Error using DB Tools Insert Data.vi

Hi
I am trying to insert data into a Paradox database and I am getting the following error:
"Error -2147467259 occurred at Conn Execute.vi->DB Tools Create Table.vi->DB Tools Create Table If Not Exist.vi->DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Header Infromation 20061019 two inserts.vi
Possible Reasons: Exception occured in Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: [Microsoft][ODBC Paradox Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ''. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. in Conn Execute.vi->DB Tools Create Table.vi->DB Tools Create Table If Not Exist.vi->DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Header Infromation 20061019 two inserts.vi"
Right now the vi is set up to create a table if one does not exist.
Any Suggestions on this .

Hello Shani,
Have you had a chance to look over the other questions Crystal asked above? Those answers will help us to better help you. I also found the following discussion forum - I know they are using a different database, but I think you can tweak the solution so it works for you too.
Have a fantastic Wednesday!

• Use Spry to insert data into a database?

I'm new to Spry, so I have a question:
Can I use Spry to insert data into a MySQL database without
reloading the site?
Reading data from XML file works fine, but I don't know if
writing is possible..

I don't get it... I tried this:

dabei
nicht dabei

But the data isn't inserted into the mysql database. When I
start the php script directly, it works, so I think it's not a php
problem.

• What kind of variant is used for "DB insert data.vi"

How can a variant from "fetch All.vi" be converted into a variant ok for "DB insert data.vi"?
In the attached files I try to doublicate a record in a database. Does anybody know how to make it run?

Umi,
From the 2D array of variants you obtain from the fetch all.vi, you need to extract each value, knowing each variant datatypes and build a cluster of data or variant to use in DB insert data.See VI attached.

• Using variables to insert data in the table

I want to insert datas in the table. I use constants,
all the constants are stored properly in the table. But,
when I use variables I get the error message

(I declared all the fields of the table as text only.)

Your datas have been stored.

Those who know answer please reply.
My thanks in advance.

I would expect your insert statement to be this:
statement1.executeUpdate("insert into cust1 (cno,n,add1,add2,phone,email) values('"+cno1+"','"+n1+"','"+add11+"','"+add21+"','"+phone1+"','"+email1+"')");
If you just create a string, it's not going to fill in variables into the string by magic.

• Error while trying to insert data on a database through a mediator

I have build a simple project on 11g TP$, which consists of a mediator, a file adapter, that reads an xml file and a DB adapter that inserts data on a database.
The mediator connects the file adapter to the DB adapter and through a routing rule it inserts data on a table of the database.
When I try to run this project the input file is consumed by the file adapter, but after that I get the following error

I have checked the .xsd file and my xml several times and it seems that they are correct. Moreover, the .xsl file is also correct.
Does anyone have any idea of what may produce this problem?
Thanks

I was finally able to get my project working. Heidi - You were right, there was a problem with the XSL generated by the XSL map editor.
I am trying to locate if this issue has already been reported, but I am highlighting it here, in case someone else faces the same.
The XSL generated was as follows:

The Xpath included the "imp1:" tag to reference the namespace. I tested this XSL and it didn't work. However, on removing the namespace "imp1:" from the Xpath, the XSL works fine and I am able to insert into the database. "No suitable driver" still appears in the log, but all rows from the XML are inserted into the database.
Heidi - do you think this is a bug?

The documentation says that vector class implements a growable array of objects, and I've seen some examples using vector such as from http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=238597 .
I would like to know, in my case, do i need to set my column and row to use vector? or should i only set rows to use vector ? (since the row size will vary, while the column size will stick to 6).

Because your JTable operation will be done on a table model, the selection of the initial data
structure for the model is almost non-issue. In other words, whatever will do.
See the javadoc for the DefaultTableModel class, which you will eventually use, especially the
construcotr part.

• Error using XML_ETL_UTILS to extract data.

