Error with class myDocPattern extends PlainDocument

hi everyone,
I have made a Pattern in class myDocPattern to make double type validation while typing and goes well, but now it looks like I can't get data ( jText.getText() )
from text fields which I applied the pattern with.....I need to get the sum of 3 text fields after I applied the pattern
jtlogic.setDocument(new myDocPattern());
jtsystem.setDocument(new myDocPattern());
jtpascal.setDocument(new myDocPattern());
double totalNum = ( (Double.parseDouble(jtlogic.getText())) + Double.parseDouble(jtsystem.getText())) + (Double.parseDouble(jtpascal.getText())) );but it doesn't seem to work....hoping anybody could help..
Thanx
Code:
class myDocPattern extends PlainDocument
  public void insertString(int offs, String str, AttributeSet a) throws BadLocationException
    String oldText = this.getText(0,this.getLength());
    if (str.length() > 2 || "0123456789.".indexOf(str) < 0 || (str.equals(".") && offs <= 0) ||
       (oldText.length() > 3 && (oldText+str).indexOf(".") <= 1) || (oldText+str).length() > 7)
      java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
      return;
    super.insertString(offs, str, a);
}

That exception is derived from javax.servlet.ServletException.
That exception has a method called getRootCause(). That returns an exception which will tell you the real cause of the problem.
By the way are you sure 'Upload' is a File rather than just using a File. The first is inheritence the second is composition.

  • Loads of errors with classes: 1067 implicit coercion 118 illegal assignment

    Hi
    I have a main.fla and the two classes below VirtualGarage and VirtualCar. Main has VirtualGarage as its class which in turn works with VirtualCar. The code seems quite good but I get these errors. If anybody could help
    Cheers
    //VirtualGarage class
    package
    public class VirtualCar extends VirtualGarage
    var carSpeed:Number;
    var carColour:String;
    var carPrice:String;
    var car;
    public function VirtualCar(speed,colour,price)
    this.carSpeed = speed;
    this.carColour = colour;
    this.carPrice = price;
    //VirtualCar class
    package
    import VirtualCar;
    public class VirtualGarage
    private var newVirtualCar;
    public function VirtualGarage()
    newVirtualCar:VirtualCar = new VirtualCar(20,"red",30000);
    trace(newVirtualCar.speed;

    Hi - thank you very much.
    I know have the concept pretty well learnt. Although I find the statement class extends something to be ambiguous - it doesn't actually extend it - it inherits methods and properties from it. That's why I was so confused.
    However, I still have an error after modifying certain parts of code
    Main is now VirtualGarage.fla
                      VirtualGarage.as - class document
                      VirtualCar.as - another class
    Both .as docs reside in a folder called "garage" therefore there package name is garage.
    I get these errors 1067 implicit coercion... and 1188 illegal assignment to VirtualCar
    VirtualGarage.as
    package garage
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    public class VirtualGarage extends Sprite
    private var newVirtualCar:VirtualCar;
    public function VirtualGarage()
    newVirtualCar:VirtualCar = new VirtualCar("red"); //throws the error - 1067 implicit coercion... and 1188 illegal assignment to VirtualCar
    VirtualCar.as
    package garage
    public class VirtualCar //extends what? ie: a movieclip that calls it or the main class
    public var colour:String;
    public function VirtualCar(newColour)
    colour = newColour;

    The errors mean the compiler can not find the InvestCalc class. The compiler looks for classes using the Classpath. It might work if you use a command likejavac -cp . InvestCalcApp.javaThis command tells javac to look in the current directory for dependent classes.

  • Errors with classes

    Certain classes are not getting resolved in my code, and I'm not sure why, as I have all of the required jar files in the build path.  For the most part, all of the other classes have been fine.  Is there another file needed?
    Examples of classes that I get errors on include:
    RetrieveRecordsByValueCommand
    RetrieveBlobCommand
    MultiregionValue
    PdfBlobRecord
    These are the jar files I have included in the build path:
    MDM4J.jar
    mdm-admin.jar
    mdm-common.jar
    mdm-core.jar
    mdm-data.jar
    mdm-protocol.jar

    I think I do not have the most current jar files.  For example, I have MultiRegionalStringValue, which is deprecated, instead of MultiregionValue.
    What is the most current version of the jar files, and where can I get them?

    Thanks for your help with this problem. Now I have another problem that I am having a hard time figuring out. My program is using inheritance and polymorphism. I trying to use only one version of methods in the superclass points which extends the shapes class which is the abstract superclass vs. repeating the implementation of the methods (move, show, etc.) in each of the subclasses. The error I am getting is this "declare the class abstract, or implement abstract member 'Point Shapes.move()'. As you see, move is declared abstract and of type point in the Shapes superclass and it's behavior is implemented in the subclass Points extending Shapes. The other subclasses, circle, rectangle and lines will invoke the move method from Points and return a new point object. Why I am I getting the error to declare or implement move when the implementation is in Point?
    Below is code, please help?

