Error while connectiong Configtool

Hi Frndz,
Am facing a new problem i.e when am starting the configtool am getting an error like
Error occured while working with Configuration(Scanning)
Msg:Error while connecting to DB
In MMC also am not able see the any nodes under J2EE Process Table .Kindly tell me how to resolve this.

Hi Rajesh,
First check all default traces:
1) If there is any error that password is incorrect. Then Change the password of user SAP<schema>DB user in secure storage of configtool.
Also, As you are not able to connect to configtool, then do one thing when you are starting configtool and it giving option connect to database by default then press No. Then change password and restart system.
2) If there is error in default trace that account is locked (ora-28000) then change password from oracle by using command
ALTER USER <username> ACCOUNT UNLOCK
alter user <username> identified by <password>
Then update it in secure storage as described in step 1 and restart the database.

As well as the info Stratos asked you you also likely need to install all patches for CR.
Easiest way is to uninstall your current version, make sure you have your keycode written down.
Download and install Service Pack 3 full version:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
Next is to also verify the Oracle \bin folder is in the PATH statement. I recall some previous versions of Oracle 10.2 did not update the PATH statement. CR still requires it to be there. 10.2 is the minimum CR works with.

After updating to firefox 7.0.1, I get the error "Sync encountered an error while connectiong: Incorrect account name or password. Please try again."

This was working just fine until the update. I did the reset password. It says it is reset, but when I exit firefox and restart, I get the same error. I've put in the new password and get the same error. This almost looks like my account was deleted from the sync server, but when i do the reset password, everything says it is ok. But Firefox keeps giving me this error.

Workspace- Database Connection Manager error while connectiong to HFM

We are on 9.3.1.using only FR and WA. I am using admin id to login to the workspace. Open Tools -> Database Connection Manager -> New-> Properties Box opens and input all the info. right and can see the appropriate HFM application. But when i click ok to add the connection i get the following error Message " *+8001: The Database Connection could not be found: a7ad1bb_11d06b21811_-7e73*+"

Hi,
Yes i was able to solve it. Actually what happened was i remember registering Reporting and Analysis using the same database reusing the same old repository. And after that this issue came up.
So i took the back up of repository database and also luckily still on testing environment and had not much to loose. So i reconfigured the relational database dropping all the databases. It resolved the issue.
But why it happened and the real cause is not know even Oracle support was unable to answer this.

When i give a request for deployment it asks for the SDM password. I enter a valid SDM pwd. If i enter a invalid SDM pwd i get some other exception. So the pwd SDM entered by me is correct.

Hi Nilesh,
Try opening Visual Admin if your not able to login with username(administrator) and password. Problem with NWD2004s do the following steps.
C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC01\j2ee\configtool->configtool.bat->open it
1. Click on Secure store
2. Right you will find :
admin/password/J2E->retype your admin passowrd which you gave during installation=>SAVE properly
Restart the server and try login visual admin
Deploy now...Other wise see this thread same error solved:

Error when starting configtool.

The installation is successful. But I am getting the following error when starting configtool:
PerfTimes : loadNativeLayer: loading jperflib failed. no jperflib in java.library.path
com.sap.engine.frame.core.configuration.ConfigurationException: Error while conn
ecting to DB.
This is not during the installation as given in some of the other posts. The installation is successful and I am able to start and run the J2EE engine and the Portal. This error occurs when I try to start the config tool.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Arul,
Have you checked the parameters that the configtool is using to connect? (don't use default settings)
What database is this on? In the case that it is oracle can you TNS ping the db? The listener is running?

Actually i have just resetted my sdm password a week before. the sdm was uptil now working fine.but suddenly its showing error as given above
I have reffered sap note 701654. its says to change administrator password...here the pt. is shall i change the sdm password in secure storage .

this occurs when the password saved in secure store is incorrect.
Setting the administrator password at configtool should be enough.Nothing else need to be changed.