I'm using XML_ETL_UTILS in order to extract data to a file.
I followed exactly the demonstration steps but my mapping doesn't compile.
The problem seems to be related to a naming convention.
The generated code contains a reference to a table alias which is not defined by the Expert.
The wrong code I get is

SELECT 1 INTO owb_temp_variable1
FROM
(SELECT
"DUMP_XML"."COLUMN_VALUE" COLUMN_VALUE
FROM
TABLE ( SAVE_XML_TO_FILE (
CURSOR (
SELECT
XMLElement("ED_FRO_BOLLE_H",
XMLAttributes(
T0.NOTE_H as "NOTE_H",
T0.DATA_SPEDIZIONE as "DATA_SPEDIZIONE",
T0.DATA_BOLLA as "DATA_BOLLA",
T0.PUNTO_CONSEGNA as "PUNTO_CONSEGNA",
T0.CLIENTE as "CLIENTE",
T0.NUMERO_BOLLA as "NUMERO_BOLLA",
T0.SOCIETA as "SOCIETA",
T0.UNICO_ID as "UNICO_ID" ) ,
(select XMLAgg(XMLElement("ED_FRO_BOLLE_D",
XMLAttributes(
T1.UNICO_ID as "UNICO_ID",

T1.NUMERO_ORDINE as "NUMERO_ORDINE",
T1.RIGA as "RIGA",
T1.NUMERO_BOLLA as "NUMERO_BOLLA",
T1.SOCIETA as "SOCIETA",
T1.BOLLE_ID as "BOLLE_ID" ) ) ) FROM ED_FRO_BOLLE_D T1 WHERE T1.BOLLE_ID = T0.UNICO_ID)
)/* CREATE_XML.OUTGRP1.XML */ "XML",
"M_FI_BOLLE"."FILE_NAME" "FILE_NAME$1",
"M_FI_BOLLE"."DIRECTORY" "DIRECTORY$1"
FROM
"ED_FRO_BOLLE_H" "ED_FRO_BOLLE_H"
))) "DUMP_XML"

does anyone know how I can eliminate that error ?
Does anyone ever run in that problem ?
Tks
Tullio

Hi Tullio
es you will have to regenerate the pluggable mappings (rerun the expert). and you can either rebuild your map or synchronize the pluggable mapping operator in the map.
The error crept in when I introduced the 'create root node' option in the expert, this path worked, just the original did not ..sorry:) The fix should resolve your problem and I will get a full update uploaded.
Thanks
David

• Error using an XML as data provider for either datagrid or linechart

Hi,
I am developing an application using Flex and Java servlets.
Upon user
event, I load the data using the servlet and store the data
in a
Dictionary. I am running into couple of issues from here
a. If I try to use the XML object in the dictionary as the
data provider
for either Datagrid or Linechart I am unable to view the
data. I did a
trace on the object and it has the correct data.
b. Also, I am unable to access the content of child elements
when using
a parent element as the data provider.
ex. parent. child1. child2 does not work, it works when I
provide child2
as the dataprovider directly.
Please let me know what might be the root causes and
resolutions.
Thanks in advance,
Nataraj

I did not find a solution to the problem and created a list
of the child objects and used that as the source instead of the top
level XML object. This worked.

I'm new to Web Services so I'm just guessing, but perhaps you need to add -classpath lib/foo.jar;lib/bar.jar to specify where your class-files are.

• Inserting data to a . SDF database (SQL Server Compact Edition connection)

Hi, all.
I'm working on a project that worked fine while connecting to SQL Server 2008. I used a connection string like this:
Driver={SQL Server Native Client 10.0};Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;Uid=myUsername;Pwd=myPassword;
Now, I've replaced all database connections in my project to work with SQL Server Compact Edition, and my connection string is something like this:
Provider=Microsoft.SQLSERVER.CE.OLEDB.3.5;Data Source=myDir\myDataBase.sdf;
After changing the type of connection, I'm getting an error on "DB Tools Insert Data.vi". This is what I get:
Error -2147217872 occurred at NI_Database_API.lvlib:Cmd Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib: DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Main.vi
Possible reason(s):ADO Error: 0x80040E30 Exception occured in Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider: The given type name was unrecognized. [,,,,,] in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Rec Create - Command.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib:Cmd Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib: DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Main.vi
This is a simplified block diagram (as I said, it worked perfectly while using SQL Server 2008 connection):
Could you please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Francisco

