Error in XML Gateway Processing - java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

Hi All,
We have B2B Customizations for Processing Orders in our Applications .
While an Inbound Document(ORDERSTATUS Document) got processed in our Application, we could find the Document being errored out in XML gateway with the following errors:
(Note: Partners are on E2Open Gateway and we dont use Webmethods)
1) ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError- ECX_INBOUND_NEW.PROCESS_XML_DOC
2) ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - ecx_utils.INITIALIZE:
The Error has occured only twice (one in the month of May and the other in June) and its not replicable.
We verified all the Trending aspects (If the Issue is due to XML Document content, Specific to a particular Partner etc).
But we didnt find any clue about the occurence of this error.
Kindly provide your views on the occurence of the error.
Thanks in Advance,
Mangala.

Hi Mangala,
This error comes when JVM runs out of memory. Few cause may be -
1. You are trying to operate on a very large file (comparing to your system's primary memory)
2. You are trying to parse an xml, use SAX parser for best performance
3. Your JVM_OPTIONS value is not sufficient
You may consider increasing your JVM_OPTIONS value to some appropriate limit.
Are you working with Matthew Sullivan/Richard's team?

Anuj

  • Serious system error while executing the query: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

    From ALSB, we are trying to insert records in a table, by calling the ALDSP webservice. It is working fine when the xml (ie., given as input to the ALDSP webservice) is small. But facing the following error when the input xml size is large.
    <ALDSP> <BEA-000000> <Product> <Serious system error while executing the query:
    {ld:ABC/Test}createTest:1
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    We do not want to increase the heap size. Is there any other way we can solve this problem?

    In logical dataservice of ALDSP we have created a procedure called createTest, which is used to insert mulitple rows in the table. We have created a webservice for that logical DataService.
    Using the ALSB, we are calling the webservice -> createTest Operation and we are passing xml as input to that createTest function.
    Input xml:
    <ns1:createTest>
    <ns1:createTemps>
    <ns0:createTemp>
         <ns0:field1>1</ns0:field1>
              <ns0:field10>test1</ns0:field10>
    </ns0:createTemp>
    <ns0:createTemp>
         <ns0:field1>2</ns0:field1>
              <ns0:field10>test2</ns0:field10>
    </ns0:createTemp>
         </ns1:createTemps>
    </ns1:createTest>
    each ns0:createTemp represent a row that need to be inserted in the table.
    When the number of ns0:createTemp is less ( when the number of rows that need to be inserted is less) then no problem occurs, it is getting inserted properly. But when there are more number of ns0:createTemp then we are getting the following error
    <ALDSP> <BEA-000000> <Product> <Serious system error while executing the query:
    {ld:ABC/Test}createTest:1
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

  • Getting java.lang.outofmemoryerror: Java heap space error

    Well... what does the error message tell you is wrong?  You're running out of memory.  I presume you understand how computer memory works, if not specifically how Java memory allocation works.  So... you have x amount of memory, and you're trying to use >x amount of memory.  You can't do that.  There are two approaches to dealing with a problem like this:
    a) have more memory;
    b) use less memory.
    What are your JVM memory settings?  They're in jvm.config dir, which'll be - by default - in your Jrun4/bin dir for a multi-server install, or somewhere like ColdFusion/runtime/bin or something like that on a stand-alone install.
    Next... what are you loading into memory?  This is trickier to answer.  But every variable you create takes up memory.  People often load up the application or session scopes with stuff that's "convenient" to store in shared-scope memory, but really chew through it.  Putting CFC instances in the session scope is a really good way to waste memory, as they seem to have quite a large footprint.
    It's really impossible to say what's eating the memory based on what info you've given us (basically: none), but you can use things like FusionReactor to examine what's going into memory.  Or CF* Enterprise has some of its own memory profiling stuff... I've never used it but it might be of some use.
    Have you googled "coldfusion java.lang.outofmemory"?

  • Java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: getNewTla  in coherence production cluster!

    Hi guys, we need some urgent help, JVMs in our production coherence cluster would randomly stop due to the outofmemory error, and we cannot find out the root cause.
    1) Version 3.7.1.4, running 4x servers, each with 40x jvm, each jvm set to 2GB heap, for a total of 320GB cluster. Each server also has a extend proxy running with 3GB heap (no issue)
    2) The cluster is configured using WKA by explicitly listing out all the server nodes in the config.
    3) Our data storage is only ~30GB, details below.
    Stats for cache 'CACHE0':
    Number of cache entries: 14761116
    Memory usage (mb): 26722.643
    Average entry size (bytes): 1898
    Stats for cache 'CACHE1':
    Number of cache entries: 46047
    Memory usage (mb): 51.911
    Average entry size (bytes): 1182
    Stats for cache 'CACHE2':
    Number of cache entries: 4
    Memory usage (mb): 0.154
    Average entry size (bytes): 40448
    Stats for cache 'CACHE3':
    Number of cache entries: 69
    Memory usage (mb): 0.705
    Average entry size (bytes): 10707
    Grand total: 26775.413 MB, Number of entries: 14807237
    4) Random jvms storage nodes (not proxy) on each server would just go down with below errors, we cannot reproduce the issue, it just happens at random. Out of 40 jvms on each server about 3-5 went down over the weekend on, the issue happens on all 4 servers.

    5) Initially we thought it was because of a issue with the small default packet speaker size when joinining the nodes since we using WKA. But changing the config did not help:
    <coherence>
    <cluster-config>
    <packet-speaker>
    <volume-threshold>
    <minimum-packets>10000</minimum-packets>
    </volume-threshold>
    </packet-speaker>
    </cluster-config>
    </coherence>
    Out of ideas, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    i dont think the issue is with the code, i just noticed as soon as i start up all the cache servers, 1 went down already. And noone is accessing the system.
    this is extremely troublesome, i am loading the hprof file to look at the dump per suggestion above, not sure if it will help pinpoint the root cause though.

