ESS - add a new column to Record Working Time table

Hello all,
My client would like to add a column to the Record Working Time table in ESS. They would like to add a column for Activity Name next to Activity Number. Can anyone tell me where this can be congured? Or would this be something I would need to hard-code in the ess~cat source code?
Thanks,
-Kevin

I have figured out the 2 step process needed for this, involving Modifiable and Influencing. So I am able to add new fields. The only issue I am running into now appears to be dependant on the field name.
I can add CATSD-VORNR
But I cant add CATSDB-LTXA1
I have tried a few variations and it seems i can add fields from CATSD but not from CATSDB?
Has anyone else seen this or know what steps must be taken to display CATSDB-LTXA1?
Thanks,
-Kevin

    hi experts ,
Can any one suggest me how to unhide some columns of the table "Record Working Time" .
Actually I have tried the following procedure : content admin -> portal content -> iview -> Rclickctrlalt and check the property of the table and displayed all the columns . It shows all the columns perfectly .
Finally , when I checked the table in Employee self service -> Working time -> Record working time , I can not see some columns which are visible in content admin "Record Working Time " iview .
It is a standard webdynpro java application "CatDataRecord" .

    hi gorlisrinu  ,
    Thanks for your reply .
I have all the administration right . When  I  check the iview in 'Content Admin' I can see all the columns , but when I check the same iview under  'ESS role' i can not see some of the columns  of "Record Working Table ". That is my problem . Can you tell me what is the reason behind it  ? I always save  all the changes after any modification .

  • Search Option in Fields in Record Working Time Table

    Hi,
In ESS, in Record Working Time table, there is search option provided in certain fields like for Rec. Order we have search option and when we click, screen pops up with advance search by Order Type,CO Area,Order,Description. In R/3 we have search option provided in all fields but not in ESS. I am trying to modify the ESS Cats webdynpro for java application and cannot figure out how the table for time entry is constructed after the first 2 header rows ....as for the first 2 rows I found the method addFixHeaderLines() in the VcCatRecordEntry Component which has 2 separate view controllers for Weekly and Daily tables construction in the respective tabs...
If anybody has any idea about the above ...please help..

It was not in the Detail view...but in a separate .java file...ListViewerSlim.java ..if anybody has worked on it then please let me know...

  • CATT Record Working Times ESS

    Hi everyone,
What I need to know is if there is any possibility to add by customizing without any development new fields in the Record Working Times Table. The fields I want are from(hours) / to (hours) for each work day in the weekly view, like it is displayed in the SAP GUI transactions. The hours are available in the daily view and also in the SAP GUI for the weekly view, so I hope its just customizing but I would like to know if anyone has done this as we need our employees to enter time in and time out. Any help as soon as possible will be greatly rewarded...

In the old ITS transaction CATW you cloud display the hours in the weekly view, but the window got so wide that you lost overview. A lot of customers did complain about that. Therefore SAP developed the weekly overview and the daily detailed view, which is a lot better that the old ITS CATW.
Our time-people raised the question, but SAP did reply that it is not possible to show hours in the weekly view, and they has no intension of developing this function.

  • Custom Search help in Record Working Time

    Hi,
We have a requirement to add a custom field on RECORD Working Time ( ESS). This field has been added and custom search help is assigned to the data element of the field. The values in the F4 help should vary based on employees department.
The related code for this requirement is written in the serach help exit. The F4 help is working as expected from backend ( ECC) but not in Portal (ESS).
I have added the custom field in TCATS_SHLP_ITS. After maintaining this table all the values in F4 help are displaying , whereas it should only display the values under employees department in Record Working time.
I understand the class cl_xss_cat_value_help_general is responsible for the search help in ESS is there any user exit or enhancement available for this class in order to control the serach values on ESS.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Pradeep

note that search help of CAT2 and record working time are different!
    these are teh steps
please modify the following in the table TCATS_SHLP_ITS as follows:
              1. Execute the T-Code SM31
              2. Enter the table name TCATS_SHLP_ITS.
    or check the class
    CL_XSS_CAT_VALUE_HELP_GENERAL
    or check
    CL_XSS_CAT_VALUE_HELP*
take an example from Sap note 914125

  • How to restrict the dropdown values in Att/abs type in Record Working Time

    Hello experts,
We are implementing ESS business package.  In the Record Working time, within the Weekly View and Daily View tabs, there is a column Att/abs.type which has several drop down values - like:  floating value, Funeral Leave, Military Reserve, Regular Attendance, etc.   Our requirement is to restrict the dropdown values  by means of showing only one of these values (say:  Regular Attendance) and others should not be shown.   How do we achieve this?
    Thanks
    Vicky R.

