Connecting two printers to an Express?

1. Can you plug a USB hub into an Airport Express N so you can connect more than 1 printer?
2. Can you have a printer connected to the usb port and another printer connected via the ethernet port?
Thanks.

  • Connecting two printers one IMAC

Is it possible to connect two printers to an IMac ?
One is a HP printer, fax, scanner and the other ia a canon printer only.
Currently, the Canon is connected via USB, and working fine, and I can print from my laptop over my wireless network.
What would happen if I plug in the HP in another USB port, will it conflict ? or just switch back and forth depending on which printer I want to use, even over the wireless network.
    Thanks

I have 3 connected, no problems whatsoever, you can hook up as many as you would like.

  • Connecting two printers wirelessly to Airport network?

    Hi,
I currently have a working wireless network with the Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router BEFW11S4 - which I believe is 802.11b - that connects 2-4 laptops at any point in time.
I just purchased the new Airport Extreme 54 mbp Base Station. I would like to
    1. Set up the Airport network.
    2. Put our two printers on the network and print wirelessly.
The printers are on are far away (1st floor) from the cable internet access point (2nd floor) so USB connection is not an option.
    I have two questions:
    1. Would it be better/simpler to purchase a print server to connect to my Airport network and make the two printers available for wireless printing?
    2. Is it possible to connect ("bridge") the two wireless routers and then place one router close to the printers and connect via USB. If yes, should the configuration be Airport to Linksys or Linksys to Airport?
If there are any more simple/smart solutions than the options I came up with - they will be much appreciated. Thanks for reading this long question!

Complex question that I don't think I can answer all of...
Airport Extreme Base Station - can connect only one USB printer - no hub permitted.
Print Servers (other than Extreme/Express) - work great for postscript printers, but are problematic with non-postscript printers. Printing to print servers uses "standard" protocols. In OS X, the "standard" protocols are provided by CUPS, so they need cups-capable drivers on OS X. Brother is the Only non-postscript printer manufacturer so far to provide CUPS drivers. Many non-postscript printers can be made to work with third-party drivers (Gimp-Print is one of these), but most people are unsatisfied with print quality (if you want to print photos for example).
I think wireless bridging will work with the Airport BS in the "receiving side" only -- but I haven't tried that.
For more help on the printers/network printing, need to know the printer models.
    Hope this gets you started.

  • Trying to connect two computers to Airport express

Hi, i have two mac minis which i am trying to connect to the internet via airport express to a modem. No problems with one of them, very reliable but i can't get the other to connect. It staes there is no ip address . This is when using the "configure ipv4 using dhcp" When i tried manually and copied the same address it appeared to work except it said that another computer was using that i.p address. (which is the one that always is working) Question is, cause i am a newbie, what ip address should i use? Thanks.....

How is your Express configured? In AirPort Utility select the Express and click "Manual Setup". In the Internet panel, Internet Connection tab, "Connection Sharing" should probably be set to "Share a public IP address". As you mention, each of your Macs should be set with "Configure IPv4" to "Using DHCP".
If all those settings look good, you might try resetting your connection settings on the problematic Mac using the steps listed in this message:

They're not guaranteed to solve the problem, but they'll only take a minute or so to try.

  • Tecra A9 - Connecting two external displays using Express Port Replicator

    Hi,
I have a Tecra A9 and Express Port Replicator.
I'm trying to connect 2 external displays, one connected on the notebook output and the other connected on the docking station (notebook lid closed, not using the notebook display).
I can only get one to work, does anyone know if this is possible?

    Hi
I think you want to connect one monitor to VGA and the other to DVI port.
    Is it right?
    Well, I found this doc:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7B0201000CR01.htm
It depends on the used Tecra A9, if you can get a picture on the DVI out port on the Express Port Replicator (PA3508E-1PRP) or not.
The DVI port on the on the Express Port Replicator is only supported on machines with ATI or nVidia graphic card.
If you have a INTEL graphic card the DVI port on the on the Express Port Replicator is NOT supported.

  • Two Printers Connected to a Time Capsule?

Can I connect two printers to my Time Capsule by plugging a USB 1:2 adapter into the Time Capsule then each printer into one of the two USB ports on the adapter?

    Yes: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7783498
However, not all printers are compatible....

  • Two printers linked to one airport express

we link one HP printer to our airport express and everything is good. We now have one extra HP laser printer and is it possible to hook up two printers to one airport express?
Could we just buy an USB hub and plug both printers in and is it going to work in this case?
    Thanks!!!

No it only supports a single compatible USB printer.

