  • Error In Running dbms_scheduler.run_job ORA-27369 with psexec.

    I'm using dbms_scheduler in Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 (32-bit).
    A recent application upgrade moved a portion of my work to a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server.
    Becuase of this I had to move some processing to this server.
    When the internal processes within the batch files ran locally, everything functioned properly.
    However, when I used 'psexec' to run them remotely on the other server, they crashed.
    The batch processes work perfectly fine on the OS level.  I believe the issue may have something to do with return code, but I'm not sure.

    I appreciate the attempt.  However, it does not address a Windows environment.
    In addition, ‘exertnaljob.ora’ does not exist in a Windows 10g install.
    If the Windows similar is the Windows Service Oracle JobScheduler, it is already using an admin level account and should not be encountering permissions issues.
    So, swing and a miss.
    Thanks,
    Bill
    Additional testing revealed some strange behavior.
    When I run it the first time, it fails.
    When I run it immediately after the first failure, it fails.
    However if I wait about ten minutes, it completes without issue.

  • ORA-27369 Exit-Code: 255 when executing sql script as job

    Dear all
    I'd like to find and compile all invalid objects in an instance. This should be done every day as a scheduled job with the use of DBMS_SCHEDULER.
    For this, I set up the following sql-script:
    ---------start script--------------
    set heading off;
    set feedback off;
    set echo off;
    Set lines 999;
    Spool /tmp/run_invalid.sql
    select
    'ALTER ' || OBJECT_TYPE || ' ' ||
    OWNER || '.' || OBJECT_NAME || ' COMPILE;'
    from
    dba_objects
    where
    status = 'INVALID'
    spool off;
    set heading on;
    set feedback on;
    set echo on;
    @/tmp/run_invalid.sql
    exit
    ------ end script ----
    The script ist working well when executed manualy via sqlplus. As you can see, it spools the commands to a second file (run_invalid.sql) which is the beeing executed to compile the invalid objects found.
    I now want to schedule this script via DBMS_SCHEDULER (running the job every day at 7AM). Creation of the job:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (
    job_name => 'compile_invalid_objects',
    job_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    job_action => '/home/oracle/scripts/sql/compile_invalid_objects.sql',
    start_date => trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24,
    repeat_interval => 'trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'SQL-Script, und invalid objects zu finden und zu kompilieren'
    END;
    Manualy execute and error message:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.RUN_JOB (job_name => 'compile_invalid_objects',
    use_current_session => true);
    END;
    FEHLER in Zeile 1:
    ORA-27369: Job vom Typ EXECUTABLE nicht erfolgreich mit Exit-Code: 255
    ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_ISCHED", Zeile 150
    ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_SCHEDULER", Zeile 441
    ORA-06512: in Zeile 2
    --> Sorry for this, I'm using german localized oracle.
    Unfortunately, it seems that only Shell-Scripts can be scheduled when using job_type='EXECUTABLE'. Can you confirm this?
    BTW: The script is chmoded to 777, therefore it can't be a permission problem.
    Is there maybe another solution with one single script using dbms_output functionality and run the script in a loop?
    To complete my post, here are the commands used to create and test the job:
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (
    job_name => 'compile_invalid_objects',
    job_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    job_action => '/tmp/compile_invalid_objects.sql',
    start_date => trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24,
    repeat_interval => 'trunc(sysdate)+1+7/24',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'SQL-Script, und invalid objects zu finden und kompilieren'
    END;
    Thanks for your help
    Casi

    You could more simply use $ORACLE_HOME/dbms/admin/utlrp.sql

  • ORA-27369 Error when running Scheduler jobs

    We have an Oracle 11g Standard Edition (11.1.0.7) instance running on virtualized Oracle Enterprise Linux, hosted on VMWare. Every external job submitted via the Scheduler ends with the above error, although the jobs all run to completion - all steps are completed.
    All of the external jobs are executed by a specific shell script that dynamically queries a table in the database with all the steps/programs that need to be executed. This varies from job to job. The script receives several parameters that are used to extract the task information.
    If we run the same script from the OS, with the same parameters, the script runs to completion and no error is raised. We have tested this exhaustively and have never had the script raise any OS level errors.
    Even a simple external script (e.g. a one-line shell script with something like "sleep 10") returns the same error code. The alert log always shows the same error text for every job:
    ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 73527
    ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: No child processes
    In our company we have at least 3 other similar 11g SE/Enterprise Linux/VMWare installations, and ours is the only one with this issue. I have had an open SR with Oracle support since January 2010 on this problem, but that has been an endless cycle of questons, replys, information requests, and requests for more info. No progress whatsoever. Since the jobs run to completion, it is not preventing us from workign with the scheduler, but the end users have become a little complacent with the "Error" status attached to their jobs so if one really fails, it may get missed.
    The only difference we know of between our installation and the other similar installs is that we use Arcserve Agent for Linux to do (cold) backups to a remote Arcserve host. The other 3 sites use other backup software.
    What we have observed is the following:
    1. If we simply bounce the database, the problem persists.
    2. If we shut down and restart the virtual server OS, the problem persists.
    3. If we shut down the VMWare host server (and all the other VM's on that host!) and restart it, the problem persists.
    4. If we shut down the virtual server OS and make a significant change to the server (e.g. add a new virtual disk) and restart it, the scheduler runs fine and no error is reported. But only until the next backup cycle. Then the problem returns and is persistent until the next time we make a similar significant change in the host virtual machine.
    With no clear suggestions from Oracle Support, we are at our wit's end as to what we might be able to do to resolve this issue. There does appear to be a cause and effect link to Arcserve, but implementing a different backup solution is not an option at this time.
    I wanted to post this issue in the hope that someone may have a tip or suggestion that could lead to a solution.....

