Hi to all
Iam trying to Deploy ESS and MSS iam very much confused in versions
i have ECC6.0 SP 3
and 2004S Netweaver EP 7.0 Sp14
so which version of ESS can i deploy
Can i deploy SAP ESS100 SAP MSS100 SAP PCUI_GP 100
it works or not

Hi Pavan,
You should deploy the current version.
Refer to the SAP Note below to know the exact version for your ECC system and Portal. Make sure that both the pre-requisite are satisfied.

Hi, I'm having problem in viewing our ESS Portal version 5 (i think) to Netweaver Portal 7.
On Netweaver Portal 7, I have an iView connecting to our ESS portal. But when I view it on Netweaver Portal 7, it keeps on blinking (page keeps on reloading)

Not sure what you mean by version 5 of ESS
One possible cause from ESS application perspective --->
It should be noted as of ERP2005 - the SAP kernel will not accept calls from ITS standalone application - so ESS versions based on ITS 620 standalone have to be migrated either to WD JAVA (as provided by SAP) or customized to work with ITS 640
SAP do provide the migration of some ITS services to 640 but for the majority we recommend WD JAVA Business Packages
Also some XSS packages may be only recommended for use with some EP versions - notably SAP_ESS 100 is specifically compatible only with J2EE 640
Ideally check your version landscape to ensure you are running compatible versions
However its also possible reloading or iview handling issue is due to J2EE or Portal technology code or settings
- one possible from the technology side checking cache or refresh settings and SP stacks are followed

Upgrade ESS Version

We upgraded Portal EP 7.0 SP 9 to EP 7.0 SP 17. We have ESS 600 Patch 9 and Basis Planning to upgrade ESS 600 Patch 14. I need to know, Basis don't want to upgrade ECC version 6.0 Patch 5. Will it work on same ECC 6.0 Patch 15 Version?

Show Target hours in Recording Working Time(CATS) ESS version

Hi All,
I am trying to find out, if I can show the planned target hours on the web side of the Record Working Times component like it is shown in CAT2 as the first entry in the table. Is this possible ? Cna it be done by customizing somehow ?

I think the only way here would be to modify the standard Web Dynpro application directly in a JDI system. Check note 872892 for more info on this.

Which is the latest ESS downloadable version?

We are on EP 7.0 SP10 (SAP-JEE)
Can anyone let me know which is the ESS webdynpro version I should be ideally downloading for installation. Links to the downloads would be helpful.
We are in process of ESS webdynpro implementation process (from scratch right from downloading stuff).
Can anyone pls throw light on the steps to go about?

For our system EP7.0 SP10 we downloaded and used the following ESS versions -
1) URL - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/contentportfolio
And download - Business Package for Employee Self-Service (mySAP ERP) - 1.0
Select the one relevant to our portal SP - SP10
2) SAP ESS 600 and download - SAPESS10P_10-20000512.SCA
3) SAP PCUI_GP 600 and download - SAPPCUIGP10_0-20001215.SCA and SAPPCUIGP10P_2-20001215.SCA

HR/ESS - HRXSS_PER_READ_P0210_US/IRSLI, W-4, Filing Status

Two problems.
1. HR configured IRS Mandates in SAP. When an employee is IRS Mandates, a SAP field called IRSLI returns "X", else returned ""(empty). ESS' web dynpro model is HRXSS_PER_P0210_US. I guess one class under this model HRXSS_PER_READ_P0210_US would read in this IRSLI value. In ESS Context, we have a node to catch this IRSLI. When IRSLI equals "X", the employee's W4 will be displayed without EDIT button. That means IRS Mandates employee can not modify W4.
In QA, after the above change is made, ESS works fine, and EDIT button is hidden for IRS Mandates employee. In NW Developer Studio, Debugger shows IRSLI="X".
In production infotype 161, HR successfully configured IRS Mandates. In infotype 210, it clearly shows IRS Mandates checkbox is checked for the employee. But in production ESS, the IRS Mandates employee can still see the EDIT button in W4. I cannot debug directly in production, but I added a print command into the web dynpro program. The print command shows IRSLI="" in ESS.
The version of ESS in QA and production are the same. I have repeatedly deployed them and set some print commands to make sure they are current. ESS relies on the SAP field IRSLI returned from the model HRXSS_PER_P0210_US. But in QA, it seems SAP backend (QSS) can return IRSLI="X", but in production (PSS), it returns IRSLI="". Our SAP analyst checked on SAP side, and all configuration is fine. We tried to run a testing with HRXSS* program in SAP backend, but this program is hard to run because it needs a lot of inputs and settings.
My question is: is this a backend problem or front end problem?
As a web dynpro developer, I usually modify web dynpro programs in NW Developer Studio, then test them in QA in SAP portal (backend is QSS). After everything is good in QA, I deploy them to production. In this case, when I test it in QA, everything is fine. After deployment to production, it is NOT good. Very strange. I will appreciate any advice.
System info:
ESS version 600 SP13. Back end is ECC 6.0. JDK 1.4.2_13. SAP portal 7.0. ESS is in SAP portal.

Sorry, I posted problem #2 here. When I posted it with problem #1 above, all new-lines disappeared and made it hard to read.
2. This is another problem in ESS W4. Filing status dropdown has options such as married, single, head of household, etc. Our HR decided to remove head of household from the dropdown. SAP analyst configured the backend, and I did not do anything on web dynpro side. After the configuration is done in QSS, I logged on ESS in QA (sap portal). I could see head of household disappeared from the dropdown. This meant everything is a success and it is good to go to production.
The SAP analyst transported his configuration from QSS into production (PSS). But, when I logged on ESS in production, the head of household showed up in the dropdown!
I did not do anything on web dynpro side. I did not have any transport. It was a configure on SAP backend, and the analyst had transported it. I do not even know what the analyst did. Why it was working in QA (QSS) , but not production (PSS)? Is this a web dynpro front end problem or a backend problem?
Our QSS and PSS are the same in data, configuration and programs. While QSS and PSS are working differently, I am worried and doubting if they are really the same.

