Error while participant.assignToGroup

Question

When obpm executes this
myparticipant.assignToGroup(groupId : "WS_Group");
it give me this error
*Object [fuego.directory.DirHumanParticipant:WS_ABC] already exists in the directory. InternalId [OBPMDir.fuego_participant-fuego_in].*
The error really puzzled me a lot. Why it complains the participant already exists when I am trying to assign one group to it?
Here is my code (desc is a parameter passed in)

If I removed the last try/catch block, everything works fine. What is wrong?

Ok, I know how to regenerate the error.
create a participant
delete the participant (as I know, it is not physically deleted, it is set to "expired" and purged after 30 days)
Then use the code I provide above to create the participant again (same id...)
but when the method "assignToGroup()" is called, it throws out that weird exception.
Fortunately, if I catch the exception, the group is already assigned to the participant.
To the obpm dev team, please fix it and provide a patch！