I am trying to configure Planning and getting the following error message at instance configuration step:
"Error while retreiving xml file from database"
We looked at PlanningSystemDB.properties, changes server name to its ip, reinstalled planning, made sure both auth methods are selected (sql server and windows), created new relational repository.. still the same error.

After spending 2+ hrs with Hyperion Support nothing got resolved.. Just to give more background on this problem, we originally reconfigured all Hyperion components to use different SQL server, that is when the problem started happening as soon as we got to Planning Instance Configuration. Could this be the situations when old server name is still somewhere in the system?.. Could this be Shared Services problem.

You'r JDK is really old, AFAIK the first one officially released for x86_64 on Windows was 1.4.2_17. I suggest you upgrade your JDK ot the latest one (1.4.2_30) and try again.

SDM Error while deploying from IDE

Hi I am getting an error while deploying from IDE.
-- Server XXX did not accept login request as admin on port 50018.Details: ERROR: Could not establish connection to server XXX at port 50018: XXX
This problem has been discussed herein SDN earlier.I also checked in the SDM trouble shooting guide and accordingly have added a entry in the host file under sys32/drivers, but still I continue to get that error.Any pointers will be appreciated.

Have you ever been able to deploy into SDM. What is the password that you type. Try typing SDM and see. If that doesnt work then you will have to change the password of your SDM. Your password either has been corrupted or changed
Anyway follow these steps
1. Start the Config Tool.
(Execute <SAPj2eeEngine_install_dir> \configtool\configtool.bat.)
1. Select the secure store node.
The configuration for the secure storage in the file system appears.
1. Select the admin/password/<SID> entry.
2. Enter the administrator user's new password in the "Value" field and choose "Add".
3. Choose "File" --> "Apply" to save the data.
Note: Contrary to the message that appears, you do not need to restart the server or cluster for this change to take effect.
4. Finally restart SDM server.

Error while performing Risk Analysis at user level for a cross system user

Dear All,
I am getting the below error, while performing the risk analysis at user level for a cross system (Oracle) user.
The error is as follows:
"ResourceException in method ConnectionFactoryImpl.getConnection(): com.sap.engine.services.connector.exceptions.BaseResourceException: Cannot get connection for 120 seconds. Possible reasons: 1) Connections are cached within SystemThread(can be any server service or any code invoked within SystemThread in the SAP J2EE Engine), 2) The pool size of adapter "SAPJ2EDB" is not enough according to the current load of the system or 3) The specified time to wait for connection is not enough according to the pool size and current load of the system. In case 1) the solution is to check for cached connections using the Connector Service list-conns command, in case 2) to increase the size of the pool and in case 3) to increase the time to wait for connection property. In case of application thread, there is an automatic mechanism which detects unclosed connections and unfinished transactions.RC:1

Essbase 11.1.2.1 configuration error " Error while initializing registry."

Here I am wondering that I have installed and configure successfully in dev environment with the same DB privileges and folder permissions,as well same character set details and the same install files every thing is same as dev environment, but the same approach is failing in prod environment.

Hi John,
We are using the different schemas(ESHSRVC for dev and ESHSRVC4 for prod)and different user ids as well in the db server( devdwdb.newcorp.com:1531:DEVDW)
where the DEVDW is the sid for both schemas.
Here the HSS tables created in ESHSRVC and working fine for dev.
but in the new installation and config with the ESHSRVC4 schema the config is failing and throwing the error msg..
I am sure the new installation is not pointing to the old HSS populated schema(ESHSRVC) and I have given the connection details of ESHSRVC4(new schema) while config the shared services for new one.
I cross checked the both schema's have the same privileges and character sets.
but in the new config with new schema is unable to create the registry and throwing error.
I have uninstalled and deleted the entire folder and created new schema's and started the new install and config still getting same error.

Error while installing EP 6.0 SP2

I'm facing the following error while installing EP6.0 SP2.
Setup:
1.Windows XP SP2 with 1 GB of RAM
2.Database software has been installed
3.Standalone Java Central Instance & Dailaog Instance on the same host
4.Portal Schema has been installed.
All the above steps has been completed successfully ,but error received while installing the Portal Platform.