We are using ECC6.0.We have to implement ESS What should be the Version of Business Package that should be used for the same.We tried downloading BP version 1.0.We used to get an excel sheet which used to give the list of all the services and its functionalities .But i am unable to find the same type of excel sheet now.Where can i find this excel sheet which provides the list of all Services provided by the Business package

You have to use the BP for ESS version 1.0 for ECC6.0.

Error when building ESS components within NWDI for NW2004s

Hi I am trying to import thr ESS version 100 source code into the JDI.
I get the following errors

In case you have not solved this. This seems a problem with your DB. Try to redeploy your dbschema. I had a similar problem and this solved it for me.

How to show email id in personal Data of ESS

Hi All,
I have a scenario in which i have to show the email id mail in personal data iview of the personal information .
Iam using NWDI . I have checked the personal data DC and found that the RFCs being called in the application are related to 0002 infotype. I didnt find any field for email id in 0002 infotype. In my case the email id has to be picked from su01 user data.
Please help me to proceed further.

This is there in ESS version 1.0 also. You can add remove lot of fileds using the infoset in SPRO setting in
Personnel Management > Employee Self-Service > Service-Specific Settings > Whou2019s Who.

ESS / MSS Implementation for ECC 5.0 (ERP2004)

Hello,
We are preparing to implement ESS/MSS for ERP2004. We are using EP6.0 SP9. The notes for both ESS and MSS business packages refer to OSS Note 761266 regarding the versioning of XSS components. Are the patches for the XSS components supposed to be deployed to the portal environment, the ERP2004 environment, or both? The three patches mentioned are:
PCUI_GP05_1.sca
ESS05_1.sca
MSS05_1.sca
Should these be installed in the portal, ERP2004, or both?

Since the patches are stored under the ERP2004folder in the support packages area of Service.SAP.com, I assumed they would be applied to the ERP environment, but I want to confirm this.

Thanks for the clarification James. I thought the patches should be applied to WebAS for the ERP2004 environment, but the OSS note is vague about that fact.
Chuckie, We are implementing ESS version 60.2. ECC 5.0 refers to Enterprise Central Component 5.0, which is how SAP refers to the Core R/3 product in the ERP2004 suite.

ESS / MSS - HR Functional Point of View

Dear Friends,
I am HR functional consultant and i am new to ESS/MSS. Now we have a requirement. Clients current SAP version is 4.6c and in that they have implemented ESS through Workplace 2.1. Now they are going for an upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005 (ECC). ESS also they want to migrate to Enterprise Portal 7.0.
As a HR consultant what would be my role.
Migration assessment is already done and i am asked to understand the current functionalities and the new one in EP 7.
My task is
1. to find whether the new functionalities in new ESS version match the clients existing one.
2. If not what customizations need to be done to satisfy their requirements.
3.Or if its not possible in new version then we have to convince the client.
Since i am new to ESS / MSS i would request experts to guide me in this situation.

Error in Claim Advances in ESS

In ESS claim advances application page the following error is appearing : Reimbursement Type Customizing missing . Can any body suggest the solution how to proceed. Is it because of HR configurations or ESS service pack issue...?

Now in our system we installed the business package SAP_ESS 600 sp 13 . Can anybody give the info about ESS version required for the ECC 6.0 . Please Help.
By doing some configurations we resolved the Reimbursements error but If we try to create new claim and go to next page following error is coming :
Number Range Customizing is not maintained

W2 Missing in ESS

For the life of me, I would think the ability to give a user their W2 would be standard delivered in the business package for ESS. We're using Netweaver 7.0 enhancement pack 1.
I cannot find the iview for W2. Where is it? Do I need to activate something?

Please check in http://<hostname>:<port>sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo for your Portal
that components SAP_ESS and BPERP5ESS exists or has been deployed - these components should contain W2 service
(depending on ESS version)
You can get the exact location of the W2 iview from associated resource object in R3 table V_T7XSSSERRES
entry --> URL of PCD page
You should also be able to see the corresponding W2 application in Webdynpro Content Administrator
The resource we are discussing is EMPLOYEE_W2REPRINT_US_SERVICE which is actually a workflow for employees to
request a W2 reprint - this is the only standard delivered W2 functionality I am aware of

ESS-Travel and Expenses-Display Trip Form

Hi, All
We have ECC 6.0 SP11;SAP-HR SP9;EA-HR SP9.
Portal 7.0 SP10;ESS 600 SP10.
I have an issue regarding the display of Travel and Expenses Form (Trip Form) in the Portal. The expense report creation is working fine and whenever i tried to open the trip , i get the error" Error while initiating travel form". other functionalities like change report works without any issues. We have not configured the ECC for PDF creation and hence the display is supposed to show a screen report. (Anyway, I have chceked the ADS coniguration also and it is working fine.)
If i goto the Content administrator-webdynpro-applications and click the AllMytrips application and run it from there, then the display trip works fine.
Any suggestions/hints to resolve this issue is very much appreciated.

Thanks for your input. I feel the First link is not applicable to my setup as we are not using the Adobe Forms for the output( as another Dev Portal is working fine and displays the output as a Screen). Also, I am able to display the data in the current portal setup, if i run the webdynpro application separately and the output is displayed in a Screen.
May be either i have to downgrade my ESS Version to ESS600 SP6 ( current version is ESS600 SP10 ) or I have to upgrade my Portal to SP12 ( current version is SP10).
Suggestions are very much appreciated.
