Hi Chris!
At least the favicon.ico is explainable. I presume you use Firefox which does usually ask for a favicon (the tiny icon in the tab). This is not there by default.

First thought that comes to mind is to return HTML that tells the browser
redirect to a nonexistent file under Apache. You can't tell Apache to
throw a 404 unless you're in a mod. Maybe something they could add to the
proxy, but until then, I think a redirection in the response HTML is your
only option.

HTTP 404 Error on Apache, behind ACE 4710
Hello All,
I am having a difficulty loadbalancing my web servers.
I have the ACE appliance setup and the real servers area all setup and running (IIS 6.0 with Apache Tomcat 4.1.8). I need to load balance these web servers, but at intervals requests for server pages get returned with the HTTP: 404 Error from Apache., when I check my ports (80, 8080), from my Virtual Server -VIP, The services are all running. Any clues why I keep getting this Apache error so often ..?I've my application public. When user enter https://mySite.org then it should automatically take him/her to https://mySite.org/apex401/f?p=MYAPP:HOME_.
I'm using OHS and below is the configuration in my dads.conf file:
<Location /apex401>
Order deny,allow
PlsqlDocumentPath docs
AllowOverride None
PlsqlDocumentProcedure wwv_flow_file_manager.process_download
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString myApex.in01.qwer.org:1689:DEMOTEST ServiceNameFormat
PlsqlNLSLanguage AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P15
PlsqlAuthenticationMode Basic
SetHandler pls_handler
PlsqlDocumentTablename wwv_flow_file_objects$
PlsqlDatabaseUsername APEX_PUBLIC_USER
PlsqlDefaultPage htmldb
PlsqlDatabasePassword ******************************
Allow from all
</Location>
And I tried to add below in my httpd.conf:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName mySite.org
DocumentRoot <<document root directory path>>
#ErrorDocument 404 http://stage.purduehcp.com/
#Redirect permanent /index.html http://stage.purduehcp.com/hcpportal/f?p=HCP:HOME
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^((.*&)?)p=([0-9]+):(.+)$
# Redirect to app when hitting the URL
RewriteRule ^/$ /apex401/f?p=MY_APP:HOME [NE,R=302,L]
</VirtualHost>
Can anyone please advice on where I might have gone wrong? -

Sorry, you are not running Java 5. I know you think you are, and I
don't know how to prove there is an older Java (probably 1.42) installed
somewhere). But there is
> java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:
> com/novell/webaccess/WebAccessServlet (Unsupported major.minor version
> 49.0)
This error can ONLY occur if the JVM is running too old a version. As it
happens 49.0 is 5.0 (50 is 6.0, 51 is 7.0).
java -version doesn't prove much. (that proves a version of java you
have is 1.5, but not that tomcat is running it). Go to the tomcat dirs,
find the bin directory and try running startup.sh directly there. IIRC
it spits out the JAVA_HOME var it is using. -
I am getting what appear to be SSL errors in the apache logs when I try and use an SSL certificate on a website listening on a non-standard port.
I have a site, lets call it test.example.com, that is setup on port 8843. When I use no SSL cert, I have no problems. When I select a cert and restart apache, I get the following errors in the apache error log and the whole web server become non-responsive and will not load any webpages.

Thanks!Yep. That's an encrypted key. The server software is doing the decryption automagically for you when you do things The Apple Way™. But when you try to do your own thing on your own port, that functionality gets bypassed..
If you know the passphrase you used to set up the key in the first place, you can use openssl commands to create a decrypted version of the key file for your use. If not, Use the openssl commands to make your own new key/cert pair.
There is a good how to one this and other basic ssl commands at:

Mod_jk load error with Apache on OS X
Hello -
I have been running CF9 on OS X with a MacPorts install of Apache 2.2.21 with no issues as a "standalone" server installation. To get ready for CF10 I have ben trying to get CF10 configured with Apache. The specefic error I am getting when launching Apache is:
Cannot load /Applications/ColdFusion10/config/wsconfig/1/mod_jk.so into server: dlopen( /Applications/ColdFusion10/config/wsconfig/1/mod_jk.so, 10): Symbol not found: _apr_stat$INODE64\n Referenced from: /Applications/ColdFusion10/config/wsconfig/1/mod_jk.so\n Expected in flat namespace\n /Applications/ColdFusion10/config/wsconfig/1/mod_jk.so
I have done the following:
1. Recompiled Apache and forced a 64-bit compile
2. Uninstalled CF9
3. Uninstalld and reinsalled CF10
4. apxs is installed in /opt/local/apache2/bin (listed asa requirement in one of the documentation PDFs)
5. This is a Lion 10.7.3 with Xcode 4.2.1 currently installed
The error listed above is only a warning. Apache starts and still servers html files. I am a bit stumped and have no experience with Tomcat. Any help in finding a solution to this problem will be appreciated.
Thank you
RichardMade progress -
Setting the max_packet_size seemed to start the 1st time CF10 admin process, just like it did with CF9 the 1st time we access the administrator. Then, it just went to a blank white screen.
mod_jk.log reports:
[error] ajp_process_callback::jk_ajp_common.c (1825): Unknow ajp protocol code: 0F
[error] ajp_process_callback::jk_ajp_common.c (2426): (cfusion) connecting to tomcat failed
Now: here is something interesting:
Look at the end of the URL when it 1st attempts to access administrator: It is index.cfm?configServer=true or index.cfm?serverConfig=true
By removing this it allows me to simply click on the "continue" option and low and behold the CF admin comes up.
I also have an issue with topnav.cfm reporting a 400 (Bad Request)
Quiting the browser and comming back to CF Admin displays the login page but after enter username and password I land on index.cfm and it goes no further.
Refreshing the page starts to rope in various admin componets.
Also, it will not process any simple cfm template reporting an internal server error.
Hopefully this has to do with this being a beta. -

Apache Tomcat/4.1.31hi,
when i use the code
if(st != null)st.close();
if(con != null ) con.close();
that works good ,the old error has been corrected.
but it's now throwing an SQLException[b] "datasource name not found and default driver not specified" why this occurs and also can u give me the explanation for the old error????
I am sure that i have created an user DSN, i am 100% sure about it .even though there is an error.

Errors in apache error_log
I have installed 4.20.983 on a RHEL 3 update 7 x86_64 server. I keep seeing error messages in the SGD webserver error log file:
/opt/tarantella/webserver/apache/1.3.33_mod_ssl-2.8.22_openssl-0.9.7e_jk1.2.8/htdocs/favicon.ico
not existing as well as files in the htdocs/style directory. The favicon.ico file does not exist nor does the style directory. Should they exist, i.e. do I have a bad install?favicon.ico is a small icon that you create; it's that little icon that shows up to the left of the URL in the address/location window at the top of the browser.
If you want one, google something like "favicon.ico create" or the like; if you don't have one, it's not exactly critical. -
Problem accessing exception object in jsp error page - Apache Tomcat 5.0.25
Hi all,
I'm thoroughly confused and need some help. I've deployed a very simple web application in Apache Tomcat 5.0.25 to test exception handling - errortest.jsp and error.jsp. errortest.jsp throws a divide by zero exception if executed with default values in text fields.
When I put the directive IsErrorPage="true" in error.jsp i get a HTTP 500 error when error.jsp is accessed. If I remove it error.jsp is displayed but I cant access the exception object - if I try to I get an exception below:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
An error occurred at line: 5 in the jsp file: /error.jsp
Generated servlet error:
[javac] Compiling 1 source file
E:\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.0\work\Catalina\localhost\mywebapp\org\apache\jsp\error_jsp.java:46: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : variable exception
location: class org.apache.jsp.error_jsp
out.print(exception.getMessage());
^
1 error
Below is the code for the two jsp pages:
errortest.jsp:
<%@ page errorPage="error.jsp" %>
<html>
<head><title>Error test</title></head>
<body>
<form action="errortest.jsp" method="post">
Enter first number:<input type="text" name="first" value="5"/><br>
Enter second number:<input type="text" name="second" value="0"/><br>
<input type="submit"/>
</form>
<%
if (request.getMethod().equals("POST")) {
int first = Integer.parseInt( request.getParameter( "first" ) );
int second = Integer.parseInt( request.getParameter( "second" ) );
int answer = first/second;
%>
</body>
</html>
NB: I am able to catch and display the exception if I use a try/catch block around the division as shown below.
try {
int answer = first/second;
} catch( Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace( new PrintWriter(out) );
error.jsp (first draft)
NB: HTTP 500 error occurs when directive "isErrorPage" is added:
<%@ page isErrorPage="true" %>
<html>
<head><title>Error Page</title></head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
error.jsp (second draft)
NB: directive is removed but exception thrown when implicit exception object is accessed. error.jsp displays if exception object is not accessed:
<%@ page %>
<html>
<head><title>Error Page</title></head>
<body>
<%=exception.getMessage()%>
</body>
</html>