    Hi Siddarth,
Thanks for the info.  By the way, this table info is not mentioned in the Business Package documentation.  Which documentation are you referring to?
    Thanks

  • Date Format in Record Working Time

    Dear All,
We are using standard ESS SAP Application i.e. Record Working Time. In this application in Weekly View, the date format is MM.DD.YYYY.
But for other countries it should be DD.MM.YYYY.
    How to change this format?
We have changed the format in SU3 but still from portal the format is same.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Nikesh Shah

    Hello,
Crystal Reports is now returning all rows where pos_endd is null in the database with the record selection criteria of:
    {CHRIS_EmpSal.pos_endd} = date(0, 0, 0)
However, when I run it in Finance One, it doesn't like this date format   Is there another way to get both Crystal and Finance One (i.e., SQL Server DB) to recognise the same syntax for null dates?

  • ESS Record working time error "Profile not initialised" TS31000007

    Hi,
This is with reference to approvals of Times in ESS . I have copied the task TS31000004  to my custom task. I have made a custom rule to determine the superior in the Z task i have created.
Wehn i try to assign the Z task created  to the Data entry profile in the "with approval" section( *** use sap business workflow *** ) , it gives me an error "Profile not initialised" . If i remove the check box for "Use SAP Business workflow" and do not enter any task there, the record working time screen is shown in ESS.
Any idea why it is giving the "Profile not initalised" when i assign the workflow in data entry profile.

    Hi Haydn,
I have check the wokflow through CAT2 in SAP R3. When i save the CATS record, it send a workflow task to the superiror identified through by custom rule.
If i try it through front end ESS, the same is not working and is throwing "PROFILE_NOT_INITIALIZED" error.
    I have down the following
    1) Copy the standard task TS31000004 to ZTS31000004
    2) Assigned it as general task, assigned the custom rule in Default rules for agen determination
    3) Assigned the Task in Data entry profile, checked the box "Use SAP Business workflow" in data entry profile.
    4) In Portal i have registered the UWL system, note i am not getting the ZTS31000004 in UWL xml file.
Do i need to ADD the new ZTS31000004 in SWFVISU and delete the standard TS31000004 provided and re-register system ?
also do i need to create the events in SWETYPV for this Tasks as they are not present there?
    Your help is appreciated.

  • ESS Record Working Time .. Restrict Time Entry with Relative limit

    Hi SDN Users,
We are using ERP 2005 and EP 7.0 with webdynpro java ESS applications for Time, Travel and Personal Information.
In the ESS Record Working Time application, a user can scroll to any date he wants in the past or in the future and record/edit working times. The application does not take into consideration the setting made in the time entry profile for relative limit.
Please suggest the best way I can include this in the webdynpro application for Record Working Time. (in other words I would like to restrict the users to NOT be able to scroll before and later than 1 week from the current week).
Can this be achieved by modifying any ABAP program / BADI / User Exit (OR)
Would this require Webdynpro Code changes ?
Please suggest some changes if any one has gone through a similar requirement.
    Thank You,
    Salome

    Hello Salome ,
You can use the following way out for this :
Lets say you want to allow one week before Begda , rest entries not allowed .
    1. VcCatRecordentry View - make a method called dateValid(); this would return true / flase
we can get begda and endda.
    wdcontext.currentcontextelement.gettimesheetBegda();
    wdcontext.currentcontextelement.gettimesheetendda();
    Date sysDate =  new Date(Calendar.getInstance().getTimeInMillis());
         int sysDay = sysDate.getDay();
    2. Instantiate the Calendar  Calendar c1 =  new GregorianCalendar();
    3. c1.add(c1.DATE,-7);
        Date dt_end =  c1.getTime();
now compare the dt_end to begda if it return >0
then in on action navigation nxt  - report exception
this would work , since I did the same and it worked absolutely well for me  .

  • How can I add a new column in compress partition table.

I have a compress partition table when I add a new column in that table it give me an error "ORA-22856: CANNOT ADD COLUMNS TO OBJECT TABLES". I had cretaed a table in this clause. How can I add a new column in compress partition table.
    CREATE TABLE Employee
    Empno Number,
    Tr_Date Date
    COMPRESS PARTITION BY RANGE (Tr_Date)
PARTITION FIRST Values LESS THAN (To_Date('01-JUL-2006','DD-MON-YYYY')),
    PARTITION JUNK Values LESS THAN (MAXVALUE));
    Note :
When I create table with this clause it will allow me to add a column.
    CREATE TABLE Employee
    Empno Number,
    Tr_Date Date
    PARTITION BY RANGE (Tr_Date)
PARTITION FIRST Values LESS THAN (To_Date('01-JUL-2006','DD-MON-YYYY')),
    PARTITION JUNK Values LESS THAN (MAXVALUE));
But for this I have to drop and recreate the table and I dont want this becaue my table is in online state i cannot take a risk. Please give me best solution.

