Error in sending a binary outputstream to the browser

I am looking for information on sending a binary outputstream to a browser.I am not getting any error and am able to write out the entire buffer.Even though the browser recognizes the mime type,it only sends junk to the client.Please look at the code sample below that I am using to send the outputstream.
response.setContentType(MimeType);
String str_encoding = response.getCharacterEncoding();
System.out.println("================= The Character Encoding is --------------" + str_encoding);
int len = buf.length;
System.out.println("Data length ===========" + len);
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline;filename=" + "\"" + fileName + "\"");
OutputStream o = response.getOutputStream();
int buffer_length = 10 * 1034;
int offset = 0;
//read a thousand bytes from the buffer at a time
while ((offset <= buf.length) && (loop==true))
if ((buf.length - offset) < buffer_length)
buffer_length = buf.length - offset;
loop = false;
System.out.println("---------Now Inside the Loop, Writing Output Buffer ------" + offset + " bytes");
o.write(buf,offset,buffer_length);
o.flush();
offset = offset + buffer_length;
If anyone could tell me what needs to be done to successfully send a binary input stream from a Java application to a JSP page calling it and then successfully sending the outputstream for the client to be read,that would be fantastic.

yes,I did.That sends the data out as junk.The outputstream gets some sort of junk characters with the response.getOutputStream() method.So it errors out when I set the content length.
I tried sending the data as a whole,but does not seem to make a difference.I was grasping at straws when I tried to break it into chunks.

  • OATS: Error Message "Cannot get a connection from the Browser" on recording

    Hi,
    I am involved in the functional testing for Siebel 8.1 application, with the OATS 9.3 tool.
    On trying to record, an error Message *"Cannot get a connection from the Browser. Do you want to continue waiting for the browser to load?"* is displayed, even though InstallBrowserHelpers has been installed.
    I tried uninstalling the 'BrowserHelpers' and re-installing but the issue remains.
    Ur response on this will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi JB,
    I uninstalled the Plug-ins.
    To make it worse, I am unable to access Openscript now. :-(
    On trying to access Openscript, I am seeing the error "An error has occured. See the log file".

  • SharePoint 2013 web service: Error while sending claim based authentication request (The corresponding SID in the domain is not part of the intended account type)

    We are using .asmx services for SharePoint features such as comments, and rating.
    Service
    Feature   used
    http://<<hostname>>/_vti_bin/socialdataservice.asmx
    Commenting, Rating
    http://<<hostname>>/_vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx
    For out of box workflows
    In SharePoint 2013,
    SharePoint – 80  web application is on claims based mode and user is logging in with windows authentication. With logged-in client context used to call SharePoint's default web service, we are getting below error message from
    web service (Social data and user profile services).
    Server was unable to process request. ---> The corresponding SID in the domain is not part of the intended account type.
    When the service is accessed using console application with Visual Studio credentials (logged in user), we are able to access the service. Below is the code snippet
    using   (SocialDataService
    service = new
    SocialDataService())
                      service.Credentials =
    CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
    SocialCommentDetail detail =   service.AddComment("<<url>>",
      "Test Comment",
    null,
    null);
    Are SharePoint 2013 web services not supporting request coming with claim based authentication web application?
    Thanks, Pratik Agrawal (MAQ Software)

    While this applies to 2010, I believe the same is true with 2013:

  • How can I send an image directly from the browser as an attachment, not a link?

    I'm wondering if there's a way-- either via some kind of add-on or a direct FF customization-- to send an image as an attachment rather than as a link? either right-clicking an image and selecting "send image" or dragging an image into a "new message" window in outlook for example merely adds a link to the image and I'd rather that the image itself was added as an attachment. this functionality is available in IE as "email picture," which is extremely useful.
    thanks for any insight here.

    It was not mentioned what the client is. If it is a browser, the image can be sent using hml img tag. If it is using streams, then u need to set content type to image/gif or image/jpg ( depending the image u r sending) using response obj.
    response.setContentType("image/gif");
    Bye...

  • Is there no notification send to my applet when the browser window moves?

