Error updating my ipad 2 to ios 5
when upgrading my ipad 2 to ios 5 i get an error that says: "this device is not eligible for the required build". it occurs when itunes try to contact the apple server to verify the update. can anyone help please?
I spoke to Apple Tech Support. They were very helpfull and resolved the problem. First I was told to put into airplane mode for 15 seconds then go back to problem. That didnt help but apparently this solves lots of network type faults. Next I was told to reset the network that also didn't work. Finally then i was told to Hold both buttons until the screen goes black, when the Apple symbol returns release buttons. When the pad rebooted this cured the problem and i was able to tether again.
It seems you try this first on any faults it will often resolve problems. I've added this in hope that it will help others with any type of fault.

I wish to update my ipad 2 from ios 4.3.3 to ios 7, i follow all the steps and until the end, when i want to restore back, it occurs error 3004. How? and now i can't even use my ipad at all, it's empty.

Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers. -

Check your HOSTS file and make sure you are not blocking gs.apple.com.
Try to launch https://gs.apple.com: It should open the Apple site, and not be redirected to the Cydia server.
if this redirected to cydia server then
copy hosts file from this path
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
paste on desktop. open this in notepad.
add this line in the last .
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
in some case this line is there without " #" sign. if this line is there then u simply put" # " at the start of this line
save this and copy this file and past into this path.

close and then start the restore process.

Trying to update my iPad 2 to iOS 5 but it keeps failing.
I have been trying to update my iPad 2 to iOS 5 but it keeps coming up with "The iPad could not be restored. An unknow error occurred (-1)". I've been trying since Thursday but still no joy. I've tried doing it through two different PCs as well. My iPad just tells me that it needs to connect to iTunes. I updated my iPhone software with out any issues.
I went into my local iStore but they wanted £12.00 just to restore it. I was advised that they would do it for free in an Apple Store so I'm guessing that I'll have to pop into one in London during the week.
Is anyone else having these problems / been able to resolve it?Are you trying to update via wifi or connected to your computer?

Will I loose the saved e-mail accounts when I update my iPad 2 to iOS 5?

I have an iPad 2 with iOS 4.3.2 and I have 5 mail accounts stored and I don't know their passwords. I just wanted to ask that if I update my iPad 2 to iOS 5, will I loose those?There is no real reason why you should lose the email settings when you update the iOS. I have 4 email accounts and I lost nothing at all - settings, data, apps - nothing. I did not have to enter my passwords again either.
There is no guarantee that the experience will be error free for you - but iTunes will backup your iPad prior to the update and all of your settings are in that backup - including email settings. You can always restore from the backup if you lose the accounts - in theory anyway.
I deleted a problematic email account a few months ago and then was unable to add back on to the iPad. After trying for a couple of hours with continued failure, I decide to restore from my backup and everything was restored and in working order.
One note - I restored from the backup prior to any furhther backups of the device. In other words - you would have to restore from the backup before you create another backup. -

Bring up the document you want to email, and tap the wrench in the upper right-hand corner. Under that Tools icon you will see several options, select Share and Print.
Select Email Document
Then select the document format you wish to send the document in: Pages, PDF, or Word
Tap on one, and the document will format into that selection, and then take you to a blank email page with the document attached and ready to go!

App store should operate normally again when you open it. -
