ESS Accounting business packages

Hi Friends,
We are planning to implement EP7.0.ESS accounting business packages.  To implement ESS do we need to have SAP HR module implemented in our System or not required. if we are configuring the SAP Users in portal. Is there any chance to reduce the cost cutting in user’s license? Wht are the benefits?? wht is each user cost?? wht are the free business packages??
Thanks & Regards,
Priya

  • Impact of ESS/MSS Business Packages

We are implementing the SAP Portal and therefore will be downloading and installing the ESS/MSS Business Packages.  I would appreciate if anyone could tell me if there is any impact on any SAP HR existing functionalities as a result of this.  Do we need to be aware of any issues that you may have encountered in your implementation.
    Thanks
    Pascal

    Hi Pascal
I don't think any problem with existing functionality. but you need to make sure you download and install the correct version and SP stack.
Refer to [HOW TO GET RID OF SP STACK MISMATCH ISSUES |http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HOWTOGETRIDOFSPSTACKMISMATCHISSUES]
    Hope it will helps

  • Upgrade path for ESS/MSS business package while upgrading to ECC 6.0

    Hi All,
We have a scenario where SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0 SP 18 is currently running with SAP ECC 4.6C. SAP ECC is being upgraded to SAP ECC 6.0 and consequently we have a requirement to upgrade to the latest ESS/MSS business package. In a scenario like this what is SAP recommended approach for ESS/MSS upgrade? My questions are
    1) Is a direct upgrade of ESS/MSS possible? If this is possible, then how will it be done on a production system with reduced or no downtime?
    2) Should ESS/MSS business package be deployed and configured afresh after removing/undeploying the existing version of ESS/MSS business package? If this is the case how would the earlier customizations be restored?
    3) Is there any other approach?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Suresh,
In my openion, it will be good if you go for new implementation, reason being as you mentiond ECC versionyou are on is 4.6c all the ESS applications are ITS based now a days all the application/iView for ESS are Webdynpro for Java or WD for ABAP based.
Till the time the new portal ready you can continue with your currect one (No down time require).
Most of the people are using this way. (Check the SDN for more details).
Also chcek this migration guide, which will give you the basic steps required.

Could anyone please suggest me what could be wrong?
    Thanks,
    Sunitha<b></b>

    Hi Sunitha,
First of all I was not able to find if your backend is ERP 2004 or ERP 2005. It should be ERP 2005 if you want to user ESS 1.0 and MSS 1.0 BP
Please check in Content Administrator if you can locate these applications and test the same. If yes then you can ignore this warning. If No, in that case you have to redeploy XSS, ESS and MSS using SDM again.
The links in portal comes from your backend Area Page Customizing. To verify if the problem is with your Portal Business Package or with your backend customizing run your ESS applications using
    http://<portal>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTESS
    and MSS using
    http://<portal>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTMSS
If you can see all the links correctly here, your backend customization is fine and there is a problem with your BP of ESS and MSS. So you will have to import the same again in the portal. However if you are not able to view the links in the page, then there is a problem with you Area Page Customization. You will need to check your config with the Client 000 configuration to find out the missing config.
    Hope this helps.

    Shubham

  • Transport process for configured ESS/MSS business packages to QA system

    Hello Gurus!!
We have configured ESS and MSS business packages on NW 2004s portal DEV system. Everything is working fine now. Could anyone please explain me the process of transporting the configured business package content to the QA System. I know the general transport procedure for transporting content from one system to another system.
But wanted to make sure what it is like for transporting the business packages, for which lot of backend configurations have been done.
Any help in this regard will greatly be appreciated with valuable SDN points.
    Thanks,

  • Errror while deploying ESS Business Package.

