentioned, and it does start to parse. I also know that the config file is OK (I tried several sample files I found on the web, and I even manually verified againt the schema) ...

    I found the "solution" myself.
    You can't actually rfer to adf-faces-config.xml from web-inf.
    I got this info from some website, but that was plain wrong.
    The ad-faces-config.xml location is hardcoded (WEB-INF/ad-faces-config.xml).

  • Error message in adf-faces-config.xml file in myEclipse

    hello,
    i'm trying to customize appearance of my JSF/ADF Faces app (which worked fine until now), and tried to insert a adf-faces-config.xml file in my WEB-INF directory, this is it (copied from a tutorial) :
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <adf-faces-config xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/view/faces/config">
    <!-- Enable debug output -->
    <debug-output>true</debug-output>
    <!-- Pick accessibility options based on a per-user managed bean -->
    <accessibility-mode>#{user.accessibilityMode}</accessibility-mode>
    <!-- A silly use of EL: English users get one appearance, -->
    <!-- others get another -->
    <skin-family>
    #{view.locale.language=='en' ? 'minimal' : 'oracle'}
    </skin-family>
    </adf-faces-config>
    after saving the file (in myEclipse) i get the following error message on the second line :
    cvc-elt.1 : Cannot find the declaration of element 'adf-faces-config'
    what does that mean and what should i do ?
    thx...

  • Error when try to print faces-config.xml

    Hello everybody.
    I use Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 10.1.3.3.0.4154 on Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 i386
    with Sun JDK 1.5.0_10
    I have an error when I try to print the faces-config.xml diagram.
    The messages are BME-01604 and BME-99001. I have been restarted my Jdeveloper. But the error still.
    Thank you,

    No solution, but a workaround. Try to publish the diagram. This creates a JPEG which you might be able to print.
    I'd suggest that you file a Service Request on Metalink.oracle.com also.