  • I used Airport Base station and I was able to extend my network using airport express and connect my printers.  Now I am using Extreme and I can't extend the network (Express) or the printers nothing shows up.  I am using utility 6.3 and Mt Lion  What is

I had an Aiport Base Station and extended using Airport Express, where I also connected my printers (network). Now using Airport Extreme off Mt Lion 10.8.4 and Utility 6.3.
I can't extend the network (express) or connect my printers (USB) nor will it find my one wifi printer.
    What's up?

For now, leave the AirPort Express powered off.
Power off the entire network....all devices.....in any order that you want
    Wait a few minutes
Power up the modem first, and let it run 2-3 minutes by itself
Power up the AirPort Extreme next, and let it run a full minute
Keep powering up devices one at a time about a minute apart until everything is powered up (leave the Express off for now)
Open AirPort Utility and check to see if the AirPort Extreme is visible.
If it's not, click the AirPort Utility menu at the upper left of the screen, then click About AirPort Utility. Post back with the version number of AirPort Utility that you see there....which should be AirPort Utility 5.6.1.
    Post back on your progress.

  • Connecting Two Airport Express Via Ethernet

I have a unique situation in which I would like to connect two airport express via ethernet. Here is the situation: I can connect the first AX directly to the internet and set up a WDS for the second AX. Unfortunately, the second AX signal does not reach where I need it to go. I can run an ethernet cable between the two. Is this setting valid for a WDS? Or does the WDS have to be wireless? If I can set up the WDS using an ethernet, will the relay AX broadcast the internet wirelessly then?
Are there any specific settings I should know about?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks in advance,
    Debbie

I currently have an old snow basestation at this location. Can I plug an ethernet cable into it and connect it to the AX?
    Yes that will work.
My understanding was that the older basestation could not do this?
I think you have it confused with extending a network wirelessly. That is not possible with the snow AirPort base station (ABS).

  • Two USB printers on one Express?

Is it possible to run two USB printers from my Express? I've tried it with an HP 1012 and an Epson C60. The computer will choose one (usually the first one turned on) and won't see the other.

    Only one can work.

  • Can I connect and use Time Capsule with two printers?

Can I connect and use Time Capsule with two printers?

Sure, if the printers connect using the Ethernet port, you have 3 ports on the Time Capsule.
If the printers connect using wireless only, the Time Capsule will support up to 50 connections.
If your printers connect using USB, then you will need a powered USB hub. Something like this, for example:

  • List of suported USB printers for AP-Express

HI, can some one help me in finding an official list of supported usb printers for AP-Express? I have two printers and none of them works. I am thinking of buying new one, but only if I will be able to print via AE....( Canon i-SENSYS MF4730) is the one I would like to purchace. Thanks for any answer.

Unfortunately, Apple does not provide a list of supported printers with USB connections.
And....even IF a printer might be supported with USB printing, other advanced features like copy, scan maintenance, etc will not be supported if you have an All-in-One type of device.
If you want full functionality with an All-in-One device, then be sure to buy a device that connects to the network using either an Ethernet or wireless connection.

  • Connect multiple printers through Airport?

I have two printers (HP3100 and Epson3880) I would like to connect wirelessly to my local network so can be accessed by many in the house. I see airport express has capability for one USB input - if I put a hub in will both be recognized?
Multiple computers with 10.6.8 or higher.
If not is there another way?
    Thanks.

Yes, as long as it is a powered hub.
Uses for the USB port of Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express

  • Can you hook two printers to the airport extreme

Can I hook up multiple printers to any of the airport devices?  the middle one has more than one port - one for printer and one for hard drive.  Can I put a printer in each port?

Hi - you can connect mutiple USB printers via a USB hub - you can also connect multiple printers to the ethernet ports on an Extreme or Time Capsule - you can do the same with an Express with an ethernet switch - you can also do it wirelessly

  • How to print to two printers via network?

    Hi,
I just moved into a new house with ethernet cabling throughout. I'd love to print to my two printers (HP LaserJet 1012 and a Canon iP3600) via the network without using a computer. However, I can't figure out how to do it.
    So far, I've tried:
Attaching a USB hub to my 1st generation Airport Extreme. Didn't work. Don't think they support hubs. I can print to either printer if individually hooked up, just not via the hub.
A D-Link D-301U USB ethernet print server. Misread the specs. Thought this came with two USB ports. Tried each printer individually, but couldn't figure out how to hook it up. Failed utterly with a USB hub attached.
The issue is NOT the network connection. No problems plugging my computer directly into the ethernet on the wall and getting great connectivity.
Any suggestions how to do this? I've heard that the latest Airport Extremes support printing through a USB hub...
    Thanks in advance.

The drivers provided by HP and Canon for those printers are USB-Only! You will have to use third-party drivers for each, to use the standard network print protocols. Apple has included one set of third-party drivers, Gutenprint, in OS X. To see if your printers are supported by the latest Gutenprint version, check here:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
The two other sources of third-party CUPS drivers are:
