I'm trying to apply security features to a web application in a .ear file. Following the J2EE tutorial I try to play with the Security tabbed pane in deploytool. Well, all the time I do get
Error obtaining the list of methods on MyService
java.lang.RuntimeException: my.package.MyService
The thing is, I could sucessfully deploy and use my web service ...
Maybe someone @sun.com could have a look at this stacktrace I got from deploytool (-verbose switch)

Hi Merten,
I'm not sure if the Security tab will add the basic
auth that you mentioned in your email. You might
have a look at the Login Config on the Endpoint tab
and see if that gives you what you want.

I tried this Login Config stuff, but it worked for me only in the servlet (JAX-RPC) world, not for my EJB web service. In the J2EE tutorial I found the steps described for servlet based web services (this security-contraints stuff), I could protect my HTTP POST method successfully. But for an EJB web service, what are the required steps to add HTTP Basic auth? It seems to be way different, is it supported in deploytool the same way as for servlets?
I'll send another copy of my .ear to you ([email protected]). Sorry, I know this is not an dt (deploytool) related issue, but perhaps you can help me anyway. :-) I think I did the right stuff in my deployment descriptors, but it's not working. And I saw a NPE in my server's log file (will send you the stack trace too).

I have created an account in Office 365 to try Power BI, and have set up the Power BI site so far.
Now i want to add few data sources, for which i guess i would need to do the following:
1) Create a gateway (i have done this)
2) Download and Install the gateway on my local machine (Installed on my 64bit windows 8.1 laptop)
3) Run Data Management Gateway configuration manager wizard to setup up the gateway.
At this step, when i enter the Gateway Key (copied from the Power BI Site), i am getting error "unable to obtain the anti-forgery token from Host Service".
Where should i head next?

Its working now. Thanks for the tips.
Few things that i learnt here:
1) You'll need to turn the firewalls off for the local system. (I am not sure if this is required, but i just did this and it started working for me).
2) When you are creating the gateway on Power BI site, you click on Create new gateway, and it shows you the security key. Previously i just copied and saved this key and click Finish at this step (which i guess should not be done). What we need to do is
to keep this screen ON, download and run the Gateway setup wizard and complete the setup, while keeping the page open in power BI site.
I am getting the Gateway up and running now.

2.In Request DT how the message structure wil be to get the list of materials from sap r/3 system as Response(Ex: Fields in the source structure).
3.Or the second thing is how to get the list of materials start with some alphabate.

I currently run OS X 10.10.1
Now i have been trying to work on this for a while now and what i want to do should be simple but its apparently not.
Here is an example of what i want to happen.
I will have 2 tabs: Contact | Sales
Now Contacts will have the list of names and various information about a customer, While Sales will have one drop-down box for each Cell Row that will show the names of the person in tab contacts
for what i am wanting to do i cant use the data format pop-up menu because the list is edited everyday several times a day.
Now how do i do this, Excel can do this so how can numbers do it?

1. In Ultiboard select Tools>>Netlist Editor>>Pins, press the Delete button
2. Select all nets in the Select the Net to Delete dialog and then press the Delete button. This will clear all nets in the layout, don't worry all traces, parts are still on the design.
3. Go to Multisim and select Transfer>>Forward annotate to Ultiboard. This will add all nets that you removed back and it should fix the pin problem

How can I prevent the MediaTracker waitForID method from blocking?

