ERROR on SELECT VIEW

Hi,
I created this view from schema TOM
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW V_USERS
USER_ID, USER_NAME
AS
SELECT USER_ID, USER_NAME
FROM LOG_TAB A, LOG_USERS B
WHERE A.USER_ID = B.USER_NAME (+);TOM is the owner of the table LOG_TAB
SAM is the owner of the table LOG_USERS
From TOM, if I run the query:
SELECT USER_ID, USER_NAME
FROM LOG_W_BU A, AFM_USERS B
WHERE A.USER_ID = B.USER_NAME (+);The query answered correctly.
If I run:
select *
from V_USERS;I get this error:
ORA-01031: insufficient privilegesHave someone any idea?

you are using different table name from your view V_USERS and your plain query. on your view V_USERS you are using LOG_TAB and LOG_USERS. on the other hand you are using LOG_W_BU and AFM_USERS on your plain query. find out if you can do a simple select on SAM.LOG_USERS table, if you can add the schema name SAM to the LOG_USER table in your view and recompile them again.
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW V_USERS (USER_ID, USER_NAME) AS
SELECT USER_ID, USER_NAME
  FROM LOG_TAB A, SAM.LOG_USERS B
WHERE A.USER_ID = B.USER_NAME (+);if you can't do a simple select on SAM.LOG_USERS table, try to login as SAM and grant SELECT privilege to TOM.
  grant SELECT on SAM.LOG_USERS to TOM;note: it always a good practice to include the schema name if the object is not a synonym.

    Hi Frank thanks for responding,
    I actually figured it out. I thinkt he problem was that the VO didnt not have a primary key to reference a specific row and was throwing an error. I used ROWID and it works fine now.
    Thank you.

  • Error while selecting entity

    Hi
    I keep getting the "JBO-26080: Error while selecting entity for Units" error. Below is the query in my View Object. If I remove the Units(Enitty) from the query it works fine but I need to have that in the query. This error occurs only when I do "Reset" on the screen which in turn calls "getSearchProgramView().getCurrentRow().refresh(Row.REFRESH_WITH_DB_FORGET_CHANGES);"
    Can some one explain how to get rid of this problem? When I run the query in TOAD it works fine.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    for those who have encountered the same problem as me, you should check that the table name sql query is of the form Name_Schema.Name_Table.
    For this right click on the entity in the workspace> edit entity> Database Objects> Schema Objects and add the schema name before table name( Name_Schema.Name_Table).
    thanks,

  • Oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26080: Error while selecting entity for

    I have an error like this:
    oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26080: Error while selecting entity for ....
    It happened because my application was updating a few attributes in a ViewObject, And there was a message that showed:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00904: "EI_PPN": invalid identifier.
    My entity object for the view object above has the EI_PPN attribute, and so as well as the table in the database. Why it keeps showing that EI_PPN is an invalid identifier?

    Is the column name also uppercase EI_PPN?

  • BFileSample:  Error while selecting BFILE Locator java.sql.SQLException: ORA-22288:

    Hello, i have compiled and executed the BFileSample java standalone successfully. I am wondering how to use this in a production environment where there may be hundreds of image files stored categorically over a period of years? is it possible to use the BFILE_TABLE in conjunction w/ other tables e.g. use the BFILE_TABLE as fk to some table to query the oracle instance for select image files based on say some category: time, location and other relations? i have tried select * on BFILE_TABLE but i get the following errors:
    SQL> select BFILE_COLUMN from BFILE_TABLE;
    SP2-0678: Column or attribute type can not be displayed by SQL*Plus
    Is the BFILE_TABLE usefull in anyway outside of the current implementation? thanx, david.

    Hi David,
    BFILE's are also called external LOB's, since data is stored in OS files outside the database and use reference semantics.
    Apart from conventional secondary storage devices such as hard disks, BFILEs may also be located on tertiary block storage devices such as CD-ROMs, PhotoCDs and DVDs.
    A table having BFILE column can be used like any other table, you can reference any column and have fk relationships. The only disadvantage of BFILE's is that backup doesn't happen automatically (since reference is only stored), the OS has to take care of backups of BFILE data.
    LOB's(BLOB, CLOB, BFILE) cannot be viewed in SQL Plus using selects, you can either get length or any associated attributes of these datatypes.
    example:
    select dbms_lob.getlength( BFILE_COLUMN) from bfile_table;
    I would suggest BFILE when you don't want to stress your tablespace(CLOB and BLOB sit on tablespace) and also when data need not be replicated .i.e if you copy a BFILE record, data is not copied, only the reference is copied(both reference will point to same file), but in case of CLOB and BLOB complete data is duplicated.
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/appdev.920/a96591/adl12bfl.htm#99013
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks so much in advance for any help

    Hello,
    Temp tablespace size depends how much sort by , order by operation your application performing. You can create new temp tablespace and drop old one with bigger file size
    CREATE  TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP02 TEMPFILE '\mypath_to_temp\TEMP02' SIZE 256M REUSE AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 256M MAXSIZE 8192M EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;
    ALTER DATABASE DEFAULT TEMPORARY TABLESPACE TEMP02;
    Drop tablespace temp including contents; -- Make sure you delete on temp data files.Here is link for your reading purpose

    I would first check the "query" information of the DBA_SNAPSHOTS/DBA_MVIEWS dictionary views if it reveals anything obvious.
    But it looks more like an internal error while processing the refresh. You can get more information about the error by tracing the session. A "alter session set sql_trace = true;" before running the refresh should be sufficient. Disconnect afterwards and check the generated trace file for errors either using "tkprof" and checking the output or by manually searching for "err=" in the trace file.
    Which 4-digit version of Oracle are you using?