    Hi there,
    been perusing the forum for some time now but every time a similar question to mine was asked the answer I'm hoping for is lacking...
    The problem is simple: I have an applet that needs to detect when it has been moved. Currently I have a timer that polls the applets getLocationOnScreen() and compares it with it's previous location. It works, but mymymy is this ugly! Using all that valuable processor time for the odd chance that this happens.
    Is there really not some sort of event triggered that I can subscribe to (i.e. some sort of Listener interface that I do not know of?) that will just notify me when this has happened? I have tried adding a ComponentListener (only notifies of resizes), WindowListener, WindowFocusListener etc. to the JApplet class but to no avail.
    Can it be done or not?

    Currently I have a
    timer that polls the applets getLocationOnScreen() and
    compares it with it's previous location. It works, but
    mymymy is this ugly! Using all that valuable processor
    time for the odd chance that this happens.I don't see why this would use up so much processor time, as long as you don't do something silly like check for it constantly. If you check for it once every half-second it would probably be plenty fast for GUI purposes but not eat up much processor time at all.
    Is there really not some sort of event triggered that
    I can subscribe to (i.e. some sort of Listener
    interface that I do not know of?) that will just
    notify me when this has happened?You may be able to do this with javascript, and then use the javascript->java bridge. But reworking your code so it generates events by itself seems cleaner.

    Hi,
    Check in transaction SCOT. If your mail is in error status in SCOT, you can assure that there is no problem with your code. If your message has not reached till SCOT, then the problem will be with the code.
    If the mail is there in scot with error status tell the BASIS to configure it. I feel this could be the problem.

  • Error at sender JDBC communication channel

    Dear All,
    While executing JDBC(MS-Access)-PI-RFC interface, we are getting error in sender JDBC communication channel. The error is as following:
    Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=
    sappidev\Datatran\Database.mdb' using the JDBC driver 'jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Can not establish connection:: SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified'.
    I have checked various posts on forums and as per those no drivers installation is required to access MS-Access database and I am not able to find any post which could solve my problem.
    Kindly guide me on what might be the problem and how this can be resolved.
    Regards,
    NJ

    Hi Nishu,
      That error ALWAYS means your DSN name is incorrect or can't be accessed for some reason (permission). The ODBC part says that the bridge is working.
      But that DSN is 100% wrong or cannot be seen by the user account that the server is running as. Make sure you have a system DSN and not a user one.
    You can refer these....

    Hope this will help you....

    Hi,
    I have a few AS2 files in state "Error on send, will be retried" in the Seeburger AS2 monitor, which does not seem to be sent.

  • Winsock Error on Send

    Hi All,
    I am getting "winsock error on send " while trying to mount the server in console.
    Kindly suggest the cause.
    BR
    SK

    Hello SK
    If you use Windows server for SAP MDM Server installation you can install MDM Console to the same place.
    Install it and check your connection to MDS.
    If from server  MDM Console work fine and from another PC doesn't work (you get error message).
    Check your phisical connection to server(where MDS has installed) from your local PC.
    Check your locval and server firewall or antivirus software configuration - may be it's blocked some ports like:
    MDS
    Port 59950 and three sequential ports
    from the range 2000 - 9999 for every
    loaded repository (the repository ports
    are configurable using the MDM
    Console).
    MDIS
    Port 59750
    MDSS
    Port 59850
    MDLS
    Port 59650
    I think that is help you

    Hi Prabhu,
    please check the following:
    call transaction scot.
    In Scot you should get a tree that shows the communication configuration of your system which looks similar to (if not go via the Menu View --> Routing):
    SID(001)
    |------ FAX Telefax
    |----*  INT
         |---- *HP.COM                       SMTP   SMTP Mail Server
    |-----  X40 X.400
    |----- RML Remote Ma
    |----- PAG
    |----- PRT
    If the entry below smtp for *HP.COM is missing (or one where the pattern can match the email adress that is not delivered) you need to do the following:
    Go in the Menu via View --> System Status
    Check that the Node below INT (either SMGW, old way untill 4.6 using RFC-communication or SMTP new way since 610 using icm-plugin) is active (double click on it and check node is active checkbox). In the popup that comes after double click you can maintain the supported adress types, here use the button Set behind Internet and adjust the entries therein.
    If you have checked that you can do a routing test via Utilities --> Routing test.
    For more please check the online

    Hope that helps.

  • Is it possible to print a pdf file served to the browser?