    Hi Fahed,
I guess, you are using Oracle 9i Database Release 9.2.0.2 and the Table which you need to alter is in OLTP environment where data is usually inserted using regular inserts. As a result, these tables generally do not get much benefit from using table compression. Table compression works best on read-only tables that are loaded once but read many times. Tables used in data warehousing applications, for example, are great candidates for table compression.

Topic : When to Use Table Compression
    Bug
    Reference : http://dba.ipbhost.com/lofiversion/index.php/t147.html
    BUG:<2421054>
    Affects: RDBMS (9-A0)
    NB: FIXED
Abstract: ENH: Allow ALTER TABLE to ADD/DROP columns for tables using COMPRESS feature
    Details:
This is an enhancement to allow "ALTER TABLE" to ADD/DROP
columns for tables using the COMPRESS feature.
In 9i errors are reported for ADD/DROP but the text may
    be misleading:
    eg:
ADD column fails with "ORA-22856: cannot add columns to object tables"
DROP column fails with "ORA-12996: cannot drop system-generated virtual column"
Note that a table which was previously marked as compress which has
now been altered to NOCOMPRESS also signals such errors as the
underlying table could still contain COMPRESS format datablocks.
As of 10i ADD/SET UNUSED is allowed provided the ADD has no default value.

  • How to add a new column to specific position

    Hi,
How to add a new column to specified position in a existing table.
I have using the oracle database 10g.
This below code is not working in oracle 10 g
    example:
ALTER TABLE EMPLOYEE ADD DEPT NUMBER FIRST:
ALTER TABLE EMPLOYEE ADD DEPT NUMBER AFTER JOB:
    Please provide the correct syntax.

    Hi,
When you add a column to the existing table, the column added i.e., for ex updatedon appers in the last. If you want the columns to be
displayed in Specific order. Just give the column names in the SELECT.. statement.
For your Information, But it is not good in Table design. Just to give something useful.
If you want to add a column at a specified position,
Rename the position column to the new column name
    For Ex: (OLD_COLUMN_NAME-Hiredate)
ALTER TABLE EMP RENAME COLUMN OLD_COLUMN_NAME TO TEMP_HIREDATE;Add a New Column to Table
ALTER TABLE EMP ADD LAST_DATE DATE;Then, Alter the Table to rename the new column that is added.
ALTER TABLE EMP RENAME COLUMN LAST_DATE TO OLD_COLUMN_NAME;And, Rename TEMP_HIREDATE to your actual collumn.
ALTER TABLE EMP RENAME COLUMN TEMP_HIREDATE TO LAST_DATE;In practise, this won't be a good approach but you can get something useful about renaming the
    column atleast.
    Thanks,
    Shankar

  • ESS Record Working Time - Print button gone in latest release?

    Hello,
We are implementing EP 7.0, ERP2005 (ECC 6.0) SP07, ESS (MySAP ERP) 1.0.
Previous versions of the Record Working Time screen (i.e., 50.4 and earlier) had a Print button under the time sheet, but the latest version does not.
Does anyone know when/if SAP is planning to re-introduce this capability?  The iView has Print On/Off radiobutton, but this is not to print time sheet like the old time sheet print button did (it merely determines whether 'Print' will display as an option in the listbox next to the Back and Forward nav links).
    Thank you!
    Fred

I did open a message with SAP regarding the missing print button and the fact that employee indicative data has also been removed from the time sheet in SAP's latest release.  After much back and forth, SAP has concluded that this is missing functionality and they directed me to the infamous Note 11.  Here is the text of Note 11 for anyone who may not be familiar with it:
    <i>Dear Customer,
We regret to inform you that the function you require is not included in the SAP standard system.
If you consider filing a development request, we recommend that you either contact your Customer Competence Center (CCC) or one of the User Groups to place a stronger emphasis on your request. A list of SAP User Groups is available at http://service.sap.com/communities.
    For more information, see http://service.sap.com/rollin.
    Best regards,
    SAP Active Global Support</i>
There is a "print" option on the iView which, when enabled, opens a new window for printing purposes.  However, this provides a PageBuilder rendition of the timesheet which is not sized or oriented properly for printing.  The result, therefore, is basically a truncated screenshot.  Even after manually re-orienting the page to landscape, the timesheet is truncated so no hours show.
I recommended to my client that a development request be filed.
Another perspective that I have been told is that SAP's intent was to replace the Print Time Sheet functionality with the Time Statement functionality.  This did not come from SAP, however.
In my opinion, this is an important feature that SAP should re-release as quickly as possible.
