Error while backup -- Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000)] Error 3202

Hi,
I am not able to take my sql backup due to the following error.
This error is comming after one hour form starting the backup
Could you suggest me why my sql is throwing this error and how to resolve?
[Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000)] Error 3202: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Write on 'G:\DEV_1.BAK' failed, status = 33. See the SQL Server error log for more details.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
Regards,
Gayathry.

As far as i can see this is usually and error that shows up when you have some sort of I/O, media or hardware failure.
I'll recommend you to check this before resuming

Juan

  • Lack of TCP keepalive parameter in Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver for Linux

    Hello,
    the problem in the
aforementioned driver is the lack of TCP keepalive parameter that results in hanged threads because of closed connections on the SQL Server side, but not closed
sockets on the client side. This could happen due to network-related problems.
The driver is used in mission critical 24/7 uptime application and due to hanged threads the application cannot continue it's work and it needs to be restarted.
This is observed in the latest version of the driver on RHEL 5.6.
If you need clarification please ask.
Does anybody know any workaround to this situation or a solution that I'm not aware of?
    Thank you for your help,
    luk.s

Find the TCP socket of the ODBC connection in your process and set the keep-alive option and keep-alive timeout on it.
You can do that by interposing socket system call.
    Or use libkeepalive: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/html_single/TCP-Keepalive-HOWTO/#libkeepalive

    Hi Aimen,
Following solution might be helpful in resolving the issue.
SQL statement is case sensitive in Business Objects.
    Follow these steps:
Test the connection in your universe and click Details.
From Details, copy and run the path for the PRM file used by your connection which will open the relevant PRM file in Notepad.
Modify the following parameter (or add to the PRM file if it does not exist) as follows:
    <Parameter Name="CASE_SENSITIVE">N</Parameter>
    Save the PRM file.
    Close and relaunch Designer.

  • MS SQL Server ODBC Connection On Linux

    Hi All,
I am badly stuck with configuration of MS SQL Server ODBC connection on SUSE Linux 10. I am almost tried everything I got from SAP notes but still getting ODBC Lib Data Direct drivers could not be loaded IES 10901.
ENV: SAP BO 4.0 SP7, MS SQL SRV 2008
Here is what I have tried so far:
    1) Modified env.sh under /install_dir/sap_bobj/setup and added the line in bold.
    ":${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib:${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/$SOFTWAREPATH32/odbc/lib"
The line should look like this
    LIBRARYPATH="$LIBDIR:$LIBDIR32:$WCSCOMPONENTDIR:$PLUGINDIST/auth/secEnterprise:${CRPEPATH64}:${CRPEPATH}:${MWHOME}:$PLUGINDIST/desktop/CrystalEnterprise.Report:
    ${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/$SOFTWAREPATH32/ras:${BOBJEDIR}mysql/lib:${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib:${BOBJEDIR}enterprise_xi40/$SOFTWAREPATH32/odbc/lib”
    2) We have .odbc.ini file in the home directory of our BO user on linux. Added following DSN entry (Same DSN is created on client and odbc connection has been created on the universe using this DSN:
    boeadm01:~> vi .odbc.ini
    [DSN_NAME]
    Driver=/opt/sapboe/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib/CRsqls24.so
Description=DataDirect 6.0 SQL Server Native Wire Protocol
    HostName=SQL Server Hostname
    Database=SQL DB Name
    QuotedId=Yes
    AnsiNPW=No
    3) We then added the environment variables and LIBPATH in BO user .profile file.
    boeadm01:~> vi .profile
    #Sql Server Environment
    ODBCINI=$HOME/.odbc.ini
    export ODBCINI
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/sapboe/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    4) Did echo to check the LIBPATH
    boeadm01:~> echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    /opt/sapboe/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/linux_x64/odbc/lib
    5) Modified sqlsrv.sbo under /install_dir/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/dataAccess/connectionServer/odbc
      <Parameter Name="Use DataDirect OEM Driver" Platform="Unix">Yes</Parameter>
    6) Restarted BO node.
Tried creating a new webi report and got the error mentioned above.
    Please help!!!

The bcp program executes successfully on a local instance of SQL Server.

The error has nothing to do with BCP as such, but it is a connection problem. That is, for some reason you cannot connect to your instance from the VM. I would exect that you face a similar problem if you tried SSMS.
It could be a firewall issue, but prelogin suggests that you reach the instance. But possibly you don't come far enough for the login failure to be recorded. Possibly the instance is not configured to audit login failures.
The message you would see would be similar to

Possibly followed by a a line that details the message. The error number may be different.

So don't understand why I am getting this error.
I have also activated the nquery.log but that doesn't really give me any further information.

    Regards,

    Hi Rajagopal,
Thanks for your reply after doing some further investigations this morning I found and corrected the problem...
The DataDirect Driver does not like double quotes in the query for some reason, testing  using the BI Answers generated SQL with the nqcmd tool below...
With double quotes “” it fails immediately
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
    select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
[102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'Id'.
    Statement execute failed
With double quotes removed for just the columns I now get the Error near ‘ETMS_Users’ which still had the double quotes
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    [102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'ETMS_Users'.
    Statement execute failed
With all double quotes removed it works !
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    c1           c2

The solution to fix the problem is...
In the BI Admin Tool Physical Layer Database, Properties Features tab is to delete the double quote in the Value column for IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR, setting this in the DBFeatures.INI file does not resolve the problem possibly it did in earlier versions of the product.

  • ODBC functions SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return error:"DIAG [22001] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]String data, right truncation (0) "

    Problem Description:
ODBC functions SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return error:”DIAG [22001] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]String data, right
truncation (0) “. When we enable tracing in the ODBC administrator, in the SQL.log we see that values for the arguments: ColumnSize, BufferLength, and StrLen_or_IndPtr of ODBC function SQLBindParameter are not being displayed.
    Environment Used:
OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition.
Complier: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1 for x64.
    Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2008
MDAC: Microsoft Data Access Components SDK 2.8
Note: This problem is seen only in our 64bit application. However, in 32bit
SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return successfully.
As we could not find the values of 6th, 9th and 10th arguments(ColumnSize,
    BufferLength, and StrLen_or_IndPtr) passed to
SQLBindParameter in the ODBC traces for 64bit, we are not sure whether the values for the above mentioned arguments are received correctly by SQLBindParameter or not. This information would help us to debug further. So, could you please let us know why
    these values are not displayed.

    Hi Nalsr,
    From my research, I found:
    "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]String
data right truncation" error may be returned from a call to
SQLBindParameter if the size of the string parameter being used is greater than the size of the column being compared to. In other words if the
string size of the <expression> to the left of the <comparison_operator> is less than the
string size of the <expression> to the
right, ODBC may return this error.
The resolution is to make the string size of the <expression> to the
right of the <comparison_operator> less than or equal to the
string size of the <expression> on the left.
It is difficult to track down this type of problem when third party development applications are being used. ODBC Trace can be used to help determine if this problem is occuring.
Here is an example where the customer has submitted a query "select count(*) from type1 where type1 = ?", type1 is varchar(5) and the
data type being passed by the application is char[9].
Here is the relevant portion of the trace. The following information from the "exit" of SQLDescribeParam
    SWORD * 0x0095e898 (12)
    UDWORD * 0x0095e880 (5)
Maps to the following with the actual value in parenthesis - SQL_VARCHAR Size 5:
    SQLSMALLINT *DataTypePtr
    SQLUINTEGER *ParameterSizePtr
The "exit" value from SQLBindParameter provides the following
    information:
    SWORD 1 <SQL_PARAM_INPUT>
    SWORD 1 <SQL_C_CHAR>
SQL Data Type SWORD 12 <SQL_VARCHAR>
    Parameter Size UDWORD 5
    SWORD 0
    Value PTR 0x0181c188
    Value Buffer Size SDWORD 5
    String Length SDWORD * 0x0181c103 (9)
The string length parameter is the length of the
string being bound to the parameter, in this instance there is a size mismatch which results in the SQLError and the SQLErrorW with the message "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server
    Driver]String data
    right truncation" .
    Hope this could be helpful.
    Best regards,
    Halin Huang

    Many thanks

    Hi Foreverduy,
Before you run SQL Server 2008 express setup, make sure that you have installed Windows installer 4.5 and.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 manually. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=sql.100).aspx. Moreover, please turn off all the third-party softwares which could prohibit the installation process.
According to your error message, the issue could be due to that your account has no rights to install SQL Server, or the corruption on the media.
Firstly, please ensure that your account has admin rights. Also make sure that you right-click the setup.exe and choose “Run as administrator” to complete the installation.
Secondly, please check if "msdbdata.mdf" file exists at d:\8268cd7b247d294de359c9\x86\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_msi\PFiles\SqlServr\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Binn\Template. If it exists, please make sure that your account has read permission to the extracted
    folder.
However, if the file doesn't exist in the extraction, the media could be corrupt. Please download the
    media
again and check if the issue still occurs.

    Michelle Li