Hi, Steve. Thanks for your answers.
I worked around this problem by using directly a SQL query instead of this function (you were right, using DBTools Execute Query VI). But now I'm getting problems with other functions, when inserting data into the DB including NULL values.
I make a SQL query like this using DBTools Execute Query VI:
INSERT INTO Table1 (Column1, Column2, Column3, Column4, Column5, Column6) VALUES ('Value1', 'Value2', 'Value3', 'NULL', 'Value5', 'Value6')
and get the following error:
ADO Error: 0x80040E07Exception occured in Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider: A literal value in the command could not be converted to the correct type due to a reason other than data overflow. [,,,,,] in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Conn Execute.vi->INSERT (new) restricción (DBCT).vi->Restricciones a Base de Datos (DBCT).vi->Definir - editar restricciones.vi->Main.vi
The same SQL query worked perfectly when using the SQL Server 2008 connection, so it's not a database structure issue.
Could somebody please help me?

Francisco

• Insert data into msql thru table trigger

Hi,
I installed dg4msql 11.2 and I would like to insert some data into our msql thru one of our Oracle table after insert table,
I used the syntax below
insert into test@dg4msql ("PN") values (:new.PN)
but the below error problem if I insert data into my Oracle table,
ORA-02054: transaction 4.17.15898 in-doubt
ORA-028500, connect from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message
[Oracle][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Invalid object name "RECOVER.HS_TRANSACTION_LOG
Do I have to create the HS_TRANSACTION_LOG table in my msql server to resolve this problem?
Thanks
Vincent

Vincent,
If the gateway insert is being done as part of a trigger then it will almost certainly be part of a distributed transaction so yes, you will have to create the transaction log table and the recovery user in the SQL*Server database.
As well as the gateway documentation have a look at this note in My Oracle Support -
Note.227011.1 How to Setup DG4MSQL to Use Distributed Transactions (Doc ID 227011.1)

Like I said, it all comes down to the data model. It is almost always possible to build a data model that allows you to change the behavior of the system by modifying data rather than by issuing DDL, but as with any data modelling question, the devil is invariably in the details.
Without understanding the entities you are trying to model, the sort of flexibility you are trying to build in, the trade-offs (performance, code complexity, etc.) you are willing to make, there is no way to provide a step-by-step solution. It may require a small change to the data model, it may involve significant changes to the data model, it may involve retrofitting small amounts of code, it may involve recoding large modules.

• Need Help In Inserting Data

Hello Everybody
I have to insert data through excel sheets containing over 2,00,000 lakh records
I am using toad to insert data but the issue with toad is that it supports excel 97-2003 format and I have to divide the excel sheets again and again to insert the data
I can also use the pl/sql developer to insert the data but I don't know the process, plz suggest some gud ways to do that
Thanks & Regards
Peeyush Sharma

Hi,
Use the below script for control file:
load data
infile 'C:\Documents and Settings\abcd\Desktop\dat1.csv'
into table empz
fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"'
(emp_id,emp_name,emp_sal)
{code}
there is a difference between .txt and csv loading. as we are using csv(comma seperated values)
fields terminated by : {code} fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"' should be comma ( ,) .

• Can following query be used to find inserted update records.

hi,
i am using query1) to insert data query2) to update the record
query1)
INSERT INTO [t1]
( id
,createddatetime
,updateddatetime)
VALUES
(1
,GETDATE()
,GETDATE())
query2)
update t1 set updatedatetime=getdate() where id=@t1
please tel me will two date cols get same time , that is, will i be able to
write following to find inserted/updated rows
if exists(select * from t1 where createddt1=updateddt2)
begin
select 'inserted'
end
else
begin
select 'updated'
end
yours sincerely

Depending on how you execute both the queries there's a small chance date value comparison may not wok as expected as datetime also has timepart until milliseconds precision. So if you want to retrieve details on records inserted and updated you may use
something like below
query 1
DECLARE @dt datetime
SET @dt = GETDATE()
INSERT INTO [t1]
( id
,createddatetime
,updateddatetime)
VALUES
(1
,@dt
,@dt)
query2
DECLARE @dt datetime
SET @dt = GETDATE()
update t1 set updatedatetime=@dt where id=@t1
then you can do below to get inserted updated detailsif exists(select * from t1 where createddt1=updateddt2)begin select 'inserted'end elsebegin select 'updated'end