  • GetXMLString java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

    Hello,
    I am trying to get data from tables and save this information in XML files. I am using XML SQL utility into a Java program.
    The problem is that I have a big table with a LONG data type and when the program try to get the data it shows an error :
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
    I checked if the LONG data was the problem, I put a condition in the SQL instruction. The LONG data is saved in XML file. I think that the problem is the result of my query
    "select * from mytable"
    it is too big
    Somebody knows if I can use a CURSOR or something like that to save ALL the records.
    Any idea.
    Thanks.

    I'd recommend using the XML SQL Utility version 2.1.0 Beta's new support for producing a SAX2 event stream for a query.
    This will let your SAX2 ContentHandler incrementally handle each <ROW> element and it's children without incurring any memory overhead.

  • Java.lang.OutOfMemoryError-repeatedly

    Hello,
    I am observing a behaviour with an application we are maintaining.
    I am using JDK 1.4.0_01-b03 version on the system.
    We have several processes communicating between each other over RMI.
    After the processes have run for around 6 to 7 days two of the processes are giving an error in their log files
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError repeatedly.
    The processes are started on seperate JVM with maximum heap size set to 300 MB.
    Can you suggest how can I localise this problem and rectify it? What is the general cause for this problem?
    Thanking you in advance for your help.

    Or your application could just be 'leaking' memory. You just have too much references floating around that are never garbage collected. This can happen if you leave them in lists, collections, whatever when you no longer actually need them. Unless your app really needs all that ram and its need for ram gets bigger by the time..
    Some optimization/profiling tools are good for seeing what is eating up the memory. OptimizeIt comes to mind.

  • Embedded WLS and JDev 12.1.2: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space

    This problem happens after about 10-15 application restarts during development phase. I have read somewhere that this was a known bug in 11g versions of JDev and its integrated WLS (10.3.5 or 10.3.6?). I have then increased memory parameters in configuration file. The only thing I achieved is that this crash now occurs later then sooner. Still very frustrating. When this happens I have to restart WLS and sometimes kill frozen JDeveloper.
    Any other idea/workaround?

    Try these tips:
    http://www.eclipsezone.com/eclipse/forums/t61618.html
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/FAQ_How_do_I_increase_the_permgen_size_available_to_Eclipse%3F
    I'm not sure why you have --launcher.XXMaxPermSize so high. You might have to tweak your settings for less perm gen space and more heap.

    NoNick4Me,
    Thanks for the reply... I tried with the following settings on the eclipse.ini
    -showsplash
    org.eclipse.platform
    --launcher.XXMaxPermSize
    256M
    -framework
    plugins\org.eclipse.osgi_3.4.2.R34x_v20080826-1230.jar

    -Xmx512m
    -XX:PermSize=256m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
    -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
    and I cant see any diffferance of the result. I am still getting the same out of memory exception as mentioned above..
    Please let me know your thouhts....

  • Error java.lang.OutOfMemoryError using XML DOM parser

    Hi everyone,
    We are using Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows NT and trying to load XML into Oracle using the DOM API through PL/SQL. This is the method provided in the ORACLE_HOME\ora817\xdk\plsql\demo\domsample.sql which uses the XMLPARSER and XMLDOM PL/SQL packages.
    Now this works fine with small files (not sure about the exact file size). But for big files, it gives an error,
    ORA-29554: unhandled Java out of memory condition
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
    We have increased the JAVA_POOL_SIZE from the default 20MB to 50MB. Not sure whether increasing this value will solve our problem and whether it is advisable to increase it to a higher value. Can anyone help, please ???
    Thanks.

    Steve,
    Thanks for the response. Now we are getting different error. In one of the questions earlier posted, someone (I think Jon) noted that following error (the one we are getting) can be resolved by using JDK 1.1.8, is there any specific JDK pre-req for XML Parser 0.9.8.6?
    Is it possible, to enhance release notes for 0.9.8.6 to include
    a) Tips mentioned in your mail (i.e. putting oracle xml parser 2.0.x before Apache/OJSP xmlparserv2.jar
    b) Dependencies on specific version of JDK
    Once again thanks for the responding to the mail and will appreciate a help to resolve this current error.
    Thanks,
    Shree

  • XML Publisher report ends in Warning with java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

    Hi,
    We are modifying the standard report Account Analysis Report (in Subledger Accounting) to create a custom report.
    When run wide open, it is ending in Warning with the error java.lang.OutOfMemoryError in OPP Log.
    We are on EBS 12.1.3. DB 11.2.0.3 and XML Publisher 5.6.3
    We have set the below parameters in the data definition:
    Use XML Publishers XSLT processor: True
    Enable Scalable feature of XSLT processor: True
    Enable XSLT Runtime optimization: True
    Also we have added these to the Data template:
      <property name="db_fetch_size" value="20" />
      <property name="scalable_mode" value="on" />
    On the concurrent program, we have this option set:
    -ms1024m -mx2048m
    Still, the program is ending in Warning and not producing output. Any pointers here?
    We can also see that the Temporary Directory is not able to be set on the data definition. Why is this?
    After setting the Temporary Directory from Administration page, we were able to set the temporary directory for this data definition, but that did not solve the iseue.

    Glad you have sorted this - note that the fnd_concurrent_requests table has the fields pp_Start_date and pp_end_date which will show how long post processing is taking.
    Good to a good idea to monitor this in relation to the setting you have made in the profile option Concurrent:OPP Timeout profile option though 3 hours should cover most things!!!!