    I think it should be a better solution to create a package,
    and put your own TYPES and procedure into it.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PKG_XXX IS
    TYPE TYP_TAB_CHAR IS TABLE OF .... ;
    PROCEDURE P_XX ( Var1 IN VARCHAR2, var2 IN OUT TYP_TAB_CHAR );
    END ;
    Then in your Form :
    Declare
    var PKG_XXX.TYP_TAB_CHAR ;
    Begin
    PKG_XXX.P_XX( 'user_name', var ) ;
    End ;

    Regards
    John

    Hi,
    What Paul means is that you should not be using
    job_action=>
    '/<directory_of_script>/scp_file_to_dbs.sh v_file_name_pdf',
    Instead job_action should be the name of the shell script only. So you should have
    job_action=>
    '/<directory_of_script>/scp_file_to_dbs.sh',
    number_of_arguments=>1
    enabled=>false
    And then make a call to dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value (for each argument) and finally a call to dbms_scheduler.enable.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Make sure the script is set to be executable (chmod a+rx script.sh) and that /usr/bin/ksh exists and is executable.
    If it still doesn't work post the new error message and the output of "ls -l script.sh" and also your exact Oracle version. Also try running the shell script directly at the command line (e.g. ./script.sh).
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

    Are there any trace files created on the server?
    Did you see if they have any more information?
    Generally, these types of errors suggest contacting Oracle support to resolve the issue, but with the Oracle version you are using being already desupported, it would be an issue.
    Alternatively, you could search metalink to see if there is any support note on this type of error.

    Thanks Roger.
    I did add those in... DBA insists that didn't matter, since explicit "select" privs were granted to CRT_DEV to select CRT tables. He did say that a length check was required on the CLOBS before appedning them to the destination lob (tlob) to prevent NULL lob locators being appended and raising the exception.
    In any case, it works now... however, unsure if it's due to the schema prefix on the tables, or the lob length checks...

  • DBMS_SCHEDULER.RUN_JOB causes scheduled job not to run again

    Environment: 10.2.0.2 Linux 64-bit
    Hi,
    I have some DBMS_SCHEDULER chain jobs scheduled to run every hour which has been running fine with no issues for a while now.
    I needed to run a couple of jobs manually in-between scheduled times so I ran the job using DBMS_SCHEDULER.RUN_JOB, and that worked as expected as it has done in the past.
    This issue is that the jobs I ran manually haven't run at their scheduled time since I did that. The only way around it was to recreate the job completely.
    Any idea if this is normal functionality, or should I be raising this as a possible issue through Oracle Metalink?
    Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
    This is a known bug which is tracked internally by bug #5705385. It will be fixed in the next patchsets for 10.2 and 11.1 (i.e. 10.2.0.5 and 11.1.0.7) . If you urgently need a fix, an official patch seems to be available for 10.2.0.3 .
    There does seem to be a workaround - using run_job again after the first run_job has completed will not do anything but the chain job should again run on schedule.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

  • ORA-06502 - Error when running "Ask The Expert 0.9"

    Hi ,
    I successfully installed "Ask the Expert" package with Apex 3.0 on Oracle 10g Database 10.2.0.1.0. No error ocurred during the import in my Apex environment.
    Besides that, i'm having problems when i tried to run the "Aks the Expert". It always shows the following message errors:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    Error Unable to write activity log.
    I think it was a problem with APEX instalation, but i could run the Sample Application of Apex without any problem.
    I opened an SR in Metalink, but to my surprise, the analist of support don't know what's wrong with the demo "Ask de Expert".
    The debug function of the application show the following commands before the error ocurrs:

  • ORA-04062 error when running forms with different users

    ORA-04062 error when running forms with different users
    I have a form that has a block that should display some data from another users tables. (The other user's name is dynamic, it's selected from a list box)
    I wrote a stored procedure to get the data from other user's tables.
    When I compile the form and run it with the same user I compiled, it works without any error. But when I run the compiled form with another user I get the ORA-04062 (signature of procedure has been changed) error.
    I tried setting REMOTE_DEPENDENCIES_MODE to SIGNATURE in init.ora but it didn't help.
    My Forms version is 6i with Patch 15.
    Database version is 9.
    Here is my stored procedure:
    TYPE Scenario_Tab IS TABLE OF NUMBER(34) INDEX BY BINARY INTEGER;
    TYPE Open_Curs IS REF CURSOR;
    PROCEDURE Get_Scenarios(User_Name IN VARCHAR2, Scen_Table OUT Scenario_Tab) IS
    Curs Open_Curs;
    i NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    OPEN Curs FOR
    'SELECT Seq_No FROM '|| User_Name ||'.scenario';
    i := 1;
    LOOP
    FETCH Curs INTO Scen_Table(i);
    EXIT WHEN Curs%NOTFOUND;
    i := i + 1;
    END LOOP;
    END Get_Senarios;
    I would be happy to solve this problem. It's really important.
    Maybe somebody can tell me another way to do what I want to do. (getting a list of values from another users tables)

    I think it should be a better solution to create a package,
    and put your own TYPES and procedure into it.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE PKG_XXX IS
    TYPE TYP_TAB_CHAR IS TABLE OF .... ;
    PROCEDURE P_XX ( Var1 IN VARCHAR2, var2 IN OUT TYP_TAB_CHAR );
    END ;
    Then in your Form :
    Declare
    var PKG_XXX.TYP_TAB_CHAR ;
    Begin
    PKG_XXX.P_XX( 'user_name', var ) ;
    End ;