    I have a servlet that will send a pdf file to the browser (IE), (i set the content type to "applicaction/pdf"). Now I need a way to create a print button to allow user that option, seems the browser print button is not satisfactory. Can a pdf be embedded in a web page somehow? Sounds like I would be dealing with 2 different reponse types "application/pdf" and "text/html"..I think the print button would call a method doing some extra things other than what the browser print button does. Is this possible? Thank you

    found an answer..thanks

  • Multipart/form-data using HTTPService, sending a binary file and some text in the same request.

    Hi There,
             I am new to FLEX and also new to writing a client for a web service.
    My question is more about flex (Flash builder 4.5) APIs, what APIs to use.
    I want to access a web service, that's published here.
    https://build.phonegap.com/docs/write_api
    here is the description of webservice
    ===========
    1) I have to do a post on POST https://build.phonegap.com/api/v1/apps
    2) content type has to be "multipart/form-data"
    3) JSON bodies of requests are expected to have the name 'data'
      data will be someting like this
    'data={"title":"API V1 App","package":"com.alunny.apiv1","version":"0.1.0","create_method":"file"}'
    4) include a zip file in the multipart body of your post, with the parameter name 'file'.
    ===========
    I want to make a 'multipart/form-data' Post and send
    one string and one zip file.
    My first question to self was If i send both string + binary data in the body ...
    how will server understand where string end and where zip file starts?
    Then read on W3.org( http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#h-17.13.4.2 )
    How is text + binary data can be sent through "multipart/form-data" post requst.
    there has to be some boundries.
    After this I read and example in flex and  tried following it.
    http://codeio.wordpress.com/2010/04/03/5-minutes-on-adobe-flex-mimic-file-upload-for-in-me mory-contents/
    but it doesn't seems to be working for me.

                                  var stream:FileStream = new FileStream();
                                  stream.open(appFile, FileMode.READ);
                                  var binaryData:ByteArray = new ByteArray();
                                  var fileData : String = new String();
                                  stream.readBytes(binaryData);
                                  stream.close();
                                  fileData = binaryData.readUTFBytes(binaryData.bytesAvailable); // I think this is where I have problem.... how do
                           //how do i converrt this bytearray/stream of data to string and send it in my post request's body - i guess if this step work rest should work..
                                  var params: String = new String();
                                  var content:String = "—————————" + boundary + "nr";
                                  content += 'Content-Disposition: form-data; name="data";' + '{"title":"ELS test app 2","package":"com.elsapp.captivate","version":"12.3.09","create_method":"file"}' + "nr";
                                  content += "—————————" + boundary + "nr";
                                  content += 'Content-Disposition: form-data; name="file";' + fileData  + "nr";
                                  content += "—————————–" + boundary + "–nr";
                                  service.request = content;
                                  service.send();

    In the past I have used URLVariables with URLRequest and URLLoader to achieve this kind of requirement.
    Check out http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=17_Networking_and_communications_3 .html which should be useful. My preference has always been to use this style instead of HTTPService objects, giving you a little more control which is what you need here.
    Let me know if you need any more assistance.

  • "An error occurred sending the command to the application" When trying to open excel document from outlook 2007

    Error message "An error occurred sending the command to the application" When trying to open excel document from outlook 2007.
    OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
    If I save the document then it opens fine, messing with default file associations does not resolve this problem, I've googled for ir it and some suggest unticking compatibility mode or "run as admin" for excel application, neither is selected in my case.
    Outlook is configured to run as remote application from remoteApp server, this error is only occurring for one user, for others excel documents open just fine.

    Hi
    Thank you for using
    Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
    From your description, we can Create a trusted location follow these steps
    Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options.
    Click Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click
    Trusted Locations.
    If you want to create a trusted location that is not local to your computer, select the Allow trusted locations on my network (not recommended) check
    box.
    Click Add new location.
     IMPORTANT   We recommended that you don't make your entire
    Documents or My Documents folder a trusted location. Doing so creates a larger target for a hacker to potentially exploit and increases your security risk. Create a subfolder within Documents or My Documents, and make only that folder a trusted location.
    In the Path box, type the name of the folder that you want to use as a trusted location, or click Browse to
    locate the folder.
    If you want to include subfolders as trusted locations, select the
    Subfolders of this location are also trusted check box.
    In the Description box, type what you want to describe the purpose of the trusted location.
    Click OK.
    More detailed information you can refer to this link:

    Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If anything is unclear or if there is anything
    I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope that helps.
