Error while installing "instantclient-sqlplus-linux32-11.2.0.1.zip" linux
I have a linux box where i just need the oracle client/sqlplus to connect to database. So I downloaded "instantclient-sqlplus-linux32-11.2.0.1.zip" and unzipped it in a directory.It has the following files
-r--r--r-- 1 root deploy 342 Aug 13 21:15 glogin.sql
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root deploy 1501651 Aug 13 21:15 libsqlplusic.so
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root deploy 6909 Aug 13 21:15 sqlplus
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root deploy 441 Aug 13 21:15 SQLPLUS_README
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root deploy 1218075 Aug 13 21:15 libsqlplus.so
So when I try "sqlplus" I get /sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libsqlplus.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have set the ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the directory where I have these files. What am I missing? Is there anything else I need to install ?

OS Package Error while installing SOA 11.1.1.5.0 on Oracle Linux
Hi,
I am trying to install SOA Suite 11.1.1.5.0 on Linux Environment.
While doing the prerequisite checks, I am getting some errors wrt operating system packages and kernel parameters.
The queries I have is:
1) If these packages are not installed, will it have some adverse effect on my installation?
2) Also, how from where can I download these packages and how do I install them?
OS Version is: Oracle Linux 5 Update 7
The log for the prerequisite checks is pasted below:

VarunHi Avi,
Thanks for your reply.
I was able to install the packages, not eactly the same way as u told but I downloaded them from http://public-yum.oracle.com/ and installed them manually. Was also able to change parameters.
And Bingo, there was no pre-requisite failures while installing SOA.
One of the probs that I'm facing now is that when I try to access the WLS Console of SOA after creating domain, I'm able to open it on the local machine using IP and localhost. But it doesn't work the same way when I use hostname. It gives an error saying No Route to the Host. Also I'm not able to access WLS Console from any other machine using IP address of the machine.
Any inputs that can be of any help.
Cheers,
Varun -

Error while installing oracle 9i(9.2.0.1.0) on Red Hat Linux 8
hi
friends,
i'm getting error while installing Oracle 9i(9.2.0.1.0). this eror was came when linking process was going on. Error is as follow.
"Error in invoking target install of make file"
/home/oracle/product/9.2.0/plsql/lib/ins_plsql.mk"
/home/oracle/product/9.2.0/precomp/lib/ins_precomp.mk"
/home/oracle/product/9.2.0/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk"
/home/oracle/product/9.2.0/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk"
pls. help me what to do?
DharmeshSee this :
I saw this error only in connection with Oracle 9i (9.0.1) installation.
Edit the file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and change the following line (people have sent me emails pointing out that this also works for Mandrake 8.1 and Mandrake 8.2):
LD_SELF_CONTAINED="-z defs"
to read:
LD_SELF_CONTAINED=""
Then run the script $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh as the user "oracle" and not as the user "root". Also make sure you have all the Oracle environments set! (I got so many emails because people were not doing this)
$ su - oracle
$ $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh
Created /opt/oracle/product/9.0.1/lib/libclntst9.a
$
After that hit retry in the error popup. This always worked for me.
(I was told that this also works for SuSE 8.0.)
Here is Oracle's official solution for Oracle 9iR1 or 9iR1 iAS on RedHat 2.1 Advanced Server:

Error while installing OWB
after 50% install.. it says
"Error in writing to file c:\oracle\ora9201\bin\oci.dll
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"
Apparently I have restarted the workstation and closed all oracle related services in services and no other program is running expect the installer.
Can any one help in resolving the issue. Or can I hit the ignore button and continue installing?Always install OWB into a new ORACLE_HOME unless the Installation and Configuration Guide states otherwise. This has only happened twice. OWB 9.0.2.62.3 was the last version to allow installation into an existing ORACLE_HOME. Another thing you can do is go to www.sysinternals.com and download the utility LISTDLLs. It is great. From a command prompt, start it with the syntax: listdlls >log.txt
This will output the DLLs in use and which executable is using it. Search for the DLL in the log.txt and scroll up until the double line. The executable name locking the DLL will be above the double line. If you have the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator Service running on the client, it will lock Oracle DLLs. This has been a common issue in the past, going back to the days of Data Mart Suite. This was documented in the Release Notes for it and may still be in the system in a note somewhere. It is in: DMS: Unable To Install; Filesopen/Service Running On Compaq Server Doc ID: Note:1080977.6 and Certain Files which need to be Reinstalled are Being Used Doc ID: Note:117672.1
The first note I wrote back before 2000.

Error while installing SQL Server 2012 X64 SP2,
When I installed the SQL Server 2012 X64 SP1, I got the attached error.
What might be the issue here?
Thank you
Best
JamalHello,
Are you trying to install SQL Server on a compressed or encrypted drive? SQL Server won’t install on a drive/folder with these attributes.
Are you trying to install SQL Server on a ReFS file system? It is not supported on SQL Server 2012.
Disable any security/antivirus software and download the media again. Mount the media (.ISO file) and try to install again.
Hope this helps.

I have also confirmed the passwords in ABAP system/000 for SAPJSF, DDIC, J2EE_ADMIN, J2EE_GUEST.

Thanks and Regards,
SrinivasAnanda,
you saved my day! I've been banging my head against the wall with this same problem during a J2EE add-in installation for SRM 4.0 on Windows, in preparation of an LAC 2.0 installation. I had tried deleting the schema first, but that didn't work. After I removed the sys\global\security folder as well, it worked perfectly.
Thank you.
