Error when loading a flat file

Hello,
I am trying to load a flat file into our BW for the first time.  I keep getting the error:
Error 1 when loading external data
Message no. RSAR234
I have search SDN and looked at the OSS notes and have tried several suggestions, but I still cannot get the file to load.  We are currently on version 3.5.
My transfer structure and flat file do match.
My transfer structure for IO_MAT_ATTR has a transfer method of PSA and is laid out as follows:
IO_MAT                      Material Number          IO_MAT
IO_MATNM     Material Name          IO_MATNM
IO_MAT is: CHAR 15
IO_MATNM is: CHAR 30
My flat file is saved as a CSV and is as follows:
MATONE,TEA
MATTWO,COFFEE
My file is saved on my local PC and is not open when I try to load it.  When I attempt to preview the file in my infopackage, I get the same error there as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Charla

Hi Charla,
Error 1 means that the system is unable to access the file. Make sure that the path is correct and also check if the data separator is correctly defined in the "external tab" of the infopackage.
I guess the settings in the "external tab" of the infopackage have some issues.
Bye
Dinesh

  • Error while loading CSV Flat file

    Hi,
I am getting the following errors while loading a flat file into the DataSource:
    1. Error 'Unit CS is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 1, value CS)
    2. Error 'The argument '9,018.00' cannot be interpreted as anumber' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSA record 1 value 9,018.00
What can I do to correct this?
    Thanks

I am taking the following (Headers) fields in this order in a CSV file :
    0LOGSYS     ,0MATERIAL,0UNIT,0BASE_UOM,0COMP_CODE,0PLANT,0FISCPER,0FISCVARNT,
    0CURRENCY,0PRICE_TYPE,ZTVSAKF,ZVOTVSKF,0PRICE_CTRL,ZPRICE_STKF,0PRICE_BASE,
    0VAL_CLASS,0CURTYPE,0VALUATION
I have added all these fields in the DataSource as well. T-Code CUNIT has CS as a Unit.
I deleted and recreated the DataSource and am getting this error now:
Error 'Unit CS is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 1, value CS)
Error 'The argument '1,398.00' cannot be interpreted asa number' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSAKF record 1 value 1,398.00

Error 'Unit 0 is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field BASE_UOM record 1, value )
Error 'Unit CS is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 1, value CS)
Error 'The argument '5,50.00' cannot be interpreted as anumber' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSAKF record 1 value 5,50.00
Does it matter what order the columns are in?

  • Error while loading from Flat file

    Hi,
I'm trying to load master data from a flat file. After loading I get the following message even though I have used PSA as staging area. I see that data is present in the master data table (Text) without any errors though. Kindly help.
Error when updating Idocs in Business Information Warehouse
    Diagnosis
Errors have been reported in Business Information Warehouse during IDoc update:
    EDI: Partner profile not available
    System response
There are IDocs with incorrect status.
    Procedure
Check the IDocs in Business Information Warehouse . You can get here using the BW Monitor.
    Removing errors:
How you remove the errors depends on the error message you receive.

Check your flat file format and field separator. Is it .txt or .csv file?
Go to "Source systems" in "Modeling" chose your source system for flat files and perform check.
Maybe problem is with your source system...
This might also be due to logical names of the systems not being maintained. Also has anyone doen a flat file upload before this on the system and what is the version ?

  • Error when exporting to flat file in ODI 11g

This works ok in ODI 10g. I'm using IKM SQL to File Append on Windows Server 2008 R2
Getting the following error when exporting to a flat file in ODI 11g: ODI-40406: Bytes are too big for array
I've seen a couple of threads like this on the forum, but I've never seen an answer to the problem.

Problem is with the difference in behaviour for the IKM SQL to File Append KM between 10g and 11g.
Our 10g target file datastore had a mixture of fixed string and numeric columns. Mapping from the source to target was simple one to one column mapping. It generated the desired fixed format flat file; numerics were right adjusted with embedded decimal point and leading spaces. Each numeric column in the generated flat file occupied the exact space allocated to it in the layout. This gave the desired results, even though documentation for the 10g IKM states that all columns in the target must be string.
When we converted to 11g and tried to run this interface, it generated an error on the "numeric" columns because it was wrapping them in quotation marks. The result column was being treated as string, and it was larger than the defined target once it acquired those quotation marks.
In order to get 11g to work, I had to change all the numeric columns in the target data store to fixedstring 30. I then had to change the mapping for these numeric columns to convert them to right adjusted character strings (i.e. RIGHT(SPACE(30) + RTRIM(MyNumericColumn),30).
    Now it works.

    Hiwa,
Please note that the code usesClass.getResource().
This 'small change' is not necessary for a simple
resource stored in a subdirectory.Actually, if you dont add the '/' prefix, then the package name will the
prepended. i.e it would search for the image file under abc.xyz. images
package, where abc.xyz is the package name for the current class.
    Javadoc for Class.getStream..
    public URL getResource(String name)
Finds a resource with a given name. This method returns null if no resource with this name is found. The rules for searching resources associated with a given class are implemented by the * defining class loader of the class.
This method delegates the call to its class loader, after making these changes to the resource name: if the resource name starts with "/", it is unchanged; otherwise, the package name is prepended to the resource name after converting "." to "/". If this object was loaded by the bootstrap loader, the call is delegated to ClassLoader.getSystemResource.

  • Error when loading flat files

I am able to load a flat file to PSA but get problems when trying to load.  These files have been loaded to an old BW system from which the InfoObjects were copied and designed on the new system:  Thanks
    Diagnosis
The value '0,000 ' from field /BIC/KFMI_CCHF cannot be converted into
the DDIC data type DEC of the InfoObject in data record 1 . The field
content could not be transferred into the communication structure
        format.
    System response
The data to be loaded has a data error or field /BIC/KFMI_CCHF of the
transfer structure is mapped to an unsuitable InfoObject.
The conversion of the transfer structure into the communication
structure was cancelled. The processing of data records with errors was
continued with respect to the settings in the error handling of the
        InfoPackage (Tab Page: Update Parameters).
    Procedure
Check the data conformity of your data source in the source system.
On the 'InfoObject - Field Assignment' tab page in the transfer rules,
check the InfoObject-field assignment of transfer structure field
        /BIC/KFMI_CCHF .
If the data was temporarily saved in the PSA, you can also check the
received data for consistency in the PSA. If the data is available and
is correct in the source system and in the PSA, you have the option of
activating the debugging in the transfer rules by using the update
simulation on the tab page Detail   in the monitor. By doing this, you
can execute an error analysis in the transfer rules. For this you need
        ABAP knowldege.

If it is coming from another system/app, it could be that you don't need to change anything (assuming the file does contain data in DEC format).
In this case, open the datafile in a hex editor, and check the content of this field (based on field position in your transfer structure, for the first row) in a hex editor. Every half-byte of this field should give you a digit (except the last) if the format is correct. eg you should see something like 000032560C if you check the field.
It will be good to match the transfer structure alignment, it could be that the field is not in the position it was in the older system (check transfer structure tab in the infosource definition).

  • Errors when trying to load a flat file

When I try and load a flat file (I have also manually created a test .csv file with one record) I am able to load to PSA, but when I try and load to the Object I get the following error message (below), how can I fix this? Thanks
    The test record is:
    1460;MAMO;UK - Banbury;MAMO;Other;FCJ
    Diagnosis
Data record 1 & with the key '1460MAMO &' is invalid in value 'Other &'
        of the attribute/characteristic WINVCAT &.
    System response
The system has recognized that the value mentioned above is invalid, and
has processed this general error message. A subsequent message may give
you more information on the error. This message refers to the same
value, even though it does not state this explicitly.
    Procedure
If this message appears during a data load, maintain the attribute in
the PSA maintenance screens. If this message appears in the master data
maintenance screens, leave the transaction and call it again. This allows you to maintain your master data.

    Hi
GO to Transaction RSKC and check whether & available or not,if it is not there please enter & value and execute.
and also go to the psa and change record(delete the gap before & and save and reload it...
    Thanks

  • Loading of flat file (csv) into PSA – no data loaded

    Hi BW-gurus,
We have an issue regarding loading a flat file (csv) into PSA using an infopackage u2013 (BI 7.0)
The infopackage has been used for a while. Prior the consultants with SAP_ALL-profile have run the infopackage. Now we want a few super users to run the infopackage.
We have created a role for the super users, including authorization objects:
    Data Warehousing objects: S_RS_ADMWB
    Activity: 03, 16, 23, 63, 66
Data Warehousing Workbench obj: INFOAREA, INFOOBJECT, INFOPACKAG, MONITOR, SOURCESYS, WORKBENCH
Data Warehousing Workbench u2013 datasource (version > BW 3.x): S_RS_DS
    Activity: All
    Datasource: All
    Subobject for New DataSource: All
    Sourcesystem: FILE
Data Warehousing Workbench u2013 infosource (flex update): S_RS_ISOUR
    Activity: Display, Maintain, Request
    Application Component: All
    InfoSource: All
    InfoSource Subobject: All values
As mentioned, the infopackage in question, has been used by consultants with SAP_ALL-profile for some time, and been working just fine.  When the super users with the new role are executing the infopackage, the records are found, but not loaded into PSA. The load seems to be stuck, but no error message occurs. The file we are trying to load contains only 15 records.

    Hi,
Try to use the transaction ST01 to trace the authorization of the upload with the SAP_ALL.
And the enhance your Profile for the super user.

  • Difference b/w Loading a Flat File made from EXCEL and NOTEPAD

    Hi
Is there any difference in Loading a flat file made from MS-Excel and Note Pad. Imean performance or errors etc....
    GSR

    S R G,
Theres no much difference only that when loading from excel we store excel in CSV format.  In notepad we use seperators like comma aand write one row at a time, then next....
    Rest everything is same...
thats y it is preferable to load from excel as it is easier to represent and create...