    Here is the structure for the type (with 16 fileds)
    create or replace type t_oms_audit as object(
    Username_ VARCHAR2(101),

    In my Java code I have:
    // conn is the connections to db
    oracle.sql.StructDescriptor structDesc = oracle.sql.StructDescriptor.createDescriptor("TAB_OMS_AUDIT", conn);
    Object[] attributes = new Object[16];
    // Fill out the array: attributes[] in the same structure that t_oms_audit is defined

    anOracleCallableStatement.setObject(1, struct, java.sql.Types.STRUCT);
    anOracleCallableStatement.execute();I searched for the above error and the only thing I could find was that its a permission issue; I can execute select, update, insert, delete, ... on db, so not sure if its in fact a permission issue or I am doing sth. else wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi all
    I have the same problem.
    it's not a GRANT problem because in PL/SQL the object works fine.
    JDBC Release problem?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Query Rewrite is an option for a Materialized View, not a Materialized View Log. Also, query rewrite is used as an optimization technique which "transforms a SQL statement expressed in terms of tables or views into a statement accessing one or more materialized views that are defined on the detail tables". I don't think it plays any role in the refresh path.
    Regardless, it made no difference.
    SQL> create materialized view mv_test_tbl
      2  refresh fast on commit
      3  ENABLE QUERY REWRITE

  • Error in materialized view refresh path

    I have a procedure that manuall refreshes a materialized view. It almost always gets the following errors:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-12008: error in materialized view refresh path
    ORA-08103: object no longer exists
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SNAPSHOT", line 2255
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SNAPSHOT", line 2461
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SNAPSHOT", line 2430
    ORA-06512: at "MGT2.ITV_026_SP", line 35
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    When I run the same refresh of the materialized view directly from SQL*Plus, it never gets the error. It takes only about 5 minutes. OEM says the undo tablespace can support retention of 753 minutes if I'm understanding the graph.
    Thanks for your help..

    I will take a wild guess:
    MGT2.VW_PRINT_026
    Is a materialized view too.
    This error means that while doing a refresh to VW_MAT_026 it
    source mv, the VW_PRINT_026 wasn't exists, i.e. has been in the refresh process.
    You didn't get it in Sql*Plus because you are doing it step by step.
    The solution - make sure that VW_PRINT_026 completed it refresh before doing
    The VW_MAT_026 refresh, e.g.
    not tested-
    begin
    dbms_snapshot.refresh('VW_PRINT_026');
    dbms_snapshot.refresh('VW_MAT_026');
    end;Another option - the VW_PRINT_026 is a table created "on the fly"
    And in some scenario - the table isn't exists yet...
    If this is the case you should check if the object exist before doing the
    VW_MAT_026 refresh, e.g.
    not tested-
    declare
    ll_exists number;
    begin
    select 1 into ll_exists from all_objects where owner ='MGT2' and
    object_name ='VW_PRINT_026';
    dbms_snapshot.refresh('VW_MAT_026');
    when others then raise;
    end;Amiel

  • Selecting  views in object browser crashes IE browser

    in HTMLDB v2 navigate as follows:
    SQL Workshop > Object Browser
    in the select list (which defaults to Tables) select Views. This crashes the browser!!
    Have installed the MS script debugger and this pops up the message:
    A Runtime error has occured. Do you wish to debug?
    Line: 50
    Error: Object Required
    The problem occurs for all options in the select list which do not have any objects of that type created in the schema. (ie if no views are created then it will crash. If you then create a view this option works fine)

    Hi
    I have the exact same symptoms as described in this thread.
    I thought I had found the solution, but I use the HTTP Server that is included with Oracle RDBMS version 9.2. This config doesn't have any marvel.conf file. But I think this is the same as httpd.conf in my configuration (?). I had the AddType rows in there but they did not have any dots before "xbl" and "htc". So I changed the rows to:
    AddType text/xml .xbl
    AddType text/x-component .htc
    ... and restarted the HTTP Server but I still get the runtime error as you describe it.
    Any ideas of what to do?
    regards // Frederic

    Hi!
    There are further ICF nodes and services to be activated to use the view editor.
    If this is a test/development system simply activate all nodes and services under node sap.
    1. enter transaction code SICF and select services
    2. right click top node and choose deactivate service -> all services and nodes will be deactivated
    3. again right click the same node and choose activate service
    4. IMPORTANT: in the upcoming popup choose "yes, all" (the button in the middle) and not just yes (the left button)
    5. problems in view editor should be history for you
    hope this helps.