Hi everyone:
I am writing an application that deals with various image file formats with the help of the JIMI package (available at http://java.sun.com/products/jimi/). Everything works fine except for the Targa format. When I generate an Image object as follows (url is a valid URL object):

ImageIcon icon = new ImageIcon(image);the program execution blocks at the second line above. I searched the ImageIcon source code for some clues, which led me to the following ImageIcon method (tracker is a MediaTracker object, a static property of ImageIcon):

(1) When I perform a c.checkImage(image, null) where c is some Component, I always get a result of 7, which translates to the following combination of ImageObserver constants:
WIDTH | HEIGHT | PROPERTIESAs matter of fact, the dimensions are indeed determined correctly. However, when the loading process terminates, the checkImage result includes ALLBITS or FRAMEBITS in case of success, ABORT or ERROR in case of failure. None of these bits is ever turned on whenever I try to load a Targa image.
(2) When I get to the MediaTracker source code, I see that when none of the four bytes above is set, the internal MediaTracker status has the MediaTracker.LOADING bit turned on (nothing abnormal here). And the waitForID method terminates precisely only when this bit is turned off!
Logically, if the loading process fails for some reason, I should expect to get an error response so that I can go further in code execution. However, since the loading process never terminates, everything stays blocked at the waitForID method invocation.
Is there an efficient way to detect such a hidden loading error without letting my program go into the waitForID endless loop? In other words, going back to the first two lines of code of this message, how could I detect that an Image loading process will not terminate before calling the ImageIcon constructor?

I tried precisely your suggestion before posting my message to the forum yesterday. I just forgot to mention it... Maybe I was afraid of increasing my message length more and more...
I already know that this solution prevents the MediaTracker from blocking. However...
(1) If they reach a troublesome image (like a Targa), the users of my application might not be pleased by its freezing for 10 seconds. Actually, this image loading module is part of an architecture for database applications from which my development team and I produce applications for various customers. Images are used, in particular, in Oracle BLOB support.
(2) If I use a smaller timeout delay, I have no guarantee that any image, whatever its length, will load properly (Targa excluded, of course). According to tests I performed yesterday, I am virtually sure that the 10-second delay will be busted very easily by pictures larger than 1 Mb. I cannot overlook this potential problem: an Oracle BLOB can contain up to 2 terabytes of data!
On the other side, I don't want to focus too much the attention on the JIMI Targa import filter because I know that a revised version of the JIMI and JAI packages will be part of JDK 1.4. This is why I am trying to figure out what is happening in the MediaTracker and Toolkit classes, which are much more fundamental than the Jimi ones...

I debug my program and found that from ejbCreate()exception is getting.
I was getting the datasource object thro ejb create() initialisation.
Somehow the look up jndi which i mentioned was not interpretting from ejb-jar.xml ias-ejb-jar.xml and datasource ref .Due to this iam getting jndi Namenotfound exception which in turns to null pointer as datasource is getting null.
when i hardcoded in the ejb the the jndi name for datasource it is working fine.Bit worried all the existing ejbs working with the xml referenced datasource and jndi,but when i added a new ejb with same properties it is failing to get the jndi name.

How to obtain the pricing condition data from sales data?

Hi all! I have googled many times and read through many sites to understand how I can obtain the pricing condition data that's specific to a specific sales line. However, the answer I got usually are as follow:
Tables to be used:
KONV
KONH
KONP
VBRK
VBRP
And the thing is to obtain KNUMH data from VBRP and link it to KONP which will get the exact pricing condition data that's relating to the specific transaction.
However, my challenge is that the field KNUMH in either VBRP or VBAP, it is empty. Therefore, how can I have a report with my sales data as the primary file, and appending the pricing condition data so that I can analyze the different kinds of pricing condition types that the company is using. The only field that I can use is KNUMV which does not give me the pricing condition that was used in this particular invoice line.
I also know that there is the A*** tables, which contains the KNUMH file. However, this file is split into many different tables. Thus, is there a more efficient method to download all the data? In any case, I still do not know how to link to my sales data.
FYI, I only have SE16N and VK13's access.

Once u know the DS then you need to find out the source tables for the R/3 DS.This information will get using ROOSOURCE or ROOSFIELD tables or help.sap.com.
My suggestion better to search in Help site for DS source tables.

It worked fine when I give the type SQL Query. If I give the same thing in

I have a LOV defined in a page which lists the schema names. My report query should use the selected schema , i.e. say the LOV item is named P5_ENVID, and the table name is emp then my sql query should be of the form,

Obtaining the original JDBC exception from an EJBException?