  • Error 1119 when class extends another class that extends movieclip

    hiya
    i came across this problem and i have no clue why it's happening. basically, consider 2 nested movieclips on the stage, something like stage -> main -> filler.  both movieclips have instance names (main and filler).
    in the library, i set main to export for actionscript, using class A:
    package {
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        public class A extends MovieClip {
            public function A ():void {
                trace ('construct A');
                trace (this.filler); // should trace [movieclip] etc
    it works fine. now i change it's export settings to use class B, that extends A, and it breaks:
    package {
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        public class B extends A {
            public function B ():void {
                trace ('construct B');
    this throws an error 1119: Access of possibly undefined property filler through a reference with static type A.
    can anyone give me a hint on that, as it works with class A, but not B extending A? i understand it was meant to work?
    many thanks

    afaik, if you dont declare super(), flash will make a call for you (but best practice is to call it always).
    but i found the "solution" in another forum.
    it seems that flash implicitly generates variables if you have instance names/symbols on the stage. there is an option to disable that under publish settings -> Actionscript version -> Settings -> automatically declare stage instances. by disabling that, we were able to declare public var filler:MovieClip; on class A, and that worked.
    although, that solution doesnt look attractive to me. the other solution posted on another forum was to make calls to this ["filler"] instead of this.filler. that seems to work fine. i guess it has to do with the automatic variable generated thing.. who knows?
    i hope that helps someone else too

  • Instantiating a class using new with implements or extends

    I have created a class as follows:
    class MyFileFilter extends javax.swing.filechooser.FileFilter implements java.io.FilenameFilter {
         ...code here...
    }and it all works fine. If I try to use this code directly without importing the class, I would normally use the new keyword, but since this uses extends and implements, it is giving me errors such as:
    [javac] ';' expected
    Is there any way that I can use this with the new keyword, such as:
    MyFileFilter theFilter = new MyFileFilter extends javax.swing.filechooser.FileFilter implements java.io.FilenameFilter {
         ...code here...

    maybe your ';' error is really a coding error. Here is a sample of code where I do something similar in the middle of a method.
        public static void redirectOutput() {
            try {
                // make a print stream that logs the time for each entry.

                System.err.close();
                System.setErr(new TimeStampPrintStream(new FileOutputStream(com.perigee.fileio.LogFile.getLogDirectory() + "System.err"), true));
                System.setOut(new TimeStampPrintStream(new FileOutputStream(com.perigee.fileio.LogFile.getLogDirectory() + "System.out"), true));

  • LoadClass    (error loading a class which extends other class  at run-time)

    Hey!
    I'm using the Reflection API
    I load a class called 'SubClass' which exists in a directory called 'subdir' at run-time from my program
    CustomClassLoader loader = new CustomClassLoader();
    Class classRef = loader.loadClass("SubClass");
    class CustomClassLoader extends ClassLoader. I have defined 'findClass(String className)' method in CustomClassLoader.
    This is what 'findClass(String className)' returns:
    defineClass (className,byteArray,0,byteArray.length);
    'byteArray' is of type byte[] and has the contents of subdir/SubClass.
    the problem:
    The program runs fine if SubClass does not extend any class.
    If however, SubClass extends another class, the program throws a NoClassDefFoundError. How is it conceptually different?
    Help appreciated in Advance..
    Thanks!

    Because i'm a newbie to the Reflection thing, i'm notI don't see reflection anywhere. All I see is class loading.
    sure what role does the superclass play when i'm
    trying to load the derived class and how to get away
    with the errorWell... hint: all the superclass's stuff is not copied into the subclass.
    I am quite sure it fails to load the superclass because of classpath issues.

  • Problem with Player class: Error: (28) class Player not found

    Hi,
    I had this error while attempting to use the Player object of media package. I am using JDeveloper 3.2
    Error: (28) class Player not found in class lyee.Frame5.
    My program code has this shape.
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.media.*;
    public class Frame5 extends JFrame {
    FlowLayout flowLayout = new FlowLayout();
    JPanel jPanel1 = new JPanel();
    Player lecteur;
    Could someone help me finding where the error is exactly. The Player object is in javax.media pakcage, right ? Is there any librarary missing ??
    Thank you
    Jaouhar

    If you haven't done so already, you have to install JMF -- Java Media Framework, which you can download from the Sun website ( http://java.sun.com ). After that, you have to add that library to your project, in your project settings dialog.

  • Error for class in use running wsdlc with packageName

    Running wsdlc on a wsdl... Using type=JAXWS. Works fine without a package name... The default will be used from namespace.
    However when i specify packageName getting a long stream of errors regarding class collisions for xsd generated classes!
    I know that there are multiple imports for same xsd schema in various files, but could not find a solution for this, and seems basic enough to be previously encountered by others.
    [wsdlc] [ERROR] A class/interface with the same name "MyClass" is already in use. Use a class customization to resolve this conflict.
    thanks,
    Stefan

    actually looking at the link you sent found the explanation for my initial error!
    thanks again!
    The way wsdlc/packageName is used between JAX-RPC vs JAX-WS is completely different!!
    With second option all classes will end-up with same package name, which is why did not see the collision with first one.
    For me the difference looks fairly drastic, surprised there is not an option just to generate the same way...
    Here's the actual documentation:
    <<
    Depending on the type of partial implementation you generate (JAX-WS or JAX-RPC), the Java package name of the generated complex data types differs, as described in the following guidelines:
    •     For JAX-WS, if you specify the packageName attribute, then all artifacts (Java complex data types, JWS interface, and the JWS interface implementation) are generated into this package. If you want to change the package name of the generated Java complex data types in this case, use the <binding> child element of the wsdlc Ant task to specify a custom binding declarations file. For information about creating a custom binding declarations file, see "Using JAXB Data Binding" in Getting Started With JAX-WS Web Services for Oracle WebLogic Server.
    •     For JAX-RPC, if you specify the packageName attribute of the wsdlc Ant task, only the generated JWS interface and implementation are in this package. The package name of the generated Java complex data types, however, always corresponds to the XSD Schema type namespace, whether you specify the packageName attribute or not.

    Hi,
    I am not able to find sharepoint word in your post so can you please confirm that your question is related to sharepoint?
    > Class not registered
    For you issue, this error usually comes if you don't have DLL in proper place so add SWFToImage.dll in GAC and then add this assembly reference in your project from GAC.