    Hi,
I'am deploying ESS SP11 Business Package and while deploying it in SDM it is giving me an error in the intial stage, when i press Start Deploymet option it is giving the error <b>"None of the available containers recognized the components of application sap.com/tc~sl.ut.content.erp.xss; it is not possible to make deploy."</b>
Please guide me in this issue
    Thanks and Regards
    Pradeep.B

    Hi Mahipal,
I would request you to go for ESS 10 or 11.
Why you required ESS 13. Even I faced the same issue, but then undeployed everything and deployed ESS 10 and BPERP5ESS 10. Let your PCUI be 11 or 12 that does not matter.
Also when I deployed through SDM it took the hell lot of time. So the best option is to go through JSPM.
Copy your .zip file in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in folder and open JSPM ( /usr/sap/SID/j2ee/JSPM/go.sh) and give your SDM password and then select the first option( support pack).
But ensure that you undeploy the ESS/BPERP5ESS 13 from SDM and then deploy through JSPM.
    Everything will be all right.
    Take care

  • ESS Business Package with External Facing / Light Framework

    Hi all,
We are using an external facing portal with light framework page and we now start with ESS/MSS Business Packages.
Unfortunately e.g. ESS szenarios aren't working in our framework. I found out, that "strange" urls are used and that the session is terminated with the dsm.Terminator
    (http://XXXX/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.dsm.Terminator)
Strange url which is called within light framework:
    Browser submitted values to
    http://XXXX/irj/portal?standAlone=true&WebDynproNamespace=sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils&WebDynproApplication=XssMenuArea&DynamicParameter=sap.xss.menuhdr%3DSAPDEFAULT%26sap.xss.menuargrp%3DSAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005%26sap-epcm-guid%3D4B4BF671AD569E176974193671944A9426C53F2A1765A289E821F4F42AF23713%26sap.xss.menuarea%3DEMPLOYEE_SEARCH_ERP2005&HistoryMode=0&windowId=WID1216035848750
If I use ESS with the default desktop it works.
I found the following Note with restrictions for External Facing Portal and Light Framework Page:
    Note 916545 - Central Note for External-Facing Portal (NW 7.0) =>
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/916545
    Here an extract:
    =====================================================================
    IV    RESTRICTIONS
    =====================================================================
Unsupported Content: SAP business packages and applications that use the EPCM's WorkProtect Mode feature may not work properly when using the light framework page. (e.g. Web Dynpro based applications of the portal administration UI or custom build applications.)
What does may not work properly mean? Does anyone know if there are some "features" that makes it possible to run ESS szenarios in an external facing portal?
Is it possible to activate the WorkProtected Mode and Session Termination in the framework having in mind that some performance gain for the light framework is gone?
    How did you implement ESS?
    Thanks and regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Gopal,
I already tried to replace e.g. in the inner page the Light Content Area iview with the normal Content Area iView.
With this change at least the height of the Overview Page will be displayed correct.
I'm still facing other problems that the DSM Terminator is being called regardless of the EPCF level (0, 1, 2).
Changing the epcf level doen't change anything.
Do you know what's the technical difference between the Light Content Area iView and the normal one?
    Regards,
    Stefan

    Deb,
Thank you very much for your response.  You made very clear the question I had about <host Name>:<Port>.
However,  When I put those settings into the "system" and then i try to test i get the following results:
    SAP Web AS Connection
      Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Checks the validity of system ID in the system object.
    2. Checks if the system can be retrieved from the PCD.
    3. Check whether a SAP system is defined in the system object
    4. Validate the following parameters: WAS protocol; WAS host name
    5. Checks if the host name of the server can be resolved.
    6. Pings the server to see if it is alive.
    7. Pings the WAS ping service; works only if the service is activated on the ABAP WAS.
    8. Checks HTTP/S connectivity to the defined back-end application
      Results
    1. The system ID is valid
    2. The system was retrieved.
    3. The system object represents an SAP system
    4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (bus0230.baldor.com:53600)
    5. The host name bus0230.baldor.com was resolved successfully.
    6. The server bus0230.baldor.com could not be pinged successfully.
Should I be concerned that the server cannot be ping successully?  I see that step 7 says this will only be sucessful if the services is activated on teh ABAP WAS.  So i am thinking this test will not complete successfully?
    Best Regards,
    Steven