I am using EJB3 on Glassfish using the default TopLink persistence manager. Within a Session Bean, when the persistence manager catches a DB exception, it marks the transaction to be rolled back, and throws an EJBException, in turn wrapping a RollbackException. Now I was expecting to be able to get the original jdbc exception out of the caused by exception of one of these exceptions, but it is not.
It is important that I do retrieve the original exception, as I need to report back to the users what the problem is, and to do this I need to analyse the SQL error codes.
Note that these are the DB exceptions caught by toplink during managed transactions (e.g. an EJB persist or merge), not exceptions thrown by our code.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get this information from Toplink?

It is odd that Glassfish would throw an exception on marking the transaction for rollback, and ignore the thrown error. You might wish to check with Glassfish on this. What version of TopLink are you using? A similar issue on WLS was fixed in EclipseLink, you may wish to try the latest EclipseLink release.
You could also call flush() in your SessionBean to obtain the real database exception.

How can I obtain the coefficients m, b from MAX scale?

I use CWAI ActiveX for acquire data. Also, I use MAX to set the virtual channels for CWAI. When I try to use scale option of MAX (for exemple y = 0.5x + 3 to transforn volts in my phisics values) I obtain true data from ScaledData (phisics values), but I can't obtain true data from (BinaryCodes x GetScaleMultiplyer) + GetScaleOffset. How can I obtain true value from binarycodes?

The GetScaleOffset & GetScaleMultiplier refer to the hardware factors used by the driver to transform the binary values produced by the ADC converter to actual Voltage values (not physical units of the Virtual Channel).
The documentation (NI-DAQ 6.9.3) for the ScaleMultiplier property mentions this:
"Returns the slope in the linear scaling formula for converting the binary codes of the analog-digital converter to voltages. The CWAI control multiplies the binary code by the ScaleMultiplier and adds the ScaleOffset to convert a binary code to a voltage.
(BinaryCode * ScaleMultiplier) + ScaleOffset = Voltage"
If the signal range was, for example +/- 5 V, the multiplier for a 12 bit board would be approximately 0.00244141 so that:
2047 * 0.002441
41 = 5V
NOTE: The 12 bit range (4096 words) is divided into +2047 / -2048
Unfortuantely there is not a function or method in the CWDAQ API to obtain or set parameters from the Custom Scales used by the Virtual Channels.
The reason for this is probably due to the fact that once Virtual Channels are created, most users would read in scaled values directly rather than reading binary values, getting the scale constants and applying the custom scale themselves. Since the user specifies the values for the custom scales anyway, the application could as well store the scaling constants as part of its configuration.
Still, it would be nice to have this functionality so I thank you for pointing this out. I will create a suggestion indicating the need for such functions.
The ways to achieve the results you desire are:
1) Use Virtual Channels and read scaled data
or
2) Use the ScaleMultiplier and ScaleConstants to transform binary values into actual voltage values. Once
you obtain the voltage values you can manually apply the same custom linear scale you had created through MAX.

What are the newest books available from Sun?

Hi, I was just wondering what are the newest editions of books that are available from this site specifically and the developers of Java.
I was looking at the shop from this site just, but all of the editions of books seem to be old compared to those that I have found on Amazon.
Specifically I was looking for books endorsed by Sun themselves, I think I saw two in particular which are:-
The Java Programming Language (Fourth Edition is latest I see) by Ken Arnold, James Gosling, and David Holmes
Effective Java, Programming Language Guide (Second Edition) by Joshua Bloch
Are there any other books like this which are written by the Java developers or listed as Effective Java was in the trails (and what are the newest versions)? Thanks.

What's the sudden requirement that the books be from Sun? I've found that books from O'Reilly and APress are often better than those from Sun. For beginners, the O'Reilly "Head First" series is one of the best and the easiest to read.
